In the animation you really see how utterly illogical it is for this grown man to crawl inside a girl's backpack. like how does he fit in there?? *shh magic* lol
The funniest part is she does eventually start getting some of her questions answered, at least a little, but it’s from a demon/fallen angel, who also the first adult to actually give her some straight answers and tell her the Harvestmen are a cult and she shouldn’t be listening to them.
Well technically the first person to answer the question was a demon inside of a fire at the skate park whose answer was. "People cause suffering onto themselves." Which honestly I think is a good if not horrifying answer.
I love the fact that Kristens entire believe got shattered because her god didn't have the answer to one of the hardest questions when asked on the spot.
Honestly, Kirsten probably would've stayed Corn God (at least depending on whether he genuinely makes gay people go to hell) if Helio just gave her an honest answer and didn't try to avoid the question.
Helio’s literally chosen to embody a thought-terminating cliche. Already he’s caused more harm than any presumed good in one’s life (especially Kristen). Personally, I’m not gonna give any “grace” to a self-appointed paragon who’s a literal God-complex.
It’s not about the fact that he didn’t have an answer, it’s that he *refused* to give one. Helio didn’t say “I don’t have an answer” he SAID “later” and VANISHED 😂
At 3:19 is the face of a god who doesn't know that he has sent his (unreplacable) chosen prohet on a path of doubt that ultimately ends with him chosen-less.
I love that the "later" could have just been a passing joke about the nature of religious 'blind faith' and what it asks of you, but it literally shaped Kristen's whole arc.

I had been planning to make another D20 animatic ever since I finished my last one, but I've had difficulty finding the time to work on it (and any time I did work on it, I would end up restarting lol). The thing is Helio was actually pretty chill and sweet in this interaction and Ally would just go on to categorize him as a “frat bro” and hate him based off this… Brennan went along with it and would for the next several seasons entertain their wish washy attitude towards various deities, but I always kind of wished he played Helio a bit more “hey where is this assessment of me coming from? I was nothing but nice to you” for a bit to give them more reason to actually hate them

This is harder to watch all things considered in junior year: Kristen gets yoked, turns party animal, runs for student body on populist rhetoric, is dangerously close to failing all her classes, and her girlfriend dumps her for being emotionally immature, inconsiderate, and unavailable for a fear of commitment. See, Kristen immediately broke it off with Helio when she met him and found out he was kinda a frat boy… but that’s what she’s turned into.

I’ll be honest I’ve only ever imagined the corn god as an actually talking stalk of corn, so when Helio came down in this vid I honestly got a bit confused.
Keep up the good work and if you’re finally having doubts, remember this, we have these all the time and if we cannot control it, we just took a break walk away from it all and probably take a nap.
