- Today we get together to drink some Jack Daniels... Just kidding, let's talk about how much we think the Weller Whiskeys are worth. Starting at Special Reserve and ending with the rare whiskey that is William Larue Weller. Someday we are going to have to do this with some moonshines. Y'all need to revisit this video since the pandemic and the run on Weller products.
Here in 22' I agree
Agreed revisit!
Yes, agree
I agree!
Here is 2023, and yes, this needs an update.
I was at the liquor store on my birthday trying to find something to drink for the night, and I just so happened to find a lone bottle of Weller 107 WITH the cork for $50. Needless to say it was a good birthday. Thanks for the video guys.
Total Wine in Austin Texas just got Weller 12, 107, Full Proof, and CYPB. I got to the place late and snagged the last bottle of 12 for 36 bucks. Today was a great day.
WL Weller Special Reserve was going for $100 a bottle in Las Vegas. Here in Montana I am paying just over $22 a bottle and I love this whiskey.
This is a perfect mix of production value, but not too slick. Stay casual.
I was just in Columbus OH for work and picked up the SR for $22 and 107 for $50 at the local Kroger. Haven't opened the 107 yet. The SR is tasty, great cheap daily. I also got extremely lucky and walked in the day they opened a special crate of Old Overholt 114 and 11 year.
Great job guys. Always looking forward to your videos, especially ones like this.
Gonna be tough to beat that run of bottle flips 👍🏼
The secondary prices in 2022/23 have skyrocketed on these 😂
Nice video, good to see a honest review of our bourbons. I'm right with you on your notes 👍🏻
Love the videos you guys put out both for the information and the sheer entertainment. I’m done searching for anything from Buffalo Trace. If I see something I haven’t tried I’ll buy it at retail price and that it.
Sitting here at home fresh off the plane and I have to say these all pretty spot on for me with what I have (1-7, FP and WLW)... and since I just got the Woodford Wheat I pourd some and man... I am surprised by it.
I didnt think I would ever find Weller where I live and I happened to stumble into a store with a fresh case on the shelf
I spent 60 with taxes and I dont regret it with all things considered
In Texas it’s hard to get reserve because everyone buys it , lots of stores only let you buy one bottle
I'm only seeing the 1.75ltrs now. I still haven't seen a 750ml in the last 3 years.
Saw the Weller special reserve in a store in DE today $99!!! Outrageous! Also we have no sales tax that's just the price! I think most of the stores around me sell way to high on a lot of brands
God damn that camera work on the bottles close up, love it guys
Thanks man!!! Working on production over here!
I just won the Utah Draw on a bottle of Weller Full Proof for $50. I’m excited! 🤙🏼
Just bought an Antique 107 yesterday for $65 Canadian (about $40 USD). I will try to buy more. Very happy with this.
Weller 107 secondary price, in Texas is at least $100+. You can get retail price if you get up every morning and check the big box stores around town.
Gotta revisit this- this has moved a lot in 3 years!
I saw a bottle of the Weller Special Reserve for the first time (Washington state). I snatched it up for $27. It was good, but wasn't as magical as I hoped.
27 isn't bad for sure if you've never had it.
I still laugh over the WLW gargle, I was like did he really just do that!🤣
This is a great series you guys are doing. Thanks for putting the info out there. I am now overwhelmed with sadness and will have to crack open the Special Reserve that I overpaid for and drink the sorrows away, hopefully my tears falling into my glass won’t take away too much of the sweetness. Just so you all can see how ridiculous that market is in SOCal. WSR-$40/W107-$90-100+/W12- $150+/ WCYPB $900+/WFP-$600+/WLW-$900+/dreaming that you can get one at a decent price well that still free
Larceny barrel proof, makers cask, makers 46, or Woodford wheat. There are so many other good wheaters out there.
Just scored a couple weller 12s here in Southern Oregon… love finding bottles for retail. Sadly I’m from Cali and Weller SR is going for 100+ 107 is 150+ and Weller 12 is 300+…. Insane!!!!!
Love this series, you guys saved me from spending WAY to much on a Rock Hill Farms 2 days ago. Had to go back and re watch that episode.
What did they want for it?
Bourbon Junkies They wanted $200. Zero chance I was going to pay that but I was debating on $100 and a bottle since I’ve never even seen it, even through secondary.
Love the videos guys. You guys have helped me open up my eyes when I'm picking out bottles at the store. How do I purchase one of your shirts?
Join the Facebook group, we're currently testing out a new plan hopefully for fulfilment moving forward. Information will be on there first.
Cant even find them in the south east, store prices are Reserve $69/79, Antique $129. 12 or others I have never seen in person.
I maybe able to help you if you are still interested
Special reserve for $70?? In Ohio SR is in abundance and sitting on shelves for $25-30
What blows my mind, is that I am in KY where they make this stuff; and yet, they are exceedingly rare. Also, 2 years out from when this video was made, secondary market values are significantly higher now. $220+ for Weller-12 and $1,750+ for WLW.
Lol I've never seen a 12 year for under $300
Super, excellent video. One of you very best videos. Thank you and great job. Keep it up!
Went into a VERY small liquor store built onto the side of a rural gas station and they had about a dozen bottles of Special Reserve covered in dust for $22.50 +tax.
I picked one up and I'm not even a big fan.
Too bad there's no real secondary market in Texas, I'd have bought them all.
In California liquor stores sell them in my city for $150ish a bottle. It's insane.
Where the hell you at? I’m East of Houston and can’t find it.
@@rogerhagariii same. Deer park here and cant fine it anywhere
@@rogerhagariii I saw one 350ml in Houston about 3 years ago then never saw it again until last April. I've only seen the giant 1.75ltr bottles since and I just don't want that much, lol. I've never seen a 107 in person, before.
Love Seans palate.. Love the 107 and I freaking love Redbreast Cask Strength!!!
Can confirm that Weller SR is everywhere. Still it doesnt ever make it to a shelf
Weller SR is on the shelf everyday in Ohio. You can get the 750 for $23 or 1.75 for $49
Pete G On my way!
Can confirm, Texas has Weller Special Reserve everywhere, 750 & 1.75’s for days on shelves at msrp.
AJ Lopez I remember when we could find the 12 year everywhere also in Texas
Whiskey Lino yeah but then the taters came and hoarded every bottle they could, & now it’s allocated, gotta be on a waitlist.
What I needed today. Thanks guys.
I saw a retailer was opening up their vault and it contained Weller FP. I was excited until I saw the price: $580. The place has some good stuff that's hard to find where I am and sells it for regular retail prices so I was hoping for a reasonable price. By comparison, this retailer has Kentucky Owl Confiscated for around $110 and another local store had that same bottle for $299. So I was thinking that if Kentucky Owl was regular price then other bottles in their vault would be reasonably priced.
Yikes, I just got a bottle of Full Proof for $65
Just had a friend drive to KY and brought me back a bottle of reserve and antique. He paid $43 for the reserve and $112 for the antique. They wanted $230 for the 12. I passed on that. Even though I overpaid, at least I now have a bottle of them. And,..... here in VA, can’t find them anywhere, so that was okay with me.
I have a bottle of special reserve I tried that is amazing. I also have a bottle of antique I haven’t opened yet. The antique 107 I got for $54
Embarrassed to say I bought a secondary Weller special reserve for $80, but COVID probably made that happen to a degree.
Can you post a link for the old video you referenced in this one?
Great video guys!! I think the entire Weller line up is great at MSRP, but it’s unfortunate obtaining any of these bottles with exception of the special reserve and occasionally the Antique at MSRP is highly unlikely and the secondary pricing on most of these bottles is ridiculous. Once again great videos guys!! Keep up the great work!! Cheers!!🥃
Redemption Wheated is less intense on the bite but has a nice finish
kirby culp I haven’t had that one, sounds like it’s worthy of a try!! Cheers Kirby!!
The local spot used to have the standard 12-year but now I can't seem to find it. I've been to about a dozen liquor stores in New Jersey and no one seems to carry it. The only place I did see it had it over $200 for the 107!!!
Thanks for doing this video bc the special reserve green label is going for 80 bucks at a retail shop
Weller SR is actually harder to find here in Houston for the last couple years. At least the 750ml. Lately all I've seen on the shelves is the huge 1.75lt bottle. It's a big beast! I just don't want that much, lol. I've never seen an Antique 107 here, but my store had Larceny BP for about $43. They were sold out, lol.
i can never find SR on the shelf in the Knoxville area, but I agree, no more than MSRP for it. It is tasty but very thin and don't even drink it after having a pour of anything above 105 proof or it tastes like water.
Thumbs up for the perfect “label display” toss and grab^^
Special Reserve is everywhere in Texas and Oklahoma. You can even find old label pretty regularly in OK. This has been a banner year for the Weller line in TX. Several big drops of the entire line (except WLW obviously). You didn't even mention Weller Single Barrel. The one I've had was amazing!
Weller single barrel wasn't out when we filmed this
Can't find any Weller in NC but I'm going to MI to hunt this year and I'm stocking up !
I can help you...
I camped out at a grand opening of a store a few weeks ago. I got a bottle of er17 for $120 out the door. I had a choice between that and the WLW. decided for the er 17 since i also scored a regular ER.
Yea I think we'd be down for camping out for that deal too! Solid score on that
Great video as usual!!! Thanks for the escape
Have guys have you had the antique 107 single barrel Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley select? If so what would you value it at msrp secondary and what each of you would pay for it?
We have not.
Special Reserve in LA, almost fell over when I saw the price - 80. + tax (I think 10%) pass.
I found 1 bottle at Gil Turners liquor store on Sunset for $100. I visited home in Cleveland and found a shelf full at the grocery store for $17.99. FYI, you can get neat pours of Antique 107 for $6 at Cassel’s Burgers in KTown all day.
Appreciate the review and totally agree with the MSRP prices. I realize this is also a 2 year old video but I have been buying SR for 5 years and in the wild (IL, KY, OK, MO, IA, WI) I've only found 107 @ $99, Full Proof @ $700 and have never found 12 year, so my question to you is where in Michigan can I regularly find these 3 for MSRP? I'm ready to get into my car tonight.
I got a spot on the east side of the Great Lakes State
I got 3 bottles of 12 year for $39.99 each and a bottle of Full Proof for $49.99. Not normal I just lucked out. I notice I am hesitant to drink them knowing I’ll never pay secondary prices for them.
Nah gotta drink it up and just enjoy!
So far I've only ever seen one bottle of "Old Weller Antique 107" in person and the store that has it is asking $230 for it. Has demand for it really gotten that high, or is he asking for a price that's significantly higher than secondary?
I need to move out of state.
Special Reserve in CA starts at $100
Antique up to 250 😠
Toronto get's Weller SE and Antique in quantity a few times a year, SE retails for $40 and Antique for $65 (used to be $36, prices in CAD tax in). Weller 12 is allocated but usually not hard to get a bottle every now and then ($56). All of them are worth retail but not a penny more. Weller got me into bourbon originally and is a great entry bottle but not worth the hype these days IMO.
Picked up a bottle of the red a couple of years ago in a regular grocery store since it was there, and I never ran across them before and it was like 60 bucks (I'm in the tax haven of Washington state...) Just the other day I saw one in a liquor store here in Tacoma WA and they want 400 bucks for it!!! 😂
Chicago Burbs - SR is tough to find, comes in and goes out quick. Binny's sometimes has it for decent price I'm told but most liquor stores, you'll be in the $40 range. Very tough to find 107 or Full Proof. Ohio people send some love this way, we'll send you Portillo's.
That's a fair deal on the 107 trade
I've accepted the fact that I can only buy Weller Antique 107, 12-Year and Full Proof only online (and I gladly overpay for them). What I can't accept is the fact that the 12-Year is by far the most expensive of those three. I'll pay $200 for Antique 107 all day long. It's better than the 12-Year and nearly as good as the Full-Proof.
Weller is getting rare in Texas. Even the special reserve. Used to be everywhere now it’s starting to get scarce in some areas
Cause they're making 12 other things in the Weller line now
I love the Special Reserve. I live in New England area... the LOWEST I've seen it is $35. I've also seen it for $120.
One year later 12yr $270 in Ca $350 fp the white label $799 Crazy 😜 for a year later .
Ausome video 🥃🥃cheers
When I lived in Texas a few months ago I could get the Weller SR for 23.99 all day any day
Reminds me of hearing some say they would never pay more than $2 for a pack of cigarettes or a gallon of gas.
Weller Special Reserve in Tennessee is running $60 to $80 per 750ml
It's fun to revisit these what would you pays. Secondary has almost doubled on alot of these 😳
Just seen a 107 for $150 today.
Just saw a 107 for 199 in a store today actually
@@BourbonJunkies i’m guessing none of bought an OWA today 😂
up to the part about the 107...I think we need an update to this video
Weller 12 my favorite wheater in RI never on shelf for retail, secondary 299
Just paid $70 for it in CT and that was a steal! I’ll buy a case for $25 per if you can send it to me.
The store closest to me has special reserve for 199. I didn’t even ask about OWA after hearing that price. Gotta love SC
Always nice seen a bottle at 10x
I watched someone pay $80 for a Weller Special Reserve (Green Label) at a small liquor store in Yorkville, IL on January 18th 2021. He thought it was the last one, but when he left, the owner pulled one out from under the counter & put it on the shelf in it's place
Yikes
@@BourbonJunkies and i got one for $30 about 2 weeks ago from Binnys
Nice Throwback Thursday clip near the end there. Dan: You said WLW is 2nd, which BTAC would you pay the most for?
ER17 is his favorite
I’m team Sean w/ 107. Just recently scored the new Weller Single Barrel from Ohio lottery. If you guys are good boys, I might have to send you a sample if you haven’t tried it yet.
Side note: are you doing the December advent calendar again?
We are, it is currently being populated by patreons
Can you recommend any good stores in TX ( Dallas is definitely not a good place to buy these - today I was asked 200 for antique and 50 for special reserve - I didn’t buy )
RI , SR when it’s on the shelf 39, secondary up to 125
What's the stave make up #'s on the back of that Makers Store Pick Dan?
Wow... prices here on Long Island start at double your retail prices :( Special Reserve 50-90, Antique 90-250, Weller 12 200-500, CYPB 500-1000, Full Proof 500-1000
Hard pass at those prices.
Ben Taublib drink makers mark barrel proof or larceny full proof with that money . Don’t waste on weller
In Maryland with privataly owned stores= Weller SR is at least double retail. And most stores might get 4-5 bottles a year.
No one's missing a thing not buying SR
I see the buffalo trace products more often in the Delaware area if your looking...
But the prices are at atrocious
Y’all’s secondary prices are hilarious 😂
Got a bottle of WLW for $130 over Christmas. Still haven’t opened it. Waiting till I can share it with friends who will appreciate it :-)
Yea that's a hitter of a bottle.
Got my Weller full proof store pick for 99.00 today. Had to come home and watch a vid on it.
we've had around 4 now, and still prefer the blended off the shelf bottle the most still
Picked up a bottle of SR in Dallas last week for 20 dollars.
Yeah it depends I'm also in Dallas, I've seen them as low as $19.99 and as high as $32.99 for the 750s
Do you have a secondary contact that you recommend?
They were selling wellers 12 in san diego for $299 at this hipster store.
Best, most perfected, INTRO EVER!!!
Weller Special Reserve is all over the place in Oklahoma. There is a larger liquor store in town that has about 10 bottles for $21.99. They also have 1.75. Should I buy several?
If you like it, other than that I'd say meh.
@@BourbonJunkies I love it, but I just bought one. Easy to find here.
Love this serious keep it going.
shiznit! Weller special reserve in a store that i usually go to in NYC is $79.99, Antique 107 is $94.99.
Ouch
I've seen one bottle of this in my area. Local store wanted $65.
Would love to see this updated for 2022
Weller full proof store pick in MS for $180. Debating getting it now. I know alot of the allure of Weller is the exclusivity. Thoughts on pulling the trigger? Cannot try before hand.
We'd pass, the best Weller full proof we've had is a non store pick. You'll be happier buying $180 in other bourbon
@@BourbonJunkies Thank for the response guys! Yea Same vendor has a 15yr KCSB pick that is delicious going for $65 that i've bought before and in a blind i seriously doubt the WFP would be three times better.
Just paid $90 at my neighborhood store (Long Island, NY) for special reserve. They’re charging $200 for 107.
Store by me had the special reserve for $100 and the 107 for $120. Had to laugh
I haven't found a bottle of reserve for less than 75 in a month
@@seppallerberger9991 damn. Bought bottles this week for 35 and 43
@@johnlangdonrumph8854 hook a guy up! Litteraly just bought a 1L bottle for $100 and cant find a bottle of Blantons for less than $150😢. I live in bourbon country and can't even buy what i want anymore.
They are selling the Special Reserve for a 100 in my area. That’s if you can even find it.
about 7 years ago i use to sell 2 cases of the special reserve to a guy every couple of weeks. I once had a pappy 20 in my hands at a store for $75 and decided not to buy it there was a whole shelf full. these bourbons are not any better today its all just based on supply and demand. I could go on and on with these should have bought it stories I once passed on a macallen gran reserva 18 for $200 it now trades for over $6000. point is trust your palate the price is only based on demand
$60 for OWA? Secondary in Illinois is $200. Sheesh I’m coming to where you guys are lol
This was a year ago
these are great to watch now with the prices 🤣
special reserve in NYC, I'm paying $54.99 before tax!
Yeah I can't find the stuff and when I do it's like $75
Yup, San diego is $65-$70
I live in MD and started checking bourbons lately, I've only seen 107 for $150 :(
Great video. I can't stand the hype and thus scarcity that the Weller line has obtained out here in California, its really hurting the true bourbon drinkers. That being said I'm glad you guys talk up Larceny, I think it's the best bourbon for price, availability and definitely taste out there.
Larceny is a great bourbon! 😁
I have an extra bottle of WLW in CA. Will be a grand though
