Ed is the exception to the saying “don’t meet your heroes “
Such a great guy
I met Ed over 19 years ago I was a 165 er at the meet he mentioned he judged, every time I see him he is a pleasure to talk with. I seen him four years ago when I lifted at the Olympia and nothing changed Ed will always be Ed awesome guy. We just bullshit funny thing is we don’t even talk about powerlifting just catch up ⬆️ cool as dude
Eds 👍a class act.
Truer words were never spoken!!!!
Agree. Pure nice guy! Met him at 2009 Olympia Expo. Gentleman with a vice grip.
Thanks Dave for adding CC. 81 year old who is trying to learn as much as I can about power lifting. Trying to keep it fun. Never had a coach so your site is great for learning and inspiration.
That’s super inspirational, keep on going!
Sir, retired Marine who had the opportunity to watch and train in the same gym as Captain (USN) Dave Ricks in the early 1980's. He's 63 and still crushing it. Perhaps not an Ed Coan but a goat in his own right. Having him as a table talk guest would be awesome in my humble opinion.
Absolutely the best content there is. He had Mike Israetel recently who is extremely knowledgeable about all things training and nutrition. And now the Goat who knows all the powerlifting ins and outs and has a massive love for the sport. Those two combined is really all I need to, I could listen to them every day.
that dude talks about coocked nutrition. nutrients get destroyed by heat like creatin. look up sv3rige and you will loose your mind
@@whiteshadow7166 you can't be serious, lol
Ed Coan allowed me to call him when I reached out to him about hip replacement surgery and talked to me as long as I needed to. The way he comes across here as approachable and selfless is #1 the reason he is the GOAT. His accomplishments are amazing but sharing his knowledge and time with others is his legacy.
It mystifies me that this isn't WAY more popular. This is pure gold
GOLD! Thank you Dave and Ed!
Shhhhh we don’t want them to know
There’s no “ I am Ed Coan you want me on your pod cast get me out there “ the man has no ego , and shows how respected Dave is by Ed wanting to do the table talk and willing paying for the air fare . Two hours flown by again .
Ed Coan reached a plateau in PL that no else ever has. He was so far ahead for so many years that it's amazing.
Thank you mr Coan for teaching me to open my taint.
🤨
Ed's Personality and his humble attitude trump anything he's done on the platform. This was awesome and worth the wait.
This is a masterclass in how to interview, how to be interviewed and how to deliver baller content.
Met Ed at the Arnold's in Columbus in 2016 asked him for a picture and I'm not a giant @ 285 6 foot but I felt huge until he grabbed me by the back of my neck and pulled me down for the picture. A memory I'll never forget. The GOAT
Everything Ed Coan talks about can be summed up by having fun and being nice to people. Basically advice that will take you through life. Much respect to Dave Tate as well for ALL the information that is provided…for free. Thank you sir
The Coan/Philppi deadlift program changed my lifting ability so much. Ed is incredible.
Bro you are on FIRE 🔥 with this recent run of guests!
Anything with Ed is an immediate watch 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
This is gold. I went to a seminar some years back and Ed is the real deal. His advice about short cycles for washed up meatheads like me is spot on. Every time I tried long cycles I always felt beat up between 5 and 8 weeks in.
Forget GOAT powerlifter, Ed Coan is a GOAT human being
Amazing conversation, massive thanks to both
I want whatever ammonia elitefts is hitting to be pulling off these GOAT-like episodes for this GOAT-like season
You’re guests are absolutely outstanding. Listening to Ed talk about lifting and longevity is awesome. Can’t wait to see who you guys get next! I know the obvious vote is Chuck lol
These last few interviews have been God like
This episode was phenomenal - thanks Dave and thanks Eddie.
Love these chats. Thank you for this.
Such good content, always a pleasure to listen to Ed Coan the 🐐
Ed Coan is always one of my favorite people to listen to. So much wisdom and insight and just an overall cool dude.
Awesome content… can watch this again and again… so much to learn! 🙏🏻
Fantastic content, priceless. Thanks Dave and thanks Ed.
Thank You Ed And Dave For sharing wisdom . Priceless!
This was an awesome podcast, thank you Dave and Ed!
Such good content. Thank you Dave
One of the best podcasts I’ve heard! I would love to meet Ed such a humble awesome guy!
I always love listening to Ed Coan. He was always an inspiration to lift more weight.
This was a fantastic podcast. Thank you Ed really is the man so much wisdom with this guy.
Ed sir you are a living legend and thank you for words of wisdom , as Dave said you are true ambassador and icon of sport of powerlifting! Cheers!
Been getting back into lifting after a coma in my mid twenties had around, 3/4/5 plates, nothing crazy as I was a bit skinny.
Lost a lot of weight/strength on the tubes and ventilation.
This podcast has helped me remember all those little tidbits you pick up in college. Now I’m at, near or past my old numbers.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom gents.
Fantastic podcast, it's really great to finally hear a professional in the sport have a such a down-to-earth approach. Literally just have fun, it's so simple and yet we all forget it!
Edit: Those stories at the end were a fantastic cap to the pod.
Brilliant 👏
Cant wait for the next
I will forever thank Ed because he gave me advice and helped my nerves. I was about ready to not compete again because I thought the sport wasn't for me and it was amazing, and it was my first meet I felt confident at.
Absolutely needed this for a bit of refocus on powerlifting goals
Top man ed coan. Very humble giving out free info too. Great podcast
Something hilarious about Ed not having a protocol for missing weight in training simply because it never happened. It's easy to talk about genetics with GOAT athletes like Ed but there is usually an extreme amount of care and meticulousness to them as well.
Such good content. Thank you
Everytime I think Ed can't be any cooler, I am proven wrong. Hat's off to a goddamn inspiration of a man.
Thanks Eddy for all your knowledge 🙏
Great lesson from the GOAT 🐐
Lesson about PL and life at all
Thanks 🙏
great interview!
awesome thanks Dave and Eddy
Met him briefly almost 10 years ago now, he did a seminar and was a judge at a meet in Amherst nova Scotia. His hands are massive.
Met him at the Olympia last yr. An amazing guy!
What a great season 👏
For the algorithm. Thanks for everything.
another banger episode, so good
This is pure gold
So good!
Thank you. GOD BLESS YOU MY BROTHERS
Great listen, love the podcast
Much appreciated!
The only thing better than this would be Chuck Vogelpohl. Keep killing it guys!
Hmmm…
@@eliteftsofficial That's a telling "hmmm" 🤔
1:15:55 - 1:18:33 - greatest cue I've ever heard. Gold from the GOAT
Love it!
Thanks!
Gotta love Ed. Just a nice guy who worked his bollocks off 👊
Man really puts the "LIVE IT" in "YOU HAVE TO"
Best to ever do it!!!
Great guests as of recent :)
I love his humility.
Incredible
The GOAT
I did hear recently Matt Wenning says he did I think an overseas seminar with Ed Coan and Bill Kazmaier. And he said that both of them told him they were banged up from the decades of linear periodization training and that they both said they wished they’d trained more conjugate the way Matt does. If you have Ed back on again in the future, it would be good to hear Ed speak about that and what he would change and recommend for others as far as what he did and wish he’d did differently.
Think Wenning just said that about Kaz in a recent table talk/shorter clip posted on here
ua-cam.com/video/bz97zAlHY6A/v-deo.html Right here Gents
Love the GOAT!
Can see Dave got excited when Ed mentioned he use to do Speedwork
This was great, how about having Joe ladnier sometime, he was legendary upcoming ipf competitor, Ed coan said about 3 times in a raw" he was a monster" , and he has equipped lifting career also, both perspectives
I love it. Eddie is such a down to earth guy, world famous but still a man of the people. Watched him train once at Quads in Chicago. Warming up with 405 bench like it was 135. That and the picture of his back calloused and gnarly that was on the wall.
Top Show !
Keep er lit
Oh HELL yeah... AWESOME!
This should have more views.
Ed is so down to earth
GOAT 🐐
I wanna say I echo what has been peppered throughout the conversation. Other than my family, there's no other place I'd rather be than at the gym training with everyone. There's just something special about it. We wouldn't be as strong on our own. Its an extension of family for me. I wanna see everyone get better and help any way possible cuz at the end of the day, no one really cares how much you lift. Were you a self centered jerk or the guy everyone looked to for help and encouragement?
The GOAT.
He says all the right shit wow I'm so happy I think like this
Wasn't expecting to hear the name Nick Busick. Is this by any chance the guy who performed at Bully Busick in WWF?
Teared up around 1:48
Ed I competed at the meet you gave fast press calls and he almost got 740 That shot up fast as hell I have the meet video the whole thing. it was the first new England record breakers meet it was all bench only meet.
I have met EC 3 times. He is one of the nicest, funniest humble people ever. He is the Michael Jordan, Tom Brady and Joey Chestnutt of his sport. The GOAT!
thnx 4 tips kick ass
So I got to hear a bit more about Ed's training, which was great but I was expec4ing to hear he would have changed a bit more. He didn't state that. I'm basing that off of what Matt Wenning said when he was on the podcast. So is that something Matt just made up or what? Would have loved to hear more about that.
Is there anyway to get kaz on here?
Would be great to see John Haack or Kevin Oak on here
Love how Ed shits on cardio!
I was having a dream I was steering a go-cart with a bottle cap and this audio was playing in my dream
“Don’t be a dick and people will like you.”
Ed Coan
Like and comment!
how about adding close captioning
1:46:52 real recognizes real
You should have Larry wheels come to America and be on that would help your channels massively. New age and old school.
👏👏👏
Fuck yes
