Back to back home runs. This video and last week's video are must viewing for anyone wanting to repair an Estate/Whirlpool direct drive washer. Chip, thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos.
Inspired by this channel I spotted an old kenmore washer put out for trash. It was quite trashed however I took it home and found the transmission intact. I put a neutral drain kit in and put the machine back to the curb. The transmission is working great. It will be my spare. I only wish I could find a spare motor and agitator. The 3 speed motor and upper/lower agitator are discontinued.
I have a machine just like that one that I bought new in 2011 during black friday at home depot. It has been in the box and under tarp until last thursday when my kenmore 70 took a dump and I got it out and hooked it up. Both have exactly the 2 knobs plus the timer. The new one is an Admiral. Wife noticed on this new one when washing on a full load when it rinses it only fills the tub about halve full. The kenmore used more water on the rinse cycle. Washes fine. Any idea why it does that?
So the last one of these it spun intermittently. I checked the capacitor and it was out of spec replaced it but finally swapped out a motor and it ran like champ. What made you go straight to the clutch?
The motor was running and I heard it shift. When I spun it by hand and got it started that was the clue that the clutch was slipping under load. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, I don’t often have to hit it so hard but what I really need is a long brass rod. Brass is softer than the steel and won’t flatten the transmission shaft.
What if it fills with water and does nothing. Slight hum, no agitation. It’s not the dogs, lid switch bypassed. Spins low and high just fine, and drains fine. I’m thinking motor?
Oh my gosh! I think I can fix our beloved 17-18 year old roper washer! Thank you for this! I love your organization in the shop!
Thank you for watching! Organizing makes the work proceed much faster!

I enjoy making them and thanks for watching Shane!

Keep looking. Folks throw them away every day. Thanks for watching!

EPA regulations? Adjust the screw on the pressure valve. Thanks for watching!

I screw in the bolt when I need to pound on the shaft it so it doesn’t mess up the top of it

2X4 PIECE OF WOOD WORKS WELL, TOO !!

Yeah, sounds like the windings that turn the motor in the direction that agitates are burned. Thanks for watching!
Good repair
Thank you!
Nice job ... Thx
