Great job Doug. You hit your legacy on the head. I thank you for the kindness and encouragement you showed me during our lifting years together. What great memories I have of you and the guys in your basement working together selflessly for the goals each of us had. You are a great champion and ambassador to the powerlifting world. God bless you.

Wow, that was great man.Doug is a super soul. I wish I lived near him, I would join him for Thanksgiving dinner so he would not be alone. I'm 57 and got the fire in the early 70's and attended the 76 world's in York with Dad and cousins. Can really relate to A lot of Doug's stories. In 79 at 16 squatted 330,benched 290,deadlifted 475 at 148 in aau NJ teenage meet. Didn't compete for 27 years when won NJ state championship in 165 40-44. Fire still burning hot and hoping to win nationals in 165 and age group. Thanks so much Dave for bringing in a Legend from the old days. I can listen to guys talk about the golden age of powerlifting all day long. It was great.

How many circles did Doug draw on the Elitefts table?
Lol I remember seeing Doug at ipa nationals 2001. Wish there were more freaks like that nowadays that get more amped up. Different breed.

I might have to start incorporating those circles Doug is drawing in my daily conversations with people. On a more serious note: he is a great storyteller!

Bro I put this on as background music while i slept and I kept waking up to this video and processing some of what this man says half asleep then I would fall back asleep and man those where some of the most f**k up dreams I've ever had in my life

Somehow Dougs demeanor reminds me of Heath Ledgers Joker. It would have been awesome to see him lift

    • @ResistanceQuest

It's funny because he reminds me of Jack Nicholson visually and at times in voice

    • @weinerman

ResistanceQuest I was gunna say the same thing. The way he purses his mouth and licks his lips is total Nicholson Joker. Eyebrows too.

"Fcking insane" is definitely an understatement for any time Doug was involved in a lift that mattered!

Dave mentioned Mark Dimiduk and said something about how he competed forever. Sadly, Mark Dimiduk died of pancreatic cancer in July 2017.
