Thanks for that John. Do you know what won the EOBC? I could't come up to watch this year. I've seen the Flattie Bash results, but nothing yet from the main event.
Brilliant to see you doing a coastline I am vaguely familiar with. Some nice catches and thank you so much as always, for doing the mark guide. I know a lot of anglers are quite guarded by all that and I get it, but for people looking to explore areas safely, your guides are invaluable. Keep it up and tight lines 👍🏻
Pretty good session Michael. I was surprised that you caught codling in flat calm conditions. Here in the south western part of Ireland codling are not very plentiful from the shore but they can be caught. I know of just one mark where I have had codling in daylight. Even then you need stormy conditions and big baits. Another mark fishes only in the dark. And it has to be almost too stormy for safety for any success. Very enjoyable as always, thank you Michael.
Many thanks Jerry - apparently you can catch codling throughout the year on this stretch of coastline and in different conditions - although I believe you are more likely to catch them in rougher conditions and at night in the winter. Many are caught on single worm baits.
Hi Michael, what a contrast between the two days. As you have said, it’s a matter of luck whether the codling are there on the day. Nice to see you get one or two though. They looked like they were well fed. Always look forward to your videos.
Thanks a lot Chris. Those that were fishing here were 'locals' and said this stretch of coast had been poor this winter; however, a 14lb cod had come from Easington in a match the weekend prior. I was fortunate to set up where a few fish were feeding - the guy to my right on the first day had one dogfish and a whiting and the chap fishing there on the second day blanked.
A brilliant watch buddy totally enjoyed it well done on your codling and your other fish you caught. Aldbrough is one of really favourite venue but it as been snaggy since them storms again really enjoyed the video buddy tight lines 🎣👍
Just what I was hoping for , how nice to see that there is still a few codling around .. and even nicer to see them go back .. sadly I'm seeing way to many people here on UA-cam taking undersized fish ..but congratulations on a great session. Best regards.
@@rodsangleuk6283 dont stop what your doing because it works ... and flatfish have there place in the mix ..how many people would miss out on a a good sole . Great entertainment .
Many thanks for that - was hoping to be back there over winter, but my vehicle was out of action. Will try a few more Holderness venues when I've got the time!
Really enjoyed the video and well done on the Codling. A 6hr drive for me this weekend in search of Snapper at Karamea (top of NZ's South Island West coast)
I have seen few anglers in the last few weeks went to this section of the country and caught coddling, so there is no surprised to see you managed to get some too. Well done.
Another great video, a beautiful location, great camerawork as usual, and we’ll produced, some nice fish in the first session, it can be a bit hit and miss whether you catch a cod or not but I guess we’re lucky enough to have any at all, looking forward to more videos on the Holderness coast, although it’s a long trip for you 👍🏻
Looks like you had a nice trip to East York's overall,a few fish , great weather and great video too.A lot of visiting anglers who catch up here mention how well fed the fish look too with big fat belly's. I believe it's to do with the Dogger Bank, a shallow area off the East coast that is rich in fish food,,and fish !. I noticed both your rods look very supple what are they please ?.Kind regards & tight lines .Michael.
Thanks Michael. Yes, the codling in my thumbnail for this video had a big gut - hopefully they'll pack on weight and come back when much bigger. The rods used here are Colmic 07s.
With 3 codling in 4 casts at the beginning of the first session I thought (well hoped) that you were in with a shout for a codling fest. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be but a great video regardless and it was nice to see a couple of codling at least. Like someone said, they're like hens teeth these days! Interesting scenery. Was that some kind of drainage pipe sticking out of the cliff that had been exposed by erosion and the the cliff receding? If so, would it have originally been part of a field drainage system I wonder? Anyway, fascinating stuff. Stay safe and stay healthy. Cheers. Ken
Nice vid again thanks for posting pity about the snags.may i ask what continental rods are you using its pure pleasure fishing you doing looks enjoyable to me.
Thanks Mike - yes the RidgeMonkey bucket seat was a good buy. Originally bought when I was suffering from knee pains - I've got long legs and its much higher than a normal seat box, so I wasn't having to bend my knee too much.
Another good video cobber what a awesome looking location. Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick
Thanks again Nick 👍
I will be definitely give this a watch when I get home from work tonight 🎣👍

You do put the miles in!! So nice to see some codling, just a shame we dont see them at Southend!🐟
Cheers Chris. Used to get codling from the black jetty on Canvey and I once caught one about 6oz off the beach at Westcliff about 8 years ago.

Thanks Michael - I should make more of an effort to target codling and rays - but I seem to be more drawn to fishing for flat fish!

Congratulations on the 5k subs, richly deserved!
Many thanks for that and your continued support - I'll have a community post about that soon.
Nice to see you catch a codling well done
Thanks Mark 👍

Wow great video again.
Nice one Tony.
Hope your hand gets better soon.
Great content as always.

Thanks again Mike, will do!

Thanks for that - yes, Holderness is a good choice for a chance of getting amongst codling.
Think you need to come and bait my hooks for me 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Well done on a nice day.
Thanks - I've yet to try the Humber, so please leave something in there for me!

Thanks Steven 👍 Yes, when fit enough and the weather's favourable, I'll be back to Holderness.
Thanks for sharing sir .
Most welcome Carl.
You are very good fishing man
Thanks Richard👍

Good video at least you caught a few fish unlike myself (the other angler) fishing to your right 😁
Thanks Dave - nice to have met you 👍 I'm sure your luck is better than mine at the moment!
Fished there on the Saturday of the eobc. Was abit bigger sea then . Great video 👍 ive just subbed also
Cool, thanks Mick.

Yes - a great start; but my luck soon dried up. Yes, those cliffs are constantly eroding, taking all sorts of structures with them.
Nice vid again thanks for posting pity about the snags.may i ask what continental rods are you using its pure pleasure fishing you doing looks enjoyable to me.
Thanks for that - they are Colmic 07 rods.
A nice video. I'd be very happy with those fish. Is that the Ridge Monkey bucket seat you use?
Do you fond it comfortable?

@RodsAngleUK . Yes I'm only 5 feet 10 inches tall so it might suit me and my old knees then.
Right on with the target species again
Many thanks James.
