I live in Vancouver, Canada and just had the GV70 w/ 3.5TT overnight and totally fell in luv with it. Its a Luxury CrossOver that has plenty of power. It won't outperform the more sportier Benz GLC 63S AMG power & torque nor the X3 M 40i, or the Macan Turbo but the LUXURY (quieter & smoother ride) and the VALUE Proposition will have you thinking a few times over if the German options are really worth it for the extra cost. GV70 has the edge in my books b/c of the Ext & Int styling PLUS high level of materials used in the Int as top notch. I like to invest my money whenever possible and change out my daily every 5-10 yrs. This GV 70 has many Luxury features, new updated interior, that ext styling and enough power (less than 5 seconds 0-60) to have tons of fun with. Its exceptionally quiet in the cabin and in Comfort mode it really is a smooth ride. If ur comparing the GV70 to the Germans you will be blown away with all the luxury standard features (Drivers side massaging seats, front heated & cooled seats, that massive center screen, the move forward & back option on the key fob, massive sunroof & moon roof, AWESOME sound system, all the safety features, etc...) It really does offer an AWESOME VALUE vs the Germans. PLUS the scheduled maintenance for 5 yrs is INCLUDED!!! The price in Canada for a full load with the interior CF trim, 360 camera, quilted leather, etc is $75,500 including F&PDI. Just pay taxes and doc fee. I'm VERY Very impressed:-) Now, do I choose the electrified version or just get the gas powered one now? I like the electrified version b/c it has the sunroof where as the GV60 does not. Fantastic VALUE options either way. Cheers from Vancouver.
GV70 electified version has been very much valued well in Korea now. People have been shocked on stunning power(470hp maybe) and speed. with high completion So checking electirifed version can be highly recommendable for you. (and check white color interior, which is exclusive option for electrified version in Korea here and very very very beautiful)
I'd buy one of these over any BMW, Mercedes, or Audi SUV in a heart beat! The interior quality alone is much better than the so called "luxury" German cars. It's amazing that Hyundai are making quality like this yet the Germans seem to be cutting costs like using plastics on parts of the interior.
cars have become so expensive that if they maintained the same price difference, they would price them self out completely. They had to cheap out somewhere.
I heard somewhere that the materials in this car are not extremely premium but they do feel very premium. I don't see why more people do it like that. As long as it feels good, who cares that it's not real leather/alcantara/whatever? I'm really impressed with what Genesis is doing at the moment.
Hyundai Motor's Kona ev, Ioniq, and Genesis are concerned about fires, so a warning from the U.S. Department of Transportation has issued a warning not to park near residential areas in the U.S.😂😂😂
Although i am an OG Mercedes fanboy, must admit the new Genesis lineup is really mad! Would definitely consider one if i were to buy a new car! Love the styling and the fact that they are less common, a bit more unique choice. If they can be as reliable as Lexus over the long term, Genesis and Hyundai are gonna give Toyota a real hard time in the upcoming years! Design and interior qualitywise the Koreans are already way ahead Toyota...
@@l.t.p4941 Reliability for ultra long term (>100k miles) is definitely not on par with Toyota. It’s a sacrifice though as you’re getting way more power and features.
The interior material and build quality is so far ahead of the German cars especially Mercedes. The Germans have really fallen in that department. The new GLC has more hard plastic than cars half its price. It is unacceptable. Genesis is killing it right now and the Germans should learn from them. Mercs used to feel so solid and high quality now they feel light, brittle and frail.
@San Well their sales have declined. I wonder why. People have noticed the drop in quality for their ridiculous price. Other carmakers are making better cars for less.
Mercedes is surprisingly disappointing when it comes to quality. Both Audi and especially BMW have them beat in terms of quality. An A4 feels better than an E class and that says something. Yet to see how these genesis cars hold up but they look really good. Also I currently reside in Korea and these cars are an absolute bargain. 50k for the completely specced out variant where as you for the top spec X3 (not the X3M) here it costs like 80 or 90k with all the options.
@@rohancharlie3113 That is true. Couldn't agree more. Mercedes quality is awful these days. I recently saw a 2016 C Class for sale with only 126,000 kms on. @carwow Matt, what you mentioned between 16:22 - 16:28 about the vibrations from the small imperfections is what would make me want to go with a different brand of car. Example I can think of is driving the 2018 BMW 540i with its adaptive suspension. In comfort, it absolutely took away those minor imperfections and THAT to me is extremely important in a luxury vehicle. It would be the difference between going with one brand over the other as I drive on highway quite a lot and having a smooth supple ride is #1 importance. Thanks for going into such detail about ride quality as most reviewers do not talk about these little but IMPORTANT details.
If I was looking to buy an SUV, I'd just buy this, because I really like the interior. I think it's great. Not much of a fan of flooring the pedal on cars that aren't meant to be fast.
Just bought a 2.5 GV70 Sport Prestige. It really was the interior that won me over. I walked away from a Lexus NX450+ Plug In to buy the GV70 SP instead. The interiors aren't even a fair comparison.
Picked up a 2023 advanced (2.5T) and extremely happy with it.. Upgrading to the 3.5 sports trim didn't make a lot of sense - it's not a sports car by any means and can do without the cosmetics. Can imagine many people have similar thoughts and Genesis will mostly sell the advanced 2.5's. You get a lot of bang for the buck with this car, but what put me over the edge with it is the unbeatable warranty. I've had bmw's and porsches and they took up a lot of head space dealing with morons and cops on the road, $$ and maintenance. GV70 is just a good, cheap, civilized ride I don't need to think about. Made my wife happy too because she got an SUV kind of thing. It's a winner!
My old man had a lot to do with helping Genesis develop their leathers and other interior materials back in the early days and he always said hands down the Koreans, and specifically the Hyundai group, are the best of the best at quality control at scale... He worked with most of the big car manufacturers and said ze Germans haven't impressed on their mass produced cars since the early 90s. They went from having zero experience building luxury executive cars to being as good as the competition in the space of a decade and in car manufacturing at that scale, that requires a deal with the devil or freaking voodoo.
to be fair 10 years isnt hard at all to just copy what others are doing, you just buy their car and take it apart and learn, it's way way harder to be the first to develop something. that's where the real skill is. for the last 20 years and for the time being, all asian manufacturers are just copying what europeans are doing.
I can agree completely. I used to be a test-driver and R&D engineer here in Germany, and since Hyundai/Kia have departments in Frankfurt we also more often than not worked close together with them aswell. And i have to say, absolutely everything they do impressed me to the highest level. From building processes all the way down to cleaning the floors, they put attention to every single aspect and detail of their work, its truly amazing to work with them and their cars

impressive , it has presence , a generous 4.5 out of 5, genesis has raised the bar BUT, BUT the low mpg from the petrol version as driven , brings it down to a modest 2.5 from 5 . If theirs a 40 mpg plus mixed driving engine Genesis have a real decent chance of gaining a few landrover rover clients and normal buyers of german suv brands.
40MPG from a gasoline engine on a luxury SUV? If you want 40MPG then look at the Hyundai Kona hybrid. The Genesis G70 engine is tuned for performance, but you can switch to ECO mode when you want to stretch your gas. Maybe they can put the Kona hybrid drivetrain in a G70. I'd consider one of these for my next SUV just based on the looks and that lovely interior, but the MPG figure stated in this vid would scare me off considering I can get double that in a decently spec'd Q5.
If you're talking about turbocharged 4 cylinder competitors from Audi, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus, I would have the Genesis hands down over any of those. It's only when you get into the high performance models like the GLC43 or X3 M40i or Macan S, or SQ5 where I might choose a German competitor over the Genesis based on potentially superior driving dynamics.

I'm VERY Very impressed:-)
Now, do I choose the electrified version or just get the gas powered one now?
I like the electrified version b/c it has the sunroof where as the GV60 does not.
Fantastic VALUE options either way.
Cheers from Vancouver.
GV70 electified version has been very much valued well in Korea now. People have been shocked on stunning power(470hp maybe) and speed. with high completion
So checking electirifed version can be highly recommendable for you. (and check white color interior, which is exclusive option for electrified version in Korea here and very very very beautiful)
The white version is too blingy and looks like a rapper's car, or a clinicians car. it's not a version I'd want to live in.
Bmws used to be so much better a while ago. They were in a whole league of their now, it's sad to see what german cars have become
cars have become so expensive that if they maintained the same price difference, they would price them self out completely.

It really is crazy.
to be fair 10 years isnt hard at all to just copy what others are doing, you just buy their car and take it apart and learn, it's way way harder to be the first to develop something. that's where the real skill is. for the last 20 years and for the time being, all asian manufacturers are just copying what europeans are doing.

Yep. Almost a hybrid combinations of Countach and 8C.
impressive , it has presence , a generous 4.5 out of 5, genesis has raised the bar BUT, BUT the low mpg from the petrol version as driven , brings it down to a modest 2.5 from 5 .
