Philippines Local Style - Moments in Time S2.1

- Welcome to Moments in Time Season 2! Though Covid-19 has halted production for the time being, we successfully filmed a new series of episodes before the global lockdown began. This new season begins in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Join us along the Pacific Ring of Fire as we kick things off in the Philippines!
We meet up with the very talented Portrait and Commercial Photographer, Jan Gonzales. He lets us in for a sneak peek of one of his incredible set designs with behind the scenes access and a unique surprise that he has in store for me. Let’s just say that it puts my modeling skills to the ultimate test!
My friend Win Magsino, Commercial and Landscape Photographer, takes us for some early morning location scouting near Legazpi City and to the famed Cagsawa Ruins. While we compare some medium format shooting with aerial shots as we take in the epic landscape and beautiful sunset in the Quitinday Green Hills Formation Reserve, we almost don’t make it because of some local brush fires.
Pushing through boundaries, “we need more truth tellers,” says Alecs Ongcal, as we spend some time together learning about her experiences and some of her challenges as a female photojournalist in the Philippines. From campaign trails to social unrest and violence, no matter the personal danger, she puts herself on the front line to capture the real story.
No trip to Intramuros would be complete without a visit to Batala Bar, for some Bambooze (literally alcohol made from bamboo) where we caught up with owner, Bryan Benitez Mclelland, who is also the Founder of a unique charitable organization called Bambike that has helped inspire positive change in the local communities.
Last but not least, we’re joined by Commercial Architectural and Landscape Photographer, Jay Jallorina. With help from Jay, we seek out higher ground from the Torre de Manila to witness one of the most complete perspectives of Manila from the air.
The goal of this show is to highlight amazing and talented people, while showing the world that we are all at our best when we can encourage and lift each other up, no matter how many miles are physically between us. If we help to amplify the voice of others, perhaps we can inspire positive change and bring attention to some of the important global issues we are passionate about. Photography should be an industry built on trust, friendship, and mutual respect, and I sincerely hope that you take time to enjoy the incredible talent of our show’s gracious guests.
If you know an inspiring artist you’d like us to feature, or you have a global or community based initiative that you’d like to share, please put it in the comments below. My hope is that we’ll be able to film new episodes once the world begins to heal from the tragedies of Covid-19.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our amazing guests for being a part of this. I’d also like to thank our sponsors for the incredible support and for helping to make this show possible. And a very big thanks to everyone for watching and for the likes and comments. It means a lot to us! We hope to see you again soon!

This season 2 is the best thing that has happened over these past months of chaos & uncertainty. Thank you for putting this up.
Thanks for listening to your audience Elia. I’m really looking forward to this first episode of 2nd season. This beautiful country and wonderful people really warmed my heart when I married over there 2 yrs ago.
Thanks Bram! Some of the kindest people I've ever met are from the Philippines. I've always been treated like family there and I'm excited that we were able to film a new episode there as well.

It is so good to have you back. I am always reminded while enjoying your stories is to pay attention to the minor details. Remembering that makes me a better story teller. I could fo on and on. A beautiful start. Thanks.
Thanks Brad, that's nice of you to say!
Amazing!!
Thank you for featuring the Philippines, I highly suggest if you will ever come back to the Philippines for a part two, try to go up north to Batanes, Baguio City, Cordillera Region, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte. Culture of the Philippines will be well represented and highlighted by these places. Thank you for appreciating our country. 😊

I was not expecting Win would be in the video! Hope you had fun here in the Philippines! Cant wait for your next adventure!
You're off to a great start for season 2. I enjoyed it.
Thanks for sharing, and being an inspiration to those of us wannabes that may never get to these places, or get to your photographic level.
While it does not mean we will never get there, you set a bar that is worthy to try to reach, and show us the kinds of results that can be done if you work hard enough at it. Thanks again! 👍
Great stuff Elia. I think you found a great balance in this series between photography, travel, and journalism (in terms of introducing local photographers and their stories). You weren't kidding about the shopping mall though it's so prominent lol
Thanks for the compliment! And yeah, lol, it's not the most beautiful structure in the scene. ;)
Finally a new season, GREAT!
I really appreciate the amount of time and effort you put in to make these films available for free mate 👏
Thanks mate! Yeah, they are a ton of work but on the other side of that, I really like working with my team. They're awesome and we have a blast filming. :)
Elia Locardi You should come to Australia to shoot someday, the scenery & light is awesome and we’re very sociable 🍻

Love your scenes here Jan and featuring Cebu.
Another amazing episode! I bet!
Great stuff! So glad this series is back 😀
Generally I cannot watch UA-cam videos that cram in ads they are so distracting, however the series is so good I will have to put up with them. I love the Moments in time series thanks Eli
Thanks for the feedback. It's a self funded project so sponsors are also important. I try to keep it to an absolute minimum. :)
Great seeing this format going on! you are so inspiring!
Awesome, been looking forward to this, top work by you and your team
So glad to see this back its been to long 💗
Love it!
So glad to see you again!
Fantastic! I can’t wait for the next one.
So glad to see a new season and having all these fun moments you capture available for everyone to watch on UA-cam. Come out to Australia once COVID-19 is over, wont be disappointed :). Also may I ask which Mindshift bag are you using?
That would be the Mindshift Backlight Elite 45L
Such great quality production! Really enjoyed the episode!
On the other hand, can you talk about safety for landscape/city photographers some time? What do you do, when you shoot alone? I'm rather scared to bring multiple thousands dollars of equipment to remote areas or to some places in the city at night.
OK, TV is set, crisps and drinks next to me... I'm ready, mate!
Nice! I'm on my 4th cup of coffee. ;)
Elia Locardi my god, is it this boring? 🤣🤣🤣
@@fabienb well, for 11am, I supposed I could've added some whisky. XD
Elia Locardi sambuca!
hey, that was cool, elia - you coming to my hometown to shoot mayon volcano! thank goodness she discarded her shroud for you to have a peek at (and shoot) her beauty. we met in kuwait btw during your trip here. :)
Oh, hey! Good to connect with you again. :) Yeah, Mayon can be a shy mountain for sure!
It's Interesting, Inspiring, Motivating and Lot more in this whole video😍.
Elia, Sometime Come to India😄.
Get the travel hype going!
Excited to watch this LIVE with everybody tomorrow!
Fantastic! Thanks Elia
I went to Manilla in the 80s. Just remeber a bar called the Stoned Crow. Wish I had seen more of theplace.
I have been to Manila twice with my wife and her family who are from there. It’s such a beautiful and storied city. Makes me so happy to see you capture the beauty the city has to offer. Great episode so far!
I Can't WAIT!
Nice, already looking forward for the next one :)
