Best part of the video was hearing that your little lad is doing so well. I am so chuffed for you all. ❤️❤️❤️
Respect to you too for taking about mental health.🫡👏 Your videos, and others, are my escape at present. So a massive THANK YOU for that.👍👍
Beautiful sunrise, a few fish, and a quiet, relaxing day on the beach. Hopefully,🤞, I'll be getting out soon.
Again, thank you. All the very best to you and the family.🙏🙏

Great video and glad that your son is doing well. Mental health is so important to us all. Before I retired, I had a pressured job and my way of reliving the pressure was also to go fishing, albeit carp fishing. Being outside in the fresh air really helps, as does speaking with a trusted friend or partner. Well done in raising this issue, fella and continued tight lines. 👏👏👏

Really great to hear your lads doing well❤️ I suffered in the darkness of depression for years and I felt I couldn't talk about, an you hit nail square on the button, we are our own worst enemy us men. If I'd of just talked sooner I'd gotten help years sooner! My heart goes out to ya brother it takes a real man to talk about his true feelings ESPECIALLY PUBLICLY LIKE YOU ARE!!! I for 1 love what your doing and I'm certain your gonna smash being a boss father, my fondest memories with my lad growing up was taking him fishing we go all over the show, he's 18 now and he's my best friend we do everything together! You've got it all to come really proud of you🙏❤️

So pleased your little one is doing well. It is so important if your going through a bad patch to talk to someone and tell them how your feeling, I had to have counselling for a family tragedy a good few years ago now and it really helped me get over it, fishing is a great way to relax and decompress it is my pressure valve. Great vid as always mate and tight lines for your next adventure.

First of all many thanks for yet another enjoyable video and well done on catching. Love your videos because you are just a normal bloke so to speak and I would say you have the same sense of humour as I do and you say it how it is. As far as mental health goes men especially men of my age 50+ were brought up to deal with things totally wrong. Keep things bottled up, never open up and talk about things that bother you and actually ask for help. I went through a very bad patch about 6 years ago which I wont go into too much so long story short. My Daughter passed away at 23 years old and around 4 months later my Mother passed suddenly. I went a bit off the rails and started drinking and taking days off work and due to stress my irritable bowel syndrome which I already had came back with a vengeance due to stress. Had more time off work and dropped down to a 4 day week and ended up going to hospital for a camera down my throat and then at a later date up the other end. I was still drinking, not eating or sleeping very well and my Mrs sat me down and begged me to go to the Doctors and just tell him exactly how I felt and what was going on. He suggested antidepressants with a sedative to help me sleep and I was not up for it at all. Big man asking for help and not the done thing but best thing I ever did. Took them for around 12 months and it eased my IBS but also things that would normally bother me I took with a pinch of salt and I ended up getting back to my normal self. I wasn't drinking, I was sleeping, going back to the gym and eating a healthy diet and came off the tablets when the time was right. All I can say is if anyone out there have any problems is don't bottle it up, talk to someone about it as a problem shared is a problem halved. Sorry for such a long comment and there is more to the story but it's the short version. I'm not saying take antidepressants but it's what helped me but more important talking about it. Back to your video, it looked a beautiful morning but very cold and was it my eyes or where there people surfing? Take care buddy and I'm glad to hear your son is doing well, family is important and one day he will be beside you on that beach and probably catching more than you lol.

Thanks for sharing, Anthony. Sorry for your loss, but I'm glad you're doing better pal!
Like you say, what works for one, might not work for the other. But everyone goes through struggles, we just need to get comfortable with sharing when we do!

    • @anthonyjones2465
      @anthonyjones2465 Рік тому

There is a bright side to the story. As I was working a 4 day week we started to get into debt and falling behind with the bills for around 6 months. Then out of the blue we had a phone call which I thought was a wind up but it wasn't. We had won £30.000 on the Postcode Lottery I kid you not. We cleared all the bills and with some of the money left over I bought a flat pack log cabin 20ft x 13ft. Took a few weeks to build it but it's now a games room where I can go and relax. I have a pool table, 55" tv with sky, lager on draught. I wish you could see it as it looks very high end with a bar and everything, double glazing and patio doors. I have the large cardboard cheque with £30.000 on it framed behind the bar. Someone up there if you believe in that sort of thing was looking out for me lol

Nice codling. So that's what they look like 😆
Looks a lovely bit of coastline too and always good tonget out and just watch nature do it's thing with the sunrise.
Went out chasing them myself today and ended up with the biggest bite ever from a 3 bearded rockling 😳. Also had a dab, so not the codling or Ray I was hoping for. But had one of the greatest sunsets ever. Colours were unbelievable and very, very good for the soul.
Microphone worked great by the way.👍

My eldest son was born premature. Spent time in an incubator and then on an Ohio. The sound of the beeping monitors in the paediatric ICU is still a strong memory 20+ years later! Anyway our lad is now 23, about 6ft 4, a riding instructor and just took up scuba diving. I know the road is long but you are doing everyone a service with your struggle honesty. Good to hear your wee fellas doing well. Have watched a few of your videos now, shown a couple to my old man, he's 84 now and was born in Hull evacuated to outside Hedon and spent most of his youth around there. He used to fish round Paull and the Hull docks only for eels. His uncle George was a mad keen fisherman used to get out down Spurn point, my dad can remember some of the cod used to appear monstrous to him as a kid. Those waves look like pond ripples compared to the surf I fish in🤣🤣 🤣

I like the big flat openness of mablethorpe, some cracking cod have come out, flatties and occasionally bass turn up, and rays sometimes make an appearance. Glad to hear that your son is doing well and that a gruff northern bloke like you can be open and and honest about mental health issues. Please keep up the good work on that front.
Regarding the new gear, the microphone is a great improvement. The chest mounted GoPro however is a big step backwards for these reasons:
    * The frame is obscured by big hands and reel so the viewer can’t see what’s happening when you’re reeling in.
    * The viewer can’t necessarily see what you’re looking at and often talking about - eg bites on the rod tips and what you were doing whilst pulling the leads out of the rocks.
    * Viewing proceedings from a lower perspective gives a poorer view of what’s happening in the water.
    * The most natural view point is at eye level for this sort of vicarious experience. This is only provided by a head cam perspective.
When I found your channel, I thought it was ‘awfully’ good for the reason that you used a head cam. So I really hope you revert back to the head cam; particularly as you provide some really good steady video by not swinging your head about.
Really appreciate your videos and thanks for all the effort that goes into producing them.

Thanks for the feedback on the gopro. I do think the chest mount has its place. But don't worry, I won't be ditching the head mount altogether. I've got some playing around to do between now and summer 👍🏼

Fantastic video, great to see that your lad is making progress and your taking so openly about men’s mental health. I find being out in the fresh air and being by the sea so cathartic and provides a reset on life. Have you done much fishing down by Fraisthorpe beach?

Thanks Gavin! Definitely recommend getting out in nature, by far the best tonic.
I haven't fished Fraisthorpe before mate no. Is that the one that the farm charges to park at? Think I went once on a whim, and it was rammed, so I turned around and went elsewhere.

@@theawfulangler yes that’s the one it’s far less busy this time of year, they’ll still charge to park by the beach. If you walk in the direction of skipsea there’s some really good unfished beach.

Forgot to mention that if you take a look at WSF they have a rod building section on there with some of the best rod builders in the country. They will do it exactly as you want it and in record time and it will look as good as new if not better. You can also have a look at some of the photos on there of the rods they have done to get an idea of the quality of their work.
