RACISM Unveiled - Northern Cities You Should Avoid
Hidden Hatred: Uncovering Racism in Northern Cities
This video is made for educational purposes.
When it comes to racism, the south gets a bad rap. To be fair, there was slavery and legal segregation until the 1960s, so they do need to own up to their past. But does that mean the north is exempt? There was actually slavery in the north, although not to the scale and duration as below the Mason-Dickson line. But that doesn’t mean that the north, which prides itself on being a liberal utopia, is exempt from the wrath of this list. In this video, we’ll look at towns in the north that have made headlines for racism and anti-Semitism. We’ll look at different racial groups and how they’ve fared in the north.

Please do a video about racism on the west coast. Thanks bro
Do you have any videos with black racist areas where whites are discriminated against and physically attacked because of their identity?
@@gtracingnewton LA is the best and the worst at the same time is my opinion . It is the most racially troubled of the West but compared to any Midwest City with exception to Minneapolis , It is head and shoulders better . San Diego and Sacramento on the West Coast are the best . San Francisco before the tech revolution was by far the best in America . I would say as a result subsequently SF went from great to good but the East Bay is better . The worst in the North are Cleveland Cincinatti Pittsburg . Not just race relations but economically and city life for Blacks and everybody else for that matter it is pitiful . Seattle Portland Denver are the best in the USA for race relations .
@@johndooley133
In the Los Angeles area, racial tensions, especially against black americans, has always been a problem.
@@johndooley133Seattle is not great when it comes to race relations lots of attacks against asians and anti jews from pro Palestinian protesters.

@j.w.2391 You are a personification of missing the fucking point
Say it again 😅
Some good walleye fishing in Fallen Timber,,Maumee, Ohio, just south of Canada
Malcolm X : hater of whites
As a Southerner from Montgomery, I appreciate this post. I get tired of Northerners acting like racism only exist in The South. 🙄
This list needed to be made. There are so many issues with Chicago, and it's definitely racist, not only in the leadership, but also with the people. Good job bringing up the Texas border crisis in Chicago
Cleveland and Cincy are worse in race relations and in city life , Honestly at least Chicago has a better city life and culture . Regardless of race , The Rust Belt is a colon if America was a person .
Chicago all democrat and mostly blk
@@aliensyndrome4280
Chicago is not mostly Blx. They're the 3rd lowest demography in Chicago, but yeah, there's still a lot of them.
Past mayor and current are black.
Honestly. As a person that has lived in the south my entire life. I personally have experienced more racism and homophobia in the northern states then I have in ANY of the southern states. With rhe exception of Mississippi.
Boston is absolute GARBAGE
As a native Detroiter I’m shocked it didn’t make the list. My elementary school was 99% white and racial slurs were thrown around like it was their own name
Detroit Cleveland Pittsburgh Cincy are the worst . The Rust Belt is trash in everything.
Chicago is the most racially segregated city in the US, Detroit is second.
I knew Boston was gonna be numero uno. Some pro athletes have no trade to Boston clauses in their contracts.
Cleveland Pittsburg and Cincy are worse than Boston . They are terrible for blacks economically as well and blultly not all that great for people period . The Rust Belt Midwest is the worst place for blacks or to a degree any red blooded human regardless of race to live . The Plains is a teeny bit better.
@@johndooley133 yeah it’s a shame isn’t ? Sometimes it’s just so lame and all you can do ignore it and don’t let it get in your way. Keep pushing bruh! No Diddy
@@ericjohnson4792 Thank god i don’t live in the Midwest.
Then you should be happy since the current mayor of Boston wanted to throw a party that only excluded the White city employees.
It’s ironic that the Boston Celtics had arguably the best black basketball player ever - Bill Russell.
I grew up in the heart of Philly, and as someone who is a mix of white, Asian and Pacific Islander, I faced constant racism as a kid, 95% of it from blue collar white kids in a predominantly democrat area.
Im from Buffalo, and i moved to the South. Ab-so-lute-ly true. I saw way more confederate flags there than down here. There are no mixed neighborhoods outside of the immigrant-heavy west side. Down here, blacks, hispanics, and whites live in the same neighborhoods and no issues or the Buffalo dog-whistle known as "lower property values". Real shocker, tbh
nothing like a southern racist southern white bringing their racism up north. may have to suppress it some up here but if and maybe when able to bring it out - THEY WILL!!
In the South They Had Sundown Towns & in the North They Had Sundown Neighborhoods.
😂😂😂
They still do 👍
Never become complacent 👍
Lol, north absolutely had sundown towns and cities. North Tonawanda, NY had a siren that blasted at 6pm everyday to let black people know to leave. It ran until 2006.
The North is as racist, if not more, as the South. Any other claim is just ignorant
You forgot to mention how NYC and the state of NY is home the most segregated schools in the country for black and white residents along with being the 2nd most segregated for whites and Hispanics/latinos
Very true.
Spot on. Im from brooklyn and went to school in Long island new york, school was 99.9% minority 40% black 60% hispanic and just one town over you would find a school where its the opposite 100% white and no minorities
@unrulytdott2824 I remember Andrew Jackson High School in Queens Village was all Black, and at nearby Elmont High school, which is right across the Nassau border, was all white. Elmont High School now is all black because of white flight.
@@joedimaggio3687 Rosedale used to be all white now its all black

Philadelphia (Philly) and Baltimore need to have an honorable mention. They are not immune to the pressure from New York, Boston and DC.
I’m surprised Indiana didn’t make the list with the history of the KKK and sundown towns
Well researched video. Thanks for shining light on this
I’ll be suprised if Cincinnati Ohio isn’t on here. Since technically it’s a northern city but literally one bridge away from being Kentucky.
The Ohio Michigan Indiana Kentucky has race relations that are garbage. But aside they are very especially Ohio downtrodden places to live .
I've heard plenty of people say Boston, but i also know everyone's experience is different. I lived shortly in Boston (6 months) but never experienced anything out of the ordinary of 'typical northern hospitality' aka no hospitality
Cleveland Cincy Pittsburg in my opinon are the worst of the North . Not just race relations but living job opportunity and culture.
You didn't go far.
Boston is incredibly racist!
Milwaukee, just up the road from Chicago!!
Great job not just singling out the south. I'm from North Carolina and I visit up north in Michigan on occasion and encountered a lot of racism there, same when I was in Chicago.
Racism is now a public health crisis??? OH FUCK ME RUNNING BOSTON
Calling Israel 's war crimes and human rights violations out is not antisemitism.
I knew Boston was #1
I've been to 40 states and I'm not surprised the Midwest dominated this list. While the west coast is generally much less racist than the rest of the country, of course no place is completely free from racism so a similar video highlighting west coast cities would be interesting. By west coast I also mean nearby cities that have a west coast culture like Reno, Las Vegas, and Phoenix which technically aren't coastal but could be considered west coast. I can already give away what number one would be and that's Los Angeles.
@@johndooley661 Agree
@@ShonnMorris LA is the best and worst at the same time. The beach areas are the best. But in poorer communities Black and Mexicans do not get along . And LA has a bad history with the LAPD LASD and Watts and Rodney King riots . San Diego is LA without the racial baggage. It is the best in So Cal . And for all of LA issues , It is still better than the Rust Belt by far! NorCal San Francisco before the tech revolution was the best, But now it is only good . Many of the tech bros are types that come from very limited exposure to any minority outside of Asian Females . I would say the East Bay Oakland is better because it has a strident history of people coming together to better communities and still even SF still has elements of its acceptance of black men dating whoever they please and making a life for themselves but NorCal , Sacramento is the best. It’s the best in America!!!! It is the most diverse city in America and the most racially integrated. Seattle and Portland are up there .
@@johndooley661 As a person who grew up in Berkeley and Oakland and has lived in San Diego for a long time, I have to agree with you.
Minneapolis/St.Paul must be #11? This list needs to be expanded to 20 because MSP, Seattle, Denver, LA, Philadelphia, St. Louis etc. have issues as well.
Minnneapolis is much better than anywhere else in the Midwest. By far !!!!!!! Honestly i think its one of the best in the USA !!!!!! Cleveland Cincy PIttsburg should be the top 3. And regardless of race. Cleveland and Cincy suck ass as far as culture and people.
@v.a.993 💯.
No... you see racism against white people doesn't count, that's considered "progress".
yes Philly is racist I experienced a lot of racism there
@@johndooley133 for working Black professionals who are from other cities, Minneapolis is not that great. The Minnesota Nice racism while not as bad as it used to be is still bad.
I'm surprised Pittsburgh is not on this list. I knew Boston would be #1.
Pittsburg Cincy and Cleveland deserve to be co 1# Both are worse than Boston.
I'm from Pittsburgh so I definitely know
How have you been discriminated against?
Micro aggression? Is that aggression toward little people?
The "you must be this tall" sign you see at fairs and theme parks
As someone who lives in Michigan the Flint issue is misleading, the local officials have the final say so in where they get water from. 90% of the local officials in Flint are black. The Flint water crisis was because you had people cutting corners to help themselves had almost nothing to do with race. I could see it being racially motivated if the cities politicians were white but there not. Not saying Flint hasn't had its racial issues but the water crisis was not a good example of this. I was not a fan of gov. Rick Snyder and voted for Big Gretch but he is also not really at fault since drinking water in America is to be maintained by local officials.
Interesting insight, thanks for sharing Andrew!
I don’t get it. Are they calling blacks racist or xenophobic for complaining about the migrants. If so I’m totally shocked
No , However i would say out loud that most cities with Black Majority popluations are not good economically for Blacks . Cities that blacks do well in are those where they are not the total underclass and everybody else does well. That would be generally the fast growning cities and states of the Sun Belt .
This but it can be argued that alot of the problems they are experiencing are faults of their own.
In the sense they keep on electing politicians that seems to have their best interest at heart
But overall what they've done has disproportionately impacted black populations in a negative way
I'm speaking about Chicago in general though
But it becomes true now in areas like California and even dc and New York
@@Alxotaku Dallas Houston, San Antonio Austin Charlotte, Miami Tampa, Orlando Atlanta all have minority mayors, and those are the best cities for African-Americans plus Washington DC Prince Georges County and a few other places in northern Virginia and Maryland or anybody else for that matter. Old Rust belt cities are a lost cause and you look at Toledo Youngstown and other white majority rustbelt cities poverty is just as pervasive in terms and crime . Youngstown Ohio was the bomb of America and it is very white.
I do think it’s important to get an understanding of prior records of those arrested. But either way, there is unfortunately racism everywhere. I never thought about the Alaska issues
You forgot the racist violence and open expression of bad feelings in the wake of the beginning of court ordered bussing in Boston in the 1970s. I was there, though in a suburb.
I disagree with the statement about Jewish people. A few comments (not attacks, just words) don't equate to what Black people experience in this country.
Blacks in other white majority nations are treated like non black people of color in the USA. Thats my opinon so yes you are correct ! America we do not treat all minorities equal .
It’s not just cities it’s the whole damn country
😂😂😂😂
You can leave! I'll help you pack!😂
I use to live in Indiana back in the late 90s early 2000s. And although i never experienced outright racism. You would get looks and mean stares from the white people in the area. I'm in Florida now and its a lot better. I have heard Indy has gotten a lot more diverse recently
"Florida is better?" I find that hard to believe with Ron Desantis as governor.
It was so different in the South because due to its sordid history, I expected the southern states to be very racist. I found out that the white people in the Southern States were much nicer than I expected. Even a white woman in a store let me use the store phone (before cell phones were out) and walked off and did not give it a second thought. I made my phone call to AAA, got my road side service and I thanked her and that was it! Any racism I saw was within the military and it was third hand, none of them said anything crazy to me directly. I spoke my mind because I don’t play that racism comments or none of that! I didn’t care about rank when it came to that. But I have witnessed it when it came to UCMJ action being a Paralegal in the military. Other than that, I didn’t see or hear anything off kiltered down south.
Racial segregation and disparities between blacks and whites are much worse in the Rust Belt than the south .
I appreciate you sharing what some cities are doing to combat racism.
SOUTH WERE OPENED and NORTH WERE HIDDEN ‼️🥵
That part
Sad Boston is #1 but of course it would be especially back then in Southie racist Irish and Italian ones along with Whitie Buldger def gave the Bean a bad rap.
Yes . Boston gets a bad rap from a few ratchet white neighborhoods. But I would say Cleveland Cincinnati and Pittsburgh are much worse than Boston. It’s just that the reputation in the Rust Belt is so inferior and inept that poor race relations in that region are on the back burner.
That is racist!
Greed is the father of all discrimination in every form.
It's worth noting that most of these cities are considered "liberal."
South Jersey has plenty of racist places. #1 New Gretna, NJ
South Jersey is a border state
Indiana os honestly one of the most racist states ive ever been to. I was born there. And i lived in the south most of my life.
The region Indiana is in is crappy to live in racism or not. But in my opinion, the amount of jobs that were lost in Ohio, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania leads to tribalism and the region lacks an abundant mentality . The best Metro for blacks to live and be successful in our in the Sunbelt region of the US and on the opposite side of the worst cities for black to live in are rust belt black majority cities .
Not surprised by this list however Boston M did not let me down coming in at #1 Priceless
No surprise Boston is number 1, should be number 1 for other types of prejudice as well
He ain't lying about that Texas fact, not only do we as minorities have to worry about the homeless we have to worry about immigrants committing crimes
Texas belongs to the Comanche tribe, those settlers can go back to Europe.
I lived in Boston years ago. I was surprised then I remembered the bus being turned over and it had not changed.
Ashamed New York New York
York ,Pa should be on this list.
I would say all of Pennsylvania is racist, prejudiced, xenophobic, biased one way or another toward minorities.
Thank you for this.
Is there a video when it comes to which cities' race relations are fluid ?
Honorable Mention States that didn't make are : Washington State , Seattle Washington Oregon State: Portland Oregon, Nevada State : Las Vegas Nevada Racist Award winning Follow Up 😊😊😊😊
Ohio Mich Indiana PA KY WV are not much better than Bama Louisiana Miss . But the quality of live in the Rust Belt regardless of race is pathetic and people are just hagged out gross on meth obese and dying . I would kiss the PNW over the Midwest Rust Belt
I cannot believe that you are not mentioning racist cities like east st. louis, and Bolingbrook in Illinois, Black people are not the only race that gets a hard time based on their race. If you are going to do a report like this, do a non racist report.
Did you actually watch the video? He literally talked about Native American racism, Jewish racism and Asian racism.
Great information. The younger generation moved North, not many of the older generation felt it was necessary. The old people felt moving North was a trick and a fantasy of younger generations far removed from slavery. It was written The South suffered from Carpet beggars after Reconstruction. The North was more about competing with new Americans coming to the country. for jobs and housing. I think most don’t understand descendants of American slaves never had many Allies beyond Quakers, a remnant of Native Americans a remnant of Methodist and the Episcopal churches. Later more of the Christian church served as well. Mostly persecuted Protestants. They call it the Jim Crow North, possibly worst than the South as less blacks in the North owned housing, land, and businesses. An old black man once said in Mississippi at least he owned his own land and a little shack. Migrating north he had a decent job, but not a home. Many younger black generation moved North and buried more of their fsmily due to drugs and crime and fast pace of urban areas.
Northeastern Pennsylvania, including the Poconos, Lackawanna County, & Luzerne County.

Rust Belt is racist af . Espically Ohio Michigan Indiana Pa , However no matter what race you are its a depressing discusting place to live with depressing discusting stupid people . The plains wing of the Midwest is a teeny bit better . MInneapolis does not belong on this list . It has superior race relations than any Midwest City . Heck its up there with Seattle Portland and Denver with tolerance .
I'm just moving to South Dakota. I can take care of my own dog.
Racism is there as well
Pittsburgh definitely making the cut 😂😂
Pittsburgh should definitely be on the top of the list
Why should Pittsburgh be on the list?
All the policies and issues you described in Chicago, especially those regarding the migrant crisis, have taken place during the administrations of the last two mayors of Chicago, both of whom are black.
The governors who are using taxpayer money to perpetrate this migrant busing political stunt and congresspeople who refuse to pass the Biden bill that would fix it are white . The Mayors of Dallas Houston Atlanta Charlotte are black and those cites are booming. I am not excusing the other problems in black majority cites but be consistent.
If Boston, Massachusetts isn't #1, this list isn't accurate.
Why was the State of Michigan excluded from their part in the Flint Water problem?
Pekin, Illinois should be on the list.
Is that going to be before or after the Civil War,, 1830 Indian Forced Removal Act,,War of 1812,,???
Boston. No doubt about it.

So is it that only whites are racist or are other cultures racist as well? Just curious.
Whites are Racist--they have the power to be. Racism is a System (whites control the system). Anyone else using racial slurs against another group or being hostile towards them is simply Prejudice.

DETROIT!
Detroit had racial problems very badly in the 60’s and earlier. I could even say part of the seventies. All of it came to a head when we had the ‘67 riots and the Algiers Motel incident. In my old neighborhood, it was mostly Jewish back in the ‘50s until black families started moving in. From the automotive industry, many from the Greatest, The Silent Generations and older Baby Boomers had jobs in the Auto factories making GOOD money! The whites and Jewish moved out to the suburbs while Detroit’s demographics started getting more melanated. Everyone was driving nice cars and living in mini mansions including my family. We still had some problems still but not really bad ones since the riots. Then came that Bussing issue which started all over again. When we got our first Black Mayor Coleman A. Young, there was some animosity between Wayne County and Oakland County’s L. Brooks Paterson. I left Detroit for the military and haven’t returned until 2012. The whites and blacks pretty much get along now in the city from where I can see. Now Oakland and Macomb Counties, there may be a few who can act a fool but I’ve haven’t had any issues thus far. Detroit really isn’t as bad as some of these other cities in the North.

I try not to use the word "racism" too much. A racist is someone with a deep-seated dislike of people who are "different," and I don't think most Americans have that mindset. I'd call our cities "systemically discriminatory," but not racist.
Of all U.S. cities, I tend to think of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the least "racist." It has a long history of ethnic diversity, opposition to slavery, upward mobility for African-Americans, and efforts to improve race relations.
Boston is one too . But the worst are cites like Pittsburgh Cleveland Cincy Buffalo New Orleans and Birmingham Alabama .
