That fantasy has been going strong for 20 years, who knows how many more people feel the same way? Family is NOT always there for you, not if what you need is 'wrong' in whatever way they think is 'wrong'. For goodness's sake, my mum won't accept or even humour the idea that I probably have ADHD (and after checking the autism creteria I may have that too), won't understand when I try to explain that I have anxiety issues, won't even believe that she's messed me up (apparently I don't act frightened of her enough to be 'traumatised'). And there are plenty of other people in a similar place as me, in a sort of grey area between abuse and not-abuse. So this whole 'family will always love you' message is absolutely ridiculous because it's rarely true. Friends, actual friends, are the ones more likely to understand and support you, not your family. I don't know where Dhar got this idea that family always means unconditional love because it just isn't true. Also if he tried to make a story where someone found a new family I guarantee it's gonna be a word-for-word plagirism of Matilda and I refuse to let him ruin one of my favourite stories like that.

As a foster kid, I have to say the way the foster system works is nothing like it is in this video. Foster care is less like waiting in an orphanage for someone to adopt you; and more like getting abused by complete strangers who only keep you around because you produce 1000$+ a month for them to spend on their own satisfaction. Growing up in care I had to accept that I may never see my parents again, and if I did, it probably wouldn't go well; (it didn't) And you also have to accept that family is just an idea you have to give up on. As a foster kid it's like playing a demo of life, you're cut off from so many things. There's very little proper representation of life in care and it's possibly because kids in care often commit suicide in their adult years. There's not too many success stories and even if there were, people wouldn't understand the difference between being an orphan and being a foster kid. At least people can adopt an orphan.. CCOs (continuing care order) can't be adopted because they were surrendered with the intention of being reunited. I was a CCO, but nobody ever came back for me. I entered adulthood by myself and have been alone virtually ever since. Arguably I always was. The meaning of life gets stretched as far as it can go in a life like this... If life is good or bad, worth living or not, is inconsequential, because I always feel both things at once

I did het reunited with my mom, she did care for me and i have a new step dad, so ya. The foster care is trash, my brothers wete pumped with drugs and the foster parent had nothing happen to her

In fact, I'm pretty sure most kids are in the foster care system because of their families harming them! I wouldn't say I've been completely abused, but I've always not been the happiest at home with my family, and my fantasy was a lot like the ending of Matilda: being adopted by someone nice who'd care for me. That fantasy has been going strong for 20 years, who knows how many more people feel the same way? Family is NOT always there for you, not if what you need is 'wrong' in whatever way they think is 'wrong'. For goodness's sake, my mum won't accept or even humour the idea that I probably have ADHD (and after checking the autism creteria I may have that too), won't understand when I try to explain that I have anxiety issues, won't even believe that she's messed me up (apparently I don't act frightened of her enough to be 'traumatised'). And there are plenty of other people in a similar place as me, in a sort of grey area between abuse and not-abuse. So this whole 'family will always love you' message is absolutely ridiculous because it's rarely true. Friends, actual friends, are the ones more likely to understand and support you, not your family. I don't know where Dhar got this idea that family always means unconditional love because it just isn't true.
Also if he tried to make a story where someone found a new family I guarantee it's gonna be a word-for-word plagirism of Matilda and I refuse to let him ruin one of my favourite stories like that.

As a foster kid, I have to say the way the foster system works is nothing like it is in this video.
Foster care is less like waiting in an orphanage for someone to adopt you; and more like getting abused by complete strangers who only keep you around because you produce 1000$+ a month for them to spend on their own satisfaction.
Growing up in care I had to accept that I may never see my parents again, and if I did, it probably wouldn't go well; (it didn't)
And you also have to accept that family is just an idea you have to give up on. As a foster kid it's like playing a demo of life, you're cut off from so many things.
There's very little proper representation of life in care and it's possibly because kids in care often commit suicide in their adult years. There's not too many success stories and even if there were, people wouldn't understand the difference between being an orphan and being a foster kid.
At least people can adopt an orphan.. CCOs (continuing care order) can't be adopted because they were surrendered with the intention of being reunited. I was a CCO, but nobody ever came back for me. I entered adulthood by myself and have been alone virtually ever since. Arguably I always was. The meaning of life gets stretched as far as it can go in a life like this... If life is good or bad, worth living or not, is inconsequential, because I always feel both things at once
