Chris, this is hands down the best written and presented explanation video on a topic I've ever seen. Script, pacing, presentation, content, delivery. It's all A+
This is fantastic. Good work. I have loved my Osmose since the moment I purchased it. That being said, I hope Expressive E will continue to develop Osmose with standalone users in mind. I do not plug Osmose into a computer. I plug it into my MPC. I utilize the gorgeous sounds and unparalleled expressiveness of the hardware device I purchased. I hope Expressive E will continue to reward customers who purchased the coolest hardware synthesizer ever made.
That's incredibly kind and motivating! Don't worry we have very exciting news coming for standalone users soon-ish. We'll keep improving Osmose over the years :)
You need to check which MIDI CC is sent by the currently selected MIDI config preset of Osmose for the mod slider. You will find this info in the External MIDI Mode -> adjust menu -> controllers tab. Then activate the "remote" box for USB MIDI port 1 of Osmose in Ableton Live's MIDI settings. The Ableton Live MIDI mapping will work then.
Hi, it's not possible to use the Osmose knobs to send MIDI to an external plugin/hardware for now. We consider this for a firmware upgrade in the future.
This is perfect, Chris - thank you very much for the fine details. My only question after searching around both Synapse Audio and Expressive-E websites: at 9:06 you mention the Blur MPE soundbank you have crafted for The Legend HZ -- is this soundset currently available yet for purchase? or is this yet to come either through SA or EE? Thanks again!
Mistake is on us... the bank will be released very soon but we were too excited about this Ableton tuto! We pressed the button a bit too soon. Stay tuned on December 4th. :)
In this case, you would need to decide whether you wish to integrate Osmose's internal sound engine OR use Osmose as a controller for external gear. By default, DIN MIDI sends the same signal as the USB MIDI Port 1 (ext midi), so you can use Osmose as a controller straight away. For the integration of the internal sound engine it's more complicated, you would need to choose "5/5 cvc" for the "din mode" in the midi I/o tab of Osmose's global settings to make Osmose send the USB MIDI Port 2 (haken port) data on the DIN MIDI out.

Precise and concise as usual Chris!
Very clear tutorial! I dont even have an Osmose but i definetly want to get one!
Just in time, as an Ableton user who ordered the Osmose on Black Friday 🖤
Timing is key for a music instrument brand haha!
Perfect, thanks Chris!
Thanks Chris. Always ready to help us.

How do i connect the mod wheel of the osmose to a parameter in ableton?

Is it possible to assign parameter values from a soft-synth or plugin to the osmose`'s 4 knobs in midi mode?

@ExpressiveE Sounds promising :)

Can you do this without a USB cable? Just midi DIN?

Thanks! Now do CUBASE :-)
