Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

That’s a first-class lady. A baby in one hand and a pliers in her pocket.
Thanks for the replies, first I’ve received, The entire farm family is a testament to good hard working solid folks. It’s a pleasure to watch you all
If you listen to “Off the Husk” you will really learn the in’s and out’s of turkeys farming. You’ll also learn about Canadian bagged milk, fish squeezing, and Zack’s cold feet.
How to pressurize the birds.
Or the Legend of Zach Daniels
I learned that Sue makes a mean hot dish, no one's door handles are safe when Zach is around and you should never play croquet with a sledgehammer and a live cannonball
🤣🤣🤣 you're guys lol.
Only Eastern Canada has bagged milk. In Alberta we’re normal😂
That woman is a damn boss for sure, good for her and her family
She’s a true farmer, rocking and bouncing that baby while taking care of business:) god I love that, you go girl:)
? “Taking care of business “ .. you mean standing there and talking to someone... no clue what you’re talking about
@@candlelightministries yep, “standing there and talking”. Spreading information about her business is important, let’s just call it advertising. This woman rocks. Don’t be jealous
@@candlelightministries are you freaking serious? This is her livelihood and she is explaining it.
And she's cute!
I worked on their farm in high school. I’m glad to see they’re still going!
My father in law raised turkeys and I know turkeys are very skittish. You can drive by a turkey farm and roll your window down and yell out "gobble gobble" and then all 20,000 of them would gobble at the same time. Oh yes, Minnesotan here!
It’s like onyx had an inside joke he kept looking at the camera smirking and looking away 🤣
Hilarious
As a one-time farmer graduated to much less interesting occupations, I love the modern look of farming and how Zach explains it. And his children are adorable and remind me so much of my own grandchildren that I am now officially addicted to these videos. Keep 'em coming!
DID Onyx say "is it better" when you told him about the new 2nd channel. Classic. That was a nice burn Onyx if so. 17,000 birds in one barn that's amazing. Happy Turkey day.
This is my America. Thank you to all the hardworking men, women and families that grow, tend and harvest our food. Good bless you all..
"I'd like to get by now." one of my first favorite movies.
A most interesting visit and the most able speakers I've heard in a long time and great selection of questions Zach to get the answers we heard and saw.
From Australia. Fascinating, turkey here is basically a Christmas thing, I noticed when I was in the US on holidays every Supermarket had cooked turkey on sale.
Good souls on those folks
Kudos to Oakdale Farm and Ferndale Market for their transparency. As a range turkey grower in Southern Missouri I know first hand the risks involved in growing birds on pasture. The USDA definition of "free range" is a small enclosure next to a barn that the birds can access. I especially applaud this family for not trying to pass that model off as if the birds were out on an extensive range or pasture. Your integrity is refreshing. May you prosper for many more generations. Jim Protiva
I liked this new format, "Between the rows".....very informative and I enjoyed yours and Onyx's interaction with the owners of the turkey farm. Gobble, gobble!!!
Great video Zach, great to see how responsive and responsible growers they are. Food with integrity is very important to highlight!!
I like this turkey farm. Seen both video's and was just as impressed this time. Good people, good family. Keep doing what you do Zack it's appreciated
The video was awesome to see the difference between raising egg from turkey's and raising the turkey's for the dinner table and also different between free range and ones raised in a barn for 12 weeks. Thanks for sharing!
In the natural young birds have a mother to teach and protect them.
That is why we were taught to dip their beaks in water as soon as they are delivered,
provide proper age appropriate feed and water in bounty in appropriate dispensers and give them dry, safe and warm housing.
Thank you again love to see the hard working Minnesotans and the family aspect of it.
Suffice it to say Zak, your content is absolutely fascinating, educational and off the scale interesting. Also for the added bonus of being allowed to observe the life of children who are raised on farms. Speaking of toddlers, kudos to her parents and grandpa for their constant vigil in keeping her safe and distracted! And to you, for including Onyx in your outing. Children that are raised on farms in Minnesota, and elsewhere, are to be envied for their confidence. As always, thank you for your, and your families, efforts on our behalf, they are appreciated.
I like these tours of other type of farms. Give us a chance to see what they go thru in order to bring us food. Always appreciated.
I like these tours. I can remember going to my grandfather's farm in north central Minnesota. He had a dairy farm with about 40 head that he milked, they were very involved in 4H. Small operation I know, he moved from South Dakota where he started to farm with his father on the original homestead when they opened up the Dakota Territory. Yes, the original homestead is still being farmed today by descendants of my g-grandfather.
Thanks Zack, that trip down memory lane for me my second job after leaving school was working on broiler farms, i understood all they were saying and doing, only issue would have been not cleaning out the last shed every time they took the birds to the processing plant, we had to empty the sheds, the thing was they held 17,000 birds every time and there were 12 sheds on the farm. I have fond memories of those days, thank you again Zack.
FANTASTIC video! Usually i skip a few minutes of video. I can honestly say I watched EVERY minute of this video, & enjoyed it!
Back in the 1960s in Missouri my dad often used rice hulls for litter.
Heh Zach, that was 36 minutes well-spent. The timing for Thanksgiving was cleverly timed and a lot could be learned without working too hard. Thanks for taking time out from your fall schedule to bring us this program.
Zach wonderful video, we don't have thanks giving in Australia, but years ago I spent thanks Giving with Texan friends of mine in Bay City Texas, it was a wonderful time, also before that I spent time with Mr Tom Dean at the Famous Cherokee Red Brahman Ranch Cherokee Texas, its the only time I saw snow , in fact it rained going to Sansaba Texas & snowed on the way back to Tom ranch Cherokee Texas, Tom also had some of the biggest Turkey Gobblers I had ever seen,5000 in one building, that was a lot of Gobbling , when you have Thanks Giving we are having a warm day about 35 c next week it will reach 40c, Zach thank you for giving informative talk & video its great for every child to see where their food comes from,Hard working Farmers, once again great Video, Regrads & Best Wishes Trevor.W.Bacelli, Biloela Qld Australia.
Again, enjoyed the video and a HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all!!

Great video, Zach! It is very interesting to see how other farmers run their operations. We run a beef cattle operation (cow/calf) in Tennessee. Bottom line, farmers feed the world, no matter what they grow. We are all in it together! Thanks again for your videos!
Thanks for that and thanks to your guides at the turkey farm. Most impressive, and not a John Deere in sight.
Walking in that barn it looked like it was decorated for Christmas with all that red white and green. It was all festive and such.
Thanks for taking us along on the tour Zach ! I enjoyed it a lot. Anew learning experience.
Another great video Zach, thanks for taking us with you on the tour, very happy to see Onyx has gotten over co- vid19 and is feeling better and doing well, thanks for taking the time to film, edit and upload for the rest of us here on youtube to enjoy!!!

Loved this video. Love seeing the different types of farming. Very informative. More people should watch these types of videos so we can share an appreciation for all the different farmers out there.
Does me watching this video and frying turkeys at the same time the definition of irony? Lol. Another great video! Happy Thanksgiving ya'll!

Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for such an interesting video!
Glad to see you back Zach!!!
Ron Kardel and his wife Susan, were both class-mates of mine at Davenport, Central high school class of 1970
they provided the two birds(corn & cob) to the white house & president Re-Elect Trump Recently.
Ron & Susan's Turkey raising operation is not far from the world largest Truck Stop along interstate 80 (west of my hometown of Davenport IA)
[Q] What did the Brother & Sister, ears of corn, ask the Mother corn stalk?
[A] where is POP corn?
Hope you have a happy thanksgiving and thank you for the education.
Thank you for sharing. I spent 45 years in the red meat business so I found this informational and very interesting.
Lots of good information about raising turkeys, videos like this should be shown in schools.
Another great video of family farms. Good job to them keeping it going.
Wow holy cow now that is a huge turkey farm thanks for the sweet tour and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
Onyx is so cute and his expressions are priceless.
What a cool video for this time of the year. God bless farmers for their passion and the hard work. Every time we eat we must thank them. 👍
This was a great educational video, I learned so much. Thank you and the great family that had you out to do this video.
There is NOTHING I mean NOTHING like a farm kid. They are the future of this world.
Very interesting! I learned a lot.
Also glad all are healthy again!
Kind of a funny scene where they are talking about “risk management” and then in the back is Onyx playing on the ice with his arms inside his shirt 😅😅 thanks for a nice video 👍🏻
great video looking forward to more like this.love learning new things
You just made my day Zack thanks.
I love seeing young farmers!
What a excellent field trip for Onyx and the audience
The toddler walking among the chicks was super cute ahaha
After dinner sure wasn't the best time to watch this one. I feel about as green as that equipment you run, and I'm really not interested in thinking about anything turkey. Hope all you Minnesota folks had a great Thanksgiving!
Great interview, it's nice to see how the birds are raised and taken care of. Too many people don't understand anything about where there food comes from.
Awesome video very excited to learn that thanks for sharing. Have a great Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone on the other side of the pond from us in England 🏴

They were so concerned about bio security but the little one was in the first barn, then outside running around then running around in the second barn.🤪
