To me the part that gets me choked up is " I know some day you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star, in somebody's sky, but why, why can't it be mine."
It's been almost 40 years since I was hurt badly by someone, and those lines still hit me very hard. And Sori's reaction to "somebody else's sky" was the exclamation point for me in this reaction. I still haven't felt that way again ... even through a subsequent 15-year relationship and marriage.
I'm 43 and this song "Black" and "Alive" from the album Ten; were the shit when you're young. Eddie Vedder's performance at every concert is just like that, extremely passionate. He's married and got 2 daughters, so life turned out great for him.

Gotta disagree with the senses. In art, five horizons (revolving) around a central point (sun) makes a star (surrounding another star). We have previous lyrical art analogies in empty canvas, sheets of clay, and we get stars/sun lyrics repeatedly.
@@caseimagnus8762 your perspective on the lyrics are pretty good and I'd agree with you if Eddy Veder didn't explain these lyrics in an interview, it definitely means our 5 senses
“All five horizons” is a metaphor for the five senses. Man I remember being stationed in Bremerton when Pearl Jam hit the scene. I so miss this era. Eddie has such a powerful voice. Pearl Jam was the LED Zepplin of my generation.
I've seen a comment in this video from a fan that met Eddie and he/she asked him what did he mean with the fifth horizon. North, south, east and west were four of them. And the fifth was the sky. It blew my mind.
Top four. I’ll give them the crown for most underrated band of all time. They were Nirvana before Kurt Cobain was in high school and they lasted thirty years. The late late stuff isn’t as good but the band is so much more than the Ten album. Ledbetter and the entire Vitology album are insanely good.
Dave Windell First off, Alice In Chains is the most underrated 90’s band. And second, Vs. - is Pearl Jam’s best album (subjectively of course). Although I agree Vitology is probably their second best.
Dave Windell Btw, you’re totally incorrect about Pearl Jam being Nirvana before Kurt Cobain. Nirvana’s first album was released in 1989. Pearl Jam’s first album came out in 1991, two years and two months after Nirvana’s “Bleach”.
And kids! Thats how you sing a song!! With soul with passion! Straight deep comming from the heart, Eddie vedder's voice is heaven.🤟😎👍it gives you chills and goosebumps.
I can answer so many of your Pearl Jam questions but we’d be here all day... haha Yes they are still together. They still tour. He’s happily married with two beautiful girls. And he sings with this level of intensity to this day. I’m so happy you guys did this. And with the exception of almost every queen performance ever there is no better live performance in my opinion.
I was blessed to have moved to Seattle in 1990 and was into the whole music scene and got to see Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden plus get to meet all those bands. Great times and great Memories alone with sad ones too.
Fuck, I was born in 1992 and lived in the Seattle area. Wish I could have been born sooner to see all of what I've heard about. Those concerts in the park, maaaaaan. My uncle talks about it like it was everything.
@biswarup banerjee I don't like grunge music. I can tolerate soundgarden and a little Pearl Jam but I was into and still am into extreme music. Slayer, cannibal corpse, etc... I overlooked a ton of lyrics. I also despise bands like nirvana and mud honey.
megatron210777 I'm curious, what makes you like Cannibal corpse? Of course I also like CC but sometimes It gives me headaches and the lyrics are very childish...how old are you? If you don't mind me asking. I was totally into extreme metal till the late 20s then with age, we started moving backwards to classic rock ( I play bass for couple of bands...nothing big...just few middle aged long haired guys having a good time) For Nirvana, I guess you need to be in that scene to appreciate their music, glam metal was possibly the worst genre of music, which they wiped out...if you listen closely... without any prejudice, you may appreciate the brutal honesty about their songs...yes, they took punk style of approach in many of their songs...which may not sound very musical but they were very very honest about the music. Some of my musician buddies hate Nirvana, but honestly as a former junkie who almost lost everything... I do appreciate Kurt a lot..if your life is always been perfect, you may not feel it at all, but some of us were not so lucky...
Biswarup Banerjee I started listening to extreme metal back in my teenage years. I was trying to be "be rebellious" and grunge wasn't doing anything for me. I'm not saying grunge or nirvana wasn't good music, it just wasn't my taste. I guess death metal was a way to make me feel like I was a tough guy because it helped me escape the troubles of my adolescence years. Now I'm older and I listen to everything different, including Pearl Jam which I didn't pay attention to in the past. Reason why I overlooked his lyrics. I just didn't pay attention til now.
Also another great Unplugged Performance is NIRVANA, WHERE DID YOU SLEEP LAST NIGHT my opinion the best unplugged performance KURT'S SCREAM AT THE END GIVE ME CHILL BUMPS EVERY TIME
When I was in my twenties living in Seattle in the 1990's I saw a lot of these bands coming up and Pearl Jam was always my favorite. I worried constantly that Eddie wouldn't survive. He seemed so tortured and when performing live he took crazy chances climbing all over the stage. And heroin was a real issue everywhere at that time. Yet here we are 30 years later and the band is still intact and strong, but pretty much all of the other groups have suffered horrible losses. To this day, Ten is still my favorite album. It is brilliant work from start to finish.
My goodness. Words CANNOT express how jealous I am. When this came out I was 12 in Poland, and could only dream of your experiences... cherish that mate! :)
This is still one of the BEST LIVE performances that I have ever seen. Such a great song and when he sings it live you can see all the emotion in him..... Thanks for the reaction!!
This is exactly the reaction I was hoping for from you two.I’m not a big Pearl Jam fan but this to me is one of the greatest vocal performances I have ever seen.Talk about someone pouring their heart out through their vocal cords! Eddie Vedder is amazing here!
darrell wood Exactly. I’m not the biggest fan, but Eddie proved himself to be a soul singer on this song. The fact that the live, unplugged version exceeds the studio version is mind blowing. Hats off!
I wonder if the line " five horizons" refers to the five senses sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound. So the sun set on all the senses that reminds him of her.
East. West. North. South. Straight up. Or at least that's how I always took it, but it's art, beautiful art so part of that beauty is the who knows part, the mystery.
Paul Smith yeah it is perspective and personal experience. I love hearing other people's perspective cause it's hard to look outside myself. Thnx for the comment bro.
Thank you so much for reviewing this version of 'Black'. This song stuck with me for the last 26 years. And even as a little German teen back then with little knowledge of the English language I could feel the pain and relate to that song. It's the song I always come back to when life is giving me rough times and I guess that's the way it's always going to be. Inmho Pearl Jam is and always was an unpretentious down to earth band. You could fill books with the amazing things they did over the last decades. I'm never up for idolizing people, but Eddie and PJ might be the only exception I'd ever make. Just love these guys. If you want to do another PJ live performance I'd recommend 'Porch' of the Pinkpop festival back in 1992. It's just epic. Of course they grew up and calmed down over the years (they're all in their mid 50ies now), but they're still one of the greatest live rock bands existing out there. Other songs I'd recommend are 'Sirens', 'Sad' and 'Come back'. Only to name a few. Just explore their catalouge, you won't be disappointed. Greetings from Germany! :)
Dude, Vin’s mind got blown so hard he broke and became speechless. Had to cut to let him recover. 😂 That’s fucking awesome. I seriously believe Vin hit the nail on the head with his interpretation of this song. I had never thought of the song that way before. Damn man. Vin you just singlehandedly put this song on a whole other level. I’m fucking addicted to these kinds of videos now. For me, I’ve been listening to a lot of these songs since I think my freshman year of high school. Always knowing these bands where on another level compared to a lot of other music whether it be from the time period in which the bands formed and became big, or music today. So when I see people hearing it for the first time ever in most cases it makes me happy ‘cause I was them at one point. Never having heard it before, but once I did I never wanted to UNhear it. Just being blown away as a teenager not fully grasping all the ideas within. Not just the lyrics but the musical arrangement as well. However, now I can full grasp those ideas being an adult and it makes the songs just that much better. Again, these videos make me really happy.
They already rated Jeremy best song ever, Black unplugged as the best acoustic/live performance, might as well react to Porch so they can see one of the most powerful concert performances ever...
The entire with grunge is that it evolves around unhealthy emotional places in people. It makes for some beautiful music, but trying to live it is apparently a very difficult life if you look at the amount of deaths among its players. The highs and lows are so far apart with not enough just being content. Getting to wrapped up in your own feelings isn't the place we need to live.
@@Fitchie69 Album!!! Bass being so important to it and having more power plugged in is precisely why, as well as Layne was dope sick at the time. Not his best vocal performance. Let's stop steering Vin&Sori in the opposite direction to get the wrong idea like with Love-Hate-Love.
One of if not the most powerful and poetic lost love songs of all time and a fantastic performance. The line "all I taught her was everything...I know she gave me all that she wore" was always to me a line about relationship dynamics. Men generally have a hard time opening up emotionally and sharing thoughts and feelings. Women generally are slower to connect physically. That he had "taught her everything" (talked and shared everything) and she had "given all she wore" (been naked with him) says to me they were both commited at a deep level. Fantastic song. Thanks for sharing!
You should do 'Release' from Pearl Jam. It is very emotional. The song is about Eddie Vedders fathers death. He also did not know his father from my understanding. I never knew my father as well, so the emotion in the song is trememdous.
Black is and always has been my favourite Pearl Jam song. Almost 30 years since they recorded it. But whenever I hear it now, I think of Chris. Beautiful, amazing Chris.
For anyone who has made someone their entire universe and then that person leaves, this song hits very hard. I've been there and this song expresses what it's like. My advice to people is to not put someone so far up on a pedestal that you cannot reach them, don't completely open that vulnerable side of yourself to a person unless you know for sure they feel the same way about you. Once they ascend beyond you, you are left in the cold and dark. It's pure hell and some people never make it out.
I was kinda blessed to get Eddie to ask me... "do you want to ask me something?" "yes", i said, "i know north south east and west, but whats the fifth horizon?" he just pointed with his finger to the sky. LoudLove to all of you! ❤️❤️❤️ and yes, this song was and IS big! Very big to a lot of people in this world!
Wow! This has to be one of the most intelligent, insightful and best analytical reactions and breakdown of lyrics of any reactions on YT. Well done. 🙌🙌🙌
Man... Love this song... Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder are just the best, Black is a song that can bring me to tears, it's powerful, deep, painful, it's full of sentiment, it comes from the deeps of his soul and it touches every single one of us! Thank you for your video and your analyses
Their best song. So good. So soulful. So emotional. This is what grunge was all about. Exposing pain and depression. Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Layne Staley... putting their emotions on the table for all to see. Tapping into frustrations that resonated. They were raw. And when you feel emotion that deeply it's no surprise that Eddie is the last man standing. It's sad. But by far my favorite time in music. Wish there was more of it. I agree with everyone suggesting Alice in Chains - Nutshell Unplugged. Very chilling performance considering the state Layne was in when it was recorded. Like we were watching him die on stage really, and his voice still pierced through.
Also, the entire album Ten... one of the greatest Rock albums of all time. Not a skip-able track on the entire thing. Would have been a good album review.
Ten is definitely their best work. After that they went more off in a Neil Young direction and I think they wanted to distance themselves from the grunge labels. Still have bits and pieces that I’ve enjoyed off most of their albums. But Ten was definitely special. Not a skippable song on the whole thing.
Thank you for reviewing this song, my adsolute very favorite song and the absolute anthem of my life since the day I heard it. I was in high school, my friend bought the CD the day it came out. We listened to it on our "cd man". The next day, I skipped school and took a bus to the store and bought it... This is my second favorite version of it... There is one other live one not unplugged (pink pop 1992), it goes on for about 10 minutes, but doesn't feel like it... You can see tears in Eddie's eyes and also the eyes of many in the audience... Thanks again. Hail from Seattle.
Alice In Chains Unplugged is the best Unplugged ever!! Nutshell or Down in. Hole! This Unplugged was amazing as well! You should really watch it from beginning to end it’s only a half hour and Eddie and the boys kill it! The ending of this song is amazing when he ad libs “ we belong together “ amazing!
Hi Vin and Sori! I am so glad to hear you're loving Pearl Jam! I am from Seattle and grew up with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and many other bands from here in the grunge era. Pearl Jam is still going strong. They raised over a million dollars performing 3 benefit shows here in Seattle to help out the homeless. They do many great things to help make this world better. Eddie Vedder releases solo albums and tours from time to time. I highly recommend his "Ukelele Songs" album for a soft accompaniment to work activity during the day. They were conducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame a few years ago as well. Anyways, a such great talent the band is and they will continue to go strong. Keep jamming and rocking on!
Great review. The key to the the first 2 lines is when he said He taught her everything. He loved her shaped her molded her. He made her his world. She gave him all that she wore refers to the flesh. She didnt give her soul as he did. The 5 senses are the horizons. She was his sun. As the line when he says how quick the sun can fall away. No sun equals no light equals black. I love your analysis. I'm a forty five year old brother . And I remember hearing this for the first time in 92. Its by far my favorite pearl jam song. Great video again . Subscribed
“Pearl”: it’s surfer slang for submerging the nose of your board, (The band came up with “Pearl” at a brainstorming session in a Seattle restaurant; the “Jam” got added after a 1991 trip to New York City that included a Neil Young concert where many of his songs became extended jams.)
You can basically close your eyes and pick any random Pearl Jam song and you'll find, in varying levels, something of greatness. Not all their songs were 'hits' but they are all worth listening to at least once. And, the band is still together. Still making music. Still friends.
ZeroNeuro Studios the last band standing from what was in my opinion the greatest era for rock in the states, I know STP and AIC are still together but no band is ever the same once the lead singer goes. PJ is probably my favourite band of all time, and I agree all their songs are worth at least one listen.
I absolutely love the way you guys dissect these songs! The analogies you bring up I have either said or it's a totally different aspect than what I was originally thinking of.
Been listing to this song for about 15 years now, almost every week- you guys did an amazing job reacting this this song- not right or wrong - it’s just poetry and everyone will interpret it how they feel it- it’s funny that this guy is more of a soul/spiritual one and the girl is the literal one
By some reason is considered the best unplugged ever. A show that all the greats do, starting with Paul MacCartney, and from Eric Clapton to Bob Dylan all do it. But the Nirvana unplugged... Only the Clapton one had a similar emotional charge, But the Nirvana one blew everyone. In that night Kurt went from a rock star of the moment to a legendary icon
My favorite song reaction ever. You two are very insightful. I have always thought about this song the way Vin broke this down. So intelligent and in touch. Keep it coming.
I am so infatuated with your analysis. I love seeing other people analyze music and seeing different perspectives makes me see life in a different way. God bless, and thank you. The "there is always one person who won't go there or won't stay there or whatever" comment... yeah, that hit home. keep it real, homie. The look she gave you after you basically said you;re the pragmatist is comical, but you're not wrong. I'm so glad to see a relationship like this work, because it means I'm not alone in being in a relationship like this. God bless you both
The kids are innocent and feeling joy...when your heart is torn, seeing others in joy is crushing. His emotions seered...burned. I love That y'all are going this deep with it. Very cool!
Eddie Vedder is a special talent. He is alive and well, married in 2010, has two daughters, and he is as passionate as ever. Pearl Jam still tours every summer - they generally only do 6-10 shows a year in select markets - usually Chicago, Boston, Seattle. Their concerts are some of the best in the industry (imo) - they always change up their setlists, do a lot of one-off covers, have multiple unique art/prints/shirts for each show, play 3 hour+ shows. Pearl Jam band name. Eddie's "cool" great-grandmother (also my great-grandmother :-p) first name was Pearl and the band was named after her. The "story" is she married a Native American and made peyote jam and that is where the second part of the name comes from
I loved watching your faces once again. It’s so great when people listen to great music that I’ve thought was great since it was first released and see it’s greatness. This was their first album and they’ve just gotten better.
I saw them live around this same time. He sang just as intensely. Eddie has said its about first love relationship that begins w hope n all. I always guessed he meant her sexually n emotionally when you first desire someone n put your hopes for who they are on them. Taught her everything I thought how she might’ve been younger more naive n he showed her life she wouldn’t have known. Their “ true love” flames out- for her why it sears him. He sees her in everything. Kids laughing bother him as happiness then isn’t option. She leaves before he’s near ready to release their love. His world is black. 5 to be was five senses. Felt it in every part of himself. Then feeling of sorrow n anguish n anger when it ends before he’s grown as well. She’s grown away from him. So he laments not being w her like they were coupled w jealousy of her being w another. Young crazy love. I requested as well way back so thank you.
All I know is I'm glad Eddie fell in love again and moved past the woman who tore his heart apart in his 20's. He's been married since 2010 and they appear very happy. This performance is absolutely gut wrenching because you can literally feel his pain. I just watched him sing this song from a Summer 2022 concert and his voice is still amazing!
Amazing reaction and review. Absolutely love this song. You guys pointed out things that i would have never put together in the lyrics. I honestly believe that everything happens for a reason. There was a reason this relationship did not work and maybe this beautiful song was that reason. I also believe that some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. Sori I hope the little one is doing ok and praying for a safe delivery for you and the little one. Vin congrats and good luck with the new chapter of your lives. A very happy chapter to be sure. You guys are a beautiful family. Stay safe. With love from Tennessee!
I absolutely love you two breaking songs down together ❤ you really broke this down on a personal level 💔. Correct analysis on pain and suffering creating some of the most beautiful and classic pieces of art
"It's about first relationships and letting go. It's very rare for a relationship to withstand the Earth's gravitational pull and where it's going to take people and how they're going to grow. I've heard it said that you can't really have a true love unless it was a love unrequited. It's a harsh one, because then your truest one is the one you can't have forever.” -Eddie Vedder
Your assessment of "high octane" relationships was spot on, man. I finally experienced one for myself this summer. 3 months of the most intense stuff I've ever been exposed to. And, in the end....she walked just as suddenly as she had dove in with me. Now, im here....washed in black 😞😞😞
Black Unplugged is single handedly theeeeee best live performance ever!!!! The band is something you guys should definitely witness live... it’s an experience like no other
I believe the "5 horizons" meant as all of his senses revolved around her. Everything he touched, saw, heard, smelled and tasted reminded him of her. Idk just my own interpretation that I fell it made more sense to me. Eddie Vedder really put his whole being in all of his performances but this one? My God... Loved your reaction and your own interpretations of the lyrics.
I JUST BECAME A FAN OF PEARL JAM AFTER THIS REVIEW. I WAS IN 1ST GRADE WHEN THIS SONG CAME OUT. I DIDNT LIKE PEARL JAM GROWING UP. I'M ASHAMED TO SAY IT NOW. I'M MARRIED NOW TO A WOMAN WHO LOST HER DAUGHTER AT AGE 7. ABOUT 10 YEARS BEFORE I MEET HER. I CAN'T FULLY COMPREHEND HER PAIN. BECAUSE I'VE NEVER LOST A CHILD. I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS ONE OF THE MOST PAINFUL AND DIFFICULT THINGS TO DEAL WITH. "ALL I TAUGHT HER WAS EVERYTHING". MADE ME THINK OF HOW YOUR CHILD IS TAUGHT EVERTHING BY THEIR PARENTS. "ALL I'LL BE" BRINGS ME TO HOW YOUR LEGACY LIVES ON THROUGH YOUR OFFSPRING. SEEING CHILDREN PLAYING AND FEELING THEIR LAUGHTER. BUT FEELING SEARED. TODAY WAS THE FIRST TIME I ACTUALLY LISTENED TO THE WORDS AND MEANING OF THE SONG. I CRIED TO THINK OF HOW MUCH PAIN SHE FELT THEN AND STILL ON GOING TODAY. I WISH I COULD TAKE THAT PAIN FROM HER AND MAKE IT DISAPPEAR. THANK YOU VIN AND SORI FOR REVIEWING THIS SONG. THANKYOU PEARL JAM FOR THIS PERFORMANCE. THANKYOU EDDIE VEDDER FOR THE LYRICS, AND EMOTIONAL PERFORMANCE. YOU HAVE BROUGHT ME A LITTLE CLOSER TO MY WIFE. IN A WAY I'M GLAD THAT I JUST NOW UNDERSTOOD THIS SONG LATER IN MY LIFE. BECAUSE I THINK IT HAS A DEEPER MEANING TO ME NOW.
First, I always love your reactions. This band has been a huge part of my life. Pearl Jam saved my life at 14, I'm 42 now. Their song Jeremy literally stopped me in the midst of taking my own life. I will always be grateful and literally have the lyrics framed in my room. They're a very rare talent, especially the voice of Eddie Vedder. Brilliance at its finest. 💜
As a music fan and empath, it's always really obvious when an artist is exorcising some real sh*t through their music, this is some of the realest...I feel this song in my bones
Yes It's Me Again!! You just getting started. Again I'm 57 years old and started to feel like my Father during the 80s(as far as the Rock genre goes) Then I Heard Nirvana, my ear perked up but wasn't Totally convinced. Then I heard Alice in Chains WOW! DESPITE the fact that these bands were packaged by Corporate America. They were So different in many ways But they All didn't have to hide behind a show and makeup!! They sang and played with feeling and emotion and didn't hide behind superficial bullshit because they were for Real!! Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, and Eddie Vedder stripped me from my wall. Along with their voices, the musicianship was impeccable!! But as long as you're talking about Pearl Jam and Live Performances! PLEASE CHECK OUT Pearl Jams tribute to Bob Dylan Live doing "MASTERS OF WAR "!! WATCH THAT!!

the album version of this is much better...
AIC - Nutshell (unplugged)
Nirvana - Where did you sleep last night (unplugged)
5 Horizons - north, south, east, west and the heavens. No matter where he looked, she was there.

All 5 horizons I'm thinking all the senses. All 5 senses: Sight, Hearing, Touch, Taste, and Smell.
Exactly.
North east south West and straight up into the sky?
Horizons also relate to soil depth ...
That is so insightful. Wow! ☺☺☺
I mainly listen to metal, but this Pearl Jam album was so heavy lyrically , they put something amazing together 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Ten was one the perfect albums. There's not a bad song on it. Most albums have half bad and half good. If that.
Listening to Vin speak about this song makes me appreciate it more. Such deep lyrics I overlooked.
I agree
How can someone overlook the lyrics of this song?? Grunge is all about lyrics.
I was totally into extreme metal till the late 20s then with age, we started moving backwards to classic rock ( I play bass for couple of bands...nothing big...just few middle aged long haired guys having a good time)
For Nirvana, I guess you need to be in that scene to appreciate their music, glam metal was possibly the worst genre of music, which they wiped out...if you listen closely... without any prejudice, you may appreciate the brutal honesty about their songs...yes, they took punk style of approach in many of their songs...which may not sound very musical but they were very very honest about the music.
Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell were good friends. You absolutely must see Vedder performing this song in honor of Chris' passing.
Arthur Corenzan that's a really emotionally one, when he starts singing come back at the end
I bet you all cried at this moment cause I did. And I don’t care about Titanic, Hatiko nor onions
Yup his daughter sing one of his songs that was very emotional to what about Kurt Cobain he was awesome unplugged
Is there video of that? Or how is full name of the video,so I will check it out and see? :) Thank you :)

Also another great Unplugged Performance is NIRVANA, WHERE DID YOU SLEEP LAST NIGHT my opinion the best unplugged performance KURT'S SCREAM AT THE END GIVE ME CHILL BUMPS EVERY TIME
He opens his eyes and you can see his soul leave his body
Lake of Fire, I know a lot of people hated on him for doing a cover, but they did amazing performance
@@terryducote haha
So much yes
Omg I would die 😭 i was definitely born too late. 92, actually. I would do anything for a time machine to be at that scene! Come get me, Doctor!! Lol
@@adriannadavis8734 Life in general was better, it's not nostalgia, it was better.
Eddie was pretty tough in a lot of ways, smart as well, and he wanted to know things so he didn't die.
You are a luck duck! I am so jealous... but good for you man.
Hats off!
Pearl jam is amazing listen to more!
I wonder if the line " five horizons" refers to the five senses sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound. So the sun set on all the senses that reminds him of her.
That’s probably it Fa Shaw !!
East. West. North.
@@paulsmith2516 I always took it that way, too.
It's a metaphor for the 5 senses
eddie's voice is so powerful and raw I love it .. gives me chills
Even after all these years, whenever Eddie performs this song, you can still hear the sadness in his voice.
Someone asked me who Eddie sounded like. My answer is Eddie. He's unique.
Exactly. The guy wrote the book on the 90s rock sound. Everyone else was trying to be Eddie Vedder.
To me he sounds like a steam train with poor breaks.
@@henrikibsen6258 ah, bad ears have been the plight of many, many before you.
@@TenMillionYearProgram42 I can see how you are misled. I don't mean screachy. I mean immense and threatening. My wording is to blame.
Jo Thomas then i see where you’re coming from!
Alice In Chains. I stay away. Or Pearl Jam elderly woman behind the counter in a small town.
Tyler Helton absolutely, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter is such a good song... so is I Stay Away... good suggestion.
Yea man, Elderly Woman is incredible.
This is awesome. And very happy you mentioned "Sad"!
Pearl Jam as ever, forever.
Unpretentious.
That. Is. Vedder and PJ alright.
Very true, und ich bin auch aus Deutschland.
It’s so refreshing to see finally see a reaction that appreciates how timeless and insanely amazing this song and performance is. Thank youuuuuu
Where did you sleep last night-Nirvana Unplugged, only performance I can think of that competes with this
jup, it's insane
Yes Kurt pours his soul into that.
This is better still
Agreed
gripenfelter Nope, may be this is a more difficult so sing, but it's very difficult to watch that Nirvana song live
Pearl Jam - Porch [Pinkpop 1992]
Yes. Even tho i want syetem of a down - mind i would happily wait if they also do porch at pinkpop and his stage dive
They already rated Jeremy best song ever, Black unplugged as the best acoustic/live performance, might as well react to Porch so they can see one of the most powerful concert performances ever...
Tho to be fair looking at the comment section, i think might have to wait for that grunge song and listen to a grunge song from another amazing band
This needs to happen.
Pinkpop 1992 was truly a great show, but I was 9 at that time... so grateful to UA-cam
There is just a raw emotion to Eddie Vedder you don't get often with singers.
Maynard James Keenan, Corey Taylor, Aaron Lewis, Chino Moreno and Sam Carter have left the chat.
He sometimes looks like he is going into an epileptic seizure
@@weth3people137 Also Jeff Buckley, Chris Cornell and Layne Staley
The entire with grunge is that it evolves around unhealthy emotional places in people. It makes for some beautiful music, but trying to live it is apparently a very difficult life if you look at the amount of deaths among its players. The highs and lows are so far apart with not enough just being content. Getting to wrapped up in your own feelings isn't the place we need to live.
Thank you for a beautiful reaction to the greatest live performance of all time. This is what pain looks and sounds like.
“I didn’t understand everything he was singing in the first verse” ...welcome to listening to Pearl Jam 😂
Artist loses muse
Opera man lol
Welcome to grunge.
You must be def. Get hearing aids... Eddie vedder sings crystal clear
Listen.
Pearl Jam - Even Flow (its about homeless)
One of my favorites.
Alice in Chains - Nutshell (unplugged)!!
Yes!!!!
Unplugged!!! The sound of bass is God's...
An amazing Live performance.
Another amazing must see is Perfect Circle - 3 Libras on Leno
I prefer down in a hole
My man was 100% speechless at the end... 😂 Love it!
OMG, That Eddie could NOT be any better, that was the BEST I've EVER seen.! I could watch him over and over and over OMG !
I second that!
"Where did you sleep last night" from Nirvana's Unplugged!
I've been listening to this song for 25 years and it still gives me the chills. That's what PJ is about.
Can’t go wrong with any unplugged performance from Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice In Chains!!!
I was kinda blessed to get Eddie to ask me... "do you want to ask me something?"
"yes", i said, "i know north south east and west, but whats the fifth horizon?" he just pointed with his finger to the sky.
LoudLove to all of you!

Black is such a legendary song jesus f*cking christ one of my favorites that’s for sure
Ten was so great.....but after that they lost me though I still like it...
Hail from Seattle.
yeah this this song just hits one of the deepest places in a way that few if any other songs do. Really a great performance too.
you guys did an amazing job breaking down this song through your view. well done.
Alice in Chains - Nutshell (Unplugged)
I don't think I can recommend the MTV unplugged of Nutshell. Layne is in a very bad place, and you can hear it in his voice.
That show is 10/10 the emotion portrayed is pure art
@@BrokenGodEnt Layne being in a bad place makes the performance haunting and impactful. The unplugged version is pure raw emotion!
I want them to jam to angry chair!😆🤘
Alice In Chains Unplugged is the best Unplugged ever!! Nutshell or Down in. Hole! This Unplugged was amazing as well! You should really watch it from beginning to end it’s only a half hour and Eddie and the boys kill it! The ending of this song is amazing when he ad libs “ we belong together “ amazing!
what?
andré pereira what?
"we belong together"- that line wasn't there in the album version (Ten)
That's one of the all time best lyrical performances IMO. Pearl Jam killed Unplugged.
Black is one of my All time faves..and I loved eddie's raw emotions in this song...brings a lot out of this song. Just hits the Spot
Greatest live performance of all time. Could not agree more.
Can’t wait to see your scores. This is easily one of my top 3 Pearl Jam songs. and Go!
I love your reaction at the end of the song when you look at each other and feel that you just went through some heavy shit!
Overlooking the "I"m spinnin, ohohoh, I'm spinin,...
As the Earth to the Sun.
Subscribed
BLACK is my favorite Pearl Jam song also. Your analysis on this song is very good.
5 horizons = the 5 senses.
I completely agree. Lyrically, Eddie is phenomenal. I Am Mine, In My Tree, Off He Goes, Given To Fly, Indifference....just to name a few.
Bugs?
I absolutely love the way you guys dissect these songs! The analogies you bring up I have either said or it's a totally different aspect than what I was originally thinking of.
Been listing to this song for about 15 years now, almost every week- you guys did an amazing job reacting this this song- not right or wrong - it’s just poetry and everyone will interpret it how they feel it- it’s funny that this guy is more of a soul/spiritual one and the girl is the literal one
Jeremy and Black are both from their album Ten. That album is amazing!
I think you guys might like Jeff Buckley. Super talented guy who left the world too soon (like so many others) I'd recommend the song "Grace"
I second this Jeff Buckley recommendation
Grace, mojo pin, lover you should’ve come over.
Yes!
Absolutely!!!!
the version from mystery white boy always blows my mind, the crescendo is absolutely bonkers. his cover of "the way young lovers do" too.
To me Nirvana's Where did you sleep lastnight UNPLUGGED to me is better KURT'S SCREAM AND STARE AT THE END SENDS CHILLS UP MY SPINE every time
Brandon Elkin Yes, that song!!!
That stare is one of the most haunting things I have ever seen caught on camera.
The "story" is she married a Native American and made peyote jam and that is where the second part of the name comes from
Always thought pearl jam was code for sperm.
I always thought that they "jammed" (aka rocked out) on a set of Pearl drums (the brand Pearl)
That's poetry the best live song I've ever heard and it was 27 years ago
God I love you 2. I've watched about 300 reaction channels, and I've never seen anything even close to comparable to what yall do here. Thank you.
One of the BEST WRITTEN AND PREFORMED songs ever. The best touring band that's STILL TOURING, RECORDING AND GIVING THEIR ALL TO THEIR FANS.
It's a harsh one, because then your truest one is the one you can't have forever.”
-Eddie Vedder
Your assessment of "high octane" relationships was spot on, man. I finally experienced one for myself this summer. 3 months of the most intense stuff I've ever been exposed to. And, in the end....she walked just as suddenly as she had dove in with me.
Now, im here....washed in black 😞😞😞
how are you feeling man, hope everything's better
i'm brazilian and this was the best react i ever watched from this song
Black Unplugged is single handedly theeeeee best live performance ever!!!! The band is something you guys should definitely witness live... it’s an experience like no other
I believe the "5 horizons" meant as all of his senses revolved around her. Everything he touched, saw, heard, smelled and tasted reminded him of her. Idk just my own interpretation that I fell it made more sense to me. Eddie Vedder really put his whole being in all of his performances but this one? My God... Loved your reaction and your own interpretations of the lyrics.
Alice In Chains-Nutshell unplugged
One more vote for Alice In Chains unplugged “Nutshell”, please
One of my favorite performances ever
You simply can't watch the reactions of others when Eddie's beautiful face is onscreen... *Release* is another fantastic PJ song.
Seen Pearl Jam a few times, lived in Seattle in 1980s and 1990s. Eddie Vedders song writing can't be beat! Plus he's passion when performing!
Yeah it was the best emotional live performance done
This is why I miss early and mid 90's
