What beautiful fish! I don’t like boats or open water, rather I prefer to fish in creeks and rivers. But I love eating fish no matter where they come from! Looked like you all had a blast! Great video!
Rod, This was a true fishing experience. Catching bait, then hooking salmon on the bait. I think that the “Industry standard” of trolling with downriggers at 500 feet is not really fishing. The fish is hooked and you get to wind the reel ? Not fishing! My question is what should I ask potential charter guides to assure that I really get a “genuine fishing” trip.? Do you know any outfitters on the east coast who do “genuine fishing trips”?
Thanks. So the option of targeting chinook salmon with live bait like this is not always available. It really depends on a lot things, like whether fish are bunched up in an area feeding on them, bait availability, etc. It's also not doable in deep water (we were fishing in 50ft or less). This is why trolling becomes the only option for many areas. I would definitely ask the guides/charters to see what options are there. Vertical jigging for them is also another really fun hands-on way to catch them, which are more readily available than live baiting.
Wow Linda, what a trip of a lifetimes for you and Rod.
Yes it was! Thanks for watching.
Awesome times love the Island

The quality of those ocean springs was incredible. When making sashimi the taste was almost 'buttery.'
Amazing
I’ve always done freshwater fishing I never have fished in the ocean but I want to. It looks so fun!
It is!! So many different cool creatures! Even when targeting a certain species you never know what you will get.
@@LifeOfLindaLeeyes that’s the most wonderful part is the variety of fish!
