Want to know the one thing that can make your rods and reels last longer?
It's not doing a deep clean every few trips...
And it's not taking them to a professional to get them serviced...
It's simply rinsing them off and drying them after every trip!
It takes just a few short minutes and it can save you tons of money down the road by not having to buy new gear.
But here's the thing: most people don't do it!
It's a shame because it's so easy for saltwater to cause your gear to rust and ruin quickly.
So in this video, I'll show you the easy way to clean your rods and reels after every trip, what the biggest mistakes people make are, and why it matters so much.
If you want to keep your rods and reels a long time and not have to buy new equipment, you're going to love this video!
Have any questions about cleaning your rods and reels?
Do you have any other tips for keeping your gear in great shape?
Let me know down in the comments.
And although they no longer sell the sprayer I use, here's another option (affiliate link): amzn.to/2G5kWoo

Good point on light misting. I would add to tighten your drag before misting and wiping, and to afterwards mist the reel and guides with a silicone spray. Loosen the drag all the way before putting away. I had a friend who would totally submerge his reels in soapy water after every trip, then wonder why his drag was so rough.

I use fresh water then wipe it off... then I use a special spray made for fishing rods and reels for resistance against rust

Just a tip for making salt reels resist saltwater. Once you are done cleaning your reel, let it dry completely. Spray a small amount of Pledge (yea the furniture polish) on a rag and wipe down the outside of the reel. It will not damage any type of line and it puts a very this layer of wax that will cause salt spray to bead off it will only last a trip or two. I do this after every trip.

I use warm water, it dissolves any salt deposits better

Could you put your rod and reel in the sun to let it dry
Or should you still wipe it down

    • @aaronhiggs
      @aaronhiggs 3 роки тому +1

Wipe down. Letting it dry in the sun will let residual salt to form on the surface of things.
