I'm pleasantly surprised to see a game like this still having a super active player base. I'm jumping in now for the first time as well so i can experience the magic of DBO
When a game has both an auction house and player store, there are usually several advantages and disadvantages of both. Back in Final Fantasy XI travel could take 15-120 minutes depending on location with no teleports (typically reserved for only a couple of jobs). So setting up a shop in the middle of no where (or a popular grind area or outpost) saves people time. Though there was also the fact that auction houses in town charged 10% tax on each purchased item. This created the existence of player malls outside of main towns with auction houses that bypassed the tax. The downside was that there was no search function and you had to go to known shops that had what you want (or named their alt mall character) or just window shop. In addition, the auction house itself had a limit of only allowing 7 items to be sold at a time (and each city had its own auction house independent of the others so you could do a literal trade route to and from since they were quite a distance away from each other even by airship if you managed to get a pass).
Sweet mother mary the memories or leaving from certain exits and lagging for days cuz if the large number of chars sitting there with bags in front if the names. 😂😂
If you played long enough you could learn the skill to go super saiyan (you need to collect 7 dragon balls that can be get from mobs during events, call the dragon and make a wish to get the super saiyan transformation skill). Video would be even cooler if you did this.
I’ll never forget when I used to play a game called dungeon fighter online that shut down in 2009 but is officially back. My experience was so wholesome when I reached lvl 15 and chose my offical class. I had a party invite me to a dungeon I happened to be doing as well and there were 4 of us. 3 characters the same level as me (21)-22 and a high level awakened guy level 47 doing free runs for us. He helped us all level to 35 and ran us through the dungeons we needed. He was patient when we needed to go to the venders to sell and buy items for quests. I’ll never forget that day. We stayed friends and I even caught up to him in level and surpassed him with my main character and returned the favor when he needed help. We even started duoing epic dungeons together and even got legendary items. Sometimes in that game when a legendary or epic item drops, a dice roll happens so not all the time you’ll get the item even if it’s for your specific class so we would drop the item if our character won the dice roll for a class specific item that one of us needed. Good times good times.
Install is super easy, if your a dragonball fan absolutely give it a try. It's definitely not going to hold up very well if you compare it to some modern day MMORPGs but if you want a nostalgic and oldschool experience in a pretty unique world, it's definitely worth a shot.
Grandpa Gohan isn't an old Gohan, son of Goku. That was the name of the human that found Goku's crashed alien pod in Dragon Ball. He named his first born son after, essentially, his dad.
i would 100% play this. i don't usually do private servers but im highly concidering this. always have wanted a DB mmo. and the fact that you can age as you level is so neat.

Hello! Loved the video and the game actually looks fun. Just wanted to say also the "Training Gi" is the outfits that we would wear in like martial arts and stuff, but the G in Gi is pronounced like the G in the word Game for example. Just wanted to let you know for future reference!
I’m like 3 minutes in and I already wanna play it, tbh, character selection screen gives me WOW vibes, just the whole nostalgic graphics look gives me that old school MMO vibe you can fully immerse and get lost it
Broke my heart❤❤❤❤❤ so amazing. I will be trying this out and sent your video already to several groups I am in!!! I never knew this existed! Cannot wait to start my journey
Played in the Korean server back in the day, this game was the peak for me in terms of chilling around with your friends online and meeting new people, this community was something else, had a sword class and a crane. I really lost something when they shut down the servers. Good memories
I actually played the Taiwan version of DBO and since I only know how to read and speak English installing it was a fun challenge. The idea of a DBZ mmo was exciting at the time so I spent like 9 hours trying to get it downloaded and installed so I could play. We had separate English patches made by the players/community of the game back then which didn't translate nearly as much as the private servers and took a bit of time to find out how to install them correctly. After the servers shutdown I believe DBO Global or DBOG was the first private server to actually come out but there is more than one private server for DBO out there now and all of them have slight differences. I was heartbroken when this game was officially shutdown, it was a adventure and a lot of that adventure I was going in blind cause a lot of the later game outside the starting areas was not translated. Watching your video makes me wanna jump back into this game again. Since most in the US didn't even know this game existed they just ripped all the great elements of DBO and made those crappy Xenoverse games. Remember, DBO is the original Xenoverse and is superior to it in every way. Probably the most successful mmo based off a anime we have ever seen.
Maaan i used to play it, the korean version, it was so cool, the progresion was slow, but it was the best part, you dont use the kamehameha from the start, you feel the progress by the time, traveling, watching new maps, you felt that you were in the dragon ball world, then you grow up and then you can learn to fly and the kaioken, to get the ssj you must work in searching the dragon balls, and using the scouter was the best thing for a dragon ball fan, watching every npc and comparing to you
Back in the day, I heard the news about this game that was supposed to come out in the west. It just never really did as far as I knew. I really wanted to play it, but never got the chance and then forgot about it. Glad to hear the game is still alive in this way. Really want to give it a try.
Watched Dragon Ball as a child, doesn't know how to pronounce Gi, doesn't know that the money is Zeni, doesn't know that Grandpa Gohan is the one that found Goku....are you sure you watched the show?
Just because he enjoyed the show in his childhood does not mean that enjoyment persisted into his adulthood. I used to watch Ben 10 as a kid, but I remember practically nothing about it, because I stopped watching it when I got older. This is how brains work. We forget information that has not been used in a while to make space for new, actually useful information.
@@liamt4894 This is all basic information though. Even if you stopped watching the show, you should still know this information. Hell, Gi isn't even just from Dragon Ball. It is not pronounced Gee ANYWHERE.
I love DBOG, it's a solid game. The one MMO from a huge IP that just absolutely collapsed was UCGO (Universal Century Gundam Online). Lasted less than a year in Japan.
fun fact, its a bit difficult to do but you don't have to go through with the adult change questline. If you reach max level before then as a child you can get super saiyan as a child instead and continue the game as a kid.
@@FromBeyondTheGrave1 sorry man, but its at a temple during a festival. Google it, watch the show, or jsut consider the fact that the people who run the tournament are all MONKS.
I thought so too. At one point in time they probably saved some people a lot of time. However, with a mount and fuel given at a low level they dont serve much of a purpose in the last installment of official patches/private server updates. Still a cool novelty though!
☝️🤓 "Um, it's not a dragon ball z MMO it's a DragonBall MMO." Calm down douche, it literally doesn't matter at all. Chill the heck out and grow up. Maybe move out of moms basement and meet a girl?
i played this game a few years back, let me give you a tip, you can gather the dragon balls and make a wish to grant you the ability to become a super sayan even though your race is a human, the reason you can obtain super sayan as a human is because of the lore of the game... db online takes place a few hundred years after the end of dragon ball z and it is said that after so many years, every human on earth has a little bit of sayan DNA inside their bodies and by using the dragon balls shenron can force out the sayan potential hidden in the body and help you become a super sayan.
This really brought me back. I was 14 when the game was still around and struggled my ass off to get the Korean version. I could only find like a partial translation dunno why but the game was sooooo good. I still remember someone I met online called shineheaven21 who really helped me navigate the game, learn flying and even super saiyan cause you know majority of the game was in Korean (If you’re reading this bro, thanks so much. You probably don’t remember me but I wouldn’t have all the fun memories with it if you hadn’t showed me around). For those of you who’re still reading, this game is the origins of xenoverse and where most of the villains and cast originated. And as far as I remember, there’s a cool ass plot line where goku and vegeta have one final battle when they get old on another planet and the shockwaves are felt years later.
Yoo this is back? I had the korean version with a (bad) translation mod when i was little and i LOVED this mmo. Im so happy to see a private server on it, major shoutout to DBOG!
the feeling of you entering the dungeon in this mmo first time was literally me in FF14 online with my friends who basically dragged my dead corpse through the dungeon for my insane xp gain. it was amazing experience.
I have great memories of playing this game back in 2013! Just exploring the maps, searching for dragon balls with my friends.. it was simple but fun. I do miss a mmo of this kind.
Abit late but fun fact that gift box is actually a new feature, added via the adventure pass april fools update this year. Adventure pass actually stayed after the april fools update funnily enough.
9:02 its not that “gohan is a grandpa at this point in time” as goku’s son being old, this is literally the first gohan character in DB, the one who raised goku, who he named his son after
I actually do remember this game. It was waaaay back when I was in high school and have looooong forgotten about it, but always wished it gotten better instead of being forgotten altogether. Sucha shame, but am happy theres still some small developers keeping it breathing

Love the concept. You could make a puzzle to get each rare starter. There could be hints around to solve it. One could be to get to an area within 1 minute, missing this window may lock you out of getting it but there is a chance to return later in the game to capture it again maybe with better stats or with a special move.
I remember when, as a child, I downloaded this game for over 3 days, only for it to not work at the end, I searched half the Internet to figure it out but to no avail
Man, I remember reading about this game but unfortunately, PC were super expensive back then. It was a dream game for DBZ fans honestly. Also, I really want a Xenoverse + Kakarot DBZ game!
So this "becoming a store" feature, I've seen this feature once before in an MMO called Rohan: Blood Feud. The combat animation for that game is among the best I've seen in an MMO. The leveling is a bit broken however as you can buy gear of just about any level and go talk to someone to reduce the level requirement. Doing so is RNG-based though and it costs in-game currency. So if your luck is bad, you'll go through all your money. Edit: I've seen an MMO use a PvP arena as well, known as KalOnline. That one has several different versions if I recall. In that game, there were two ways to enter PvP. 1: The arena in the map's capital. 2: Wearing an assassin mask or something. That makes it where you can attack any player anywhere and they can attack you. You can't just toggle it all willy-nilly though, so you need to be careful about wearing that. Anyway, I might give this MMO a shot.
It's a weird thing getting older.. memories that you thought you'd never forget slowly fading away.. kinda sucks.. but I definitely remember this game. There were a lot of really interesting MMO games from around this time. I'm beginning to forget them now but I remember a game called "Exteel" which was very, very fun.. but unfortunately it was (like a lot of these games) shut down. If you'd never heard of Exteel before, have a look on UA-cam.. it had a fairly large community behind it.. Honourable mentions: SplashFighters, Conquer Online.. I'm forgetting them :( will update if I can remember..
8:56 Someone didn't read dragon ball ever. Gohan is Goku's "parent" that took him when he came to earth and named his son in his honor. He was also first student of Master Roshi with Chichi's dad.

It's funny to me how many people didn't get that Xenoverse was a streamlined adaption of this MMO's story concept.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see a game like this still having a super active player base.
I'm jumping in now for the first time as well so i can experience the magic of DBO
was it worth it
@zypnazyp6115 it wasn't bad, but it wasn't exactly my taste in MMO
“I worked with gohan who is a grandpa at this point in time” 👀……🚶🏾♂️➡️
Edit: You’ve said enough🤣✋🏾
“Dragon Ball fans don’t watch Dragon Ball”
Gohan became a grandpa
Must've just watched DBZ. But wait, goku mentions Grandpa Gohan a few times in Z.
“Gohan, who was a grandpa at this point”
*everyone hated that*
"a turtle"
THE TURTLE
DUDE. This game looks so fun! A second video on it would be awesome! Would you recommend giving it a try then? Is it hard to install?
Install is super easy, if your a dragonball fan absolutely give it a try. It's definitely not going to hold up very well if you compare it to some modern day MMORPGs but if you want a nostalgic and oldschool experience in a pretty unique world, it's definitely worth a shot.
@@Waydotswhere is the link
@@Waydots I'd also like a link, or a direction towards the correct launcher 🙏
Grandpa Gohan isn't an old Gohan, son of Goku. That was the name of the human that found Goku's crashed alien pod in Dragon Ball. He named his first born son after, essentially, his dad.
i would 100% play this. i don't usually do private servers but im highly concidering this. always have wanted a DB mmo. and the fact that you can age as you level is so neat.
Xenoverse took a lot of inspiration from DBO, when comparing the two. Great video!
damn i used to play it back on 2011, i thought it was offline by now
i remember getting the vegito cosmetic, it was amazing
It is offline did you watch the video? This is a private server
@@powder8414 bro chill, this is a youtube comment lmao
i meant offline as in shut down, to never be working again
my comment was written in surprise as i found out that the game i once played and loved is back again as a private server
@@powder8414pretty sure DBO never went public in the west. So the game you guys played back then (i also played and had to pay to access close beta) was a private server.
I love how DBZ games without the main characters in them are basically just Dragon Quest games!
This pretty much turned into Xenoverse
It's a new Waydot video! congrats on the sponsor POG.
Maaan i used to play it, the korean version, it was so cool, the progresion was slow, but it was the best part, you dont use the kamehameha from the start, you feel the progress by the time, traveling, watching new maps, you felt that you were in the dragon ball world, then you grow up and then you can learn to fly and the kaioken, to get the ssj you must work in searching the dragon balls, and using the scouter was the best thing for a dragon ball fan, watching every npc and comparing to you
when xenoverse 2 die, (the sustitute of DBO, not the same by far) they must make a new DBO....
bro thinks gohan and grandpa gohan are the same person lol
Yeah, that kind of switched me off.
He's a fraud, I'm afraid.
He also called the budokai tenkaichi a "temple", come on.
Back in the day, I heard the news about this game that was supposed to come out in the west. It just never really did as far as I knew. I really wanted to play it, but never got the chance and then forgot about it. Glad to hear the game is still alive in this way. Really want to give it a try.
thank you for showing me this I have been playing it and having a fun time with my majin and is lvl 27 atm
Nice thats awesome man :) keep grinding!
Its the same with World of Warcraft private servers.. people are so nice, helping out even they get nothing from it and build a great community :)
Watched Dragon Ball as a child, doesn't know how to pronounce Gi, doesn't know that the money is Zeni, doesn't know that Grandpa Gohan is the one that found Goku....are you sure you watched the show?
Right. He's like "Gohan who was a grandpa at the time" 😂😂😂😂😂
Just because he enjoyed the show in his childhood does not mean that enjoyment persisted into his adulthood.
I'm also annoyed that he kept calling it DragonBall Z Online. Like, that's not the name, dude.
@@LaBambaMan yeah exactly 🤣
I love DBOG, it's a solid game. The one MMO from a huge IP that just absolutely collapsed was UCGO (Universal Century Gundam Online). Lasted less than a year in Japan.
“With Gohan, who’s a grandpa here” …buddy, that’s Grandpa Gohan..as in Gokus grandpa💀
Ummm ackchyually
grandpa Gohan is different than Gohan. Grandpa Gohan is the man who raised Goku before and at the start of Dragon Ball, Goku named Gohan after him
Wait I just realized that's what he meant by "gohan, who is a grandpa at this point" 😂
That isn't Gohan as in Goku's son, that's Gohan as in Gokus caregiver/grandpa from Dragonball.
Yeah I was gonna comment the same thing glad someone pointed it out
Im so old Ive seen the titles of this stuff go from “an old dragon ball mmo” to “a game dbz mmo you forgot” and now “never knew about”
I love how happy you looked when finding out about the squirrel LOL
Hey, I know you! You're that guy from that mmo
@@BlueCarloz :)
fun fact, its a bit difficult to do but you don't have to go through with the adult change questline. If you reach max level before then as a child you can get super saiyan as a child instead and continue the game as a kid.
2:36 Bro did not just call the world martial arts arena a temple.
The world martial arts tournament was, in fact, held at a temple.
@@DeathComesQuick666 nope it’s held at Papaya Island in a city with a tourist attraction done up to look fancy
@@FromBeyondTheGrave1 sorry man, but its at a temple during a festival. Google it, watch the show, or jsut consider the fact that the people who run the tournament are all MONKS.
That bus mechanic is actually really cool
I thought so too. At one point in time they probably saved some people a lot of time. However, with a mount and fuel given at a low level they dont serve much of a purpose in the last installment of official patches/private server updates. Still a cool novelty though!
its not a Dragonball Z MMO its a Dragonball MMO, the Z is anime only, the series is simply Dragonball.
Someone give this genius a gold medal for his spectacular knowledge 👏 🤦
Who cares...
☝️🤓 "Um, it's not a dragon ball z MMO it's a DragonBall MMO." Calm down douche, it literally doesn't matter at all. Chill the heck out and grow up. Maybe move out of moms basement and meet a girl?
@@AtlasGaiaYou're as unnecesarilly rude as the guys flamming him for forgetting Gohan.
i played this game a few years back, let me give you a tip, you can gather the dragon balls and make a wish to grant you the ability to become a super sayan even though your race is a human, the reason you can obtain super sayan as a human is because of the lore of the game... db online takes place a few hundred years after the end of dragon ball z and it is said that after so many years, every human on earth has a little bit of sayan DNA inside their bodies and by using the dragon balls shenron can force out the sayan potential hidden in the body and help you become a super sayan.
It's pronounced Gi... like in Gif ;)
No it isnt 😂
You…..are not very bright.
I’ve been grinding for the past couple days now and am really enjoying the DBO gameplay
I like how you immediately call it by the wrong name.
Ummm ackchyually
Man, I want to play DBO again. Miss that game, it was like WOW but Dragon Ball.
That mask for 1 token is a item they gave out to honor the passing of Toriyama c:
Thanks to Flexarot hundreds if not thousands of people have known about and have been playing it for years and still are to this day!
Gohan who was a grandpa at the time (My guy you're thinking about the wrong Gohan"
The 2 characters in the cutscenes are probably the coolest Dragon Ball characters I've seen. They look awesome.
did he said Dragon Ball was a massive part of his childhood and short after that called the arena a temple?
Definitely can tell you aren't the biggest DBZ fan but thank you for covering this game though. Helping keep it alive. 🤙🏾💯
That kinda quality community is literally what makes or breaks games like this!
9:02 its not that “gohan is a grandpa at this point in time” as goku’s son being old, this is literally the first gohan character in DB, the one who raised goku, who he named his son after
Except I DID know about it, and ACTUALLY played it.
Great to see people are still discovering the game ❤ cant wait to battle all the new warriors
4:09 You did NOT say Training Gee 😭
THERE'S A DRAGONBALL MMO?!?!?!?!?! Bro THANK YOU. GENIUS! Legitimately new info that I find IMMEDIATELY impactful. Yea, that's a sub.
i noticed your bags are called "capsule kits" so thats probably what you need to search for on the auction house
I actually do remember this game. It was waaaay back when I was in high school and have looooong forgotten about it, but always wished it gotten better instead of being forgotten altogether. Sucha shame, but am happy theres still some small developers keeping it breathing
Played the Korean version of that, was kind of fun to play a MMO in the Dragonball universe still remember how i struggled to register a account due to the Korean restrictions still got it even tho it was illegal for me to do so but i enjoyed it anyways for months Thanks for reminding me of better times might check that Privat server out at some point
I tried so hard to get this to run on my steam deck, I thought it’d be pretty chill to play while chilling in the living room or something.
Maple story did the storefront in their free market as well as an auction house.
Best economics system in a game I’ve ever experienced.
"At this point I worked with Gohan, who was a Grandpa at this point in time"
I... er... uhh... 🤦♀
Man, I remember reading about this game but unfortunately, PC were super expensive back then. It was a dream game for DBZ fans honestly.
Also, I really want a Xenoverse + Kakarot DBZ game!
DBZ MMOs have existed since before 2003, just in 2D form.
Young me struggled so hard to play this game. From buying and account to trying to get the english patch to work. Good times.
Sitting around the computer all day playing this then going to Cartoon Networks and Miniclip games was top tier entertainment
Glad more people are discovering this gem of a game. Please try it out if you have not, it is VERY fun.
I have been looking for a Dragonball MMO since Dragonball Zenkai shut down! Thanks for playing and showcasing this!
This game literally has double the players Concord had
8:56 Someone didn't read dragon ball ever. Gohan is Goku's "parent" that took him when he came to earth and named his son in his honor. He was also first student of Master Roshi with Chichi's dad.
