+ExoParadigmGamer I actually just wrote a comment about this before reading this comment. I'm glad to see you admit you went too far. It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong.
That loop clipping to death glitch is actually pretty easy to trigger. At that part, the road curves to the right, so it's completely understandable for a player to tilt the analog stick right to run along the curve. But it's exactly that that triggers the clipping glitch, I've tested it a couple of times myself. While I generally don't like Arin's opinion on games, especially Sonic, I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he probably tried tilting the analog stick right and the glitch happened. And honestly, that happening to a player at the very beginning of the game is pretty bad and can leave a very negative impression on a player for the remainder of the game. So then much smaller glitches and hiccups will seem bigger than they are and a testament to the game's overall quality.
UPDATE 6/13/2018: I have relisted this video by popular demand. A surprising number of people had asked why I had taken this video down, which means people still want to watch it. I had taken it down in response to new information compiled by the folks responsible for Better Sonic Adventure DX (Better SADX), a mod of the PC version of Sonic Adventure which restores many Dreamcast exclusive textures and other elements to the PC version, which is itself based on the GameCube port. At the time of writing of this review, neither Better SADX nor this document existed. For those interested in a detailed breakdown of things that were altered or removed in the GameCube transition, check out the linked document below. I was surprised at how major changes were in terms of texture resolution and lighting, as well as tiny, subtle differences to enemy AI and boss design. Frankly, I never picked up on any of these differences on my own and it makes this review come off as extremely dated. Nevertheless, I have no plans to redo this video any time soon, so I might as well leave it up for the Sonic Adventure 2 Battle half of the video if nothing else. dreamcastify.unreliable.network/ For the ultimate Sonic Adventure 1 experience, I highly recommend Better SADX, as it best combines the individual advantages of all three versions and restores much of what was cut in the GameCube conversion, including higher resolution textures and the original lighting engine. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=299808681
Huh, dident expect this, thx anyways, I think that will make the pc version of SA1 more playable since i bought before SLW, SADX and SA2, but i refunded all of them becuase 1; sonic lost world dident meet my expectations and 2; sonic adventure 1 and 2 would mostly crash for no reason, i do have the GTX 960 and tried installing them to both the C and E discs, but that dident do much either. So i hope Maybe Better SADX will solve those problem and a lot more. again Thx anyways.

The GameCube analogy stick still senses full 360 input but the octagon base around the stick tends to force it into one of eight directions when you push it all the way. Its a doubled edged sword, it makes smooth 360 turns harder to do but does make it easier to keep your character in a straight line.
Right. I was a bit perplexed when the phrase "analogue technology" started getting mentioned. The Gamecube controller shell (and Wii Nunchuck) simply has indentations for the 8 key directions. But you'll still get full range of movement between those indentations.
I find that while it is possible for the shape of the bezel to force the GameCube's analog stick into one of its corners, it isn't that easy for it to do so; as such, 360 degree movement is barely harder to do with the GameCube's stick than any analog stick with the standard circular bezel, if at all, and it's not enough of a drawback to offset the advantage of more easily moving your character in a straight line. I can understand Nintendo possibly thinking it was worth making the bezels for analog sticks on the 3DS onward a circle like everyone else, and I don't think it was a bad decision, but I think it would be great if the brought it back with the controller for their next system. However, as someone who is very much acquainted with this controller, I can say with certainty that 360 degree movement is very much existant with its analog sticks and in my opinion very easy to do so, though I can see some, especially those whk aren't used to it, having trouble doing so.
I am not unbiased. I try to be open-minded, but I can't say that I don't have my own predilections that lead me to treat things one way or another. Either way, thanks for the compliment. :^)
Every person is biased to some extent. It's kind of impossible to be 100% objective when it comes to reviewing, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. I like people like Exo and Johnny because they try (and mostly succeed).
@@ExoParadigmGamer *If I were to rate the post-DreamCast remakes of the Sonic Adventure duology* Sonic Adventure 2: Battle - Remaster (Remake looking at it on its own merits) Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut - Rebreak (close to Reprise, the current version of Re-Meh) Sonic Adventure 1 HD - Rebreak Sonic Adventure 2 HD - Remaster (close to Reprise) Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 (DC versions) - Replace
Fun Fact: Big the Cat actually did get his model updated with more polygons, but since he was the only one still following the original model sheets you don't notice it as easily
*Just a clarification on what I mean by texture draw distance:* It's only an issue if you're playing these games with traditional RCA composite (Yellow, Red, White) cables. If you've ever played a Dreamcast game this way, you'll know that the textures get really blurry after they get a certain distance away from the camera. The GameCube doesn't have this pop in issue at all; the textures look great from any distance even with RCA cables. At the end of the day, I recommend you purchase a set of Tomee VGA cables for your Dreamcast, and a pair of Wii Component Cables for your Wii, so that you can play the DC and GCN versions of this game in 480 progressive scan resolution. When you do, the Dreamcast's issues with blurry textures disappear completely, and the game will look a hell of a lot better on your HDTV. I'm not sure why, but when DC footage is converted to interlaced analog, the texture draw distance just goes to shit. Just thought that was worth clarifying.
I'd highly recommend against the Tome cables, they didn't work well for me. I'd recommend the Toro or Hanzo since it's one of the best VGA boxes for the Dreamcast
I've seen The Golden Bolt's discussion of the Steam port's Dreamcast conversion mod, and he actually brings up that despite the "Director's Cut" subtitle, the GameCube port had a different director from the regular Dreamcast title, since Takashi Izuka was busy losing weight directing Sonic Heroes. Does this explain the issues that prevent DX from being a Replace game, or the factors that put it up to a Remake score? Well, it depends on who you ask, but there's a chance it could explain it.
I hate how whenever I say Sonic adventure 2 is my most favorite Sonic game ever, people always say I'm just nostalgia by it. The Adventure fans are getting bullied every single day in the Sonic community by having an opinion, and the community are defending these bullies, like WTF?
+Speed Freak280 You should see the SA3 facebook I'm apart of it and people just love to talk shit about us. Hell in the Dragon Ball fanbase if you like the original dub of Z your all of a sudden not a true dbz fan because you don't like Kai or read the Manga.
+Speed Freak280 On April 19th, I'm launching a new site and community which will have a sub forum that segregates Sonic canons to prevent prejudice. There will be a Section for Main Series Sonic titles on it.
It's funny in my case too, because, well, I never played it in my childhood and I have no nostalgia feelings to it. Still, it's my favourite Sonic game.
Screw the haters, I'm glad that you called Egoraptor out on his attitude. That's one of the reasons why these games have been getting a lot of negative press. Some big youtubers that don't even like the game to begin with put up half-assed opinionated reviews without even doing the appropriate amount of research just to fuck with people because they enjoy profiting off of belittling people that enjoy things that they don't. Your reviews of these games are far more comprehensive than just about anything Arin could ever hope to shit out, because he thinks he knows way more than he really does, and it's been pretty much confirmed that he fucks with the Sonic fanbase and blows the series' missteps out of proportion for views and cheap laughs. Good on you for saying what needs to be said.
Same here! As much as I like Projared, his review of Sonic Adventure 2 was garbage! And that started the trend that SA2 sucked. However, I disagree! Sonic just can't catch a break, can he? I seriously consider him underrated at this rate! -_-
TytheGuy44 Same! Most people who jumped on the bandwagon haven't even played SA2 and just are hearing someone else's opinion and taking it as fact. Also Lol are names are super similar
i like SA1 and 2 for what they are. Of course they have flaws but you have to understand the games were made at a time when 3d games were becoming a big thing, they were still trying their best with what they could work with to make the games enjoyable and playable.
I'll gladly give you a like just for taking a dump on Egoraptor's opinions. Aside from everything you mentioned, one thing I've always wanted to be implemented into the Sonic Adventure remakes (particularly the first game) is the ability to play as Super Sonic in normal levels. I can understand not implementing that in SA2, but SA1's Super Sonic was clearly made with regular platforming and running around in mind. DX was their second chance to put that in and I was always disappointed they didn't go through with it, and even more disappointed when the HD version didn't. Also, slightly lowering the decibels of the background music and (most importantly) spacing out the dialogue clips so characters don't interrupt one another would have been greatly appreciated in SA2.
Skeeter Mania I didn't say they were increased, I'm saying just lower them in general. I've only played two versions of this game (neither of which are the DC version) and in both they seemed a little too loud to me.
+Lakitu1134 Well an unused voice clip for Tikal(The glowing orb that gives you hints) mentions Gathering 50 rings and pressing the action button while jumping to turn into Super Sonic. This implied that in Super sonic was able to be playable outside of the Perfect chaos battle but was scrapped because the level geometry probably wasn't meant for Super sonic.
Spacing out the dialogue would be nice in most cases, but the "You're comparing yourself to me? HAH! You're not even good enough to be -" "I'LL MAKE YOU EAT THOSE WORDS" actually works really well with the overlap.
+thomas garrett (Pokemastertomm) I found that argument to be very accurate myself, though I still think those games are still fun to play atleast. I would never call them game of the year though.
As much as i loved Fallout 3 and Skyrim, they dont deserve GOTY in their current state. Doesnt mean they are bad though. But i just hate that bethesda wont put more effort in QA.
My main issue with the DX port is the simplified lighting engine and careless retexturing which really killed the coherence of the visuals. It’s a major factor to gloss over when comparing the two
Baylor Diamond eh, but this isn’t a boost game. You’re not just flying past the whole stage; even in sonic levels there are slower platforming sections, not to mention the hub world. It’s not a matter of individual textures being a little different, the changed lighting affects the feel of whole stages
the texturing wasnt exactly lazy they actually changed the textures to compensate for the fact there was no lighting engine with many bloom effects and bumps.
@@galfinsp7216 well, Sonic's feet had a stretch effect, and a blur effect. The blur effect is similar to Tails' when he's using his twin tails at top speed. The European and North American Dreamcast versions has stretch for Sonic's shoes, but not the blur. And every other version doesn't have the blur effect. Just look up onion blur dx
Thank you for being fair in almost every way possible. You are one of the most unbiased reveiwers out there. The gaming community and sonic fan base needs more people like you
The gamecube controller's analog stick is completely analog, you can move it in any direction you want, it just has the octagon on there so you can snap to the 8 main directions easily. We know it's totally analog because in Melee you can do slight angles with Firebird and Firefox recoveries, rather than just 8 directions it can go 352 if you hold the control stick correctly.
+ExoParadigmGamer You forgot to talk about the chao garden in SA2 battle gc with the gba where you can get special eggs whereas the ps3 u couldnt get them. But very good vid man

Very Excellent ROR vid Exo! Shame that I checked it out so late. I think it's safe to say that you, me, and Nickon officially ENDED the Whole Sonic Adventure Hate Bandwagon that plagued the online gaming community last year lol. I barely even see people talking about it now.
Fun fact in SA2 you were originally going unlock Super Sonic & Super Shadow if you A-Rank green hill zone but time constraints had it removed ports still have the unlock text in the code so guess they were too lazy
22:39 You mean I could have had less of a hard time collecting A ranks!? Recently 100% the game and while it feels good to say I did man was it a pain in the ass somtimes!
What makes the (slightly toxic) manbaby Classicists (that's NOT to say ALL of them are; don't persecute me!) worse is that they're partially to blame for later Sonic games only having Sonic as a playable character and his friends either being absent or "of no importance" (to quote Modern Eggman).
Theres actually more things about the cutscenes, I dont quite remember them all but a video I watched detailing why The cutscenes in Battle are inferior to the dreamcast version, one of the biggest reasons was something along the lines of tne Dreamcast being able to arbitrarily layer graphics. Like things in Battle were layered in the wrong order, so lighting was awful and some effects were missing entirely bc they were behind other things. Vid is "Why SA2B's cutscenes suck" for anyone wanting to learn why the cutscenes were wonky in Battle
It's also worth mentioning that some of Adventure 2's Dreamcast DLC (Kart stages, 2P costumes, and themes) didn't carry over to either of the later two versions, and not buying the DLC for the HD version of either games basically makes them a little bit closer to the Dreamcast versions (this is more noticeable with Adventure 2 on the title screen). Also the GG games didn't get carried over to the DX HD version either.
A bit unrelated, but have you seen Game Grumps' Let's Play of S3&K? I fucking HATE how biased Arin is. I like how he complains about the game punishing you if you miss a jump in Ice Cap Zone, something that a TON of older games do, yet when you miss a jump and the game punishes you in a Mario game, HE DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT. I'm sure he's a cool guy, but he would be a terrible game reviewer.
To be fair Aaron admitted on Twitter the Zelda Sequelits is awful & in the first part of dead rising he admitted he sometimes blames games for his own mistakes so he's improving I guess
“And I personally would never want to watch a review that is that long(50 min)” That quote has aged well, you know with EXO’s hour and 20 minute review
Although I adore SADX, the Emerald Coast loop almost always glitches out on my Gamecube. Sometimes I fall through the left, sometimes I veer to the right, sometimes I clip through the floor. Arin might be embellishing a bit, but Emerald Coast is seriously a buggy level with issues in other places.
i feel like you didn’t address a ton of problems in DX such as the night being broken, water glowing, weird water visuals and those visuals carrying onto land, broken lighting, and more
I'm not sure if anyone else said it,but I own both the Dreamcast version of SA2 and the Gamecube port and I noticed something: the Dreamcast version has a pretty laggy vs mode! I'm not sure if it's only the race stages (City escape,Radical Highway, etc.),but the GC version is a lot smoother! By the way,I discovered your channel today and I just watched about 8-10 videos now. You just got a new sub, man! Keep up the good work :)
"Would have saddled you for a pair of 50 minute long videos. I personally would never want to watch a single review for that long." Heh. Heh. I see your opinion changed for SM64 DS. I'm not saying it's a bad thing cause I love your vids, it's just funny.
It gave me a good laugh when you said "the claims about the DX port are very exaggerated", that is so true! I grew with this version, I also have the 360 and Dreamcast versions now and those very small issues people talk about are issues that usually triggers when you want it to and if you play normally it won't. The only actual instance where I found something in the ports to bug me is an invisible wall in Windy Valley in the "Air" section after the tornado one, near the end where we climb a structure to reach the air of the cliff to be pushed on springs before the last ride to end the stage is the only place where invisible walls not matching the graphics is apparent while playing normally and does cause problems to someone who doesn't know in their first attempt.
The part where you mentioned Arin, I agree with most of it, but I went back into SA1 and managed to fall through the bend just before the loops fairly easily. And yea I meant to do it, but it didnt seem to take as much effort as it took you, at least from what I see in the video. Not saying Arin isnt trying to glitch it, because he often just yells and critisizes games just to piss people off (and a reason I miss the older grump episodes)
Amy’s eyes are in the opsite place there supposed to be in game cube in the gameplay the characters are much higher poly than in the cutscenes. But they then sometimes use higher poly model if you look closely. Transparency has probloms too.
110% agree about the Arin Hanson comment. I've never seen that glitch in Sonic Boom, nor the spindash glitch on Emerald Coast before watching him play.
I know this isn't exactly a fair comparison, but the best versions of both Sonic Adventure games are the Steam releases with mods. Both games can run on potatoes, so even a lower end laptop of today's age could probably run them no problem, and modding the games is as easy as a google search and a few clicks. There are mods for SADX that finally give it 16:9 support at any resolution your monitor can handle, as well as customization for those who prefer the lighting engine/character models/textures of the Dreamcast original. Adding mods is as easy as dragging and dropping files into a folder, and checking them in the Mod Loader. You can even reimplement cut features like Super Sonic in regular stages. I know this video is old, but I'm a huge fan of you Exo, and I've probably watched all of your reviews at least 10 times or more. Also, am I the only one who finds it hilarious how poorly the comment at 1:56 has aged?
Great video, as always EPG. Thank you for calling out Bethesda, they have a tendency to release a game with a bunch of glitches. Even though I'm a huge fallout fan, even I can't overlook it.
Just an observation, but you forgot to mention the fact that the DX port of Sonic Adventure runs at 60 FPS as opposed to 30 FPS in the original Dreamcast version, which is an automatic win in my books. Sonic Adventure 2 runs at 60 FPS, regardless of version. Still, great video as always. I have a question though. Will you consider in the future reviewing the Boost formula Sonic games (Unleashed, Colors and Generations), seeing that you really enjoy those games, specifically Colors and Generations?
See, I'm horrible about recognizing framerates. People tell me they can't stand to play games at 30 fps, and I can barely even notice a difference with 60. That, and my Elgato model can only record in 30 fps anyway, so I wouldn't have been able to tell from the footage. My editor is also finickey about rendering in 60.
+ExoParadigmGamer That frame rate statement is a partial truth. It is true that the frame rate is much quicker in the DX version, but it's also pretty inconsistent. Because of this, it has led to people calling the DC version more stable.
+Skeeter Mania I didn't knew the framerate was inconsistent on the Gamecube version of SADX, knowing how much more powerful the system is compared to the Dreamcast. If that's the case, then a game locked 30 FPS is probably better than a game that jumps from 30 to 60 FPS sporadically. I don't know though, I played the Gamecube version via Dolphin Emulator with 60 FPS all the time and assumed the game ran the same on the original hardware. Probably the game was brute forced when playing on Dolphin. I also own the Steam Version, but still prefer the GC version, mainly for the graphical aesthetic. The digital re-release looks worse compared to the GC or even Dreamcast version (especially the water, which looks horrible compared to the previous versions). Also you can hack the game on Dolphin to run in widescreen, though it's a bit glitchy, especially near water.
Marius Urucu Depends, for me I feel much more liberated by a game running at 45-60 fps than a game locked to 30. It depends heavily on frame pacing though. If variable frame rates are not accounted for and it gets stuttery or slow below 60 then yeah I'd rather have it capped at 30.
The 2012 release of SA2 is my favorite, but ONLY after I spent time fixing the sound mixing by lowering the SFX files volume by half. It was absolutely necessary as the game was painful to my ears otherwise, and perhaps even more importantly, I need to hear the kickass music properly when playing through levels. If you search UA-cam for editing sonic adventure 2 sfx volume you should find my instructions with a download link for all the files in the description.
All I ever hated about Sonic Adventure 2: Battle was the fact that each Chao Garden's size were all decreased, compared to their original size in the Dreamcast release, beyond that, I think the game was much better than the original with the introduction of the Tiny Chao Garden, something that the PC and it's re-release on consoles cannot simply bring back due to the way it works, unless they wanted to pretty much defeat the whole purpose of it by emulating it in-game somehow. Honestly though I find the most fascinating thing about the Adventure games as a whole was the introduction of Chao and how much the Chao Garden changed from it's original conception in the first game, all the way to the improvements and additions they brought with Battle. I still wonder if the Chao Playground was originally supposed to have online connectivity to it, if that's true it could be why they never attempted to include it in Battle like they did with the Black Market. Woulda been cool if you could have traded Chao via online connectivity, something like the GTS that exists in Pokemon games nowadays, possibly.
I am not sure if a previous comment brought it up, considering there are 582 of them, but what about the framerate in DX and the HD port of Sonic Adventure? That was to me one of the best upgrades for that version since it moved smoothly just like the sequel. Also another problem I had with the DC version relates to the loading time, is the fact in the adventure fields every time you enter a new area the music resets, which isn't that big of a deal when you think about it, but when you go from the main street of Station Square, to the Hotel, to the Casino, it becomes rather daunting. Nitpick? Yeah, but it still annoying. Lastly, no clue why they changed the text font in the HD version compared to the DC and GC version. Other than that nicely done video. I personally don't mind the issues with the cutscenes (a product of the times, I can live with it), but I had fun watching this.
One minor thing to point out is in Battle, the final cutscene in dark before Final Chase, Rouge's theme is played in the background for the most part, until Rouge talks about the Ultimate Life Form research she discovered. The music stops and a dramatic event song plays for the rest of the cutscene. In the Dreamcast version, it plays Rouge's theme for the whole scene with Rouge and Shadow.
Says he wouldn't watch a video over 50 minutes long. Kids this is a quote from exo. Something's a bit off their sir. Hmm 1 hour ocarina of Time review and MegaMans and bass review. Intresting
as for the collision detection in SA2. the PC version has the best collision detection. The gamecube version's collision is almost exactly the same, the dreamcast version, many walls are merely suggestions.
To be fair, I consider the PSN versions to be ports of the Sonic Adventure games (specifically the Gamecube versions) rather than remakes so it kinda makes sense that they didn't really do any touching up on them.
bemasaberwyn55 Considering that he now has a DST card it's possible. But he mentioned in his Klonoa Heroes review that he's not that big of a fan of RPG'S.
You like to think that Big got tangled up in the plot by accident? My friend and I think he's secretly a Super Secret G.U.N Agent that outranks Rouge and is doing missions over the course of the game.
It seems like every year or so, people will find something "wrong" with a random Sonic game, and possibly say another one isn't so bad. This time it's the adventure games and Heroes. Who knows, next time it could be Sonic Colors and Generations for some reason either made up or overly exaggerated.
+The Untitled Team Actually...I have seen the more lighthearted tone of Sonic Colors go under fire (I think) because the story is "trying too hard to appeal to the kiddies" or something. Personally, I think it's better to have a simple story with cheesy jokes (Sonic Colors) than a complex story riddled with plot holes and Out Of Character moments (Sonic 2006).
I'll say that Bethesda games are super glitchy yes, but the difference is that Bethesda glitches are hilarious, whereas the Sonic glitches are frustrating (Especially in Sonic Heroes)
the dreamcast version is actually worse in some instances or releases of the game, on a stage there's no collision detection on a floor you spawn on, this doesn't affect all releases........... was it SA2 or 1? either way it's a glitch occurring in the original release
+devbyrd1 Same can be said about Skyrim. It was a good game, but it had a lot of glitches and bugs, and bizarre physics. There was this one glitch that made a boss fight completely unplayable and unwinnable. Or carrying a lit torch underwater without extinguishing the torch.

The GameCube analogy stick still senses full 360 input but the octagon base around the stick tends to force it into one of eight directions when you push it all the way. Its a doubled edged sword, it makes smooth 360 turns harder to do but does make it easier to keep your character in a straight line.
Louis Thrift What's an analogy stick?
Right. I was a bit perplexed when the phrase "analogue technology" started getting mentioned. The Gamecube controller shell (and Wii Nunchuck) simply has indentations for the 8 key directions.
But you'll still get full range of movement between those indentations.
It's been removed since the Classic Controller on the Wii.
yes that is true, but why do the digital versions have only 8 directions of movement? I don't get it...
"Sounds like some selective reasoning."

ExoParadigmGamer is probably my favorite youtube reviewer/critic for how thorough and unbiased he is.
+ExoParadigmGamer I think "fair" would be a better word.

Ocean Man You know those things aren't mutually exclusive, right? A game can be good while being a let down in its franchise.
*Just a clarification on what I mean by texture draw distance:*
It's only an issue if you're playing these games with traditional RCA composite (Yellow, Red, White) cables.
This is a lack of mipmapping and anisotropic filtering, it's not really anything to do with draw distance.
Sonic adventure, Sonic adventure 2, and Sonic heroes weren't bad games.
They were good
They were undoubtedly the best 3D sonic games period.
@Timpani That's stupid the Werehog is fucking terrible it's like God of War with less Combos and it looks more stupid :/

+Tornado1994 So what will it's URL be?
It's funny in my case too, because, well, I never played it in my childhood and I have no nostalgia feelings to it. Still, it's my favourite Sonic game.
Speed Freak280 Yeah. Goes to show that there's extreme bias with no gray area in the gaming industry.
-_-
TytheGuy44 I can't stand Projared's review of SA2. it felt like he jumped on a Bandwagon for the sake of it.
Jumped on a Bandwagon? I felt like he STARTED that Bandwagon!
>.
How can you tell the decibels were increased (and even then, how many were increased)?
Skeeter Mania I didn't say they were increased, I'm saying just lower them in general. I've only played two versions of this game (neither of which are the DC version) and in both they seemed a little too loud to me.
+Lakitu1134 Well an unused voice clip for Tikal(The glowing orb that gives you hints) mentions Gathering 50 rings and pressing the action button while jumping to turn into Super Sonic. This implied that in Super sonic was able to be playable outside of the Perfect chaos battle but was scrapped because the level geometry probably wasn't meant for Super sonic.
+Lakitu1134 ...so the DX version not including Super Sonic made you feel DX ?
Spacing out the dialogue would be nice in most cases, but the "You're comparing yourself to me? HAH! You're not even good enough to be -" "I'LL MAKE YOU EAT THOSE WORDS" actually works really well with the overlap.
That point about Bethesda games is perfect.
+thomas garrett (Pokemastertomm) I found that argument to be very accurate myself, though I still think those games are still fun to play atleast. I would never call them game of the year though.
thomas garrett Makes me dread to see if the Switch version of Skyrim is gonna be just bad as the PS3 version at launch.
As much as i loved Fallout 3 and Skyrim, they dont deserve GOTY in their current state. Doesnt mean they are bad though. But i just hate that bethesda wont put more effort in QA.
And along came Fallout 76.
those comments aged wonderfully too now that the Bethesda fanbase is finally being more reasonable with the problems of the company's habit.
You seem to be looking for reasons to hate it
@@TheRealUnkn0wn_289 I certainly am, the remakes are gross looking. Ill stick to DC version because it looks superior

What makes the (slightly toxic) manbaby Classicists (that's NOT to say ALL of them are; don't persecute me!) worse is that they're partially to blame for later Sonic games only having Sonic as a playable character and his friends either being absent or "of no importance" (to quote Modern Eggman).
I remember hearing someone call sa1 more glitchy than 06. lol
Heck, game grumps called this glitchier than sonic boom
Oh damn it's been so long since I made that comment. Surprised someone replied to it.
I couldn't stand their playthrough of Donkey Kong Country 2 for similar reasons.
+CVGaming Not necessarily defending him, but have you seen their Mario 64 playthrough? He's immensely frustrated the whole time.
To be fair Aaron admitted on Twitter the Zelda Sequelits is awful & in the first part of dead rising he admitted he sometimes blames games for his own mistakes so he's improving I guess

The Steam version modded fixed that.
Oh hi there! I didn't expect to see you here!
@@gabrielcousins2605 Agreed!

He has pinged a comment about how he changed his mind on DX since the video's release.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the lighting whatsoever for either versions of the first game
2:02 _Ironic._
Thank you so much for analyzing these two games. I was actually thinking about them recently, and I found this quite informative. :)
im glad pc versions are modable to introduce best part of dreamcast in them.
or directly emulate dreamcast on pc yourself.
22:34 "Remake, but not by a huge margin"
So, remaster in the new score system?
Amy’s eyes are in the opsite place there supposed to be in game cube in the gameplay the characters are much higher poly than in the cutscenes. But they then sometimes use higher poly model if you look closely. Transparency has probloms too.
2:02 Exo: "I personally would never want to watch a review that is that long."
Also Exo: makes an hour long review of MegaMan and Bass.
Sonic Adventure DX was also technically an HD remaster, since the PC version can run in HD.
110% agree about the Arin Hanson comment. I've never seen that glitch in Sonic Boom, nor the spindash glitch on Emerald Coast before watching him play.
2:03

You're by far my favorite UA-cam reviewer lol. Love your videos, keep pushing.
22:08 - I guess they’ve never played The sonic & sega all-stars racing games then but whatever... 💀
I'm guessing he doing them in order
If variable frame rates are not accounted for and it gets stuttery or slow below 60 then yeah I'd rather have it capped at 30.
selective reasoning... more like double standard.
Uploaded on my Birthday, yay. Amazing quality as always, keep it up.
👍😃
I don't think the adventure games are bad but I do think they are dated as hell and would like to see them remade for modern console's
This is the most honest review I ever came across. Good job man!
Heroes don't need to wear capes.
29:39 ummmmmmmmmmmm...
ok then
Yooooosssssh
One minor thing to point out is in Battle, the final cutscene in dark before Final Chase, Rouge's theme is played in the background for the most part, until Rouge talks about the Ultimate Life Form research she discovered. The music stops and a dramatic event song plays for the rest of the cutscene. In the Dreamcast version, it plays Rouge's theme for the whole scene with Rouge and Shadow.

as for the collision detection in SA2. the PC version has the best collision detection. The gamecube version's collision is almost exactly the same, the dreamcast version, many walls are merely suggestions.

I need to say that I really enjoy your videos. Somehow you have a very nice style that I do not see too often on UA-cam. Greetings from Germany!
The DC control stick is not better than the GCN control stick, Sega just didn't utilize the extent of what it was capable of.
Wow, I never realised the Sonic Adventure 2 subtitles were in Comic Sans. Good job Sega.

Did you mod it or something? On my 360 it's still in 4:3
Nope. I don't even know how to mod it.
To be fair, I consider the PSN versions to be ports of the Sonic Adventure games (specifically the Gamecube versions) rather than remakes so it kinda makes sense that they didn't really do any touching up on them.

Personally, I think it's better to have a simple story with cheesy jokes (Sonic Colors) than a complex story riddled with plot holes and Out Of Character
moments (Sonic 2006).

in some instances or releases of the game, on a stage there's no collision detection on a floor you spawn on, this doesn't affect all releases........... was it SA2 or 1? either way it's a glitch occurring in the original release
Tell that to the Dreamcast purists.
Thank you so much for calling out the hypocrisy about Fallout 4 Bethesda pisses me off so much but the fans say that they can do no wrong
+devbyrd1 Same can be said about Skyrim. It was a good game, but it had a lot of glitches and bugs, and bizarre physics. There was this one glitch that made a boss fight completely unplayable and unwinnable. Or carrying a lit torch underwater without extinguishing the torch.
This has aged well (Although I'm hoping Microsoft is gonna be the quality check they need but I doubt it)
Guys, get those games on Steam. The mods have fixed a LOT of issues with the ports.
Glad to see another upload.
I started with sonic 1, and I still love the dreamcast era. excellent video series
