dude you have no idea how much you helped me. THANK YOU i had a pile of used ones and now I know what i have and how to test
glad if helps, few beers or 17, are always well appreciated www.paypal.me/BATS189 cheers
This is the best instruction for testing shift solenoid. Thanks sir.
thanks and cheers
Nice explanation of the solenoids!
Thanks & Cheers
From Neutral to Drive my Tacoma 08 jump then its get normal....do
u think it's the shift solenoid. It have 3 code..about the transmission..
It sure would b nice if they made a servo with Teflon rings on it for the 4f27e. That way u wouldn’t have to bush the case. They make them for the 5r55
Hi thanks for the video. What is the fitting you used to connect the air line to the solenoid?
Hi, Jamec Pem air hose fitting and custom made on lathe the solenoid end. cheers
Hi great video, very helpful, so the line pressure is 70psi? Or is there less at the solenoids than the actual line pressure? Thanks
hi, testing with air is a bit different to how they actually work with fluid...not to take into account heat. 70psi is good to test with air most of time, and depending on what kind of solenoid you are testing, 10.5v is considered a flat battery, so if it works well at 10.4v it shouldbe good at 12v or 14.3v where normal vehicle operates at. cheers
If you just connecting the selenoid wires without connecting the aire hose do you still hear the selenoid make a clicking noise when it get the 10v ?
hi, you should be able to hear it...but not always, that is why I also check with air pressure. air is also thinner than trans fluid, so if it doesn't leak with air it will definitely not leak with trans fluid. cheers
Hay can you point me to what control reverse or how it selects reverse ,in these A340 trans ? Thanks
hi, contact me on our facebook link facebook.com/Yep-Thats-It-103051017785435 , we can exchange vids, pics & beers for info on there. cheers
I have check engine light and it is the Torque converter Lock up Solenoid, is there a way it failed because it is dirty and is it possible I can clean it instead of replace it? Thanks so much for the video. Very nicely done.
hi, often you can improve them by flushing. biggest trick is to de-magnetize the solenoid first as the metallic debris becomes magnetic and is attracted to coil and plungers inside the solenoid; hard to flush or blow out with air pressure. cheers
Thank you so much for the information.
Thanks great video. How would you de-magnetize the solenoid?
hi, we have a demagnetizer ( also called degauss ). we roll the solenoids on the plate and it will demagnetize the solenoid. cheers
Hi, cool video, what kind of parts washer is that?
hi, my father made it over 20 years ago from an hydramatic 05 pan and a pump installed in a 20l drum, neodymium magnets are under the pan to catch metallic swarf and solvent recirculates. cheers
@@YepThatsIt cool thanks, i have been thinking about making my own lately. Would it be ok to wash out those solenoids with a water base solvent or you only recommend a fast evaporating?
Waw
cheers
do you bolt the ground wire to the valve body? Thank you
hi, yes. make sure you have good earth strap connection to chassis as usually they are bolted to paint...the only contact is through the thread of the bolt. cheers
Hi i got a question so i recently got a code for the torque converter circuit p0740 on my 98 jeep cherokee. I change the filter , transmission fluid and tcc solenoid and my jeep doesn't move at all when put into reverse or drive. Trans fluid level is good and i checked the torque converter stator and it rotates clockwise and locks up counter clock wise. I thought it might be the shitty solenoid kit i got from ebay. I heard the rostra brand is good thought about trying their tcc solenoid.
hi, yeah people often bring in ebay solenoids for us to fit for them, most are used/contaminated/leaking anyway. cheers
What kind of transmission oil do you put in a 4 runner
hi, you can look it up with your preferred brand ( or check out on one we like to use www.tritechlubricants.com/lube-guide/ ) cheers
Why is my externally mounted solenoid buzzing quite loudly ?..I assume it's faulty, it also weeps trans oil
Should I replace it or clean it. The car still shifts gears reasonably well...
hi, you ned to test it with multimeter. itcould be worn and/or contaminated with metallic swarf, or bad elecrical connection, weak battery, bad earth etc. cheers
Hi is the lock up solenoid same as the shift solenoid? I mean are the interchangeable? And do they both go on and off? I bought a rostra solenoid to replace a faulty solenoid that didn’t click and my transmission is a340 on a 1986 Toyota pickup- I replaced solenoid number 1 and now my truck shifts into first only and then my driveshaft shakes so I have to pop truck in neutral to stop the noise from my drive shaft. Before the solenoid swap I did not have that vibration coming from my shaft so I’m wondering what went wrong. Prior to swap my truck would at times rev up but first gear wouldn’t engage until I pulled over and tried again then it would run normal
hi, i`m pretty sure that they arent the same or interchangeable. you need to be careful as some solenoids look the same but are different in that some are normally open and some are normally closed. cheers
@@YepThatsIt thanks a bunch
@@YepThatsIt hi again in you test I noticed that only the shift solenoids make click sound when you apply power and the lockup solenoid only clicks when you apply air- is it normal for lockup solenoid to only make click sound when you apply power and air at the same time? I’m asking because I just received my new lockup solenoid and it only clicks when I apply power and air at the same time and it’s usually open like your test but closed when I apply air and testing good

Appreciate your video mate got a ? Im tryn to figure out which one on the vavle body is the lock up solenoid i have the a340f transmission in a 01 Tacoma and from what ive seen some people say its the one next to the bell housing but i think its backwards and its the one at the back of the valve body i dont want to get them backwards any info id appreciate thankss.......
My 02 Lexus RX300,doesn’t shift properly. When I put it in drive, accelerate slowly, I can feel the first shifting, normally. But,two, three seconds later,a second shift kicked in,but felt very hard or strong shift, like a pulling shift forward and then smooth out. Is that a shift solenoid or something else ? I tune up already still same. I couldn’t identify which one is which, because there there are three of them...so,exactly, what caused that symptom? Thanks
Replace all the solonoids to be sure.
hi, if high mileage trans, could be worn clutch/brake and piston binding....or pressure cross leak somewhere. can be solenoid or valve body binding as well...always start with basic checks and work up from there. cheers
02 Kia Rio Cinco, eng. running trans. in gear, the car vibrates rapidly. Accelerate or put it in Park or neutral it smooths out. Anyone have possible causes?
hi, hard to say without having a look....check mounts and low idling. cheers
Are those rostra solenoids any good ? I am about to order a kit
hi, sonnax & rostra are now the same company. very good quality parts in my opinion. cheers
@@YepThatsIt ok thanks for the input ! My kit just came in yesterday so I will be dropping pan and seeing
I have a kia carens 2002 model recently change auto trans vehicle was working good for about 4 months then it stops working
hi, hopefully you took it back to who sold you the trans.cheers
Tis not a Bracket .... it is an Adapter you turned on the lathe.
cheers
Yeah if you mix the solenoids up I doubt it's going to do Funny things ... probably not good at all to make that mistake ...
Mark them with a Scratch or two before removing them ... make it easy to confirm original location.
cheers for that ;-)
Selenoid car volt?
hi, hi I test at 10.5v because a car 12v battery is considered flat at 10.5v, so will definitely work better at 12 plus volts. cheers
