Love the cask strengths. Also, the regular Pipe Dream is a great everyday drinker and around $30 it’s a go to bottle for me to take to a party, especially for folks new to bourbon. Always a big hit. Thanks for the videos, SLB family.
Just wanted to say I stumbled upon the channel a couple weeks ago because I was looking for help to get into bourbon. You guys have been a great help and I love all the content. I live about 45 minutes south of Chicago so I have access to a lot of the stuff you talk about it. Keep having fun guys!
Consider a "reference" bottle you like of "low/med cost" (wt101, EW bib, Jim beam, ect.) To taist against as you explore more expensive bottles so you can keep a "start point" in mind. Wt101 is my reference and still my most frequent pour.

Completely agree with @johnnycampbell, down to and including WT101. It really helps to have an “anchor pour” you like, and it needn’t be costly - there’s plenty of good, reasonably priced bourbon and rye out there. And while we’re here regular Redwood Empire Lost Monarch at around $40.00 is GREAT stuff!
It’s been fun to watch the transformation of this channel bringing Trenton on screen. You guys have a great dynamic and it just adds to the great content. Loved the ending, had me smiling 🤣

Eedwood Empires Grizzly Beast is pretty good too but their 14 yr Haystack Needle can't be beat.
I blinded batch 2 Grizzly against EHT Single Barrel and it was dead even.
No idea they even had these releases! Sound fabulous!

Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa has both the Emerald Giant cask strength and the Pipe Dream cask strength. Just picked them up today.
Did you get youth notes on these? I have a hard time with Craft due to the youth notes. Old Elk is really hard for me to enjoy.

Providing quality review experience as always; first one I've seen on these.. Been lucky to try the BiB Rye and Bourbon (this is second year for these releases to my knowledge). Been looking forward to chance to try these (believe this is first year of cask strength releases). Exciting to see a new distillery growing their offerings while maintaining a relatively large distribution footprint.
I love Redwood Empire. Emerald Giant is the most Rye forward Rye I have ever had. I asked my local B&M to order the Lost Monarch for me because I heard it was great and I was not disappointed. I will have to look for these Cask Strength now.
Hey guys, love the channel! Love the relationship you two have it's awesome. I've only had the regular lost monarch, but for that price it's phenomenal. I haven't seen any other in my area, hoping to get my hands on each bottle in the new year.
Love Redwood Empire. Can’t wait to try Lost Monarch cask strength edit to add it’s hard to find around Grand Rapids as well. I will say I’m a scotch guy but if I’m not drinking scotch I’m reaching for lost monarch first. Love it.

Since watching this video before I've added the Grizzley Beast batch 3, Lost Monarch Barrel Proof, and Pipe Dream cask str to my collection (in addition to the standard bottles). The Grizzley Beast is just incredible but it is an expensive bottle. Of all the bottles my favorite sipper is the standard Lost Monarch. I can sip Lost Monarch all night without getting slammed. For $30 you really can't beat Lost Monarch.
That said... the Grizzley Beast is absolutely one of the best bottles in my collection and possibly the best BIB bourbon I own.... but again it's $80-100 in my area and that's crazy steep for a 5 year BIB. If they could get the Grizzley Beast down to $50 I would argue it's the best BIB for your dollar.
Congrats on getting these new releases so early. Redwood Empire has a lot of good stuff. Their BIB labels are Grizzly Beast and Rocket Top. I can't wait to find the Lost Monarch cask strength!!

Great mint/rye tasting note on the Lost Monarch. That is important for people to know before they drop the funds for a bottle. I get that same tasting note on Four Roses SB Select. Great video!
Have you guys tried the Angels envy finish in Caribbean rum Cassis yet? That stuff tastes exactly like drinking maple syrup it’s insane!

I just got the Rye whiskey (Emerald Giant) and paid a little over $70. I am very happy with this whiskey! It drinks like a lower proof and is a pleasurable drinking experience start-to-finish! The proof hits gradually, like it's in stealth-mode! Because I love a good high-proof rye, this is a definite "Buy This Again"!

the 2 BIB's are completely different expressions than these 3. they are their own distillate compared to the 3 core offerings which have traditionally been sourced MGP.
BIB is not the same expressions. I have both Rocket Top and Grizzly Beast #1, they recently released batch #2
I’ve had the Rye, straight, and bourbon whiskies, but not the cask strength. I really like their Rye and straight. The bourbon was okay.
I haven’t send the cask strength but you can find the rest, even BIB, in Texas easily. Hoping to find the cask strength soon.
We found a bottle of Redwood Empire Pipe Dream cask strength tonight and it's "On Point" just as ya'll said! Great recommendation. 👍

They are $69.99 and available on SipWhiskey as of yesterday morning. I got a mixed case coming. I've been looking forward to that Lost Monarch Cask Strength for months. I love Lost Monarch, it's my #1 daily drinker.

If I want to find an emerald giant, regular bottle from here…. 1 hour drive, tour the store that has it, then an hour drive home…. Good basic rye and I love it but hard to motivate the work in the local market
Shoot you made me want to get the emerald giant so bad. I’ve been looking for a rye to compete with a Willett 4 year rye bottle I had that’s gots unique heavy dill, spearmint, spice but have yet to find a contender. Need that funk..

What perfect timing for you guys to come out with this video. These were just released today online for ordering direct. Less than 10 hours later they're all sold out! Was able to snag one bottle though.
It's great to see how Redwood Empire is expanding their selection and I'm glad you guys thought so highly of all three cask strength expressions. It'll be interesting to see what they are able to put out in 2-5 years.

I would love you see a comparison between the regular and cask strength. A friend of mine found and picked up the Grizzly Beast BIB. I am really hoping to find these cask strength offerings!
I see the regular bottles now and again and pick them up as needed, but cast strength.... count me in! Hopefully I can find them when they get released!

The Pipe Dream is phenomenal. Just ordered a backup. Haven't tried the other two yet but as a Californian I'm really excited about what Redwood Empire is doing. The BIB seems a little steep on the price but I may pull the trigger on it too. Love seeing these on your channel!
Never saw Redwood Empire in Jersey, but lately I’ve seen them in 3 different stores, so hopefully they are increasing their distribution

Looks really good. I have a few Redwood Empire bourbons and rye's and really love them, especially for the price point. They have been pretty available in the Chicagoland area for a couple years. Hope I can find these offerings.

Watching episodes I missed. I have not seen any of the cask strength until today. I saw the Emerald Giant Cask Strength for $80. Not into rye too much, so I passed.
I can only find the Pipe Dream at 90 proof, I have become a huge fan of this bourbon, it’s priced in my budget at $32.00 bucks.
Just noticed this, but the Cask Strength versions of Pipe Dream and Emerald Giant list wheat, but the standard releases do not. Interesting.
I was lucky enough to find a bottle of pipe dream and Emerald giant at my local store today so I came back to see what you guys thought. I’m popping them both this weekend! 🎉
I got a bottle of Monarch for $65. I haven’t cracked it open yet. But after watching this Im going to bring this bottle to the Christmas Party.
I was able to get the basic lineup in NC before moving but having checked for them specifically here in AL. I venture over to GA for better selection periodically and will have to keep an eye out for the BiB and Cask Strength releases. I didn't care too much for the Pipe Dream (was ok to me) but would certainly try a BiB or CS version and really enjoyed The Lost Monarch and would absolutely try those versions of it.
Strange that they are distilled in four different states; California,Indiana,Kentucky, & Tennessee but all bottled in California

The one we cant get here in Louisiana is Lost Monarch. The others are on the shelf from time to time. I have been wanting to get my hands on LM for quite a while now. Now yall having me wanting the cask strength on all these lol. Great job again guys.
I promise I have bottles that I love the "neck pour" then hate it and one I don't then do. Some I love both. Personal observation. Once you get into cask strength. Everything else tastes like water.

being more of a kurt palate just had the lost monarch cask strength but I despised rye whisky and high rye bourbon hate the pepper hate the licorice but i have to say this is sooo good no pepper no licorice just some refreshing mintiness at the end in my opinion. so if you dont like rye i would still try this you might be surprise. thanks slb always great videos and tasting notes thanks to you I have found great whiskies
Lost Monarch has a permanent spot in my rotation. That Mint note comes through subtly for me, but much more pronounced if I have another pour prior to it. There are a few bottles here and there in MI, but sporadic in distribution. Mine have come from the Chicagoland area. Great review and I can't wait to give these a try.........when I can find one!
I’m in NorCal, by the way, which I suppose helps a lot with availability. Hope to visit their distillery one day.
Everything of redwood empire I've had has been good. Never seen the cask strength locally so hopefully I'll see it on the shelves soon.

The standard Lost Monarch was go to bottle this summer. I just think it’s a really good whiskey. I’m very interested in the cask strength version, don’t know if I’ll ever see or get to taste it but I can hope. Cheers

In CA here and the basic lineup is everywhere. Emerald giant is my favorite rye besides willet 4 years.
I actually just bought both bottle in bond releases batch 2 from their website at $99 each.
Haven’t tried the rye yet, but the bourbon tasted young and meh to me. Not really worth $99 per bottle for a 5 year. I’m sure it will get better as they hit 6-8 years old.
Haven’t seen the cask strength yet but definitely keeping an eye out.

So…we don’t get Redwood Empire in Pennsylvania. I went to se show to purchase online and I was not able to for some reason. The site wouldn’t take me to a purchase screen. I can say that these Cask Strengths are not yet listed on their website…and I could not get prices for ANY of their products from that same site.
The RW empire folks sent these to us so they are not out quite yet but coming very soon!
You guys would be really missing out if you don’t get your hands on a bottle of Kirkland brand single barrel 120 proof by Barton 1792 it’s a full liter bottle for $29.99 👍
