    Good job discussing the bearings on each end of the pinion gear and the "shim" bushing on the inside of bearing opposite the main drive.

    Is there a certain way the roller bearings housing goes in the pinion shaft because on this BTL2 1000 I am working on, the whole clutch assembly stack is to tall and the last piece the 3 hole plate with the spring sits about 2/16 above the body/frame of the reel.

      Thanks for landing here. Besides ensuring the area for the spring that engages the anti-reverse lever is facing up toward the rotor, no. If you need additional help, feel free to reach out the me at tsgreelservice@gmail Spread the word about the channel.

    I see that you are using Cal's Reel grease for the drag, but are you also using this for all the other parts? I also noticed that you do not remove the old grease. Why is that, I always feel like you should do that as any abrasive materials that might get into the reel will get trapped in the old grease. For example if the reel was dropped into water, there might be micro-sand or other stuff that made its way into the drag or shaft area.

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching! The Cal's question can be answered if you watch the entire video. What old grease did I not remove that you wanted me to? Please describe and give the specific time in the video you're referring to.

      @@TSGReelService I did watch the entire video. at 3:59 you show the container of grease as you apply it to the drag. That's its. After this point you don't show it again. Also, you never removed any of the grease. You just applied more grease over it. Maybe you should rewatch your own video to see this.

    What does that white arm on the clutch assembly do? I don`t believe it is there on larger battles,,

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching, Bob. You're right, it's not on the larger sizes. It engages and disengages the rollers (anti-reverse). More vids to come.

    Would using the blue grease on the drag washers be bad?

    • @bobclouser450
      @bobclouser450 3 роки тому

      there are guys that use Penn Grease all the time,,Cals just for whatever reason became the choice for drag washers.. you can also run them dry as well.

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! Unlikely.... for most fishermen, Penn grease would suffice and not adversely affect the washers. Cal's just has a higher heat rating before breaking down, that's all. Think of a smoker (kingfish run).

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  3 роки тому

      Thanks for contributing, Bob. Agreed. Cal's has some benefits over Penn on the drag. I prefer not to run HT-100's dry, but there's definitely no harm in it for the average fisherman who takes care of his reel.

      @@TSGReelService Yes,.,.I should have added that..in most circumstances it would suffice,,but I do use Cals on all drag washers.

    Have you explained, or will you explain what the clutch does on this reel? The part on the pinion gear with the accessible roller bearings which on a parts diagram is labeled the clutch/sleeve assembly? Also, people say the reel will go in reverse if you get the orientation wrong. What does that mean, orientation how? Does it mean if you put the front end at the back?

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  11 місяців тому

      Thanks for checking out the video. The clutch stops the handle from going backwards. Orientation would be upside down, but it is rare, as most reels can only go together properly one way..... with it in the correct orientation, hence, stopping the handle from going backwards.
