I remember that there was a story where a German man came home with a wheelbarrow full of money The next day he woke up, he discover that someone broke into his house but the robber didn't still his money....but the wheelbarrow instead
I still remember this story from my grandma: She and her grandpa were in a train on the way to a hospital because there was a new born in the family. They had 2 suitcases filled with cash. @@kizugx At that time, it was Weimar Republic (it has almost the same system as today). Wehrmacht was established as Armed Forces (in german), and the republic became Third Reich (one party system dictatorship). In any case, inflation wouldn't effect debt payment, as it would adjust to it. Most of the time, the debt will be repaid through either foreign currency or outright traded goods.
France and UK: Seems like germany's having fun making lots of consumer goods Germany with civilian factories producing military equipment: Yes, so much fun
It's wrong. Germany was producing more consumer goods than military products. I do not know where historians believe they found evidence for this presumption that the Third Reich was preparing for WWII by industrial effort. When the Polish incursion began, the German army was stretched to its very limits. If the French would have persisted in their Saar Offensive, they could have defeated the Third Reich in those early September 1939 days right away. Portraying German war preparation in the years preceding WWII is a commonly echoed myth. What Hitler always had on his mind then was to approach some kind of equalisation in military strength. He had a treaty with Britain on a ratio of British to German naval power, for instance. That treaty was abandoned later on, due to concerns that Germany would not be able to get at par with the increasing Soviet submarine threat, but the point remains that there was no such thing as an obvious Nazi drive to prepare for an alleged commencement of war in Europe. All of those stories seem to ignore the fact that the German military started from a really weak level. Increasing this strength was relative to that low level. It was not about becoming stronger than the others, but about being able to defend the country in a proper way.

@Joshua N. Ajang Yes, there is a difference. Germany has a plethora of dialects. Standard German or High German is mainly spoken in northern Germany. The state of Bavaria alone, in wich the scene is set, has several dialects.
@Joshua N. Ajang every large language has local dialects and accents, as broad as British English compared to someone from Florida or Canada. Fine, but please do keep in mind that this video only echoes the usual myths, not any proven truth from history. The way in which the Third Reich allegedly prepared for war by increasing military spending is such a typical error that gets regurgitated a lot. Also the alleged "fact" that the Third Reich would not be able to economically survive if it would not occupy other countries soon, is a common myth. The problem that the Third Reich was facing was indeed related to high finance, but, in contrast to other countries like Britain, Germany could not get loans on the international finance market to lubricate its economy. There was a reason for the Third Reich to rely on barter trade and the complicated issue with Mefo bills and such.

Correct. They weren’t. The European powers at that time (Britain, France, and Belgium) were just too stupid to curb stomp Adolf’s latent ambitions before the 30’s and wilfully ignored the obvious signs manifested by his rhetoric. They had the power both militarily and economically to do so but are too cowardly and just resorted to appeasement. Though their understandable apprehension to lose more lives in another brutal war they were trying to avoid resulted in just that: more lives lost and destruction never seen before.
@@canto10mosha65 This is a lot less accurate than was reality. In reality, the UK and France were in no condition to fight a war. Their people were incredibly anti-war and their economies were torn apart by it (nowhere near as bad as germany, though). In short, the myth that the British and the French did *nothing* is just that, a myth. In reality, they had actually begun mobilising for quite some time. A huge reason why appeasement even *existed* as a policy was to buy the British time to rearm. The French were often against it, and in fact in many cases Britain stepped in to keep them down. I don't know why you include Belgium in the list of European powers, that part is just retarded.
Personally, I think Hitler's move to get women out of the work force was brilliant. Men were no longer competing with women in the workforce, so more jobs available for men, higher pay for men because of less supply of labor, more financially available men that could support a family, AND more women having babies. AND he also forced people on welfare to work, because earning some money was better than no money, and being a burden on the taxpayer. Think what you want, but those were still brilliant moves.
“It allowed the government to spend money that didn’t actually exist”. Lol. Ya, cuz it’s not as if our fiat currency system allows government to blink money into existence in the form of debt or anything.
Go back to gold currency and hang the commies worldwide for speculating on labour. Im ok chopping off the top of the pyramid, seems like they want chaos, hang em all.
It is really quite different you would be amazed at how complicated the system is today, the dollar is the reserve currency so demand for the dollar is always strong, even like now, when there is speculated trouble ahead, people convert their money to dollars. You can also look at other countries, and a way they make their currency valuable is that they peg to the dollar. Also if you were to devalue the dollar, then that would not necessarily be a bad thing as our exports would increase due to our goods being cheaper. The ability to print money is also not unique to our currency system, but something the whole world engages in, and America is particularly strong because everyone wants dollar, global trade is done in dollar, if you don't have dollars, then it is much harder to trade.

In that period it was the same in every country (US, Japan, Italy, UK, France, USSR) everyone discredited classes of people to get cheap labor (heck even now we use migrants as a way to boost GDP and get cheap labor)
Most historians neglect to mention that it was the Weimar government who surrendered in 1918, not the Kaiser, as this could lend credence to the "stab in the back myth." Good on this video for telling the full story in that regard.
Yeah, after Ludendorff panicked and suggested the armistice to the government. Then in hindsight, he created the "stab-in-the-back-myth" to save his and the army's reputation.
@Kevin Kirby "Weimar was controlled by Zionists". - The same thing was in the centre of Nazi propaganda. It is interesting, that such nonsense will never die out. "The German people knew this and elected the party who brought justice back to Germany" - Yeah, "justice": illegal murders, oppression and a Nazi elite who enriched themselves. (Look up, how Hitler and his cronies swam in fortune.) In Germany, your statements would be considered as Neo-Nazi, rightwing propaganda. So you are an antisemitic Nazi. You can be glad of yourself. 🤣
Yeah, but the OHL had already prepared to accept a peace deal since October. It just happened to be the case that the delegation that was designed to accept the humiliating armistice arrived under the Kaiser's leadership on 9th November and then did the same two days later, just this time with the agreement of Ebert. And you know what? The German High Command kind of wanted it that way! To them, the German revolution was actually a great opportunity to whitewash their role in the war and deflect blame towards the Democrats who they wanted to sweep away again. They literally wrote letters openly saying how happy they were that they could blame the Social Democrats for their own failings. Several members of the OHL actually ended up becoming big purveyors of the stab in the back myth such as Ludendorff, who was mentioned in the video here, EVEN IF he knew EXACTLY how much he was at fault for it. In many ways, the High Command were a bunch of sore losers and it is a pity that many Germans believed their lies. Even worse, many of Hitler's initial collaborators from the conservative side, many of which were close to the OHL, wanted to reinstitute a sort of German Empire 2.0 and tried to use Hitler to their advantage, which utterly failed. Their biggest enemy was Democracy and not the fascist threat. Just like the initial OHL had been... The role of German conservatives and traditionalists during the Weimar Republic is breathtakingly irresponsible and dangerous, even among those who didn't really like Hitler and his antisemitism. In the end they all helped Hitler or worked with or under him, regardless of their intentions. In that sense, German conservatism was completely stained for a very long time after WW2. And it all started with the German High Command blaming the Democrats for the peace treaty of Versailles.

Its simply extremely difficult to digest , that in a mere span of 20 years , Germany which was dealing with huge war reparations for a war which was forced on it by france & uk , was able to completely transform itself to fight another war , that too on multiple fronts , When the world’s economy was in shackles due to the great Depression of 30’s , German’y economy was booming ! All this can’t be just a fluke !
@@mattfraser3688 yes, but the deal Hitler made with Stalin was a well calculated lie. The core of Germany hated communism as much as the U.S. did in the 50's. Germany was doing what everyone else was doing? EGADS, MAN! RUN FOR THE HILLS!

@Joshua N. Ajang every large language has local dialects and accents, as broad as British English compared to someone from Florida or Canada.

Here's a summary of the video:
How did Germany Get so Strong after Losing WW1?
The Armchair Historian: Well, yes, but actually no.
@Pingers Bingers the NSDAP was not in power at the time of the hyperinflation but they profited from it.
@@Lexman00 Brilliant for a militarized dictatorship indeed.

@@FarmersAreCool except it's "capitalists" not "commies."

Swastikas are illegal in German media and so they are frowned upon by youtube as well.

The autobahns were never meant for military purposes. They were instead only built as close as 30 km to the borders of the Reich, so that the enemy couldn´t use them in case he invades germany. And driving Panzers on the autobahn for longer distances, creates excessive wear on the panzers and the road, and wastes huge amounts of fuel. The military always prefered the railway as primary way of transportation, because the railway is capable of transporting heavy military equipment in great numbers easyly, was powered by coal instead of fuel back then, and is far more efficient.
