If you buy a Tazer JL, you can turn it off, but it does a lot more. Changing tire size, changing gear ratio, security alarm on your hood, turning on back up camera with the turn signals and much much more
Absolutely.
Just a friendly reminder. Try watching the entire video before you make a comment.
@@DUNEATV I did, I was simply stating the benefits of a tazer. I appreciate you policing this channel though
@@JendellOverland LOL, no charge!
Yes, the Tazer will turn it off, but you must leave it plugged in all the time for it to work.
I was so impressed that you could say "Auto Start Stop Feature" over and over without a stutter. I am glad you are back. For some reason, I did not know this device exists. I will definitely look at it. I, too, sometimes forget to push the darned button.
Be sure to email the contact that I mentioned in the description section, as he will share a discount if you contact him via the video. Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated. Cheers.
Looks like a simple upgrade, thanks for sharing. I like how you changed the street sign, at 8:55, nice touch Dino
Thanks for noticing!!! I wasn't sure if anyone would see that...lol
Thanks for the feedback. Always appreciated.
Cheers.
i bought the module to bypass the start/stop feature and it works great but getting to the wires pulled is definitely a "B". After getting it installed, I had made several road trips and it works perfectly every time!
Yes. I agree. It works as it should.
I “set it, and forget it!”
Cheers.
I learned to control ESS with the break pedal. You press it down to stop the car and then immediately gently release it and press it down again - normally the ESS does not engage. ESS only engages when you hold the break down firmly for 2-3 seconds. So many people hate when the engine stops running - particularly ironic when people disable it in jeeps equipped with eTorque.
Yes, the eTorque is a different animal for sure. That could be a whole video. Unfortunately I believe they stopped making those for the newer models.
Cheers
Dino...Good job on the smart stop start device description. I was going to buy the Tazer JL mini module, but haven't got around to it. I just try to remember to press the buttons after I start my jeep. The drawback with the Tazer unit is that is costs $200 more than the smartstopstart device. You get much more functionality, but not everyone needs that extent of customization. Keep up the good work...
Hey HikerAL,
Thank you for the feedback.
Cheers.
I like the auto stop feature works well doesn’t hinder my drive saves gas when in drive through also and is controllable with break pedal to many gimmicks one more doesn’t make sense !
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers.
Thank You for posting this video, I will be looking into this modification. Vehicles today are loaded with "save you from yourself" features, that truly diminish the joy of driving. The number of times my Subi engine wears on my auto stop/start is very annoying.
Hear hear!
I’m happy with mine.
Cheers.
YES! The first drive I took in the Jeep I noticed that Stop/Start. Arghh! I don't recall this device being available then (very early 2020). I ended up with a Tazer, but this is way less money. My thought too is that the starter motor is having to crank much more often. Starters aren't cheap! They're not fun to install either. I wish Jeep would stop trying to "think" for us drivers.
Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Nice device. That was one of the things I thought about when I bought my 2015 JKU (I bought it in 2020). I didn't want stop/start.
Yep. I am happy to have it. I think it may even help avoid issues with the small battery. Cheers.
This was the first device I installed on my 2018 jlu Sahara. I always wondered if this saves on my little aux battery? And yes you’re right. It’s a pain to get in and install. But doable and glad I have had it in mine for over three years with no issues
I meant to mention the point about it possibly helping the battery, as I had no issues with mine as well. Thanks for making the point. Cheers.
Love your channel. Ty ❤
You can now delete the aux battery as it’s no longer needed. Connect aux battery wires to main battery terminals. Throw aux battery away.
I will certainly look into that after the warranty is up. Thanks.
That CJTV drive was so creative dino. Keep up the good work man
lol… thank you.
Cheers.
if you install the after-market taser you can enter in setting and you can over-ride that notorious auto-stop-engine feature.
Yes as discussed in the video. Cheers.
Dino, another great video! I like how you explained how to install. Happy Thanksgiving!🦃
Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Cheers.
Great video Dino.
Hey Jeff,
Thanks.
Cheers.
I like this device…set it and forget it. I’ll buy one and try it. Do you have a discount or promo code? Thank you Dino!
I’ve had it in both my JLs, and am happy to have it. I’m not certain, but it may have helped towards my not encountering any issues with the two batteries. 🤷🏻♂️
Cheers.
Awesome, I bought it, and I guess I did you this vid 4 months ago 😊
Another very good video. This should have been built in long ago but who doesn't need an aggravation?
Hey George, Thank you for the feedback. Very much appreciated. Cheers.
The best mod for this issue is to pop the hood and disable one of the hood latch sensors. It is free to do and just clips in and out so you can reconnect any time. What I do personally however, is to shift manually (this is for the auto transmission). This disables the ESS and also improves fuel economy because I can down shift earlier or lock it in to 8th gear for long drives. Secondlly, neither of these will address the real issue which of ESS which can lead to a dead battery and wasted time and money at the dealer. The fix is to eliminate the small lawnmower battery by pulling it out, taping off the neg lead and reconnecting the pos of the AUX to the main battery POS. If you don't do this, the small battery will die and then kill the larger battery too. You can't really tell this work has been done and the dealer doesn't really know if they test the main battery.
Wow. Well explained. I have to learn more. Thanks for the tip. Cheers.
Great video!
Hey Francisco,
Thank you for the feedback on the video. Much appreciated.
Cheers.
Good deal. Now they need a device to override the dashboard warning I get when you have a Jeep JLUR with factory LED package and replaced the taillights with Oracle flush mount LED. People tried Tazer and they can’t fix it.
I would have thought Tazer could have covered that. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Tazer JL definitely covers it and much more. Bit of cost more but savings later on if you plan of doing other mods.
@@Francisco.perezjr Yes.
@@Francisco.perezjr many youtubers have tried the Tazer and it doesn't work.
Wayalife did a video on it and called Tazer company to see if it needed an update and they said they couldn't get it to work.
Mine only says Tail Lights are not working, when I first start the engine, then it cycles back to normal operation.
@@TwoFeatherChannel might have been an update issue, we’ve had ours on the wife’s JL for two years now with no issues, helped us when we re geared also. Also just put one my JT and works like it should. It be worth a shot if you have one on hand already.
will the Auto STop Start disabled sign come up once this is installed?
The indicator in the dash display will not light up. The button light that indicates that you disabled the auto stop start will be on.
What about disabling the aux battery? I haven’t done that myself, but once that little battery dies…I’ll be removing it from the equation.
I think this was easier. I have also read on forums about people getting some type of indicator light in their dash from messing with the small battery and fuse process.
Interestingly, and I forgot to mention it, my 2018 went trouble free, battery wise, running the SmartStopStart on it🤷🏻♂️
My ESS battery failed within 3 years. I just didnt replace it and no stop start lol.
Yes. When the warranty is up on my new Jeep, I may consider doing that.
Cheers
"Set it and forget it."
Hmmm...for some reason that sounds very familiar.

Too funny...I remember that guy!
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
I just press the off button on the dash I know it’s a bit annoying every time you have to restart your vehicle but you get used to it.
Yeah, I always forget. 🤷🏻♂️
When the 12v battery is getting old, the start/stop automatically disable itself. It happens to our 2018 JL, when I talked to the dealer, they said just left it as it was.
The Start/Stop is a government mandate, despite it does not save any gas, so screw it.
On another note, there is no start/stop button on our 4xe.
Interesting tid bit on the 4xe. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t get it. My 3.6 with eTorque restarts instantly - no lag whatsoever. It’s ready to go the moment I am - seamless.
Yeah, the e-Torque is a different animal. I'm glad you're pleased with yours.
I don't think they make the eTorque in the newer vehicles any more.
Cheers.
My etorque is the same. 2023 btw. Can’t think why I’d want to burn gas stopped.
My S/S system stopped working 1 year into ownership on it's own. Told the dealer to not fix it.
👍
Or like my 2020 sahara, it just never works because no matter how long the drive, I get "battery charging"
Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
If we leave the ess engaged, we can use the money we save on fuel to put towards a new starter. Just kidding. I hate ess.
That was funny. I wish I used that line in the video.
Cheers.
I’m convinced the Tazer ate my two batteries. Took that off years ago. It’s still sitting on a shelf somewhere.
Ah. Interesting!
Weird. I'm new to jeeps so I'm not sure I even need one.
Did you have the Tazer feature that allowed you to use your full Navigation controls while in motion? I remember Tazer warning of a software bug that would cause the screen to randomly turn on when the Jeep is off leading to a dead battery.
@@michaelvidal5135 no, only had it for a few features, start/stop, hood alarm, backup camera stays on and backup camera on with blinkers. The main thing for me was start/stop. I installed a Mopar hood latch lock so the hood alarm doesn’t matter much anymore. The backup camera with blinkers was very glitchy. Luckily the Jeep was still under warranty so I didn’t have to pay the ~$900 for 2 new batteries at the Stealership. I want to reiterate I don’t know for sure it was the Tazer just me guessing. Both batteries were 3 years old.
Thanks for the details. The hood alarm is still useful with the hood latch lock incase you forget to lock the hood@@bizzfo
So annoying, it should default to the old way
Yep. 🤷🏻♂️
