I paid for a VIP meet and greet with Ian Brown after one of his gigs, it was a room of maybe 15-20 people. He turned up about 90 minutes late for it, took one step in the door, looked at the crowd and said 'nah, I ain't having this' and walked back out. None of us where even mad, it was pure Ian Brown behaviour. Very aloof character. 😂

The guitarist in this vid isnt John Squire. His name is Steve D. We used to work for the same company and lived a few doors away in Aberdeen. He used to be in a Stone Roses cover band and one day got asked to play and tour with Ian Brown as he wanted to add Stone Roses songs to his Solo performances.
The instrumental was just about to kick in! And his swagger is because he’s from Manchester, same as Liam. Back then the acid house scene was just kicking of and Manchester was known as MADCHESTER. Guys a bit of history of the bands that shaped our culture during late 80's & 90's & today if you want to go down the rabbit hole Lol you will then start to understand why these type of bands became so popular with the UK public as they are all working class musicians that had lyrics we could all relate to hence why you guys enjoy Oasis so I'm going to name a list of bands you should check out even in your spare time as there's many and much more: The Smiths (Band)/ The Jam (Band) or Paul Weller (Solo Artist)/ The Stone Roses or The Seahorses or Ian Brown (Solo Artist)/ Primal Scream (Band)/ Happy Mondays (Band)/ The Libertines or The Babyshambles (Bands)/ The View (Band)/ The Cult (Band)/ The Cure (Band)/ The Coral (Band)/ Stereophonics (Band)/ Manic Street Preachers (Band)/ Travis (Band)/ The Verve (Band)/ Gerry Cinnamon (Solo Artist)/ KT Tunstall (Solo Artist)/ John Martyn (Solo Artist)/ Paolo Nutini (Solo Artist).
Also an Australian Band called "DMA's" who was influenced by Oasis, and The Stone Roses. The lead singer live vocals is insane & Liam Gallagher asked them to tour with him as he admitted being a fan.
Ian was in Dispute with squire at the time on playing roses tracks at gigs. brown never played any roses songs live at solo gigs until squire did at his own solo gigs I've been to see brown live 5 times before t in the park I'm sure this is the first time he sang them live since the roses toured absolutely amazing.
This was the opening track of their debut album in 1989. That brooding base line that slowly faded in. The superb little solos of John Squires guitar. That sublime swagger of Ian Browns vocals. The problem is that Ian Brown is really bad singing live. This is one of his best performances that I have seen and that is probably because he was obviously more concerned with what was going on off stage than his actual vocals. I was there at the Reading Festival in 1996 when I heard this live for the first time. That base line. That swagger. When he started to sing the crowd was pleading with him to stop singing and to just let Mani and Reni solo.
I was there too Bernard but wasn’t it 1995? and yea walked away in disgust I was heartbroken one of my all time favourite bands at the time bombed spectacularly! He was off his chops though to be fair and half the band had already quit lol. Heaton Park, Etihad and Hampden Park were magical though.. 3 of the best nights of my life!
I was at this. Ian and the band couldnt hear the monitors because the crowd were singing too loudly, thats why he was asking for the sound to be turned up.
Ian brown once told shaun ryder from the happy Monday's, he would cut he's hand off.the roses and the Monday's also had a big rivalry, like blur and oasis.
Stone Roses are superb. I have all of and love Ian Brown's solo Albums as well. He writes some deadly songs. Unfortunately he is not a great singer live. Although I did see them in Dublin a few years ago on the reunion tour and his voice held up very well. I had an excellent night anyways :-)
Try and find one of the live gigs from Manchester 2012. The whole city was bliss! Total love everywhere. Plus the original line up has the best musicians of their time.

love the Rose's but this is the one, is classic
Great reaction Gents, sen them live at Finsbury Park, awesome 🙏🐊❤️🦉👍
You want a groove, it must be love spreads stone roses, amazing, am here for the 90s indie
Guys a bit of history of the bands that shaped our culture during late 80's & 90's & today if you want to go down the rabbit hole Lol you will then start to understand why these type of bands became so popular with the UK public as they are all working class musicians that had lyrics we could all relate to hence why you guys enjoy Oasis so I'm going to name a list of bands you should check out even in your spare time as there's many and much more:
The Smiths (Band)/ The Jam (Band) or Paul Weller (Solo Artist)/ The Stone Roses or The Seahorses or Ian Brown (Solo Artist)/ Primal Scream (Band)/ Happy Mondays (Band)/ The Libertines or The Babyshambles (Bands)/ The View (Band)/ The Cult (Band)/ The Cure (Band)/ The Coral (Band)/ Stereophonics (Band)/ Manic Street Preachers (Band)/ Travis (Band)/ The Verve (Band)/ Gerry Cinnamon (Solo Artist)/ KT Tunstall (Solo Artist)/ John Martyn (Solo Artist)/ Paolo Nutini (Solo Artist).
Also an Australian Band called "DMA's" who was influenced by Oasis, and The Stone Roses. The lead singer live vocals is insane & Liam Gallagher asked them to tour with him as he admitted being a fan.
checkin in... my fav stone roses song ,that bass though
You need to listen to their first album to understand why they are adored.
there is only one live video gig on youtube and it’s not the best quality but it’s really amazing
Can’t explain how much £ I’d pay for a Reni solo concert
If you aren’t British and of a certain generation you’ll never understand how important the Stone Roses were or are.
Amen. And explaining is hard as f@ck.
I'm there singing along RIP T IN THE PARK MISS U SO MUCH STONE ROSES #LEGENDERY
Two words. Slam tent. Biblical.
The bass hitting your chest felt it for few days after lol awsome
For I Wanna Be Adored have a look at their first comeback gig in 2011 at Warrington Parr Hall
I was at this. Ian and the band couldnt hear the monitors because the crowd were singing too loudly, thats why he was asking for the sound to be turned up.
T in the Park was huge festival in Scotland, attracted all the greats
The best Stone Roses vid, if you can access it, is Fools Good, Heaton Park, from the Made of Stone Documentary, truly epic.
Shoot you down by The Stone Roses is one of my favourites
Fool's gold, extended version. Banger!.
you should hear liams voice in 1991 it’s basically the same as ian
Brilliant brilliant brilliant, more Ian brown 🤙
Oasis - See the sun 1991. It was written pre oasis i believe, a real fucking banger, Stone roses vibe
Second that
You're excellent judges of character.... Fools Gold and Sally Cinnamon are good!! Kx
Was just gonna post Sally Cinnamon. Cracking tune.
Sally is my favourite roses tune
@@garethjones4359 mine too!!🥰🥰🥰🥰 Kx
In the late, late 80' and early 90's I listened to their first album on tape so much it developed a skweek.
I am the Resurrection live in Blackpool….Mr Brown is off his face but what a live performance…..perfect
Ian brown once told shaun ryder from the happy Monday's, he would cut he's hand off.the roses and the Monday's also had a big rivalry, like blur and oasis.
If you haven’t already, you should do night boat to Cairo, or one step beyond by madness
Watch the video of them performing at Blackpool in 1989. (Waterfall)
She Bangs the drums by the Stone Roses next. Or This is the One by the Stone Roses (also the song they play at Man Utd games as they enter the field)
It’s the Manchester attitude, Ian and Liam both have it 👊🏻👍🏻🎉
The Stone Roses had some real good tunes. The Best of The Stone Rose's CD there all on there.
Try and find one of the live gigs from Manchester 2012. The whole city was bliss! Total love everywhere. Plus the original line up has the best musicians of their time.
Mani also from the roses is playing bass on this👌
You gotta do I am the Resurrection.. Full version! Life changing man! 😉
