As #Genesis continues their relentless assault on the luxury segment, the all-new #GenesisGV70 has its sights set on the ultra competitive compact luxury SUV class. Sporting the same elegant and expressive design from the GV80, the smaller #GV70 packs a punch that will have shoppers seriously questioning their need for a fancier Euro luxury badge. This #GV70Sport also packs a punch with its 3.5L twin-turbo V6 allowing it to compete with cars like the Audi SQ5, X3 M40i, and GLC43.

Happy Weds to everyone! Hope you all are having a fantastic week! Don't forget if you want to submit your entry to potentially win a BMW M2 CS and support a great cause go to www.omaze.com/RRBMWM2. We've been waiting all year to drive this new GV70 and it certainly didn't disappoint. When Genesis releases an all-electric version of this car, you better believe its going to challenge the Tesla Model Y head on. Its our new favorite pick for now until we drive the upcoming Lexus NX next month!
@Redline Reviews, I can sum up the new 2022 Lexus NX for you. I’m no journalist but I can confidently say that the NX that no ones even driven yet is already outclassed. Why? Because the nx is just a rav4, which in itself, is just a Toyota, and being a Toyota means it’s automatically outclassed in every comparison metric. Name one Toyota or Lexus product that has ever proclaimed or currently proclaims the title “benchmark” in any segment.
Compact sedan benchmark? Nope
Midsize sedan benchmark? nope
Compact cuv benchmark? Nope
3 row suv benchmark? nope
Minivan benchmark? Nope
Pickup truck benchmark? Nope
Luxury SUV benchmark?; nope
Subcompact benchmark? Nope
Luxury sedan benchmark? Nope
The answer to this question is that you can’t name one because it doesn’t exist 😆.
The nx is front wheel drive, because it’s just a rav4. That automatically puts it at a disadvantage vs others. It doesn’t have a torque vectoring AWD that’s any better than SH AWD. It doesn’t have a fast shifting transmission like Honda’s 10 speed or the ZF 8 speed. It doesn’t have a double wishbone front suspension like other players. The AWD system won’t make the back end step out. It’s not gonna have any sort of rear bias. And the power trains being offered, while there are quite a few, are just nothing short of an utter disappointment:
2.5L I4 203hp (8.2 seconds)
2.4L Turbo I4 275hp (6.8 seconds)
2.5L I4 hybrid 240hp (7.3 seconds)
2.5L I4 PHEV 300hp (6 seconds)
The performance Lexus quotes clearly shows that It still cannot compete in this segment. The new turbo sounds like it is good power on paper, but so is a cheaper Mazda CX-5 turbo or even a Hyundai Santa Fe / Kia Sorento turbo… the CX5 and Everyone else will run circles around the nx all day.
Now are the nx hybrids and PHEVs fuel efficient? Without question yes. Will this be reliable? Also unequivocally yes. But those things are not really important here for a luxury brand especially when you spend 50-60K. If you want fuel economy and reliability, go buy a Prius, RAV4, Camry, or corolla for that. Even if you somehow value a luxury brand with fuel efficiency and reliability, you have to give up way too much in many areas. You miss out on the key aspects of a luxury cuv with the nx. Whereas with the other competitors, you don’t really give up anything.
Compared to the competition like the cx5 turbo, Rdx, gv70, x3, glc, xc60, q5, all of them absolutely destroy the new nx in just about every category shown below. no ifs ands buts maybes ors what-ifs:
Exterior design
Interior design
Materials quality
Fit and finish
Luxury
Technology
Handling
Performance
Comfort
Braking
suspension polish
Chassis dynamics
weight balance
The nx isn’t even going to score high or even above average in any of these categories because they know they can’t. The NX is not well rounded and never will be. Or as Alex on autos would say, “the Honda Accord of luxury cuvs”. So there literally is no compelling reason to choose an NX over the other options.
Heck even the new Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage and the new Honda CRV are honestly more exciting products than the new NX.
So bottom line, prepare to be disappointed with the new Lexus NX. The gv70 is what I call “the true new Lexus NX”. The gv70 is still better than the new nx and I can bet 100% that the NX is not gonna be a luxury cuv benchmark because Toyota and Lexus know that they are incapable of such task.
So, Redline Reviews, I honestly wouldn’t even bother wasting your hard earned time with the new 2022 Lexus NX. If you’re given the opportunity to drive the new NX, I’d just completely pass on it
@@competitiveautomotive5457 agreed. My v6 Camry will smoke any new nx lol.
Also, you sound like a journalist the way you use those terms like double wishbone front suspension, fast shifting transmission or torque vectoring AWD
I feel like the only Toyota’s that I consider competitive are the v6 Camry, is500, rc f, lc500, Mirai, and the gx460. All other Toyota Lexus products are just laughable IMO
@@naveenthemachine thank you. I just watch a lot of car videos so I gained knowledge
But yeah the LX570 is good too albeit too expensive. Also I consider that Gs F, LS460 and LS600hL are also competitive items albeit they don’t exist anymore
@@competitiveautomotive5457 ah right. I forgot about those models haha. The ls460 and 600hl especially are the best Lexus sedans ever made. Even the Gs f is great because of its screaming v8 and chassis dynamics
16:02 cooled seats are available
I tried parking next to a white GV70 2.5T today to snap a picture of... Then I realized the owner was walking towards it as I was parking...add to the fact they parked the GV70 far away from all the other cars. Yes it was a bit awkward 😅🤦♂️
If he was a car guy it probably gave him pride that he purchased the right car.
You should have chatted with the owner a bit and asked how they liked it! :)
I used that excuse to when I stalk my future girlfriend
Things that r missing on the Lexus, I found on the Genesis. I test drove all of their cars, and the driving dynamics are overall much much better than what Lexus are currently offering rn. Except for the LC and the LS. G90 is really dated and a new gen is coming soon.

I heard in Canada, they might combine infinti and Nissan dealerships.
These cars are selling . I think Genesis aren’t putting enough cars out. Demand is higher than the supply. May be the dealership can’t handle more of these cars and also Consumers are purchasing at mark up prices.
@@MrGeezil uh, you just described the car industry as a whole. There's this little thing called a global pandemic/semiconductor chip shortage still going on.
@@theMLBfan I already know that but remember before the global shortage of chips, cars like the Kia Telluride was selling over MRSP. It’s not just shortage of chip.
@@MrGeezil The GV70 and GV80 are flying off the lots, they can't get enough of them. It's so funny that I've already seen a GV80 and a GV70 and it took forever to see a G80 on the road. For Asian luxury it is Lexus and Genesis for me. Acura is trying. Infiniti is all but dead at this point.

Cheaper than Infiniti qx50/55 essential sensory pkg by 1800 bucks. And the qx only has a 4cyl with mix of 2009/2015 tech. Great job Genesis

The GV70 is a great looking crossover, this may be a vehicle I may consider once my warranty expires on my current vehicle. Hyundai/ Genesis has really stepped up their game. Hyundai/Genesis Htrac awd is great in snow as well.

Wowww... what a show stopper! So amazing!! Absolutely beautiful inside and out. The quality and craftsmanship is outstanding! I would LOVE to own one 100%!! Kia, Hyundai, & Genesis are the vehicles to get!
The suede might be the reason why the cooled seats doesn't feel as cold as it does with leather in the middle of the seat back & leg cushion
Genesis (and Hyundai/Kia) use ventilated seats, not cooled seats. I had a previous gen G80 and it was the same way. Same as my current Accord also. My wife has a Chrysler Pacifica, which is a piece of junk, but it does have legit cooled seats and they are incredible compared to my Accord and old Genesis. Ventilated seats only pull heat/moisture away from your body rather than actually blowing cold air out through the seat perforations like real cooled seats do. It's pretty interesting if you look at the list of which brands offer ventilated vs cooled seats.
I have them and they are very cool and the venting is perfect..
@@mattspeer01 Sir, it’s all the same. Some seat designs offer cooler air than others. Different brands give the same exact feature(s) a different name. Usually the luxury brands will offer a cooler air condition seat with more powerful motors for a more affective flow of air. Genesis just didn’t fully cross their “T” here, that’s all.
This is better than the GV80 in my opinion even tho it’s smaller.
i think the same too....
Yep
I agree. This smaller one does look more tasteful. The regular GV80.........I don't know, it just looks kinda ostentatious and odd! Certain angles of the vehicle looks good and eye catching. But it's just not a vehicle I would want at all. But I give props to Hyundai for stepping out there to try. It's a decent debut based on response from those who like it. Hyundai cars to me always felt as though they copycat from other makes. As unappealing as this SUV is to me, I can at least say it is more original than others Hyundai cars.
There's nothing wrong with "smaller" those 3 row suvs are porkers to drive.
I totally agree!!
What a great looking vehicle! I am really impressed with the interior which, to me, looks extremely luxurious and comfortable. I also like the blue which I never thought I would say. Thanks for the in-depth review.

@Bridget Stone I have been able to make maximum profits off my trade with $40,000 and I have amassed about $190,000 in net profit In 4 weeks
The reason why the “cooled” seats didn’t feel all that cold is because the seats aren’t cooled, they’re ventilated. They simply blow air through the little perforations in the leather, but it’s not cooled air. It’s just the air that’s in the cabin. If the air conditioning is on its highest setting, the seats will feel much cooler. Unlike some manufacturers who truly offer cooled seats which have a cooling element for the air, Genesis only offers ventilated seats.
Amazing!

I have seen a number of reviews on this vehicle and each has struggled to find flaws....according to multiple reviews this car gets a gold star.

It does have automatic lane change. You have to turn it on. The icon looks like two lanes with arrows up by the tach. Your finger tips have to be touching the wheel.

In love! 🤩🤩 My only complain lol which is nitpicking is the beeping of the infotainment, it’s the same as my Kia Forte. Yes you can turn it off but Audi and other brands have these cool sound affects almost that make it sound more premium, but over all this is a solid winner!!

that's what I'm curious about too, I wonder how far they'll be able to take their 2 line design language
I'm still rocking my 2015 Genesis V8, not a single problem in 6 years of ownership. I'm a little disappointed that the current lineup doesn't have a V8 outside the G90 which is too big for my needs now that I'm looking to upgrade...
The v6s have a lot of get up and go tho. I got 2022 g70 3.3 and that bad boy flies. Ive test driven the 3.5 gv70 and its suprisingly quick
@@SAVAGEoLIFE It's not the power I'm after, it's the smoothness and sound of the V8. The V6 is just as quick but lacks the refinement a luxury car should have. If they wanted to go with a smaller fuel efficient engine, they should've gone with a straight 6, they're better balanced than a V so it'll be smoother but it still won't sound like a luxury car should.
@@MillionMileDrive i can understand that but i feel for mass market most people buying luxury cars dont care about speed or sound. Most just want a nice looking car with cool features. Thats why most people opt for the lower trims instead of the bigger engines. I do agree with you i woulda liked a v8 option for more power. But since they'll likely move to eletric in the near future i see why they weren't really tryna push for a more powerful v8

The gv70 looks great and the interior is amazing.
The gv70 is what I call “the new Lexus NX”.
And I love the nx but if you gave me a choice it’s the genny hands down
@Угон Харлеев the new nx interior is fugly. Exterior didn’t change much and is still a good looking car. But the gv70 is strides above the nx. And this is from someone who loves the nx.
@Угон Харлеев it does. That 14 inch screen that’s available on the nx is enticing. But there’s more than just a large screen. The interior design materials quality fit and finish luxury technology are all very important. The gv70 interior is just better in every way
Also the nx350 performance is laughable. 275hp and 317lb ft sounds good on paper but unfortunately a cheaper Mazda CX-5 has the same power levels at a lower price and has a nicer interior and handles way better and it’ll eat the nx350 easily. Plus Lexus said it’ll go to 60 in 6.9 seconds
Even the most powerful nx is still laughable. A rav4 prime or my v6 Camry performance wise will smoke any new nx and get better fuel efficiency
@Угон Харлеев 0-60 for the new nx is just 6.8 seconds. We already know that. They aren’t going to underrate their engines like the Germans do. On paper it’s not bad but the Mazda CX-5 will be faster have a better transmission, and handle better. Same goes for the Kia Sorento turbo or the Hyundai Santa Fe turbo.
But I would just not get the new NX turbo. The only reason I would say otherwise is if it offers a unique power train, such as the v6 out of the Camry or Highlander.

The car also can drive itself on the highways. You do have to tap the wheel to keep it going. It makes my drive easier. Plus it does switch lanes if you have it in highway drive. You tap the turn signal level which ane you want to go in. It will make the change, keep you centered and turn off the signal. Absolutely great car.
I want one!
This thing is freaking nice. I was thinking of getting a GLC43 AMG but I’m sure this thing is as nice or nicer for less money.
One thing I found out to check for is the plastic creaking of the dash and center console area. I was watching a video where these guys were saying that mercs feel cheap because of the creaky dash. I checked my 2014 kia, and there's no creaking. I still get the tech, and high end stuff, plus a better built car that has only had 2 minor issues, both were under the 5 year warranty.
@@redrock861 I've driven 3 and own a 3.5 Sport + (top trim in Canada). No creaks. Anywhere. Check the MB forums, they are Creakmeisters.
Hope the Dealers don’t hit you with the old “Market Adjustment” markup that will kill all the less money dreams.
This is nice and with the warranty, there's hardly any complaints
Great review!
