This review literally made me go back into the local liquor store and buy the emerald giant cask. Can't wait to try it!
Their regular strength rye is listed as a blend of 3-5 year old barrels whereas the cask strength is listed as 4-6 years.
The Bourye has Dickel in it. Learned that at a redwood empire seminar yesterday. The Kentucky distillate is also Heaven Hill.
I totally tasted Heaven Hill on Pipe Dream, surprised no one I've watched mentions it
So I can totally see Emerald Giant being the best of these. The regular bottling is the one I most want cranked to 11. Need to track down the cask strength.

Been wanting to try these for awhile and saw that I could get two Pipe Dream shipped to me for $75 a bottle. Cracked into the first one and I'm pretty happy with it.
That eyeliner gives Dan a Clockwork-Orange vibe. Hope Dan's not standing near Vampire when he gets the urge to sing "i'm singing in the rain..."
My friends and I did a vertical of all of these. Pipe dream was the clear winner followed by Lost Monarch. Emerald Giant was our least favorite, but we still enjoyed it. I bought 2 of each of PD and LM. Great bottles for $69.
I really appreciate this review, would have bought the lost monarch cask strength for sure as that's my favorite of the regular proof, but instead scored two of emerald giant cask strength
Indpndnt Joe sent me a sample of these three for Christmas. Regarding their regular baseline 90 Proof offerings, I prefer lost monarch without a doubt. But these cask strength ones, I prefer pipe dream. Super good. Cheers
I just received my bottle of Emerald Giant! Purchased it entirely based on this video. I think I literally got the last one available online! So excited to try it.
If you cut the bottom of the pumpkin out and set it on a candle it will last longer than cutting the top to remove guts. FYI

I'll buy all three if I see them, but I'm most looking forward to the Emerald Giant. In the core line, the Lost Monarch is my favorite, but all my favorite cask strength bottles are ryes.
For Decembers pour guesses, what about getting a bourbon advent calendar and some how making it blind, or I'd definitely watch an episode of youse making your way through a calendar...in one sitting haha

Stellum black rye is good. Also rare breed has cinnamon the regular emerald giant is sweet too for rye, like em both. And michters rye.
Preservation is the Kentucky source and Preservation is sourcing from Redwood too
You guys better not have steered me wrong on this. I'm a RE Lost Monarch fan, so have been asking my local liquor stores if they'd be getting the cask strength versions. Never thought I'd see them in person. Yesterday, my LLS had all 3, 2 bottles of each. So, rather than get the Lost Monarch, I bought 2 bottles of the Emerald Giant. lol
Dan still has the Elsa makeup on...classic. it's what Fireball will do you you.

It's funny you were standing right next to all the Sagamore rye but never mentioned it. How does Emerald giant measure up to their stuff ? Specifically the double oak and the 8 year reserve?
Regular emerald is good but sweeter and less spicy than most rye
That's because I feel like it would be easy to misspeak on those bottles. We'll have to do some blinds to see where that emerald giant shakes out, but it's right up there with the sagamore ryes for me

Kozuba and Sons High Wheat 7 Year Rye is another good wheated rye if you can find it, highly recommended

Earlier this year Koval, out of Chicago, released a single barrel rye that is 51% rye, 49% wheat, 110 proof. Strong clove note!

I only ever see the regular strength RWE bottlings by me in the Chicago area. Would like to try the cask strength Rye if it's priced reasonably.
Great review, gotta get me the Emerald Giant cask strength rye. That’s the only one I’ll buy, as I dont like Redwoood Empire in general based on the poor tasting 90 proof Lost Monarch (young spikey flavor notes).
My fav rye so far is KC Cask Strength Rye. I like them spicy and peppery. Maybe this will dethrone it, or at least be a worthy contender.
The LM looks lighter than I would have expected. Wasn’t the original LM like 5-11 yr old bourbon and 4-6yr old rye? Or am I mistaken, Either way this doesn’t sound like it is the original but at CS, seems like a new blend that they labeled as LM.
Same for me on the regular Lost Monarch. Too much rye.
Regular Emerald is one of my favorite ryes, but considering the BiB was $80...I don't hold out much hope for these to be reasonable or available 😮💨

us commoners basically don't acquire them. I've been looking for weeks for information on a release date and couldn't find anything until "sold out" showed up on their website...
They were just released. The ones on thier site sold out, but Im sure there is a normal distribution through brick and morters. 20+ barrel batches should yield more than what sold out on thier site in a couple hours
