I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. We are buried under snow and looking forward to spring. Do not get me wrong as the winter snow scenery is spectacular. This is the first video I saw on your channel as a new subscriber. A sunflower! A beacon of hope, love and solidarity. Thank you. .

Hi JoAnn, l love the different seasons and always hope for a blanketing of snow each winter. Last time my wish was granted was 2012.
I’m happy to hear the sunflower has brought some glow into your beautiful snowscape. Have fun with the videos. Sue

@@SueSmithGlassMosaics Our last snowstorm here was 15 inches over a couple of days. Lots of shoveling while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Your work is so beautiful and your videos make it look so doable. Thank you so much for spreading your passion.

I know you have done this hundreds of times but do you see this in your mind’s eye? Everything you do is with such beauty. Do you or did you follow a photo at one time? Do you study flowers? I’m in awe of your talent.

Hi Jeanne, I am awfully nature nosey so look carefully at plants, bugs, flowers etc., but everything I do is straight from my head, no photos unless I need to study a flower. The only time I would do a sketch first is if it were for a client who requested one. I usually have it planned in my mind before I start. .
      Thank you.

Sherie Rodrigues Hello Sherie, thank you and you’re very welcome. The whole course would have been uploaded long before now if I could get a decent internet signal.... but they are on their way. I’m so pleased you’re finding them useful and very happy tiger to hear enjoying them. I am happy to help at any time of you have questions. You can find all my contact details on my webpage. I once had a lady start my course when she was 82 and made beautiful pieces for her garden. Learning anything new can be quite frustrating to begin with but just keep practising, it’s worth it in the end. I hope you’re keeping well during this very difficult time, stay safe, Sue 🙂🌈

    Excellent demo
    I am a real newbie
What or how do you actually do the mosaic
Or what video would you suggest I watch
    Thank you

Hi Carolyn, This is part of a series of 19 videos. It shows you in part one about tools & materials going right through to 19 on how to clean your Mosaic when you’ve finished making it. If you watch the whole series it will explain everything to you step-by-step. I use mirror as a backing but you don’t have to, you can use any preferred base you just need to change the adhesive to suit. if you have questions don’t hesitate to ask, I’m happy to answer them,….. if I can. Sue

As usual, lovely video Sue. Just love, love your work. You make cutting and putting together a breeze. I spend so much time filing down the sharp edges. Not any more. The taping technique is very helpful. I watch all your videos. I live in NZ and am making a small mosaic for my mum who lives in the UK, and I’ve used your technique on some of the pieces, so hopefully it will turn out ok.

I’m so pleased your finding these useful. One good thing about Mosaic is the grout covers all of the sharp pieces, so no more grinding. Whereabouts does your mum live in the UK? My old assistant who worked on the large flower ball with me is in NZ, not able to continue travelling at present so I’ve just sent her a set of tools, hoping she’ll get back into it.

@@SueSmithGlassMosaics Hi Sue. My mum lives in Islington. We left the UK beginning 2005, and haven’t been back yet. My mum has visited us many times, but prefers living in the UK. We were going to visit her this year, but hard to tell when we can. I live in the Bay of Plenty region, but will be moving up north in a year or so. When you next visit NZ, we could catch up if it’s not too far from us. We could exchange contact details then.

Not this one because it is on mirror but you can use the same process for clear glass instead of mirror.

Where did you find the mirrors you use?? Mirrors are expensive!
