CoD: Modern Warfare vs Insurgency: Sandstorm Weapon Comparison (PC Max Settings)

- Which game has the better weapon audio and animations - the overhauled AAA giant Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or the overlooked FPS underdog, Insurgency: Sandstorm?
Equipment and launchers: 11:24
Key info:
Modern Warfare gameplay was captured with the dynamic home theater audio setting. All graphical settings were set to the highest possible for both games. Motion blur, film grain, depth of field, all that kind of stuff was turned off. Field of view was set to 100 for both games.
Some of the weapons and equipment do not match exactly, but they are close enough that a useful comparison can be made. Modern Warfare's gunsmith system allows for a gun to be customized enough to where it basically becomes a different gun, which I used to compare certain guns, like the M16. - Ігри
Insurgency : Bob Ross reloadings
MW : VIOLENCE, SPEED, MOMENTUM
Lucas C. Lmaoo but i like it that way in cod it shows you the soldier in a real war situation
@@moonhyper7607 No way COD is realistic. In real life if people tried reloading at that speed and force they would end up hitting the sides of the mag well most of the time.
Tinkle Ass In cod they are special forces so they just go tactical reload. Don’t you say to me that you haven’t seen a spetsnaz operator fast reloading the AK
@@TinkleAssify those motions were actually recorded by a human so the speed is totally possible
Carba 99 I didnt say cod was realistic at all hell its an arcade game but these reloadings are totally do able
11:24 - 11:40
lol
MW is actually very exaggerated in terms of camera wobbling and all that, It's a beast in it's own way, And so insurgency. Both games have pristine quality animations. But i gotta mention how much detail is on the l85A2 for sandstorm When he pushes the bolt forward like irl.
I don't really get why they went for the L85A1 in Modern Warfare though... why not the A2 version.
And why is it classified as an LMG?
@@NyteMyre I know I'm a month late, but there's a version of the SA80 that's an LMG
Insurgencys animations are so disappointing though. The relaxed nature of it is wayyy too casual and clunky
@@metalhead522 He didn't show the Speed reload ones. The speed reload animation are really damn good and have a feel of urgency and pressure to them.
I thought it was a L86
Insurgency: *reloads slowly and carefully*
Cod: *_I A M S P E E D_*
enemy: aiming the weapon at the player
insurgency player: "wait, I'm still reloading"
Fun IS fact: if you fire one of at 50 cal snipers as fast as you can your characters hearing will be fucked up for a bit. Also if you go to training then select range you dont have to do this in actual servers, it'll be quiet and every weapon in the game will be avialable on a table or from the menu
Dude no matter what gun you shoot IRL there will always be tenitis but its a cool feture and i want to mention i think sandstorms better than cod
audio wise mw sounds punchy and cool but insurgency is so spot on with the realism
You missed that almost every weapon in Sandstorm has 4 reload animations: half mag, slow full reload, drop mag, quick full reload
And you also missed all of the quick reloads from MW19
That's some unfinished work, mate
Thanks you for that great comparison
Having used the L85 the modern warfare users handling of the weapon is triggering.
I like that the Insurgency guy tap forward assists, even if it’s pointless with the A2
modern warfare's are great but sandstorm passes the vibe check
SnowEdwin dude in sandstorm pulls the slide back on the glock when loading a new mag. Definitely failed the vibe check
Metalhead no
Luckily i have both games, both have unique gameplay according to their intention genre
and target audience, e.g. 13 year olds in cod and dudes in the army that dont yet have ptsd for sandstorm.
Insurgency normal soldier, MW soldier on steroids.
@Aleksandar Ninković so Insurgency is not your type of game for sure, cod is arcady and casual (I mean the depth). Insurgency is between milsim and arcade. If a milsim players want to chill they play Insurgency and btw if a game is slow doesn't mean it is boring, there are a group/community loves slow paced, methodical game with more depth.
Who would've thought adrenaline was a thing...
why dont people use the corvus custom barrel on the m4a1 when they compare it to an m16 in another game
I made this on release night, so I just went with the more obvious M16 barrel. But as for other videos, maybe they didn't check each barrel to see which matched best and just went with the M16 one for simplicity.
@@SovernGaming oh ok thats understandable its a great video regardless but was just curious
Funny thing you didn't show how rocket launchers shows the explosions before the sounds when you hit something far in insurgency.
I thought it was awesome!
Thats actually in MW too
@@camgumby1 That's nice that companies actually start to take sound seriously!
In MW smaller arms looks punchy but a PKM looks recoilless when ADS?
I think that's cuz hes got good recoil control
It is 1am and I am eating Ramen what am I doing with life
In my opinion Insurgency wins in most reload animations and all explosives, MW wins in all reload sound effects and most firing animations.
Weapon sounds are kind of 50/50 though.
Sandstorms reloads are too relaxed and clunky. Like nah you’re definitely not in a firefight take your time
@@metalhead522 you ever tried to reload a weapon fast under pressure? It ain't work
i do like MW sounds in isolation, but i have a bit of a fetish for bass. insurgency sounds like an actual battlefield though.
Don't forget that Insurgency Sandstorm have accurate model, while in COD MW19 some guns model are weird, because they don't have huge guts to pay the license
stop throwing away half full mags and keeping the empty ones!
also at 11:08 what part of that reflex sight not remind you of the kobra?
insurgency sandstorms weapons, sounds and animations cant be beat.
Not true. Look at the Uzi in *IS* they didn't even add the small delay before it fires. MW got that detail perfectly. Also the reloads in *IS* are way too slow imo. They did add the cocking animation for the RPG tho not many game i've played has that. When it comes to animation I personally prefer MW. That FAL animation where he looks at the chamber to see if it has completely cycled or jammed is really cool imo. When it comes to sounds there even imo. The bigger calibers in *MW* sounds better but then you have the godlike MP5 sound in *IS*
@@HeavyMetalfan21 mw reloads are a lot punchier. although it is always funnier considering how according to the animations you have a bunch of mags magically glued to your chest rather than in actual pouches around the waste. also remember, those guns are a bunch of steel. theyre heavy. MW doesnt really show that.
0:50 keeps the empty mag and throws the one with bullets left lmao
Yeah it’s weird in a realism sense. I understand the point of a tactical reload but I would rarely discard a mag if it had rounds left in real life. Just chuck It down the front of my jacket
@@gooddoggo3547 of course. Like i said, I understand a tactical reload. However reloading like that means than no matter what you are 30 bullets down, unless you plan on finding that mag you chucked away. The game still says you have the rounds in the discarded mag, this is stupid and unrealistic.
@@MiketheMadness um what are you trying to say??
@@MiketheMadness you can do a fast reload anytime in insurgency by double clicking R
Its optional
To drop mags you need to (r-r)
To keep it (r)
Fuck that grenade in IS was the first in a video game that actually terrified me lol
is ww3 active?? probably throw bf3/4 into this comparison ur choice
Average concurrent player count for WW3 over the past 30 days was 83. So its not looking good; never bought it though. I thought about doing BF3 as well but it doesn't come anywhere close to these games in the visual department, and the audio, though great, has a very distinctive sound that doesn't compare well to these two games. I don't know how to describe it - it's just really different (and lower quality). I don't have access to BF4 anymore unfortunately (longish story) and don't want to buy it again. But thanks for suggestion!
@@SovernGaming damn hopefully ww3 on console will do good
The grenade animations for sandstorm are a lot better than COD.
I noticed there's almost no horizontal movement for most guns. I know first hand that guns like that ak74su pull hard to the left.
Recoil looks alot better in modern warfare but inaergency has way better explosives
A big part of Insurgency is managing recoil. A good demonstration of that would be to fire the long guns prone, especially the LMGs.
@@KraziEyevin what's your point?
recoil isnt a thing in MW. in insurgency its a thing to consider past 30 or so meters.
Every gun in MW has the same bass boosted jackhammer sound. Disappointing.
It actually sounds way different in this video compared to when I actually start the game and play on my own, I think it has to do with his recording or in game settings
Well it’s is explosion going off 100s of times per minute and they all use the same explosive gunpowder so of course they will sound the same
INSURGENCY SANDSTORM WINN
Gojira you shut up you
@@myusername3689 hey don't be mean. Is just his opinion at all

@@myusername3689 and now you deleted your comment
Madalin Sturzu yes because I am retarded.
13:33 Virgin Call Of Duty Thermite
13:43 Chad Sandstorm Incendiary Grenade
😂😂😂😂
Insurgency win
Frag Grenade in Insurgency Sandstorm is better. It works like how it would in real life.
if only it didn't kill him we could probably see the animation properly
@@crusanosicus562
Fun fact, In IS. if you view the grenade in slow motion, you can actually see flying fragments. I've even see them hit walls. It seems that it's not the explosion of the grenade that kills, it's these flying fragments.
Realism vise i think insurgency wins
Insurgency reloads look like they’re happening in slow motion lol, this is a war zone man not an afternoon on the range
1.) Insurgency Sandstorm characters aren't "Navy Seals Gorilla Warfare Experts." They're grunts, militiamen, advisors, PMC's, rebels, mercenaries etc. ripped from their homes and deployed into battle.
2.) This video showed a standard reload, they kind you do when you're thinking about ammo management, in IS, when you reload with a half-empty magazine it goes straight into your inventory, if you always reload with a half empty mag like in call of duty where you fire a couple of shots then reload, you will end up with a bunch of half-empty mags. IS's quick reload are much quicker but throws a half empty magazine away.
3.) COD:MW reload mechanics hasn't changed, they're still the same, "oh, i got interrupted in my reload animation, better start over from the beginning."
IS uses a staged reload mechanic, if you're interrupted when reloading, say, you ejected your magazine but has to switch a side arm because of the immediate danger, your magazine will not return to the gun, you will continue where you left off if you reload, your character will immediately pick up a fresh mag.
@Kanissa Gaming cod reloads are bound to be faster, the guys you play as represent the best of the best so yeah they'd be pretty good at it, plus the pace of the game kinda requires it
Well at least in Insurgency the weapons have friction between the parts. Imagine COD reloads in real life, the mag well would be missed most of the time. Maybe we're all too used to seeing fast reloads. The reloads in Insurgency actually feel realistic, if you utilise the speed reloads and normal reloads according to your situation.
@@johnzkeePW Have you ever reloaded a gun/rifle with a magazine? You won't reload that fast as in cod.. it takes time. Reaching for the mag and so on... unless you have been laying on the ground, behind a rock, trying to reload ur AK in 1 sec.. do that, then you can say urs.
I agree. They’re beautiful animations, but they’re weirdly calm and collected. Regardless of the timing of the actual reload, the character looks like he has no urgency.
Why is the reloading in mw so fast? It doesn't look good or smooth and kind of hurts my head.
My guess is they created the animations with the intention of a slower speed but sped them up for balancing reasons. Some of them look like the slight-of-hand perk is on even though it's not, and that could be why
Ur in a war zone...u dont reload slow
@@yonsetv5223 lol yeah you would.. you would probably drop your mag out of panic to
No one wants slow reloads lmao these animations where done by ex military people soooooooo
@@yonsetv5223 it looks sped up and doesn't look good. And sandstorms reloads are more realistic
Insurgency. MW feels weird with this jumpy camera action. Very robotic, as well as weapon reloads. Dont like it. Insurgency is much more natural in motion, love it.
Yikes, bad take
Medstone that’s really weird because the shaky cam is meant to make it less robotic. The camera shaking simulates the power behind the gun where as with no shaky cam the recoil can feel really fake
I agree with @@sillythygoose I think Insurgency is the one that feels robotic, the camera is too stable, it's like the body is unaffected by the sudden recoil and the reload animations feel slow and clunky tbh. Either way both are unique in terms of gunplay but I still would prefer insurgency for it's realism tho
Seems to be a competition between 2 seperate animation styles by 2 seperate animators. Might as well make it Hyper vs MrBrightSide rather than game vs game
Insurgency soldier
MW well trained soldier
TacticalJunkie yeah well trained sureeee. Lemme just take as much time as I can between inserting a new mag and charging it. No rush here.
MW: shotguns are air spray.
IS: shotguns are mid range snipers like irl.
MW: bass!!!!
IS: it's an open space so you get no bass!
the 725 in MW pre patch was the closest thing you'd get from a real life shotgun damage and range wise. Then they nerfed it thank god for that.
@@HeavyMetalfan21 nerfing gun's damage is stupid, in insurgency Sandstorm shotguns are 1 shot kills yet almost no one uses them. Just like irl they are not perfect or op.
@@HAWXLEADER I hate games that has airsoft as weapons. Tho the 725 was too good, I prefer my games to have a fast TTK. *THE* reason why I hate BO4 so much. 150 HP and you could use armor too yeah TTK was brutaly slow in that game.
Post gameplay
If I get some that's good enough maybe I will
Insurgency is better at everything!
staslog k no
@@sillythygoose interms of tactical pacing, yes.
Except recoil especially the pistol recoil it looks so unrealistic and weird
@@Otxtrapz7 lol
Insurgency SURE more REALISTIC. CoD 90% Arcade
Recoil looks better in mw
CoD: *throws away half empty mag bullets from mag that was thrown somehow comeback. Insurgency: *you lose the mag you lose the mag*
They only throw the magazines when they are empty, otherwise they keep them. Did you even watch the video?
insurgency sandstorm have better sound and animations
Héctor Contreras nah u trippin
@@erntfk9718 u gay turk
I liked the camera effects on MW. It's wayyyy better than IS
I don't think Modern Warfare's gun sounds are ever gonna lose. They sound recorded real weapons and used it for the sfx. If you don't believe me, watch the behind the scenes of the game.
Nah mw is way to bass boosted. Ak sounds like a 50 cal machine gun lol
Model: Modern Warfare(The rust on the guns make the game feel like real battle)
Reload: 50/50
Sounds: Sandstorm
Suppressed sounds: Modern Warfare(The sounds are more sastifying)
Gun mechanic: Sandstorm(+1 when tactical reload)
Overall: 50/50
MW animations are so choppy.
Gotta hate the shitty recoil pistols have in insurgency it’s not realistic
Gabriel I Have you ever fired a gun before?
deadpooled 1018 yes if u know how to fire a fire arm there ain’t no god damn recoil it especially 9mm.
Gabriel I Of course but when you mag dump it in a few seconds there’s gonna be some kickback
This kid has never fired a pistol before lmao
Arma 3 is better
Cod wep. sounds have always been... bad, srsly, it just sounds not right. Not a clear sound, lack of details.
For everyone saying insurgency has more realistic reloads please wipe that fanboy shit infront of your eyes away. It's not even an opinion but a fact that mw reloads look more realistic as how they reload in real life.
MW reloads are a little too quick and exaggerated, but they are right on par with Insurgency.
@@bradleydeans192 it fast pace . Look at farah mission if you want a realistic first time reload
@@nathanremix5800 instead of watching gameplay, why dont you watch head cam videos of soldiers. They reload even slower.
Arthur Morgan yeah I bet you own and have shot the weapons being shown lol 😂
Yeah, next time when writing pseudo smart comment about reloading, try to go on firing range.
Insurgency reload is unrealistic. No one reloads like that in battle. They would die before they can even rack the bolt.
It have fast reload also
K
303en oh ok
Ordinal League the most realistic part is the campaign mission involving the house raid.
yeah "unrealistic", lol. This is an actual reload in real life, skip to 2:49: ua-cam.com/video/aZyR2-_9Jwc/v-deo.html it takes way longer than even in insurgency
