    Hi there, i watched your video many time and these codes are on and off with me for the past 6 months (EEC 61/4334/07 and 4375/06) and finally i decided to fix it on my Cascadia 2014. I have no mechanical background at all, so i was a little worrisome ... So i went under the truck and unscrewed everything as you shown on video. I had everything ready, new Switch from Dealer according to my VIN number. And then it was a little surprise!!! When i puled out the Old Switch, it was half the size of the new one. It was shorter and there was small circular rubber back side wall on it. The face of the switch looks the same though....So like you said, DEF start leaking out and i took a tool and try to gently clean the socket to make sure its clean. And it was super clean, no Oil no Crystals no nothing. I quickly inspected the small (Old) Switch that i pulled out and it looked like new, clean and not blocked at all. I blew some air through it, washed it a bit and placed it back. Just in case i changed the air fitting and screwed everything back together. Then i took apart Metering Unite and cleaned it as well and mounted it back to the One Box. I stared a truck and drove for about 30 min but codes did not go away :( . I talked to some local mechanics and some of them offer to delete the whole DEF System. They scared me a bit because we are talking about 15k/20k repair, and i was hoping to rich out to you and maybe we could talk? Please let me know what do you think and if its possible to get in touch with you about my situation, if you don't mind. In any case i wanted to thank you for your videos. they help alot to understand what is what, especially for some one like me with no Trucking Mechanical Experience. Best regards

      Even if the issue was repaired, the MIL light will not go out immediately on its own. Each fault has specific conditions that must be met before the ECU gives it a Pass/Fail. It sometimes also needs to see this over multiple drive cycles before it will turn off the MIL. Like I've said in past videos, I tend to cover the more common problems but there are many others that can occur. Hopefully yours has been solved and the MIL will be going out soon.

    Would a "practical fix" for the oil problem be to install one of those painters oil/air separators between the limiter and the pump? Route the hoses to make the cup a "drain trap", and just drain it every Friday, or a similar interval?

    additionally, if the pump cuts on and off, on and off every 2-3 seconds the diaphragm may have a pin hole or for any other reason lost its pressure. remove the hex cap on the bottom and push in 45-50 psi of nitrogen. put a drop of spit on your finger and put it over the shrader valve and see if it bubbles. also if the psv has rust particles in the screen that is coming from rust in the air tanks. you need to address why the air dryer is allowing water to the air system. new air tanks, blow out lines and lots of valves. drain those air tanks every opportunity,

    The code on my DD16 is SPN 4355- FMI 5, can I get some help on how to get closer to the problem? Thanks

    • @TheDieseler
      @TheDieseler  6 років тому

      +patinoboxx That code is signaling that DEF line heater #2 is reading an open circuit. The heating element that runs through the line may have failed or there may be a broken wire in the harness between the line and the ACM. You can check for an ohm reading through the line. You should also have battery voltage on one pin from the harness and between 2.25 and 2.75 volts on the other.

    • @TheDieseler
      @TheDieseler  7 років тому +1

      I used a random Engine Serial number for an EPA10 DD15 and got these numbers. They should work but it's always best to give the dealer your VIN/ESN just to make sure you're getting the right info.
      The Filter number is A0001400594 and the Pneumatic Switching Valve number is A0001420019

    • @MIKECASTR0
      @MIKECASTR0 7 років тому

      Thank you. I tried another dealer, and they found it in a service bulletin, gave me the same part number as you did (we run EPA10 DD13) The Pneumatic Switching Valve did not correct my current issue, Pressure Limiting Valve (S9750090040) did. I didn't think it would have failed already, as I just put a new one on this unit 2 months ago. There was a lot of water that came out of the inlet though, I wonder if that damaged it.

    Could you explain code EEC 61 and eng 1 come on ?

    • @TheDieseler
      @TheDieseler  6 років тому +1

      EEC61 and ENG1 are not fault codes. They are simply identifiers. It's your Instrument cluster telling you that the Aftertreatment Controler and Engine are each broadcasting at least one fault code.

    Hey how you doing buddy I got code 4374 fmi 0 I did the def/doser kit that came with all new screens, rubber gaskets, def filter and a new valve for the pump and everything was running well then 2 days later this light came on

    • @slipzombie1
      @slipzombie1 5 років тому

      And I almost forgot it’s not sucking any more def fluid the tank is still full after a week of driving

    • @TheDieseler
      @TheDieseler  5 років тому

      It can be quite a few different issues but there's a couple of quick things you can do. First make sure all of your DEF lines are in good shape. Not pinched or kinked anywhere. Remove the supply line to the doser on the exhaust. Place it in a container of water and start the truck or, if you're able, run the ADS self check with DDDL. The DEF pump should run. Watch the container and make sure no bubbles are coming out of the line. If there are bubbles, the pump is sucking air on the inlet side. Make sure your pump electrical connections are clean and tight and have a good look at the doser connections and wiring leading to it. The DEF pressure sensor is built in the dosing unit and it's very common for the wires to chafe and corrode near the plug.

    • @TheDieseler

      Mariano Covarrubias These are regulatory/derate faults. They are not the cause of the problem. They simply become active once the problem has been ignored for too long.

      Wes Gagarin I made myself 2 ramps out of pressure-treated 2X10s. (8 ft long). Bought 4, cut 2 in half then added a 3 ft section then a 2 ft section on top of each to form ramps. I use them routinely to change oil, filter and grease. Just be sure to chock your drives when you are under truck. Cheers.

      +Mariano Covarrubias there are more codes than what you're seeing. Those are derate codes. You're most likely locked to 5mph. There are other problems that need to be addressed.

    • @TheDieseler
      @TheDieseler  7 років тому

      Again, there's nothing wrong with your throttle. The engine is derated and with no other info to go on, other than what looks like a fault code here, I would say there's a problem with the DEF tank Level/Temp sensor or the associated wiring.

    • @TheDieseler
      @TheDieseler  7 років тому +2

      That code indicates that the ACM is not reading Air Pressure at the DEF metering unit. What they're recommending is possible. The air compressor could be failing and filling the system with oil. I would have them verify that there is in fact black engine oil getting into the DEF air components (I rarely see this). It should also be present in the truck's air tanks if this is the case. If the oil does not look like engine oil but does look more like the oil you see in this video then you do not need a compressor. The "Oil" will actually be melted grease migrating out of the Pressure limiting Valve.
      Not reading air pressure at the Metering Unit can mean the Limiting Valve has failed or it can mean that the Metering unit is getting plugged up. If the valve is sending air pressure to the Metering Unit then the metering unit may just need to be disassembled and cleaned. The inlet screen or Diffuser Heater inside could be plugged.
