I played during closed beta, open beta, release and for years. I can tell you this is literally a shell of what it used to be. Leveling used to take way longer, the tutorial explained way more, no as many bots. some of my fondest memories of that game was farming a specific digimon with my buddy for weeks hoping to hatch a 5/5 digimon (which is essentially a bigger and stronger version of said digimon). When the first big raid dropped and we found out you could get the OG tamers as a drop from that raid it was a crazy time. But even back in the day it was always heavily P2W.
As someone who DMO was a big part of my childhood and teenage years, I wanna give my 2 cents: The game didn't used to be like this. It actually had a full tutorial (I saw the game go through 3-4 different iterations of it), the level up experience was more "normal", Yokohama Village used to be a whole map that had quests leading you all around it (One of the last times I played, this wasn't the case anymore: I assume these last two are to try and get new players into midgame faster). I audibly GASPED when your "tutorial egg" was Piyomon (They used to give you a stanky Kunemon, I'm thankful for that at least). The story progression is also different from what I can see: You went from Data Center to File Island, it used to be Data Center to Western Area. File Island used to be the placed you'd go to for high risk high reward EXP. It's also important to note that this game has gone through MANY companies over the years and was plagued with problems since the beginning (bad translations, disconnects, exploits, bugs, bots). Here are some core memories for my fellow DMO players: - Intensely changing channels in Silver Lake to find out where the Kuwagamon raid was happening - Desperately trying to click on the NPC's in Data Center but you keep clicking on everyone's shops (Data Center had 17 channels and they were always full) - Farming Renamon for hours and STILL not dropping an egg (you know who u are, u furries) - Using your parent's credit card to buy Riding Mode items - Scamming the survey system for free ingame currency - That period when every time you logged in, the patch notes were "Server Maintenance Announcement" "Server Maintenance Announcement" "Server Maintenance Announcement" "EMERGENCY Server Maintenance Announcement"
Keep Changing channels on all boss raid to see which channel the boss spawn first and then if you are not fast enough while you join that channel the boss will be already dead bcs of many people hit it at the same time XD and then the Data Center CH 1 is just that crowded with player's shop so if you want to talk to the npc without getting annoyed by the shops you need to find the calmest channel of Data Center XD and the train station is only have 2 train i believe, village of begining and i forgot the other one but the other can lead you to the area where you can monsteruse card to spawn monster that drop mission item for Alphamon Ouryuken and Omegamon Jogress Mission
This levelling feels like what happens in an MMO this far in that just wants people to level and begin the "real game" (which here probably involves spending a lot of money)
That's pretty much it, i played the game long time ago when it released. And lvling up was atrocious, it was hard to lvl up. You'd go through every stage and spend time in it, every map youd pretty much know it cuz you'd be spending a long time in it. It was pretty fun tbh and meaningful. Then P2W hit, then i lost interest and the game just went down hill from there. This game is now just money grabbing
And then it punishes you for paying money cuz it's mostly a lootbox or random chance (and even the eggs aren't guaranteed to be worth anything) that has almost no chance of giving you what you actually want. Anything that requires you to spend money will almost definitely require hundreds of dollars before you get something of worth.
You know what's funnier is that this ISN'T the only Digimon MMO. For the record, Digimon never disappeared or anything. The latest season of the anime wrapped up a little over a year ago, and there have been somewhat regular game releases, and, God willing, there's a new Digimon RPG that we've been hearing bits and pieces of, in development for some time now. Hopefully, in a few days' time, we'll actually hear well, ANYTHING Digimon-related from Bandai's panel at Tokyo Game Show.
There HAS NOT been regular game releases but other then that it's still... producing? Best way to explain it as everything is pretty dry BUT the digivices (to be expected) and the tcg. And the tcg is doing serious heavy lifting
There are digimons that are locked behind a gacha that you have to spend more than 3.000 dollars to get and there's quite a few people that have them lmao
While there are quite a few giga whales, some people also will just buy crown for IRL from the game and sell it for Tera and you get the digimon for way less (Still like $400-500 and outrageous, but less than the pity cost).
@@BijutsuYoukaiThey’re not wales they’re using bot to pay, people “paying” are from Argentina and Peru from poor countries no sense 😂 even Mexicans whit the best latam economy is not paying that prices because no sense
I knew about this game since early 2010s because it has the same publisher as one of the MMOs I play (Silkroad Online) Even though I knew about this game, i never knew the mechanics so thanks for exploring the game for us!
I loved to see you tackle this game in 2024, a totally new player into this game with zero knowledge is something courageous to see honestly. I've been playing since 2012 and the tutorial has changed so many times throughout the years. I've done several characters to re-experience this new feeling and it's just gotten worse and worse. Really, nowadays as you saw it gives no sense of achievement and leaves you totally lost. Especially now that they introduced a new gacha system to all digimon evolutions, with no daily free way to do summons on you are dependent on people that spend to buy evolution items off from. When you picked your Steve, that was a new player package to get a digimon of your choosing from that list, once again not enough clarity into what you are actually exchanging. I suppose one of the great changing factors for this game was in 2015 when the game changed companies, because no old players have complains of the game before 2015. The tutorials back then actually gave you a sense of playing and didn't let you one shot anything, you had to actually be at the target level and exp was so so little. What you did in 15mins it would take me like 2 weeks minimum of grinding to achieve as a new player at that time. When the level cap increased from 90 to 99 (currently it's 170) it took me at least 10 hours of killing mobs to get those 9 levels. Nowadays it takes you 20 minutes for that, but later levels get so so grindy as well that it doesn't matter, billions of exp that take weeks of grinding and they keep increasing levels. As some people pointed out in the comments, this game is straight up pay to win, there is no excuses around it, I've been stuck in the "mid game" if you could call it that for half a decade because it's just not doable as a non-spender. The introduction of lootboxes and now the gacha system, along with license issues and revoked evolutions just keeps making it worse. Bots plague this game, as you were stuck in that quest due to the bot killing before you could reach them, as still do I when trying to level myself. Manual leveling has always been the major thing I do because I cannot do hard content, nor do I have the time to invest or even money to throw at this game. And yeah, 3000$+ evolutions is comical. I've stepped away and came back to it more times than I can count but I can never fully abandon it, I always loved digimon and leveling different digimons and seeing their forms. I always enjoyed manually leveling with people and talking to them, helping newer players and guiding them on how to play. But it's just impossible today, I've seen several people quit the game, come back later and in two weeks of spending they get a stronger account than mine that is more than a decade old, all due to whaling. I go try to level up in the new spots that give "modern" experience rates, it's filled with bots. Alright then, I go to old leveling spots that take 10x the time to level up, they are also filled with bots. Over the years there has been and still is a lot of drama and controversies. An overall lack of communication with the community between the GMs and players. it's just sad. I miss the casualty the game had, now it's grind for 8h daily and spend if you wanna keep up. Yeah it would take me hours to do stuff back then too, but I actually could do it and have fun, grinding for new digimon and showing it off to your friends. Nowadays anyone can get it in minutes and it get no actual feeling of "finally, I did it!", it's just, "I bought this". It's very hard to put all of this into a short text, this is more than a decade of experience and so many things that happened, but overall I feel very sorry to newer players who are trying or thinking of trying this game out, it's just sad, so sad. Returning players even more, it's a literal water drop compared to an ocean. Veterans are used to all the bullcrap this game keeps giving and it's just hard to fully abandon it because it's all we got. We were promised a remaster on unreal engine years ago (March 2021 I believe) but they give zero progress posts on that, in nearly 10 years they still have no interaction with the player base, we had at best 2 updates on how that remaster is going, and it tells your jack about it still. Only just a few weeks ago the game updated to 64bits, and it caused major issues which are still being fixed, it's just hilarious.
2010 player here . I came back after a 6 years break , i deeply hate how expensive , grindy and monotone it has become . They lack copyrights to digimons they sold so they are locked , and the game is soo expensive that i need half of the money i make in a month just to shoot a couple of gatcha with % 0.5 to get an item needed to endgame ... As an adult today i have less chances in the game than in 2010 as a kid
You forgot to mention the part where the game now gives you a crap ton of inventory space, archive space, and free sss+ digimon just by logging in. It's waaay more f2p friendly now. You're just talking about endgame U rank digimon lol
@@CrownSD1 it's not F2P friendly. (Especially now) Doesn't matter if they give a SSS+ rank Digimon every so often. they DONT advertise it other than event notes or if someone actually keeps tabs and 90% of the time those "new" players are just bots and returning players that made new tamers to get the stuff to later use extractors to give themselves the items on their main characters or to resell. Oh and also also they made almost all megas (they even made the starter ones) megas locked behind a gacha and the requirements for daily quests that give a ticket to even try for it at lv 140 (tamer) now. Which 100% of brand new players will NOT be at even IF there's a jumping event.
Wow, I do not remember Digimon Masters Online feeling this... weird. I remembered always wanting to play this game as a kid, and the few times I did, I had a blast (before needing a password the next time I wanted to play that my mom never told me since my computer itself - not the game's login - always needed one to play it for some reason). It wasn't the best game in the world even back then, but it was alright for what it was and a sense of progression actually existed. The game still had issues like not explaining its mechanics well, but it treated itself as a proper MMO, fulfilling being a Digimon one at that. But after watching this video, wow... It's like the devs just stopped caring and treated this game as if it's about to shutdown the following day.
Yeah that's how I looked at it too. I remember this game being p2w and whatnot but they completely changed everything about it in terms of progression. Ig the NPCs are the same and the areas and whatnot but this like hyper fast tracked.
Been playing DMO since about 2012 off and on. Spent maybe $300-$400 on the game over the time period through small purchases. Honestly all those bonuses/boosts you were getting have made the game a lot more f2p friendly as time has gone on and there are even events held every few months that give even more extra stuff to new players (Known as 'Jumping' events). There's still a lot of p2w in game - like the latest strongest U rank series of Digimon, but even f2ps can do a good deal of the content without actually having to pay. However, those boosts/etc do mean there's far less emphasis on actually doing the story in order, and fractures that questing structure. The myriad typos and mistranslations do not make things any better in that regard either. Partying up to do dungeons/etc is also a nightmare as its done through in-game yell/shout chat rather than any actual matchmaking or party finding system. But it's really the best you've got currently if you want a Digimon MMO. There's the unofficial DMW server as well with rebalanced and custom Digimon, as well as their own unique events, but its still quite grindy and not super satisfying imo.
Always liked Digimon but unfortunately never got into it Waydot got a point that it's a part of many's childhood, yet it wasn't nearly as popularized as we as pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh.
This game use to be fun and fair but then they did this , It use to be F2P friendly then became P2W LIST 1. This game use to support free bucks and when you used it you could get the whole worth like $5 would get you 500 currency , but now it’s 300 2.they made digimon eggs have ( mid data to make hatching eggs harder ) 3.Only level 5 hatch level eggs can upgrade to higher size so good like with level 3/4 4. The worst of them all is anti body x in digimon is a lottery , that have a low to luck base chance to complete
It's great that it still exists, but compared it to current-gen console Digimon games, it's sad that we couldn't get an overhaul, or even a brand new MMO. Seeing an MMO in the same style as Cyber Sleuth or even Survive would be really cool.
I played this games a few years ago for a lot of time and I loved it. Some of my fondest memories are in this game! My sister, her boyfriend and I used to farm data for HOURS for a high level player and they'll give us a fixed amount of teras or evolution items. When it wasn't a total pay to win mess you could easily go f2p and have a blast. Now it's absolutely depressing...there's a private server tho that's called Digimon Masters World that fix most of the p2w problems, add new digimons and the events are pretty generous :) The progression system is kind of a mess as well since they added the "jumping" event, but I think you can get pretty much the original experience, enjoying my time there so far!
Good Video and as a player of this game a have to say that: This game seemed to be improving little by little, but lately it has gotten much worse. The team doesn't take proper care of the game and doesn't change the anti-cheat. The players you saw were automated machines that we hate but there are players who support them since they only know how to spend money so they buy items from these cheaters and this week there was a great dissatisfaction within the discord community that a CM(community manager) told another player that if he was dissatisfied with the game he should play the pirated version(Private version). This game has become a thing like or you spend tons of money or you don't play. There are three versions: KDMO, NADMO and LADMO and to the North Ameria and Latin America version they harm players claiming that they are trying to prevent hackers/cheaters but they don't really deal with them.
As a DMO player from 2013 to rougly 2016 on a server that died (rip Seraphimon server), it took me WEEKS to even get my ShineGreymon, and I was happy when I did. I miss this game a little bit, but it's only avalaible in the USA now, shame.
The "misspelled" quest name was actually just a play on words. SusSPECIEous. I know that wasn't the exact spelling and that it was just an "e" in stead of an i, but I'm sure that's what they were going for
As someone who has played DMO since it's Korean debut and still enjoys it, this video was absolutely hilarious 😆it does bother me how easy it is now to level up, it used to take days if not weeks to reach digi level 41. But with a playerbase so old and advanced, it was discouraging for new players to try the game and it was pretty much dead for a long time Many of the items/perks you said are paid can actually be obtained either by game currency, events or drops, like the different Tamer, clothes, Mercenary slots, inventory slots, etc
Old player here. No, you couldn't. It was 100 times slower, the level cap was 90 and, honestly, it felt better. There's like 3 entire areas that are completely forgoten and skipped. Nowdays the game has a constant focus on kicking you up to mid-game so you can start farming dungeons.
ngl , its just like any mmos where early game is basically just a way to boost you to near playable levels to the current state of the game player base. A long pointless story which are usually a walk in past , name any old mmo and it would still be the same thing. Blade and soul , FFXIV, Lost ark etc.
i work me and my friend in our own private server and am changing all the graphics so far and is look amazing am the Graphic Designera nd my friend the programer i have changed and the animations too i play this game for many years there already 2 private servers SAME as the DMO but mine is many extra thinks extra stuff and better graphics
I played this briefly a few years back, there were way less bots and the exp curve and tutorial were way different. I don't even recall if I was ever able to digivolve passed my partner's second form
I used to play this game when it was in Korean I was registered in a forum and downloaded a lot of programs so that things could be translated Unforgettable memories.
Damn this game has changed, I remember playing on launch and leveling took so long, once I got my first evolution the champion line I think I was atleast a whole week in, and maybe a month for the second evolution it was a very nice experience as I'm used to deep grinds in oldschool runescape so it felt familiar to me, but I am baffled how you exceed my max level in maybe 30 minutes XD
digimon is honestly such a good franchise, and it deserves a lot better. some of the recent games have been a lot better than this, and the fan content's improving, too. i hope it keeps up and maybe more people decide to give it a fair shot
hello. i played recently dmo and reason you can find bots everwhere is because you can make teras (money). they got system of seals when you defeat a digimon you can get 1 Seal of taht digimon(is not 100% drop rate) and they premanet increse your stats for max stats you need 3k of same seal and Seal openers(50 for 3k) you can only buy on shop (real money) sometimes they give in event but is small amount. Even digimons is p2w now they are giving digimons SSS rank for free in event but that has not case like 1 year ago diference ranks is huge SS+ is like 3k AT SSS is 5k SSS+ is 8k U+ is 10k AT(depende digimon) that is base without upgrades more upgrades more wide is making because they increse dps hp etc for %
This game loves doing Jump events, what you encountered was exactly what that was. Xp at low levels is irrelevant as you can take a level one into a high level, do a quest using a high level character, switch back/to the level one and then turn in the quest and have that digimon jump to level 30 in one quest.
had a friend in college who was super excited when this came out in 2012 or 2013 lol, just remember him incubating eggs to try to get the right pokemon or w.e
Oh man this brings memories. The second password thing was actually introduced due to hacking and the devs thought it would help (it didnt). I used to LOVE this game but I made 3 different account, all got hacked and couldnt recover a single one. I felt devasted because my friends gave me special digimons eachtime and I decided I should just stop or they'll would continue giving me things Seeing your fullvideo gave me a massive whiplash, Silver lake uses to be one of the hard levels. Looks like the devs stop caring about the level system...
To give you some context about that weird cutscene before the tutorial, it comes from a digimon movie called digimon x evolution, and it the final act of the movie, and theoretically (emphasis on the theorically) it is a "prequel" to digimon data squad, the series that DMO kinda adapts
4:33 fun fact: this whole sequence is a reference to a movie. Basically the god of the digital world was killing off the majority of the digimon, so Omegamon X ends up killing it and resetting the entire Digital World. Of course, the game does badly because it expects you to already know about this very obscure movie that even fans might not be aware of and so doesn't explain anything about it.
It’s a mildly fun game. I’d recommend putting more time into it. Some goals would be to get aox and beat myotismon. Aox is going to be a DNA evolution where you need two digimon to evolve. It’s a grind but you need to go through file island to the end before the leveling starts to flatline a bit around 100 but then you’ll unlock the desert area and after that the real game starts where you’ll find actual raids and players to talk to.
believe it or not, this was, at least to me, this was a good game when it realeased, getting your first mega digimon, wich is level 41 taked like an entire day, the first evolutions mattered, i remember leveling up on my ultimate. Now the game gives you to much xp, im not against that, but, at least, they should change the level required for evolutions so i can play more with every piece of the evolution line.
The completely nonsensical intro is vaguely based on the Digimon X-Evolution movie from 2005. Definitely confusing for people that know the context. This game was originally based in the 5th season of the anime, for the most part, with its own loosely adapted version of the plot. It never actually ended its original storyline and just decide to focus on adapting other more popular series and storylines instead. Every single Digimon had to be rebalanced multiple times to keep up with the power creep of the Raid Bosses and new maps, which eventually made the older ones completely obsolete. So in return, they made it extremely easy to level up so you could be directed to the newer content while simultaneously raising the level caps. It eliminated most of the grind for any potential new Digimon you raise, but for someone that it's just getting acquainted to the game, it's really jarring. There was also a period of time around 2014-2015 where the game nearly unplayable due to poor server and connection issues. You had to try multiple times to be able to login, it was as if the game was coded that way, since you could get back pretty easily in case you got disconnected after having already logged in once. Eventually the Korean developers of the game got the rights to handle the game in the west themselves and fixed and are running it to this day, they even have other Digimon MMOs. And yeah, Korean, the game is actually a licensed title and not developed by Bandai Namco, which makes them run into issues of what they can and can't use from time to time, but if this game was actually run by Bandai themselves, it would very likely have been shut down already. The previous game producer of the Digimon series did say he had an interest in making an online based game and also confirmed there were multiple projects in the works before he announced he was being moved out of the series last year. So maybe we'll a proper Digimon MMO someday.
i am actually playing DMO those are bots sad to say the grind is hard but they have been giving away lots of Sss/sss+ digimon that are normally expensive gacha the game gets fun when you get an SSS/SSS+ only most old digimons are kinda useless their stats are bad
Hey bro watched a fair few of your videos now and think they would massively benefit from more than 2-3 hours of gameplay. Maybe think about 10-12 hours so you can see more than just the start of the games. There is no doubt this game is terrible same as many others you have covered but I feel like a deeper analysis and more gameplay would be very beneficial.
Depends on the game man, some games im willing to sit through 100 hours of gameplay in order to find out all the minute details and nuances, some games almost require a fully in depth look to fairly understand and judge everything about it. Other games, like DMO for example, would not benefit much more from me playing for a longer period of time. So what if i did another 250 kill x quests and got to level 100? would that change the outcome of the video? would my opinion be any different? I can say with almost 99% certainty that my closing statements in this case would be the exact same. Thanks for the feedback though, I do appreciate it :)
@@Waydots On DMO specifically the game "actually starts" when you finish these maps quest lines and get your Tamer to lvl 100. It's quite easy to do and in 2-3 days you're there. Well most players do it in basically a day when starting over but I'm assuming you're busier than us unemployed addicted fiens 🤣. Back to the main topic, after your Tamer reaches lvl 100 is when you can finally do meaningful dungeons and tours. Where you can actually start farming for gear and clothes. When you actually start looking into the stats and how to make them higher. What digi to focus. What digis are meta and why are they meta. You can learn how to be an healer if you don't want to just do damage
I really wonder what they have done to this game. When I used to play (I played for about a month or two during release, and then some time after), leveling took so much more time, the tutorial was at least much better than whatever that was. That silver lake zone seem to exist only to farm levels and skip all the zones the game had before, as normally quests would have a minimum requirement, those daily quests can be done as early as level 1 and gives so much exp.
digimon RPG is stilll ON since January 22, 2002 and DMO since October 30, 2009 and still has active and also we just got 1 new map/expasion and level cap from 140 to 170 a ton of new systems and updates for digimon. and the tamers are dropped within the game. also the chess piece is Yggdrasil and check digimon wiki to know more about it.
And therein lies the absurdity. Nope this is the official server on the official game, there actually are private servers that exist in which they have removed all of the P2W aspects LOL.
honestly the reason DMO never came to your attention sooner is because the game is and always has been lackluster. there's a decent KMMO buried under everything, but the problem is that the company still has a huge ways to go on making things accessible. (player from the beginning of time btw, I don't currently actively play but I revisit it every so often. one of the biggest problems is that there's basically nothing to do unless you're at max level. Your experience was vastly different from mine, and arguably probably better because there was NOTHING to do before they added the adventure digital world and you STILL have to somehow reach max tamer level before the game opens up and you can go to literally anywhere else. There was also nothing to do after they added the adventure digital world because this game actually has a massive p2w problem and has since just before I started playing, but I remember this particularly egregious moment when they added magnamon and basically locked him behind either a paywall or being so juiced up with an armor digimon that you could reliably farm the content that drops his evolution item.)
Played this game like 15-14 years ago. Was a blast back then and not crummy P2W like today. The mechanics does felt bad, but at that time it was one of the good games with good graphics. Of course its just out of time and out of style, people have different taste for games today(and the clunky felling of the games didn't help either).
i will care to explain some things here 1. Back then they dont give a ton of Exp when playing early on. The thing is so many people get ban and people make multiple accounts that they made it easier tro start over again if you get banned or a returning player who wants to catch up. remmmember before i needed a hours to get to the next evolution atleast with so much work to do. Later in the game, its so Grindy that you kill hundreds for hours using stacking EXP boosts and you level up like 1 an hour XD 2. Technically the starting digimons are level 3 hatch so in the end they will not be the digi you will level up anyway. should have gave the exp to Steve. 3. You are surprised on how many people still play this game, despite of all .. well we are Driven by nostalgia.. if there is a better option we will jump out XD
Actually it was a good time for me in this game when it was still on steam before they take it off, it was a little too grindy but good enough to keep me in, I still have it on my computer and need a proxy to connect to it and i can't upgrade it since im low on GB.
This is just my opinion but Digimon is at its best when it's turn based. DMW2, 3, Dusk/Dawn, Cyber Sleuth, etc.. Why it's so difficult to give us an open world turn based Digimon game in the Digital World (not the Cyber Sleuth Digital World but that of the TV show) is baffling.
subscribed after seeing digimon mmo that i didn't know but immediately unsubscribed by the usual clueless take. i was expecting that as somone covering old mmos he would know more. but i guess he just do it for content, most youtubers covering old mmos has almost the same outcome. Even though i didn't play it, I'm pretty sure the game was super grindy at start and since its old, the max lvl is going to get bigger meaning it would take months reaching end game. Hearing such condescending take mocking the devs attempt to ease the grind without even trying to understand anything shows who u are tbh. This is where no matter what choice the devs make people will always complain. Now im curious about the end game content of this since surprisingly there are still people playing the game
I play this since 2012 and I wish I had a better Digimon MMO. But unfortunately that's the best digimon mmo that exists. So because I like Digimon, I play it.
I use to play this game back at the start. I even had a Japanese Account and played it there before its global launch. I loved this game more than anything. until it became a pay to win game after like 3 years of launch so sad... playing through the zones and leveling was so much of this game, boost ruins all of it.
Believe it or not, this game is better than how it was. Once you know what youre doing (even though the game is bad at telling you what you have to do.) Theres a lot to levels, items, digimon, digimon fusions (jogress) and the game is quite f2p friendly now, up til end game at least.
Digimon anime > pokemon. Digimon frontier is the GOAT. I remember watching it before going to school. The games are what made it fall short of pokemon.
No. Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory is richer, deeper in both mechanics and story than anything Pokemon could ever dream of producing. That's like comparing Shin Megami Tensei to Paper Mario.
Im going to be honest, 18:02 is a extremely low lvl bot who is (without a doubt) earning real money by farming because not only shop items are expensive, you need a terrifying amount of items in order to have a strong account (items that could take you years to farm). About the sea of "exchange robots" those are shops and many ppl use multiple accounts to have dozens of them to sell items, items that could or not being cloned / fake. dmo is rotten to the core and needs to be closed ($3600 dlls for a digi evolution nowadays for a 0.05% gacha).
But even back in the day it was always heavily P2W.
first raid requirements were insanely difficult
they Give free SSS+ now even theyr events got crazy now this last event they give permanent aura and jogress chip
@@Mizari27 the problem of the game they dont have system item lvl of the gear or else the only way to get upgrade is the seals
You're not lying 😢 I remembered how fun it was. But this version of it.... 😂
same played the beta but didnt continue really I played Digimon Battle Online tho it was great while it lasted
my hope is one day we will have a great Digimon MMO.
It use to be great but they made it F2P to P2W
@@aladinocave6599 It was Pay to Win even back in its hayday, it's just more egregious now
As someone who DMO was a big part of my childhood and teenage years, I wanna give my 2 cents: The game didn't used to be like this.
Here are some core memories for my fellow DMO players:
- Intensely changing channels in Silver Lake to find out where the Kuwagamon raid was happening
- Desperately trying to click on the NPC's in Data Center but you keep clicking on everyone's shops (Data Center had 17 channels and they were always full)
- Farming Renamon for hours and STILL not dropping an egg (you know who u are, u furries)
- Using your parent's credit card to buy Riding Mode items
- Scamming the survey system for free ingame currency
- That period when every time you logged in, the patch notes were "Server Maintenance Announcement" "Server Maintenance Announcement" "Server Maintenance Announcement" "EMERGENCY Server Maintenance Announcement"
I miss when Gizumon:AT was a rare event reward. I had one at 4/5.
Keep Changing channels on all boss raid to see which channel the boss spawn first and then if you are not fast enough while you join that channel the boss will be already dead bcs of many people hit it at the same time XD
and then the Data Center CH 1 is just that crowded with player's shop so if you want to talk to the npc without getting annoyed by the shops you need to find the calmest channel of Data Center XD
and the train station is only have 2 train i believe, village of begining and i forgot the other one but the other can lead you to the area where you can monsteruse card to spawn monster that drop mission item for Alphamon Ouryuken and Omegamon Jogress Mission
Yup, pre-File island era where DATS center had a waterfront and you could farm in the human world up to level 40s.
This levelling feels like what happens in an MMO this far in that just wants people to level and begin the "real game" (which here probably involves spending a lot of money)
Maplestory nowadays comes to mind too.
And Even with paid buff and shit, lvling is so awful, So shit and the worst... Full of bots that don't let You lvl
Not to mention the TCG is doing quite okay
There HAS NOT been regular game releases but other then that it's still... producing? Best way to explain it as everything is pretty dry BUT the digivices (to be expected) and the tcg. And the tcg is doing serious heavy lifting
Everything we hear from Digimon will either be Asien only or shutdown in less then a year
Last I heard, the new RPG is the same company that made this and another similarly bad one. No hope.
There are digimons that are locked behind a gacha that you have to spend more than 3.000 dollars to get and there's quite a few people that have them lmao
Wow thats nuts lol
While there are quite a few giga whales, some people also will just buy crown for IRL from the game and sell it for Tera and you get the digimon for way less (Still like $400-500 and outrageous, but less than the pity cost).
@@BijutsuYoukaiThey’re not wales they’re using bot to pay, people “paying” are from Argentina and Peru from poor countries no sense 😂 even Mexicans whit the best latam economy is not paying that prices because no sense
Then there is the bots that super speed kill everything so you can't grind.
This mmo is actually fairly well known in South America and Asia, like a lot of "obscure" mmos.
I knew about this game since early 2010s because it has the same publisher as one of the MMOs I play (Silkroad Online)
Even though I knew about this game, i never knew the mechanics so thanks for exploring the game for us!
Only just a few weeks ago the game updated to 64bits, and it caused major issues which are still being fixed, it's just hilarious.
dude it sounds like you should really play something else already. Reading this made me incredibly sad lol
Which 100% of brand new players will NOT be at even IF there's a jumping event.
its crazy how much this game has actually changed in the past few years
Wow, I do not remember Digimon Masters Online feeling this...
They did tread the game like that for a long time the new dev is just barely starting to get the game back in shape
There's the unofficial DMW server as well with rebalanced and custom Digimon, as well as their own unique events, but its still quite grindy and not super satisfying imo.
this is my childhood game i still play to this day since 2013
"A twenty foot angel spawned next to me" It was actually a demon...
Depending on what book you read, same thing
It was both.
@@salmonella7993 It's not Lucemon
There is one based on the Tamers series, released 2 decades ago, and is still active.
What's it called?
majority of mobs drops seals which u need 3000 of a specific type to activate stats, hence why the bot was farming patamons
its nice to see the game still has evolved. great vidoe. i never was able to play it ever again ever sinds it ahs bin reagon locked
Always liked Digimon but unfortunately never got into it
Waydot got a point that it's a part of many's childhood, yet it wasn't nearly as popularized as we as pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh.
This game use to be fun and fair but then they did this ,
It use to be F2P friendly then became P2W
LIST
1. This game use to support free bucks and when you used it you could get the whole worth like
$5 would get you 500 currency , but now it’s 300
2.they made digimon eggs have ( mid data to make hatching eggs harder )
3.Only level 5 hatch level eggs can upgrade to higher size
so good like with level 3/4
4. The worst of them all is anti body x in digimon is a lottery , that have a low to luck base chance to complete
I think almost every digimon fan knew of this mmo.
this brought back memories of my kid me trying to find anime games and stumbled on this game
"you name it mon" was amazing
It's great that it still exists, but compared it to current-gen console Digimon games, it's sad that we couldn't get an overhaul, or even a brand new MMO. Seeing an MMO in the same style as Cyber Sleuth or even Survive would be really cool.
Love the videos, please keep them up. My favourites so far were SWTOR and ESO
All the gagets at the beginning just gave me flashbacks to Metabots.
But with a playerbase so old and advanced, it was discouraging for new players to try the game and it was pretty much dead for a long time
Many of the items/perks you said are paid can actually be obtained either by game currency, events or drops, like the different Tamer, clothes, Mercenary slots, inventory slots, etc
Great video! I wonder if you could level so fast to 60 when the game came out?
Old player here.
No, you couldn't. It was 100 times slower, the level cap was 90 and, honestly, it felt better. There's like 3 entire areas that are completely forgoten and skipped. Nowdays the game has a constant focus on kicking you up to mid-game so you can start farming dungeons.
ngl , its just like any mmos where early game is basically just a way to boost you to near playable levels to the current state of the game player base. A long pointless story which are usually a walk in past , name any old mmo and it would still be the same thing. Blade and soul , FFXIV, Lost ark etc.
I used to play this back in middle school to highschool.
As a guilty pleasure i still play it to this day.
i work me and my friend in our own private server and am changing all the graphics so far and is look amazing am the Graphic Designera nd my friend the programer i have changed and the animations too i play this game for many years there already 2 private servers SAME as the DMO but mine is many extra thinks extra stuff and better graphics
You should release whenever it is ready
upload some videos plss
@@LexRykz sorry we can't yet we working in extra maps and extra quests and dailys
I played this briefly a few years back, there were way less bots and the exp curve and tutorial were way different. I don't even recall if I was ever able to digivolve passed my partner's second form
I used to play this game when it was in Korean
I was registered in a forum and downloaded a lot of programs so that things could be translated
Unforgettable memories.
I just got a notification for this video and I don’t think I clicked on something so fast
The guy closest to you after you went through the portal was called CagaTronco.
That's LogShitter in Spanish.
hello. i played recently dmo and reason you can find bots everwhere is because you can make teras (money). they got system of seals when you defeat a digimon you can get 1 Seal of taht digimon(is not 100% drop rate) and they premanet increse your stats for max stats you need 3k of same seal and Seal openers(50 for 3k) you can only buy on shop (real money) sometimes they give in event but is small amount.
I used to love this game but the bots got so bad I couldn't even complete mandatory story quests. 😢
had a friend in college who was super excited when this came out in 2012 or 2013 lol, just remember him incubating eggs to try to get the right pokemon or w.e
I like how the game ui and graphics style look like the Dragon Ball Online mmo
oh god i love dragon ball online, i really wish the private servers were more active like they were back in 2016/2017
Oh man this brings memories.
The second password thing was actually introduced due to hacking and the devs thought it would help (it didnt).
I used to LOVE this game but I made 3 different account, all got hacked and couldnt recover a single one. I felt devasted because my friends gave me special digimons eachtime and I decided I should just stop or they'll would continue giving me things
Seeing your fullvideo gave me a massive whiplash, Silver lake uses to be one of the hard levels.
I remember that game, I played it frequently and leveling was so much harder, but now it is region locked and I can't play it in germany anymore
The intro song to the show was 🔥🔥
Man.. I really miss playing Online Digimon game... Used to play this. Started with playing Digimon Battle Online. But sadly, shutdown...
Now the game gives you to much xp, im not against that, but, at least, they should change the level required for evolutions so i can play more with every piece of the evolution line.
i played this game like 10 years ago and im still missing playing this game
Ya know, when I played this game as a kid, it took me a week of post school playing to get to Trex with Gun stage
Crazy lol
Idk if there's any difference between the website and the steam version, but you should try the steam one just in case, idk what happened with the xp
wow it is still alive? my gawd!
i wanted to play the game again for the nostalgia but it is region locked now for SEA countries????
I would have got your Digimon, "WayDotomon"
I miss when that game was good but after everything some admins and players did more and more ppl did leave
i am actually playing DMO those are bots sad to say the grind is hard but they have been giving away lots of Sss/sss+ digimon that are normally expensive gacha the game gets fun when you get an SSS/SSS+ only most old digimons are kinda useless their stats are bad
return and scan is for items from late-early/mid and late game on early game is somewhat rare to get an scannable item.
The graphics look pretty cool tbf
I really wonder what they have done to this game.
When I used to play (I played for about a month or two during release, and then some time after), leveling took so much more time, the tutorial was at least much better than whatever that was. That silver lake zone seem to exist only to farm levels and skip all the zones the game had before, as normally quests would have a minimum requirement, those daily quests can be done as early as level 1 and gives so much exp.
This was my childhood
Veemon was my to go digimon, agumon also
digimon RPG is stilll ON since January 22, 2002 and DMO since October 30, 2009 and still has active and also we just got 1 new map/expasion and level cap from 140 to 170 a ton of new systems and updates for digimon. and the tamers are dropped within the game. also the chess piece is Yggdrasil and check digimon wiki to know more about it.
I started playing this game in 2012 it was much more fun back in the day.
I remember being so disappointed in this. lol Wonder if we'll ever get a decent DigiMMO
I heard Super Rumble is good but who knows if we'll ever get that in English
Reaching lvl 50 so fast!!! It took me alot more time and I did it at the ice place way way before reaching digital island
Wait are you sure this isn't a private server? It certainly had that vibe lol
And therein lies the absurdity. Nope this is the official server on the official game, there actually are private servers that exist in which they have removed all of the P2W aspects LOL.
@@Waydots and slowed down the leveling? Lmao. Unreal the visuals aren’t actually that bad but my god the game looks so janky in power scaling
A be Digimon mmo is out called super rumble but only Korean players can play it now, we have no idea if it’ll come to us or not
You must try this game : Riders of Icarus
The game of generations that love taming.
honestly the reason DMO never came to your attention sooner is because the game is and always has been lackluster. there's a decent KMMO buried under everything, but the problem is that the company still has a huge ways to go on making things accessible.
I remember playing this games when I was like 13.. Now am 23 wow
Time flies 😩
Cant stop playin this game
"you never knew about" actually I knew about it years ago and many others did too. However, the game never gave you this much exp.
The UI looks very similar to a Korean mmo I loved called Closers 🤔
I love the game since 2009
The game is for the whales that keep playing , so they gave certain quests a mass amount of exp so they can go straight to the cash shop.
i will care to explain some things here
1. Back then they dont give a ton of Exp when playing early on. The thing is so many people get ban and people make multiple accounts that they made it easier tro start over again if you get banned or a returning player who wants to catch up. remmmember before i needed a hours to get to the next evolution atleast with so much work to do.
Later in the game, its so Grindy that you kill hundreds for hours using stacking EXP boosts and you level up like 1 an hour XD
But what about the wings?
riight i was waiting for him to pull through for the wings haha
it was for the byiomon he hatched on the tutorial, the wings allow you to ride the last for of it
o geeze this game has changed alot
it use to actually have leveling arc unlike now dam
I remember when Leveling in this game was an actual battle😂😂. Now to new players it seems so easy
The level cap increase is harder than ever, once you get level 150 it'll take about a week or 2 for 1 more level.
@@CrownSD1or just 2 full Kaiser Tour
@forteexe1335 if you don't dc lol. I have a potatoes for a pc and I dc every so often.
@@CrownSD1 tell me about that, 4Gb Ram,GT 730,Intel Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz XD
I play this since 2012 and I wish I had a better Digimon MMO. But unfortunately that's the best digimon mmo that exists. So because I like Digimon, I play it.
I use to play this game back at the start. I even had a Japanese Account and played it there before its global launch. I loved this game more than anything. until it became a pay to win game after like 3 years of launch so sad... playing through the zones and leveling was so much of this game, boost ruins all of it.
Same here, played for years but it is definitely sad that p2w stopped all progress or made it almost impossible to do new content.
I played it twice I guess, but it's just bad n it gets worst as time pass
You should see how much farming was required before they give you these fast level up quest.
Believe it or not, this game is better than how it was. Once you know what youre doing (even though the game is bad at telling you what you have to do.) Theres a lot to levels, items, digimon, digimon fusions (jogress) and the game is quite f2p friendly now, up til end game at least.
I havent pla this in along whil. Def downloading again
if you want to understand that intro, watch Digimon X-Evolution, its a movie
I got an 11 year ban for buying gehena from a guy who apparently duplicated them
owww thats messed up how did you buy it i mean from trade or from shop
id like to point out that during the early days, the exp was horrendously low. like that 5k exp? that was as good as youre getting from quests.
