One of the greatest ballads of the 80s, Still Loving You by the Scorpions has been a fan favorite since it debuted in 1984. In this Alexis and Burch get into a spirited conversation about the necessity and purpose of mix tapes. Scorpions were a true radio and concert staple through the 70s, 80s and 90s.

wow 14 in 84-85 lol now I feel old I Graduated in 1983.
Matthias Jabs joined the band around 1980 he's the main guitarist Rudy was there from the start when they still had Rudy's brother Michael Schenker and Jon Uli Roth 2 massively great guitarists Michael went onto UFO and also MSG (McAuley Schenker Group then Michael Schenker Group)
Just as I was about to send a tender tribute to Alexis for her humor and witty presence,
Now I find out she is as no nonsense as my daughters who are in their 30s ,
I guess my reaction now is / I enjoy this channel, great chemistry and just to say , I would never have sent a song or almost anything else to a woman that was in the rear view, lol
Way to many more available,
Great channel
Klaus is one of the few vocalists that, for me, can live comfortably in Dio's category. The guy's amazing.
Definitely one of the best power ballads EVER 🤘🏽❤️🔥🤘🏽❤️🔥🤘🏽
My best friend and I loved this song 💕 I just lost her last month she was only 59 😥 damnit I miss her but we will meet again someday 🙏 we were best friends for nearly 46 years
I am so sorry to hear that itchyandred. There are no words that can really help the pain and loss but just know that we are here for ya.
@@flickeringboxofficial thank you it's been rough for sure ✌️
@@itchyandred4131my mom passed in my arms a few years ago after organ failure. I know first hand what you are going thru. It’s rough at times but what helps me cope is keeping busy. Your loved one wouldn’t want you to be sad. They want you to celebrate the good times and that’s what I do knowing that someday we will reunite.
@@mrprfct7069 thank you for your kind words ✌️
Wish you and those close to you nothing but the best. Stay safe and remember the good times.
The power ballad that all ballads strive to be.
First she snaps your mix tape, and THEN she blows out your lighter... she really is on a SAVAGE streak today ;) Great choice for Scorpions. It's my #2 Scorpions song, with Wind of Change being #1 and the version with the Berlin Philharmonic being the best.
Scorpions and Rammstein. The 2 best Musicexports from Germany. Love your channel👍. Greetings from Germany
Scorpions was huge in the mid to late 80’s ! 🔥👍
They still are, just not in the US where its Pop and Hip hop
@@larrytomovich8436 - Scorpions had been Germany's biggest music export for a looong time - until fricken Rammstein appeared on the scene!
@@mightyV444 Don't forget Milli Vanilli....yeah, thanks Germany😳🤣
Early 80s too with The Zoo and No One Like You. No One Like You was huge back in the day.
@Mayet - 🙈 😅
Such a glorious song. The beginning of the power-chord era, spectacular lyrics, and the guitar fills from Mathias are soooooo good. My favorite Scorp's tune. Great post. And thanks for reminding me that teenage girls are heartless. LOL.
And that album cover was banned due to being too proactive lol,I wish I still had that copy
@@jeffgossard1451thankfully not in Germany😂
Thier guitarist Michael shenker is completely amazing too as a matter of fact Kirk hammet the guitarist from metalica was know to fangirl over him
That whole orbit of musicians was spectacular
@@flickeringboxofficial amen brother
Michael Schenker is actually not the scorpions guitar player but he did play guitar for them during their first album in 1972 and did some work on their 1979 album lovedrive, his brother Rudolf Schenker, and Matthias Jabs has always been the main guitarists, Rhythm and Lead, for the Scorpions.
@@michaeleverett2650 that's correct
If I could sing like that it's hard to believe She wouldn't come back
A girl bought me this album.....still got the album ... I haven't got the girl....but I still love the album and this song. Great vid guys.
Scorpions are one of my favorite bands. Never had a tape snapped in half..had one sent back with all the tape pulled out.
Oooooohhhhh, that is cold as ice Jeffrey. Damn...
@@flickeringboxofficial yes foreigner was on there but not that song... LOL 😂
I'm glad you played the full version of the song. I feel sorry for kids today (under 30) the sh*t they think today is good music.
The band formed in 65, but the lineup we all really know was together from 78-92.
One of the best guitar solos ever IMHO 🎸
Thank you for react to the true version and not the shortcutted radio version. One of the greatest rock ballads ever.
Love this song....klaus Meine is still killing it
I saw The Scorpions live. They were the definition of professional musicians. They sounded exactly like the studio. Perfection. This was in 1988.
Women: Break a gift of a mix tape/mans heart.
Also women: Why cant men express their emotions?
Incredible live band. Got to see them in Germany for savage amusement tour in '88. Changed my life forever!!!
#1 rock Ballard of all time, the blueprint
The reason why your reaction channel is one of my favorites is that you’re able to put the music, songs and bands in context for her to properly understand before listening to the songs. It makes a big difference to know who/what the band is, at what point in their careers they are, what they meant to the particular music scene at the time, etc.. Looking forward to more!
Agreed and their personalities jive so well... even though Burch is ancient and Alexis is a "kid". No offense, I'm ancient too... though I call myself "aged reserve".
@@Mike_H76 I tell people that while I'm not over the hill I certainly can see the top of it, lol.
Sitting hours in front of the radio, for 1 song, then miss it or DJ talks over it.
I’m 53 and used to send love cassette’s in the 80’s 🥰🤘🏽
1 of my favorite songs.
Klaus does play on a few tracks live- just to add some extra texture. (Coast to Coast, is, I believe, one of those) But, with Rudy and Matthias, you really don't need to, lol. If you're interested, Alexis, they have a live album out from this time period called World Wide Live that's fantastic! They really brought the heat, live.
Yes he played Coast to coast in live and also played solo Follow your heart on MTV unplugged.
That Band is still very good! The first Song that I've heard from the Scorpions was 'Wind Of Change' as a Teenager in 1990! And all the other songs as an adult...
Ahhhhhhhh my teenage self in the early 80's... My first ever concert was the Scorpions.. amazing band..great memories.
On the release of the 50th Anniversary edition Klause Meine mentions this song is loved in France and went to number 1 there. He also says, ' The birthrate in France 9 months after the release of this song rose dramatically".
Growing up in the 80's and actually living in what was then WEST Germany, their song 'Wind Of Change' was absolutely ICONIC and for me will always be synonymous with the ending of the Cold War, and the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the reunification of Germany they are after all, a German band.
They performed in 1999 at the 10th year anniversary celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
I remember spending hours recording songs off the radio brings back memories
It's a timeless masterpiece!
i saw them 9 times and they put on a great show!!!
I saw them in concert in the early 2000's with Dokken and Whitesnake. It was a great show all around and they all sounded just as good as back in the day.
I also saw them together with Dokken and Whitesnake. Will always cherish that memory
Boy she's a tuff one Burch. Had me in stitches that was too funny!!
That makes us really happy Ronald, thank you!
Scorpionsworld wide live is so great
Saw them 1988 Monsters of rock Foxboro MA. Sounded so good, as if you just dropped the needle on the record! Totally AWESOME Dude!
Awesome cool song, seen them 3 r 4 times yay 🤘😆🤘🎤🎸🥁
I really enjoy watching the younger kids react to music from my time. You have to give Alexis a taste of Damn Yankees Come Again. Tommy Shaw's voice is amazing and the song is a true rock jam. Keep up the great work.
I absolutely agree 100%. Great song from the best super group ever!
Thank God you reacted to the album version and not the edited, shortened version. Soooooo many react to the edited version.
One of my favorite songs! ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Best sounding live Band
Always love this song. The guitar is just wonderful, especially on the outro. It's beggin', pleadin' and weeping. You can feel that kinda of energy.
Fell in love with Doro the first time I heard her voice in Warlock, and my heart stopped the first time I saw her in a video for All We Are, So beautiful, and my cousin met her and they became aquaintances "supposedly" hanging out when they were New York at the same time but would never let me meet her.
The guitarist who did the solo is Matthias Jabs. He replaced Michael Schenker after the later left to pursue his own solo career. Michael's brother Rudolf is a founder and still is a member of the Scorpions but he is more of a rhythm type of player. All of them are great in my books😊
Saw the Scorpions at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Baltimore Md great live band!!
Thank you thank you for doing the Scorpions. Especially Still Loving You. Klaus has a amazing voice. He is not respected except for the rock world. He doesn’t play guitar. You definitely should try Wind of Change with the video
While stationed in upstate New York in the army I went to my first concert. It was 1984, Rochester, NY. and the concert was Bon Jovi opening for the Scorpions. Great concert!
Truly one of the great voices of rock and no he doesn't play guitar.
Been to Klaus Meines 60ts birthday. I was working, i was not a guest. Great humble guy, great band, super chilled and friendly. All of them. :D I love that you play a Band from my small hometown Hannover.
One of my top five bands of that era.
Holy Crap! This was my go-to song in the 80's and still brings a tear to my eye when I hear it. So many breakups. Such a powerful song. Alexis is such a gorgeous girl and her describing her recount of how she rejected men by swiping left or simply destroying a suitor's tape in an instant without any second thought reminds me of how a cat plays with a mouse and the mouse is in dire peril and about to be eaten and she is thoroughly enjoying it. Burch's reaction to the song is more in line with how I feel when I hear it and seems very authentic. Keep up the good work, you two.
Great classic rock band and I love it.....❤
Always loved this song but my favorite of theirs is “Is There Anybody There” from the Love Drive album. The lyrics are amazing and the music is very unique.
Scorpions were sooo good!
It's one of my favorite bands
and to think.. these guys wrote what is arguably the best love song of the 80's and did it in their 2nd language..
I was riding my bike in NH in the 80s and I spotted a cassette tape on the side of the road. I picked it up, it was Love at First Sting! A lot of tape was hanging out and mangled, but I was able to repair it and save a few songs from each side, including this one! 😊 After all of these years, I can't believe how wrong I was on the lyrics (this is the first time I have really focused on the words)😂
I saw TRIXTER, GREAT WHITE, and SCORPIONS 🦂 at Hampton Virginia Coliseum when I was in the USN, 91 😊
ONLY band I've ever heard live that sound EXACTLY like the album
am german rock band from Hannover, Germany :)
I saw them live last year!
I''m of a similar age to you, Burch. That was brutal from Alexis about the mix tape! 😂 Loved the Scorpions back then, Blackout was the album introduction for me.
I Appreciate you americans enjoying music from Germany just like we in Germany love music from america
Saw them live on this tour and to this day one of the best live performances I have ever seen.
This song is EPIC
Such a classic

I wrote this as a poem to a girl that broke up with me, and didn't know this was a song and was really moved by it. It won her over until she found out it was copied from a song and dumped me anyway! But for a brief moment this song helped me win her back temporarily! Thank you Scorpions for that small victory in my adolescence...but anyway its just an awesome song!
Scorpions still put on a great show! 🤘
Best times ever
Totally 1980's classic rock on...😊
I remember in seventh grade, I was listening to “rock you like a hurricane”. That song was on the radio every hour. Then in ninth grade, I saw the scorpions in concert. Amazing!
See them live in an old town Club in my hometown hannover, germany in the mid 1970 , leine Domizil. ❤❤❤❤
I love this band.........so many tuneful songs....not only the ballads......tuneful "tutonic" rock🤟
I am with you Burch!!! I never sent any mix tapes to ex girlfriends but snapping a high quality painfully crafted Maxell mix tape in half must be a felony offense somewhere. I just kept my mix tapes and played them until the oxide failed or the tape broke. That is a whole separate level of breakup!!! By the way, I would call this a power ballad. I think that was a creation of the 80s.
You 2 are awesome....So open ...relaxing to watch..knowledge-based. Nice pick Love Scorpions..grew up on them..Cheers from Nova Scotia Canada 🇨🇦 eh!!!!
We love the Scorpions in the Annapolis Valley (or at least I do). Bluenosers rock!
Omigosh, y'all are so dang funny!😂 The cultural differences are so stark...I wouldn't survive today lol, gimme my 80s back.Times today are just too weird (vampire diaries, wth is that?) & Ithink that decadewas the last of the romantic era in music. Scorpions are just fantastic, so talented & what longevity! Very few have the unique attention getting vocals of Klaus Mein. So many really excellent songs in their catalog, one of the best rock bands of the 80s. I hope you keep going down this boulevard of phenomenal musicianship.
Another time you'd hear "Still Loving You" is when you're playing the album, doing anything at all, no matter how busy you are, and you stop in your tracks when it comes on (It's the last song), and just lose yourself. Uh, and maybe cry a little. (Hard to believe I'm a 59-year-old male sometimes).
You guys are great !! Love your honesty ...exactly !! Great job guys
You guys are hilarious with the mix tape thing! Lol. Burch’s reaction is priceless! 😂😂🤣🤣.
Thanks for doing the lyric videos. First time I actually know what the words are to this song.
its the ultimate power ballad and Klaus Meine's vocals are Great. i mean incredible. Gotta Recognize the leval this song is.
LOVE you guys! LOVE that song! Alexis IS “savage”😂👍
That was pretty scary :)
Funny you mentioned All We Are. In high school that was the song that played when our school mascot was about to make an appearance to pump us up for a game.
Too wonderful!!❤❤
love the 80's, my teen years. Scorpions,
prince, Adam and the ants, ACDC, Def leopard and so much more. Love your reactions, would love a reaction to Dan Vasc, sings 80's covers in metal ,but his voice is incredible, if you do him, try Amazing grace first
Hi alexis good to see you and burch back on awsome
Thank you, great to get back to making vids....I was going crazy 😂😁
This song was the cone love song for all metal fans back then. Amazing band Scorpions!❤
The only song you will ever see Klaus pick up a guitar is for the instrumental Coast To Coast. I think next up should be No One Like You. Great reaction as always
I took my son to see Guns N’ Roses and Cinderella on a Saturday night, then we went to see scorpions the next day. It was a great open area right on the edge of Lake Tahoe. Great fun.
Wow!!! What a weekend, now that is 3 giants! Has to be such a great memory. Thank you Kevin
@@flickeringboxofficial that’s just one of the ones within the last 10 years. I was living in the San Fran Bay Area and used to go to Bill Grahams day on the green shows. A lot of the band that were mostly local did New Year’s Eve concerts where I’ve seen Y&T, night ranger, red rocker Sammy Hagar and even went to Metallica 3 times in small bars. Metallica was really new and sucked, and I walked out all 3 times. Lol. I’ve been to Y&T a couple times in the last 5 years when they came to oregon and my kids love them. Even converted a rap lover into loving rock by taking him to see Y&T.
I saw Scorpions about 15 years ago. Probably the best concert I have ever been too. It rocked harder then any concert I had been to!
Saw them 1986 Day on the Green Oakland CA. Awesome concert
My first hard rock album "Lovedrive" by The Scorpions. Still one of my favourites. The other great ballad on it is "Holyday"(very long). I think it's Michael Schenker on lead guitar.
Their two best albums for me are Lovedrive (1979) and Animal Magnetism (1980). I enjoyed listening to every song on those two. No song on them is worthy of being skipped; at least. I only got to see them Live once in 1983, and they were very good Live.
Blackout was tremendous,
No One Like You was an iconic song.
Stay Cool 😎 and…
\m/ Stay Metal \m/
I loved that one too...even bought a pair of fork "shades" someone was selling at a Flea Market. Still got my Scorpion tattoo; albeit a bit fuzzy all these years later. 🤘😄🤘
Everything in my opinion they put out before their Blackout album is killer. In Trance, Fly To The Rainbow, the aforementioned Love Drive and Animal Magnetism, Virgin Killers with the Mach II line up with Uli Jon Roth playing lead before Mathias Jabs was priceless.
Saw them in the summer of 1984 on the Love At First Sting tour ( I was 17 at the time) in Toronto, Canada 39 years ago but still one the best shows I have ever seen got 4 bands on the ticket that night I only remember 3 of the bands Canadian Rocker Helix, Quiet Riot, and one other band I want to say Kick Axe maybe and of course the headliners the Scorpions all for under 25 bucks. The band released a double live album of the 1984 world tour called World Wide Live and is one the best live albums ever released. Yes, Klaus does play he plays rhythm guitar on "Coast to Coast" as someone has said below.
This song gives me chills every time I hear it.
Scorpions, helping men for 50 years
You got that right!!!
The Zoo, Rhythm Of Love, When The Smoke Goes Down, You Give Me All That I Need. These are the ones to react too, such great lyrics vocals
The Zoo along with Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water have IMO the best guitar riffs ever.
Definitely legendary riffs... I'd like to add Rainbow's "Man On The Silver Mountain" to your list.
You could see how much Alexis enjoyed this song. Mathias Jabs played the slightly deeper toned guitar (Gibson Explorer) and Michael Schenker played the slightly higher pitch guitar (Gibson Flying V). Check into the reported rumors of a global population "Bump", 9 months after this song came out...
Excellent choice! I'd not thought about it. And yes, many mix tapes. That apparently were broken!!
OMFG, Alexis the Destroyer is in the house, "🤬 your mixtape" 😂😂 When I was in school, I couldn't make a mixtape, you can't do that with 8 track tapes 🤣🤣
My stereo in the late 70s actually had an 8-track player with a record function. So I DID make mix 8-tracks. (that, as far as I know we're never snapped in half :) )
@@scottprentice6815that's cool that your's had a record function. I was using 8 track players in the early '70's but by the late '70's I had switched from 8 tracks to cassettes. ✌️
