fuel quantity valve? u mean quantity control valve QCV. the sliding pin is dragging in the solenoid assembly causing rpm hunting, some drivers can feel that at road speed, but more noticeable at idle. we used to unplug it for a quick check- idle should smooth right out. but ddc now frowns on that practice (serious fuel pressure spike) . 90 minutes labor and

My was doing that when I bought the truck. I used FuelOx fuel catalyst and it went away while I was standing there. Hasn't done it since.

Hey Mr Fransico I have a freightliner 2013 dd13 that while running it looses derates or looses power while driving I’ve changed the pndb box on fire wall and changed full filters but still does it. Truck runs after loosing power but I loose power in the gas peddle as well. Once I stop and restart gears it will go but jerks while derating but picks up speed until I reach a hill climb or while I’m hauling heavy. Seeking possible solution to the problem thank you for your time and help

It was red but I noticed a smell off diesel by the plv fitting and it was the return fittings one was wet I tightened it and the code turned black.

Francisco Amaya + Thank you for this upload. I replaced the fuel meter valve, now the rough idle is gone. When i monitor it on dddl scanner, the rail pressure was jumping around, now it's holding steady.
Hi! I replaced qcv but it didn't stop making that noise. The fuel pressure it's going up and down. What else can cause this problem . 12 dd15
Sometimes the fuel quantity valve comes defective from factory, but also can be a bad fuel pump.
replace the fuel pump if u have alot of miles on it, if you have a 2010 2011 there is an update for the fuel filter housing i sugest u do it

Pues, en mi opinion personal, si El motor esta trabajando bien no lo toque.
Pero, es recomendado ajustar Las valvulas cada 300,000 millas y los metales can 600,000 millas.

Joe Joe i asked the mechanic he said don't push the gas pedal let it shake for 15 or 20 minutes and it will stop shaking, thats how it supposed to do and it's not bad for the truck

Buenas, compre un cascadia con un Dd15, tiene 700 millas, lo he usado 15 Dias y sin problemas, Ayer se prendieron las dos luces del checking amarillas y la roja y empezo a tirar humo blanco por el respiradero del motor, el truck corre igual temperatura y presion de aceite bien, me puede orientar mas o menos que puede ser, gracias.

try to replace the throtle valve and throtle position sensor on the acceleration fuel housing system if its an older model theres an update , and fuel pump if u have alt of miles ...it wil cost u so.e money but its worth it ..do it on your time not on the road towed away to the dealer ..then it will really cost you ALOT!!!
I have a dd15 with code high pressure fuel system to high lead down test 1077 fmi 14 confirmed,active,permanent, traditiona.l I checked all my fuel lines from rail to injectors and all around fuel system and no fuel leaks and it'asking to do a a fuel rail pressure test what I'm I looking for in these test any suggestions?

Any ideas for a 2011 cascadia with an overboost problem? Sometimes the compound turbo doesn't seem to connect with the crankshaft and it causes a boost spike.

That code means egr valve position incorrect

@@mixxes07 Did You ever find out what it is? My truck is doing the same thing only in high gears. Its sound like something is spinning or a light grinding noise when I mash the accelerator. But if I lightly press the pedal it accelerates with out making that noise.
@@andregrant2893 my dad took it to mechanic and he said he cleaned different sensors. I dont think the mechanic knows what caused the problem and just got lucky with the fix

Martin Martinez cuando el motor se escucha de esa manera reemplasa el Fuel meter.
It's a quantity control valve. Super common and a bitch to change. 2020 made it a little easier. It's not a rough idle. It's a loping idle. I wouldn't even press about it.
I just bought a 2012 113 with the dd13 in it. It does the same thing. Everybody tells me not to worry about it
@@mackie73 ya, it doesn't effect the ability to run correctly. The truck will dose fine regen fine. As far as it won't effect those items. When it fails it fails completely and will need replaced. Rarely do we replace them. I've done 4 in the last 6 years. That's saying a lot seeing how our shop maintains 900 units. More then 500 have dd engines in them. Just for a simple engine lope is not a reason to replace.

@@mackie73 it could be. I have not diagnosed your truck. A unit can lope for a few reasons. I have not hooked it up to dd to put it through any fuel tests. But when the qcv is faulty but not failed, one of the symptoms is a loping idle.
Do you need any software for changing this valve?
You need to reset the fuel quantity control valve adaptation with the DDDL software or any diagnostic tool but it is not mandatory.
In response to your question, You can replace the valve without a software.
Mines a 2011 dd13. Will any lights be on if I don’t use dddl software. Also where are you located sure would like to use you on my truck.
No, no light will come on if the job is done correctly.
Don't need to have a DDDL software to perform this job.
