I agree with the one guy. I had an African friend. I asked him why African do not like/respect black Americans. He confirmed the fact that Africans think black Americans squander their opportunities. I reminded him that immigrant blacks are offered free housing, education, business loans etc. I told him native black Americans are not given these things. We have to qualify and are most often denied.
In my mid fifties now, remember my father talking about a family that moved on to our street. Both, my parents and grandparents used derogatory terms, growing up during the civil rights struggles. I feel like my generation got much more exposure to equality and I feel much more accepting than my elders. The key lies in education and surrounding future generations with equality. We learn what we live.
Did you know that California has some of the most segregated cities and counties in the country? A school district in my area is just now becoming integrated in 2021! Shout out to Marin county!
I'm Native American, I had to drive from Oklahoma to New York. Somewhere in between I can't quite remember what state, Pennsylvania maybe. But we stopped to grab lunch at McDonald's and every person in there had there eye on us non stop. Was the worst feeling. I never thought I'd experience something like that before.. everyone seem to have an argument locked and loaded and ready to explode on us.
I get it. I'm biracial and back in 09 me, my ex, and our buddy (who are both white)took a road trip from Tennessee to Florida. We stopped in Macon, Georgia, to grab a bite to eat. I've never been so stared down in my life; one old fart actually mumbles the n-word as he passes by me.

It wasn't until I lived in the Alabama Tennessee area that I was called an uppity "N" I was shocked and I got mouthy because the gentleman didn't even have on a shirt with his overalls. Once I got back in my car it hit me that could have ended badly for me. An elder in Tennessee told me she never left the town she lived in because the white folks knew her there and in other cities they didn't . Imagine the fear to never leave some where for that reason. It's so sad.
I've been to both White & Black funeral homes and can say when it comes to planning a home going for a loved one both will try to rip you off because they know every decision is based on emotions.
One time I lived in the hood, small hood. We were the only "white people" in the area, even though it wasn't a HUGE crime filled area like the heights. Our neighbor who played nice jazz/piano music next door had cancer and finally he died. We attended his ceremony in a small church and we just got stared at like we were the ones why he's dead. Nobody said anything. I could imagine what they might've been saying in their mind. Michigan can be prejudice af too. Especially in the detroit area.

I lived in Camden County southern Georgia for 2 years in the 80's, I met some of the most genuine wonderful caring folks I had ever came across in my young life(19yrs), these kind people would of been considered white trash to those classifying Americans. Being born in America to both Mexican parents I had some of the worst ideas running through my head when I received orders to be stationed there. I believed that the color of my skin was going to be a big concern for me, but it turned out to be an overreaction on my part from what I had seen in movies, t.v., and heard of old stories of the Deep South. I honestly believe that the mutual respect we shared toward each other back then made our friendship effortless and enlightening, I truly appreciate and loved the experience learned and I have to give thanks to every single St. Mary's and Kingsland individual I personally met for keeping an open mind and having love for fellow citizens that might look and talk slightly different, God bless America🙏.

Prejudice is the foundation of the survival instinct. All of us are constantly evaluating threats subconsciously. Pre-conceived notions, or prejudices, are what initially create “awareness” that “this person could be a threat” and our analysis goes from there. All this happens within seconds.

I heard that the BLM movement was actually started when a Black officer shot a Black suspect who was actually armed. If I remember right the Police chief and the Mayor of the city were also black, but maybe that was a different protest that was started. BLM was recently protesting a shooting where a black woman and her children were actually in danger from the suspect that was shot and the protesters were giving the black woman a hard time. Statistically a black man is more likely to be shot by a black from a rival gang than by the police. They make the police their enemy in their protests then wonder why their neighborhoods are full of crime. Their heros are the rappers who rap about drugs and many are involved in the business then they wonder why their hoods are full of drugs.

I’m going to throw out an opinion. I believe that most of the bias and animosity that is interpreted as racism is not actually racism. It’s a cultural divide. The white and black communities were separated for a long time which led to a difference in values. This was also exacerbated by the end of segregation. While I’m not arguing for segregation, it is true that black business owners and wealthier black men were forced into hiring only from their own communities which led to a normalization of middle class norms. However when segregation ended, all the higher income black individuals in black business owners left the black communities to fester, and this led to the cultural stagnation of the black community. While it is true the black community has been through a lot in the past, I think it’s important that the black community comes to terms with the numerous cultural problems that exist within their community in order to more effectively improve their lives and the lives of their children.

You seem to begin somewhere around the middle, or somewhere near the end farthest away from the origin of things. It’s sort of an abstraction. it’s sort of a putting the cart before the horse.

The only thing white settlers did was steal land and kill everything in sight oh and then use enslaved Africans to make themselves rich.
@@ossoduro7794 yes sir I do understand this. My reply was to ignorance so I replied in a like minded manner. My comment is in reference to the fact that without the free labour of the enslaved many whites would not have become as rich as they did and the fact that the slaves contributed in such a big way to make America what it was back in the day.
We need to all do better including me
This was great conversation. Awesome hearing the natural comments of the guy from Alabama and from Pennsylvania. Thanks for this clip! It would be awesome to provoke more open conversations like this with people feeling safe to express their opinion without attack or harsh judgement. KUDOS to you as the interviewer.
Ok Trent :)
Don't you think that people might be afraid to organize and try to change old embedded attitudes and whatever causes people to hang onto what beliefs that cause not only the need to put others down; but to actively hate them.
Congratulations on becoming a realtor
A White father and his 2 beautiful boys were heinously killed(for no reason), by somebody I can’t describe.
A black church was shot up for no reason by someone I can’t describe it’s life
dont forget eliza flethcer too
If you want to see real racism, be white and move to a black neighborhood, like I did. If you live, you will have a keen understanding of racism.
blacks dont hate on whites the way whites hate on blacks and there are plenty whites in my neighborhood
Works both ways nice try
That anonymous ex-police officer is exactly right. Cops are less proactive now due to the fallout. Not worth it anymore. As a result, we all suffer.
I'm multiracial but I only like one kind of people, good people❤.
My two eyes on my head see color, my eye in my head see soul, I've learned to judge soul 🤝🏾🤝🏻🤝
I've been waiting for you to make this video for years!!! Thanks!!
I'm a brown American who has many more white friends than any other group. I think everyone is different. It's about who you feel comfortable with than prejudice in my opinion.
Keep up the good work Nick. We need more conversations like this.
Ok!
exactly
Nick is questionable. Look at the understanding in his questions and answer sessions, at how his x attitude change when he ask a “black or ask a “white”
@@NickJohnson you do be saying some racists things when describing urban cities compared to sundown towns???? You know what I mean
We don't, it's on the news 24/7 and almost all of it is anti white bullshit
What, no Westside, Eastside of Chicago, no Detroit, no East LA, or Compton, etc? Be white and go to those places, then redo this video.
There's plenty of white people that live in those areas. You're just scared of the inner city
@@politelady123 I'm a Mexican who lives in the inner city, and you're delusional
Nick is normally well researched, but got CRT wrong.
He also focuses only on Africans and Europeans in this country aka blacks and whites..
As a Pennsylvanian I can confirm #3 is not surprising. I live in the suburbs of some upper/upper middle class neighborhoods and I can’t go anywhere without seeing at least 2 confederate flags…
I'm from S AL and live in NE GA now. It was horrible in AL when I was a kid. My Mom would not let us even think about treating anyone any different from anyone else. I am SO thankful for that💜
Your mom is wonder person. She taught you right.
It’s funny you think Georgia is any better
@@glow1815 if I was you, I rather live in Virginia!
...and one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind'. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it. 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." Matthew 22:35-40
I don't hear any mention of race, creed, or COLOR in Jesus' words. We should live accordingly.
I appreciate this conversation. We need this discussion to break down barriers.
This is a great conversation! Excellent discussion. You are honest and very accurate Nick!
Hes naive and only telling you what you want to hear liberal.
@@steviethemad9212 How do you figure that??? Please be more specific.
@@steviethemad9212 And what does Political Affiliation have to do with anything???
When I was active duty. We would be warned going off post due to the racial hate crimes.
That is a shame!!!
Where were you stationed when they said that?
You should go where you want and anyone that violates better get smoked out of their boots

I was in Germany with a(nother) black soldier, who had come in from Ft. Polk, LA. After his first week there, he said he was so "shook" that he simply didn't leave the base if he could avoid it. He was stationed there for two years...
OMG, the puppy and the butterfly made me so happy....awe.
