As a former teacher, I thought Alexis would find this interesting. The Hot for Teacher video is a rock classic off of the Van Halen album 1984. If this video were made today, it would not go over very well in some circles because of the subject matter. Both Alexis and Burch tell funny stories about their experiences as a teacher and a student respectively.

I swear the 80's was the BEST time to grow up. The music, the movies, MTV, the fashion. We had it all! Before the internet, before social/unsocial media, before these electronic leashes (mobile phones) that track your every movement, before 24 hour news, before reality tv... just be yourself, make your way the best you can and live life.

After David Lee Roth left Van Halen for the first time, he went to school to become an EMT. For several years he was an EMT in New York City. Whenever I see this video and DLR as the driver of that school bus, I always wondered what it would have been like to be a pedestrian in NYC who tripped on a curb, broke their leg, and when the ambulance arrived: out jumps David Lee Roth? I probably would have just had a heart attack and died!

" I always wondered what it would have been like to be a pedestrian in NYC who tripped on a curb, broke their leg, and when the ambulance arrived: out jumps David Lee Roth?"
In that scenario I'd be asking myself,..(Wait, am I in a video?)

Well not quite. After VH, he had a very successful solo career with his first 3 albums going platinum, not counting his cover album "Crazy from the heat, which he did as soon as he left VH. He didn't become an EMT until the late 90s.

I was born in 1973, and when this came out, we watched this video every day until MTV stopped showing it. Lillian Müller, who was Miss Norway, played the teacher in this, and she was also in Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" video a few years before this. She is now 72 and still looks great for her age. Also, in 1991 I saw Van Halen in concert at 18 years old and they were amazing! Cheers from northeast Ohio.

The "Hot Teacher" in my life ended up being my wife's maid of honor. "That Teacher" married one of the high school football stars a couple of years after graduation. It was quite the scandal early on, but people got over it. Very relatable song and brought back memories from 1975 for me when I heard it upon its release in 1984.

@@flickeringboxofficial I………remember those times with a big smile on my face. In 1980 I was in MS in my country and had a crush with two teachers Languages and Biology 🧬 some teachers wore tie pants or jeans 👖. The female teachers knew when the boys were too distracted looking at her and the reaction could be a smile or you could hit with a ruler 📏 in the head.
Were those times when you could dream and dream with someone without any problems. I remember seeing many young girls “ dreaming” and salivating the Physics Education teacher and every one of us knew that was NORMAL and the teacher response to them was in the same way. And when we tried to laugh he seriously was telling us “ time to grow up boys”
I’m telling you those times were way back and I’m sure that never never come back.
There’s another song that you could react is “ Don’t stand so close to me “ by The Police

It was barely legal lol (I was 17 - legal in my state - she was 34) and since we were streetwise older than our age, knew it was just for fun for a short time. It was fairly common occurrence with juniors and seniors. In my class of 54 people, there were 4 of us guys in 1983-1984 that had sex with a teacher. lol. I was in 8th grade when this came out & wad a bit of a troublemaker. Our math teacher was going on vacation for a week. She told us all (me specifically) that any detentions we got from the sub would be doubled when she got back. First day of the sub, me and my friend unintentionally walked into class a minute late. When called out on that, the thought just randomly popped into my head, completely unplanned. I turned to look up at the clock, turned back to the sub and said, Aw man, I think the clock is slow. I don't feel tardy. The entire class busted out laughing. Detention #1. Later in the class the sub asked a question and, I guess following my lead, my friend Roberto raised his hand. When called on, instead of answering the question, he said, I brought my pencil. Now give me something to write on man. Again, everyone laughed. I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair. Detention #2 for both of us and #3 for leaving my chair. Doubled up, I got 6 detentions on the first day of the substitute just because an awesome Van Halen song popped into my head at a perfectly fitting time.

I had Ms. Gluyass in 1st grade and then had her again in 4th grade as Mrs. Ferris. She resembled Farrah Fawcett, blonde feathered hair and all. I told my dad about her and how hot she was and later learned he pursued it with her. I don’t know to what extent fully, but didn’t really come as a shock and cracked me up. When I was in high school I never had a teacher that even came close for me to consider as hot! Figures. 😂

Burch, the intro drum solo is Alex doing a simulated V8 engine...a high performance, big cam loop (or chop) as the kids say today engine.

@@lilorbielilorbie2496 I was gonna be more specific and mention Funny Car...but figured most wouldn't have a clue. I agree with you, sounds like NHRA Funny car to me as well.

Music is selective to the ears of they're own interpretation, so it's all good, I get it, you do you! However, whether y'all get a vibe of Alex's drum intro sounding like an NHRA top fuel car, which does have a similar sounding effect in a way. But, where Alex & even Eddie to a certain extent came up with the whole idea of the intro to this song was a tune by "Billy Cobham." Do yourself a favor & go check out a tune off "Billy Cobham Spectrum" LP called "Quadrant 4," it's the opening track off the LP. Give it a listen & tell me what y'all think. 🤔 Just saying... +Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Souls My Friends+ 🤘😜🤘

Nuno was right about Eddie being 70s, so way far back. Truth was the '80s guys had not even started really when Eddie was already doing it, but yet he is the sound of the 80s. And he had these (Nuno's crazy word for complicated but simple) simplistic yet complicated riffs, that you remember, and that still differed from anyone in the 80s. Nothing like him, because he was so much of 80s guitar, but in the late 70s even. 80s guitar was based on him
Fun song too, but again very swing still even in regular timing. That was another thing about him was his swingy feel, like the one take human feel to the recordings.

I was right there with Burch here. I was 12 when this came out in 1984. It was right up my alley. Even then, I knew it was all in good fun. I had two hot teachers that year, and that was the first year of having fantasies watching the teacher. The after reaction here threw me off. Alexis experienced 4th grade boys being filthy, and Burch was surprised! Yes, boys are sexually filthy at a young age. I was so lucky to be that age, in the golden age of MTV.

You guys should check out some Elvis Presley! His version of bridge over troubled water and unchained melody are great. If you’re gonna do the young stuff you should do blue suede shoes 🤟🎸👍
