AH guys ok so the Tocobo sunscreen definitely has a smell as you start to rub it in lol I wish I did that smell test as I was applying it instead - it kind of smells like greenery?? Not my fave but it fades quickly & I can't smell it after a couple minutes!
Just wanted to thank you for all your hard work doing a deep dive on products! I started watching you during Covid lockdown and I wanted to clear out my over cluttered hair and skin regimen. Your info has always been spot on! You take the time to cover all skin and hair types when reviewing products has not only helped me, but saved me a ton of money and space in my bathroom:)
Beauty of Joseon is supposed to release a fragrance and essential oil free version of their serum SPF. That will be when I try that one. I’ve been eyeballing the round lab and Tocobbo. TY for the review on all of these!
Actually, I'm boycotting all Korean products. Their govt and citizens need to put an end to dog and cat slaughter farms. Especially since they identify as a democratic nation.
Omg they would not have any reactions just licking you 🤦🏻♀️ That would not be enough to make an animal sick. Now, if they ate the entire tube of spf then I would be concerned 🙄
I love the Soon Jung line! I have rosacea, sensitive dry skin and my skin doesn’t react to anything in that line. 10/10 would recommend all of it, including the mineral sunscreen.
I love that Beauty of Joseon sunscreen. Lightweight, great under makeup and not super dewy. I don’t like looking greasy or sweaty, and this one is good. Hydrating but not sweaty looking. I want to try the Isintree Gel sunscreen, also.
The Skin1004 is the best sunscreen I’ve tried as someone with oily skin!! Not sure what Abbey felt but I can assure that it leaves a nice natural feeling and look 😊
@@jilliaandrea7831 I think so! It leaves a natural, satin finish and as someone who gets hot and sweaty easily, this sunscreen never feels heavy or uncomfortable and its nice to reapply.
I love it too. I've bought it 2 or 3 times already. The only thing I don't like is it didn't last long. I wish it came in a larger container/bottle. I have rosacea, and combo skin/ slightly oily t -zone just for reference.
Thank you SO much for this video! This is exactly what I look for because I'm OBSESSED with Asian sunscreens! Ive tried a lot but the one I'm currently using and loving is the skin1004 one. I have dry skin and this one is great over my serums without the need for moisturizer first and it leaves me with a hydrated, natural look without a greasy shine. I'm looking forward to trying out some from your list but only the non-mineral and fragrance-free ones. Fragrance is definitely a deal-breaker for me. Thanks again, Abbey! ❤
I am stationed in Japan right now and omg the sunscreen is to die for. One that I really love is the Nivea gel 50+ it’s so lightweight and refreshing!!
Yes the Round Lab sets up with a film for me too-almost like a very thin layer of Vaseline. Can’t decide if I like it or not-it does sometimes interfere with my concealer staying on my face.
Would love to see a video of your favourite mineral sunscreens! I am really sensitive to chemical sunscreens so I can’t wear them on my face. It’s so hard to find good mineral options and I would love your advice. Always love your videos!!
Thank you Abbey! I’m quite fair and prefer mineral sunscreens with a white cast because then it evens out my skin tone!! Will be trying out the Dr. G one after seeing your review❤❤❤ Also, I really love the Shiseido urban environment oil-free sunscreen and would love to see your review/thoughts on it!!
Same! You'll love the Dr. G Mild Up. It's my fave. It even gives a slight pore blurring effect! I'm looking for one similar to it, but water resistant for summer ☀️
The mineral sunscreens are not that bad in my opinion. Especially the one with a matte to natural finish. I will probably try it out. It's because you are too used with elegant chemical sunscreens now that you forget that they are quite nice for mineral sunscreens compared of what we had not long ago. But it's okay 😊 still those mineral ones look great and especially when you are someone who wear makeup. I don't but this tiny miny microscopic white cast doesn't bother me at all.
I find a drop of liquid bronzer on top of any sunscreen helps cover any white cast, this really opened up the world of mineral sunscreen which is better for my tan, oily skin. ☺️
I definitely recommend the goodal Houttuynia calming sun cream. It's verified to be SPF 50 Pa++++ and it's the only one I got my 'uses body wash for face wash' brothers to use regularly.
Haven’t tried the new BOJ still working through my haul from my trip to SK last year. But I’d love some water resistant Asian sunscreen recs. I think more common in Japan than Korea but they do exist.
Could you do a video of your favorite asian sunscreens? I feel like my preferences are similar to yours! I'm going to try that Tocobo one 😊 Thanks, Abby!
Love your job. You are super dedicated and we can feel all the effort you put into your videos! You’ll get very far Abbey. Sending lots of love from Brazil! 🇧🇷
The Toboco has a lovely formula. Unfortunately, I cannot handle the fragrance. I prefer Skin1004 Madagascar, Beauty of Josean, Isntree watery sun gel, OMI Verdio moisture gel, Haruharu wonder black rice pure mineral relief daily sunscreen for when my skin is sensitive.
Thanks, Abbey! Great work. Have you tried the new Haruharu Wonder Airyfit SPF 50 (chemical version, not mineral)? It’s my new favourite. Super nice packaging with a pump and it has a velvet finish. No fragrance. No white cast.
I’m currently using Dr.G and D’alba. Here’s my experience as a combo-oily acne prone gal. And my skintone is around light medium (like around nc30 Mac) Dr.G green mild - feels a bit thick & has white cast that takes like 30 mins to disappear - satin matte finish compared to other kbeauty sunscreens - gentle and doesn’t irritate my skin, I use this during my periods when my skin is extra sensitive - doesn’t sting the eye area - no scent - I’ve gotten a compliment on my skin when wearing this lol (I wasn’t wearing any other base makeup at the time ) D’alba UV Waterfull Essence - smells like citrus floral but doesn’t feel stingy (I like the scent actually, would be good if they made it into perfume lol) - blends in super fast - no white cast - can be TOO glowy, like I dipped my face in water. I find it hard to apply base makeup over it - the glowy aspect can be toned down depending what moisturizer you use underneath. I use the Aveeno daily lotion which makes this sunscreen a nice satin finish instead of super glowy - I feel like I sweat it off easily because it’s so watery LOL I’m almost finish these sunscreens and I think I’ll try the Anua Sunscreen next
Thank you, Abby! I was curious about the new Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, and you helped me with that! I'm sad that it has essential oils or peels. I'll try the Etude (non-mineral) for sure. I always watch your videos during lunch, so my brain associated it with food. Today I'm watching it at a different time, and now I'm hungry, so thanks for that 😂
I have the Tocobo. It has a really nice texture, and whereas I’m not sensitive to scents, this one smells like flowers that have been in a vase too long. Maybe that’s just me though. Haha! 😅 I do really like the texture though, so I can live with the wilting floral scent! Have you tried the Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen? Wow, these names are long! I have only tried the chemical version, though it comes in mineral as well, and I love it. It’s become my HG. I also just ordered the Numbuzin 1 sunscreen as I’ve heard great things about it, so looking forward to trying that one. Your channel is one of my go-tos. Absolutely love it! You’re knowledgeable, charming and your content is always fantastic. :)
thanks for this video - very consistent and informative - i'm def interested in testing out the beauty of j (the last one u said was maybe your favorite) again - would be helpful to know about which ones are water resistant i feel like this is an important feature to know about
I didn’t like the Birch Lab. I was so bummed. It dried my skin out. Was very surprised. I even checked if it was a combo sunscreen. But it wasn’t. Don’t know why my skin didn’t like this.
Did u wear it with moisturizer as well? I haven’t tried this one yet, but my skins so dang dry I can’t use any kind of sunscreen without moisturizer first
I agree all these kbeauty sunscreen are elegant, even the mineral fails here are still elegant compared than the ones from US. I personally prefer mineral because I prefer more matte finish, pore-blurring, brightening effect, so I actually liked the Dr G (it's gentle and the only one that doesnt sting my eyes). However, it's hard to find anything good water-resistant or sweat-resistant sunscreen in kbeauty which is more practical for the summer. Jbeauty sunscreens seems to have more water-resistant options which you can feature some in future videos.
@@tinasung3814 ah okay. Yes it has a small powder fragrance but it’s not lasting or strong. It’s a hybrid sunscreen. It’s more for normal or oil skin because it’s quite mattifying.
i use the beauty of joseon moist sun serum underneath of their probiotic sunscreen and touch up with the isnt hyaluronic acid stick throughout the day and it never pills, feel greasy or anything of the sort! if you're looking for a good combo i'd definitely recommend
The Hyalu-cica sun serum is now the only sunscreen I use for face and Décolletage. Love the stuff. Feels and performs like a good moisturizer. I have mature, dry skin so for me this stuff is perfect.
tocobo is the only sunscreen that i like on my skin (finish wise). although I don't care for benefits of added ingredients + THE fragrance...ugh... gives me headache, the finish on my skin is velvety matte!! omg I finally don't get "you seem oily/sweaty" comments from my relatives/close friends when I'm out😂
I just freaking love your channel. I can’t get enough of it! I love the way you review sunscreens, makeup, and skincare so in-depth. I wanted to tell you how much it helps when you show the texture of products, and how they apply on the skin. It really helps me to make informed decisions when I want to purchase new products. I was actually applying the Madagascar Centalla spf while you reviewed it, and I have to agree with you…I also feel just the very slightest oil feel to it. I totally get what you were saying. Now I have to try that new Beauty Of Joseon spf gel. That stuff looks amazing! I also want to try the D’Alba spf because I absolutely love Xylitylglucoside, Xylitol, and Androxyxylitol in my skincare products. Thanks so much for your hard work reviewing all these products! 😊
Great video. Very informative. Thanks! I just started using facial sunscreen a few months ago. I have tried five so far. They’ve been either too dry and so it highlights my fine lines, etc when I add my foundation over it..or they’re way too “dewy” (aka shiny). I don’t enjoy shining. I feel like I look like I’m perspiring even when I’m not. I live in a hot climate. Ugh, who knew it would be such a quest to find the right one. I also don’t want to pay $40-50 for a small tube of sunscreen. Onward, I will keep trying.
My new holy grail summer sunscreen is P.Calm it’s sweat proof and super thin light and has lovely ingredients! Numbuzin #1 is even thinner than Skin1004 they are incredible and my all time HOLY GRAIL is HARUHARU WONDER it is satiny matte just looks like my best skin day ever!!!! Gotta have these in your ward robe lol! 🤍🤍🤍☀️☀️☀️all of these have no bad ingredients essential oils fragrance ect sensitive skin friendly!!!!
Fun fact: lactobacillus ferment is a postbiotic. In skincare you will mostly find pre- and post- biotics as opposed to true probiotics. Probiotics are live bacteria which as you might imagine is hard to put in a product with preservatives.
I was actually going to tell her the same thing but I didn’t want to come across as a know-it-all 😆 I think it’s actually the companies’ faults, because they incorrectly put that on their packaging and their websites. They are actually the ones who are misleading the public. The FDA really needs to crack down on misleading packaging and advertising information. 😊
@@EnvyBlu That's true, even if you google lactobacillus ferment all websites that pop up just say probiotic. But generally that's not really that big of a deal, just semantics, I don't think people actually think they get the live bacteria.
I would love to see a video specifically on your favorite waterproof sunscreens! I tried the Scinic Sun Essence per your recommendation and I absolutely love it, but I have yet to find a waterproof/water resistant one that compares
abbey! you introduced me to the whole asian sunscreen world and i bought pretty much every single product that you recommended and those are still some of my favorites (BOJ, scinic, hyggee, etc.). Wonderful to see you doing another review :) thanks for the work you've done!
Love Asian sunscreens. I used a ultra matte one from Biore as It didn't allow my oils to appear all day. Unfortunately, they changed the formulation and it ain't the same. I'm hunting for a new one.
I used the Soon Jung Etude house mineral sunscreen and it was thick white greasy sunscreen, strong white cast and made makeup slip off. It took me ages to finish as a result with how thick and greasy it was. The chemical version looks way better
totally off topic, but i'd LOVE if you reviewed gisou hair products sometime!! i'm currently hooked on the hair oil and wanna know if the rest of the products r worth the dough 🥵
Hi Abbey! 🙂 Can you please review the new Korean chemical sunscreen, "P. Calm Water Barrier Sun Cream SPF 50 PA ++++"? It has a light lotion texture, it's hydrating, and free of added fragrance. No white cast either.
Such a good video! I think the slippery feel of the Tocobo one is due to some silcones, is it minimal enough that it still works under water based foundations?
Thank you! I am going to try the last one with the Ginseng! I already use the DR. G sunscreen and as long as I’m adding a tinted sunscreen over it, I like it. I don’t like that one on its own. I’m excited to try that last one that looked so light and lovely!
Hi Abbey, thank you so much for your in depth sunscreen reviews :) I’ve been looking for a new one so I went to your channel and low and behold you uploaded this! ❤ Also, the Soon Jung is pronounced how it is spelled with the J not being silent. Just a btw from a Korean speaker :)
I would love it if you could give us your thoughts on the CeraVe skin Renewing line, as someone just getting started with sensitive skin. Thank you so much for your informative video!
Yikes. We have such different tastes in sunscreens 😂 That Dr G Mild Up is my favorite, and I dislike most of your recs, but I still love to watch you! To me the Dr G one isn't oily or glowy at all, I'd say it's more on the semi-matte / blurring side. I feel like most reviewers find it on the matte side as well, but hey, we all have different skin!
I’ve seen so many say it leaves a white cast and I’m anywhere from white to medium tan depending on if I’m using a tanner and I STILL can’t see any noticeable white cast especially after 20 minutes but maybe I’m just blind af
What has the research said is the safety of these new next-gen sunscreens? I thought there was some studies that said certain (older) chemical sunscreens absorbed into the bloodstream.
I have a question!!! if a shampoo has sulphate AND silicon, how does that work if one strips away oil and one adds in moisture? would people with damaged hair but fine greasy hair be able to use it? or do the two ingredients cancel out one another? ( i know the video isn't talking about hair but i just thought that i might get an answer if it was from a recent upload😂)
Hi Abbey! I’m a new subscriber and I started watching your videos because I recently chopped about 14in off my hair after 20 years 🥲 I’ve been watching your hair videos specifically because I want to do a “reset” of sorts with my hair care and I’ve learned a lot from you so far! I have a question and I’m sorry if you’ve talked about this before, but in terms of drugstore hair care, how do you feel about the Herbal Essence Bio Renew line? I’d love your thoughts because that’s my favorite line of hair care right now but wondering if I should switch to something better.
Thanks for the comparison Abbey was looking for new sunscreens to keep my eye out for once the ones I'm using expire!! Also your hair looks so cute did you just use normal bobby pins or is it a big fancy clip 👀?
I want to ask you what do you think about isopropyl alcohol in hair products, l notice this ingredient in alot of hair products even the ones that you recommend and it's high up in the ingredient list, l want to buy garnier frucit grow strong conditioner but l notice that this ingredient is in it.
What I’m wondering is, if I use a Korean product like beauty of Joseon, and then I put octocrylene etc… on top of it in the form of a skin teint, does that render the SPF ineffective?
Hey Abby i have a question. What do you think about Tazarotene? its stronger than tretinoin but give result fast according to scientists. Your opinion ?
I actually like a white cast from sunscreen because I'm pale, but I've yet to find one without fragrance and essential oils that doesn't break me out☹️ in my opinion BOJ completely ruined their sunscreen by adding essential oils. There's zero reason to include them.
Thanks so much Abbey for reviewing the sunscreens I haven't tried and giving me an idea of what to buy. Thank you very much and take care of yourself, I hope you are very well and happy 🥰
Sunscreen videos are the best! I recently found my holy grail Numbuzin No. 1 Clear Filter Sunscreen and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Mineral Sunscreen for my eyes. D’alba sunscreen was lovely at the beginning but then my eyes started to get irritated. So it was a hard pass for me. Skin 1004 Sunscreen was not my favorite it’s ok.
I know this doesn’t have to do with this video. Please please do a video on hair straighteners. Like which ones you recommend. Something that is less damaging to the hair. Please

D’alba UV Waterfull Essence
- smells like citrus floral but doesn’t feel stingy (I like the scent actually, would be good if they made it into perfume lol)
- blends in super fast
- no white cast
- can be TOO glowy, like I dipped my face in water. I find it hard to apply base makeup over it
- the glowy aspect can be toned down depending what moisturizer you use underneath. I use the Aveeno daily lotion which makes this sunscreen a nice satin finish instead of super glowy
- I feel like I sweat it off easily because it’s so watery LOL

Am I the only one notice the chapter for video timeline are knda off?
Thank you so much Abbey, for your hard work. Could you help me? which one is good for oily-very oily skin?
Love Asian sunscreens. I used a ultra matte one from Biore as It didn't allow my oils to appear all day. Unfortunately, they changed the formulation and it ain't the same. I'm hunting for a new one.
I used the Soon Jung Etude house mineral sunscreen and it was thick white greasy sunscreen, strong white cast and made makeup slip off. It took me ages to finish as a result with how thick and greasy it was. The chemical version looks way better
Great info thanks! I have really been loving the thank you farmer 50+ sun project water sun cream and purito daily go to sunscreen!!!! A lot!!
totally off topic, but i'd LOVE if you reviewed gisou hair products sometime!! i'm currently hooked on the hair oil and wanna know if the rest of the products r worth the dough 🥵
Abbey you need to try the zitsticka face wash! Since you like silky, you’ll LOVE it! It has the nicest texture I’ve ever found in a product!
Thank you for this! In your next sunscreen video can you try to add in weather or not they are water resistant?
can you do a video talking about chemical sunscreen ingredients that have been known as bad like avobenzo vs ones that aren’t like next gen ones?
More of these dedicated Asian sunscreen reviews! Please!
The Round Lab SPF isn't fragrance free! It has pine tree oil in it, just FYI to those sensitive to essential oils.
Thank you!
Hi Abbey! 🙂
Can you please review the new Korean chemical sunscreen, "P.
I super love the tocobo spf, i wish they had a bigger packaging.
Hi Abbey, thank you so much for your in depth sunscreen reviews :) I’ve been looking for a new one so I went to your channel and low and behold you uploaded this! ❤
Also, the Soon Jung is pronounced how it is spelled with the J not being silent. Just a btw from a Korean speaker :)
Can you please try & review Derma:B Everyday Sunblock SPF50 PA++++ 200ml & SCINIC Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence SPF50+ PA++++ 50ml? ❤xx
I wanted to love the toboco one so much! But it peeled and it's so fragranced!
I would love it if you could give us your thoughts on the CeraVe skin Renewing line, as someone just getting started with sensitive skin. Thank you so much for your informative video!
I really like Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream SPF 50 PA++++
I wonder which ones or one would be best for super dry skin?? Love all the work you put into trying and showing these going on.
Please review the ELF sunscreens!!
Missed the glow meter! 😊
Unfortunately the mineral sunscreens contain Butyloctyl Salicylate which is practically a chemical filter.
Thank you for the reviews.
I want to ask you what do you think about isopropyl alcohol in hair products, l notice this ingredient in alot of hair products even the ones that you recommend and it's high up in the ingredient list, l want to buy garnier frucit grow strong conditioner but l notice that this ingredient is in it.
I would like to find a sunscreen that works well under makeup, no white cast and one that will work for my oily face
Plz try out d Nambuzin no. 1 calming water sunscreen, biore watery essence reformulated version, skin aqua uv moisture gel 2023 version!!
Not skincare related..but can you do an updated video on your current color/toner situation?? Thanks 😊
What I’m wondering is, if I use a Korean product like beauty of Joseon, and then I put octocrylene etc… on top of it in the form of a skin teint, does that render the SPF ineffective?
Hey love I think the chapters on the video might be off. Love your videos 💙💙
I was so excited for new Asian sunscreen recs!!! But I will say: I haven’t been convinced to change from my scinic or mermaid ones
i think your description box has the time stamps for the full face of spf makeup tutorial!
Can you please do a video about metals and hair? I receently saw the new L'oreal Metal Detox line, wondering ur thoughts?
Can you review the Mentholatum Sunplay Clear Water Sunscreen with Color Control SPF 50+
Hi abbey i think you should mention if its water /sweat resistant or not too. Thanks
Please do a video on make up and skincare with zero pore cloggers!!
Thanks so much Abbey for reviewing the sunscreens I haven't tried and giving me an idea of what to buy. Thank you very much and take care of yourself, I hope you are very well and happy 🥰
Of course! Thank you xoxo
you should try the anua heartleaf silky moisture sun cream! it's getting viral in korea
Currently loving the new Haru Haru sunscreen (yellow tube)!
Hi! could you let me know where do you find original korean sunscreens from? 🌹
Been loving the skin1004 one!
Hi Abbey can you please tell me which sunscreens don't burn/irritate the eyes.
I know this doesn’t have to do with this video. Please please do a video on hair straighteners. Like which ones you recommend. Something that is less damaging to the hair. Please
