Thanks :) when i first saw it i thought it was a pouting, but when I saw its barbel I thought it was a Cod with a large rounded body and Very large eyes lol. never seen a pouting caught on the Holderness coast before, so it was a pleasant suprise
Now here's the thing: We used to catch loads of pouting in Sussex. I think the first fish I ever caught was a pouting (1969) but now they are a rarity. i suspect that like flounders (also rare) they were used for POT BAIT and the numbers decimated.
Yes indeed Pounting are a rarity, flounders are still being caught now and then and I catch flounders regularly on the west coast near Morcombe but not so much on the Yorkshire coast
Second fish was definitely a pouting. There’s been quite a few being caught lately. Lovely video- lovely bit of coast. Well done on beating the blank!
