  • Your body needs some key nutrients to maximize both the quantity and quality of your sleep. Vitamins such as D, E, C, and B6 and B12 give you strong bones and muscles, maintain cardiovascular health, and can help with the production of hormones like melatonin and seratonin.
    If you consume a standard Western diet, it's unlikely that you're getting all the nutrients you need. Supplements can play an important role in filling those gaps. Join sleep expert, Dr. Michael Breus, as he describes why these vitamins are so important, what the LACK of these vitamins can do to your sleep, and ways to get your recommended daily allowance from both supplementation AND your diet.
    Always talk to your doctor before starting supplements, too. Getting the proper dosing - and the timing - of your supplements is critical for success.
    📺 For in-depth content on the best vitamins and minerals for sleep, check out our playlist: • The Vitamins & Mineral...

    I can fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow; my problem is, I don't stay asleep. I generally awaken anywhere from two to three hours of sleep. If I get four hours of sleep at night, that is a really good night. I am under a. lot of stress in my family so I am sure that does not help at all.

    Some time ago, I was told by a nutritional therapist, that if you are taking statins, they interfere with your ability to synthesize vitamin D from sunlight exposure. One video that talks about statins and vitamin D etc is 'If you take a statin, Do these 7 things Right Now! (Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor)'. It is on KenDBerryMD channel (19 Aug 2023). I have also watched a video of Dr. Eric Berg DC saying that having enough potassium helps with your sleep.

    8:34 Watch for excessive amounts of B6 in multivitamin tablets. My magnesium tablets had 60mg of B6 in them (unknown to me), with the same brand having 60mg of B6 in their multivitamins. They are toxic doses with the daily recommended amount being 1.5mg. Most people get that amount easily from food.
    Excess levels of B6 can cause peripheral neuropathy. My last blood tests were 3 times higher in B6 than the level known to cause peripheral neuropathy in some people, so I had to immediately switch to a magnesium without B6. Always check to see if B6 is in any of your supplements.

    • @tnijoo5109
      @tnijoo5109 10 місяців тому +3

      Take b vitamins closer to bed, except for B12. Take b12 when you first wake up. Take vitamin D during or after breakfast or lunch so long as there’s fat in whatever you’re eating. If you don’t naturally eat foods with calcium and plenty of magnesium, take a supplement with the vitamin d. Most important thing with calcium and vitamin d is to take vitamin K2. If you have a supplement with vitamin d, k2, magnesium, and a little calcium, you’re probably doing pretty well. If you take vitamin d too close to bed it can sometimes keep you up.

      Testing any vitamin b with a standard serum blood test is probably going to be inaccurate and could even show falsly high results when the person is actually deficient especially if they take supplemental b's as it just shows what's in your blood and being eliminated not what's being absorbed for actual use. Intracellular micronutrient testing will provide more accurate results.

      Not sure if you’re aware, but most vitamins are either water or fat soluble. You need to take them either with some fat or water for proper absorption. Like vitamin D is fat soluble. B-12 is water soluble but needs to be taken with some food anyway. Better google how to take them to make sure absorption is good. Otherwise is like throwing our money away. I only learned this a couple of years ago.

    An early morning walk may help you set your sleep cycle, but you won't get any vitamin D benefit from it, not even in the tropics. You need to read up on sun angle, latitude and season.

    • @thisscreensucks
      @thisscreensucks 10 місяців тому +1

      You're crazy. Sun angle might affect intensity. But to say there are no health benefits unless the sun angle is correct is c crazy. If its on your skin. You're good.

      We must be so low in vitamin D here in Ireland.

    • @davewalter1216
      @davewalter1216 8 місяців тому +1

      @@bcent5758 Depends on how much oily fish you have in your diet - have a teaspoon of cod liver oil a day and you'll probably do okay. Given that the sun is at a low angle and not up very far in the sky from October to April in Ireland - and you are probably well rugged up when outside - I'd say you won't be getting any from the sun then (no matter what hogwash the Irish Times may print). But hey - ask your doctor for a blood test if you are worried. Age and diet are also important factors.

      If you are wearing clothes, only about 17% of your skin is exposed. So, to get full benefit you need to stay in the sun for longer time. Wearing sunscreen prevents Vitamin D3 production in the skin.
