Great job with the video, short & simple for anyone to follow along! I got a question; I’ve read that the air within the hose that comes along with refrigerant can contains oxygen and water vapor that can damage the ac system. With professional installations where a vacuum pump is used to drain the system of any moisture this concern is non existent. Can you maybe explain whether that little air present within the hose is capable of causing damage and maybe provide an update on the car featured in this video? Thank you in advance and sorry about the excessively long question lol.
No worries about that tiny bit of air in the hose. This car's AC still works great. Have done this same process with no negative effects on many cars. Just be sure not to overfill as I mentioned and youll be fine. I also have a video on vacuuming system before. That way you can add back exact amount for car. Just use a scale 👍 Vacuuming video- ua-cam.com/video/hkjZNDyxvgo/v-deo.html Vacuuming with AC stop leak & refill refrigerant- ua-cam.com/video/6xbnUd649Es/v-deo.html
Shaking the can is to mix in the lubricating oil and the seal conditioners, important parts of the system, especially if you're losing charge slowly over time
I like that Spidey jump in the beginning. Very good video and straight to the point. I'm thinking of doing this myself as they will charge 200 bucks to take it in. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing this video. One important thing to consider before buying your ac recharge is to check the location of your "L" cap ( mine was very difficult to reach) The hose wasn't long enough to press the handle and read the gauge easily. You really made it so easy that I could believe I could do it myself as well and I did it. Thanks again 🙏
Thank ya, Thank ya, bro. You have been a very big help. Haven't seen anyone do as good as a job you did explain steep by steep instructions on how to. Well Done Bro. Keep up the GOOD work.

I was about to spend $180 at the mechanic today but I said to myself that makes no sense.. let me hop on UA-cam and see these car guys do it and holy fuck.. I'm bout to head up to Canadian tire and spend my $65
@@animal9470 nice save some money. They're not scammers. The job they'll do is a little more to it than this and more time. Vacuum and collect old refrigerant and then test system and refill.
Okay so now to the store to buy a thermometer to put in my vent! Thanks, I’m trying to teach my son how to do this (he is turning 16). But I gotta act like I know what I’m doing first lol
If you used a full can and still somewhat warm, the system may have been really low. If system was completely empty you would need to vacuum out air, but if a little in it may just be low still. Should be sticker on inside of hood that'll tell you the ounces of refrigerant used for car, usually around 2 lbs (32oz) or less
Thank you for your video. When I finished I noticed quite a bit if water under my car. Would this be considered normal ? Also oddly enough the gauge would stay on the sand spot without rising
One mistake You didn’t purge the house to get air out of the hose. That air in the hose has moisture so you put all that air into yr system. You barely squeeze the trigger until a little refrigerant is coming out then you connect it to the fitting
when you put the hose on it went in the red I did the samething it went in the red to but when you started the car it went green I had the car started when I out the hose on it still went red not green is there something am doing wrong
Follow directions on the can! This doesn't show/tell that the vehicle should be in the shade, with all doors open and the vehicle started before beginning recharge. These are directions right on the can.

@@eatnation A little bit of guessing game this way. I'd just add slowly until cool. You can check sticker on underside of hood for refrigerant amount, but that'd be more helpful on refilling an empty system. I have video where I show vacuuming and refilling, that's the most accurate way because you can weigh cans with scale ua-cam.com/video/6xbnUd649Es/v-deo.htmlsi=5fvkLP0qRxUfYuec
Love your videos, thanks so much! I’m blessed with a 2003 Toyota Corolla (original owner, always been garaged) that's NEVER needed any repairs (110,000 miles), but surely the A-C will start to get "tired." While many components can fail, I'm guessing it's common for a pinhole leak to occur, in which case simply re-filling the system as you demonstrate does not fix the problem, only band-aid it. And sure, "Judgment Day" is no doubt coming for my mighty Corolla's A-C system down here in South Georgia. So, can you provide a link to any "leak remedy" product that you recommend (this would be after, of course, checking for any connections that worked themselves loose, then tightening them)? Same question for any "system rejuvenation" products (I've been told that internal seals dry out, things get gunked up, etc., so if there's something relatively cheap that owners can do to rejuvenate their system before surrendering to a mechanic, I'm all in!). I'm hoping that there's a refill product containing leak-plugging stuff in it (but maybe I'm just wildly fantasizing). I could swear I've heard of someone remedying their failed A-C system this way. Thanks again!
You're welcome. Yes when a car gets older it usually starts slowly leaking out refrigerant from either worn O rings on all the various connections or from compressor itself. You can try adding some AC stop leak refrigerant when recharging if you have a very slow leak. Here's a link to product Ive had luck with. amzn.to/2DpUVOQ And here's a link to a video I made demonstrating the proper way to use it. ua-cam.com/video/6xbnUd649Es/v-deo.html
I have a 2000 Corolla with almost 300K on it ...all original and no major repairs thus far. Just plugs, injectors,. ignition coils and a valve cover gasket and an air intake gasket.
I was trying to do this earlier before watching videos, and when I put it on, it gave me a pressure reading, but I just couldn't figure out how to get it to go in (Mine has a lock on the top instead of a trigger) When I went back to it, it wouldn't give me a pressure reading at all. Any idea why this is?
Make sure taking pressure readings with engine running and AC on. I'm thinking the nozzle may not be on all the way, try taking on off couple times. And if your hose has a screw down top you need to turn it clockwise to drive it down and open can
@@JonnyDIY thanks for the reply! Turns out my fiddling around earlier had gotten the pressure to be very low and the gauge wasn't reading right, but once I started putting some in, it fixed it self and it feels great now
Hello - read that hose has air with moisture inside so just connecting for basic charging and just pushing trigger one is injecting both r134a and air/moisture in ac system with moisture bad for system. Why not trigger can slightly as first pushing connector down onto port so some of air/moisture is removed first from hose?
My hyundai just started blowing out hot air today, I'm going to have to try to find one of these and see if it'll work for whatever is wrong with my AC.
@@JonnyDIY I got it recharged but it's still blowing out hot air, I was told to take it to a mechanic, who told me the whole air system needs to be replaced which will cost around $1,500. And my car broke down today while I was driving, the positive connector to the battery is loose and the battery light, the steering wheel light and the engine oil light all came on red and I couldn't steer my car, which is the first time that's ever happened.

Just use a scale 👍

Quick question: Before I add the refrigerant, the reading is already in the red. Should I relieve some pressure and add it back? Thanks!
Make sure you check pressure reading with car on and AC on and blowing. It shouldn't be overcharged unless someone overfilled it

You're welcome, happy I could help you out 👍 Thank you for subscribing!
Thanks, I used the whole can and temp only read about 60......should I get another or wait until later to fill it up?
If you used a full can and still somewhat warm, the system may have been really low. If system was completely empty you would need to vacuum out air, but if a little in it may just be low still. Should be sticker on inside of hood that'll tell you the ounces of refrigerant used for car, usually around 2 lbs (32oz) or less
You can slowly add more from another can until it gets to around 45-50 degrees, just go slow may only need 1/2 can more
Can I tell you that I love you?! 🤣🤣😭Thanks you so much for this!!! No yapping. Just straight to the point.🙌🏾 It better be as easy as it looks LOL

Thank you for your video. When I finished I noticed quite a bit if water under my car. Would this be considered normal ? Also oddly enough the gauge would stay on the sand spot without rising
You're welcome. Did the air temperature get colder from vents? Yes A/C produces condensation so that's normal. It drains under car 👍
@@JonnyDIY Yes it got cold, and awesome thank you !! I wanted to make sure I didn’t overdo it but it was on the green overall.

It took about ten minutes so don't worry if it seems to take a while. I used the Prius video but similar to this one. Thank you.
You're very welcome, glad to hear you got it! 🙌👍
One mistake You didn’t purge the house to get air out of the hose. That air in the hose has moisture so you put all that air into yr system. You barely squeeze the trigger until a little refrigerant is coming out then you connect it to the fitting
Thanks for sharing, yes you can purge the line 👍

when you put the hose on it went in the red I did the samething it went in the red to but when you started the car it went green I had the car started when I out the hose on it still went red not green is there something am doing wrong
It's possible that the nozzle wasn't seated on connection correctly. Either that or system possible overfilled.
How do you know if it needs charged? Mine is blowing cool but not as cool as it once did. I'm so terrified to overfill I hardly added any.
If its still comfortably cool I'd leave it, if a little warm just add little bursts til cool 👍
When I see a video like this I give a like right away just right to the point don’t mess around..
Thank you! Glad to help 👍
Follow directions on the can!
This doesn't show/tell that the vehicle should be in the shade, with all doors open and the vehicle started before beginning recharge. These are directions right on the can.

Great video...but how so you know when it's full or that you have put enough in
@@eatnation A little bit of guessing game this way. I'd just add slowly until cool. You can check sticker on underside of hood for refrigerant amount, but that'd be more helpful on refilling an empty system. I have video where I show vacuuming and refilling, that's the most accurate way because you can weigh cans with scale

Love your videos, thanks so much!
I’m blessed with a 2003 Toyota Corolla (original owner, always been garaged) that's NEVER needed any repairs (110,000 miles), but surely the A-C will start to get "tired."
While many components can fail, I'm guessing it's common for a pinhole leak to occur, in which case simply re-filling the system as you demonstrate does not fix the problem, only band-aid it.

And here's a link to a video I made demonstrating the proper way to use it.

Toyota Corolla is not a car. It's a heavenly chariot that does not break down. - Toyota Corolla Matrix owner.

Did this work for you?
Hello - read that hose has air with moisture inside so just connecting for basic charging and just pushing trigger one is injecting both r134a and air/moisture in ac system with moisture bad for system. Why not trigger can slightly as first pushing connector down onto port so some of air/moisture is removed first from hose?
Yes you can do that. Called purging the line of air 👍
bro you lowkey look like Jack Harlow 😂
My hyundai just started blowing out hot air today, I'm going to have to try to find one of these and see if it'll work for whatever is wrong with my AC.
@@queenphoenix1133 🤞 hope it works for you 👍
@@JonnyDIY I got it recharged but it's still blowing out hot air, I was told to take it to a mechanic, who told me the whole air system needs to be replaced which will cost around $1,500. And my car broke down today while I was driving, the positive connector to the battery is loose and the battery light, the steering wheel light and the engine oil light all came on red and I couldn't steer my car, which is the first time that's ever happened.
