Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

We had a hired man once that always said “There’s nothing so permanent as a temporary fix.”
Haha, true. I remember that i once fixed the door on my grandpas shed "temporarily" with one screw so that it wont fall off anymore when you open it. Well, that was 18 years ago. XD Oh, and the shed got replaced by a new one 5 years ago.
Or when i used some duct tape to keep the internet cable in place that i needed to lay from our kitchen through our hallway to my room so that we have internet again because the old Wlan stick died and the new one wasnt working too. The tape is probably still there and i put it there 7 years ago and moved out 5 years ago. XD
If that’s what he always said then that must have been a boring conversation
@@elliesanders885 🤣🤣 you made my day
@@LantingFarming ,
A smart wife is an asset for any farmer , may the sickness pass your family lightly and quickly.
I'd honestly expand that to 'any man'
Getting "tired of loading trucks" doesn't compare to getting tired of having nothing to load in trucks. Best wishes on a speedy full recovery, Onyx!
I'm assuming the nothing to load in trucks is because your are retired. I farm in WC Iowa, we have very little to load in trucks, cause the rain shut off early summer then it hailed and blew it flat with the derecho. Production is way off. Kinda think I would like to be sick of loading trucks instead of being sick of dealing with insurance agents.
I do t know how you could get tired of loading trucks. Surely it’s like counting money? 👍
Sorry to hear about Onyx. My father passed away this morning... from COVID. He was elderly and at risk and it got him. Please take it seriously and protect others. It might not affect you or most others but at some point down the “line” someone who does get it will suffer the worst. Please take care. It IS REAL.
Sorry to hear that, My great uncle (mom's side) passed two months ago because of a nursing home incident.
Sorry to hear about your loss. My mom passed away in April at 94. We were prepared for it, but the fact she didn't get an autopsy and was put in a bodybag with no funeral ceremonial sucks. We'll never know if she was infected, but 17 people had died in her home so we can assume she got it too. What's most confusing is that many people get the virus and don't experience any symptoms. Myself I've had Covid toes twice now, once before it was even on the radar, and now again. People with Covid toes aren't contagious. Doctors don't explain or understand how it's even possible, but it has to do with blood clotting. Who know in what other ways it affect the body.
Sorry for your loss
Dad has such a unique way of saying yeah. You can even hear it through the phone. Maybe it's a MN thing.
@wiliam Snyder it is a MN thing I’m from Northwestern MN
Great job of editing Becky, my prayer for Onyx and the rest of you. Tillageman Sam did a wonderful job.
Thank you for not panicking, but being smart and taking it seriously at the same time. Good on you!
Farming videos like yours should be mandatory for all city kids. How hard you all work is admirable. Bless you all and prayers for the family get through the COVID well.
Are you sure those zip ties were LONG ENOUGH 🤣😂
For some reason the manufacturers think the thickness and the width of the Tie has to be proportional to the length. Probably a Federal Regulation to determine if the circumference of the items being encompassed will be in the parameters of the strength of the length of the Tie which is being used. I think the formula for tensile strength is, T + W x L÷ C = TS
That's what she said
I would have gone round the poles as many times as possible then trim the end if needed. That way you can reuse the tie afterwards by carefully taking it off! :-) Saves the planet a bit as well!
maybe white zip ties would be better?
@@michaeldamhoff884 Zip ties that are black generally speaking stand up better to the sun’s UV rays plus changing weather conditions.
Sam did a great job. Do I feel a second career coming for his own youtube channel?
Honestly, that would be pretty interesting to watch, seeing all the conditions his farm clients are working in and what he's proposing them to use or try out. Well done, Sam!
More Sam Cam would be great!
"Passive-aggressive guidance" hahahaha
The life of a farmer during the day. Technology sure has come a long way!! Back in my farming days with my dad the rule was, if you broke it you paid for it and or fixed it. If it worn out you still fixed but you did not pay for the part. Great video!!
Tillage man Sam damn knows what he is talking about
I was most impressed with his explanation of what they are trying to achieve with this operation.
And he can back up a tandem!
you can tell because of how many times he says soil... or soul. idk
Sorry to hear that about your son. We all pray that he will recover with no issues. I live in Cook County, and, we now have 32 cases, with seven new ones last week. It is widespread all over the state. I am afraid the worst is yet to come.
Get well young man! Glad to hear he’s turned the corner. Good on you putting yourself out there masking up and social distancing. A lot of people look to you. Optics is important. Stay safe.
The amount of times Sam said “soil” in one sentence is amazing!
Onyx looks like a strong healthy young man. Get well soon lil dude. You'll be back driving tractors in no time. Hope y'all get through this.
ikr 👍
Prayers for Onyx and all
Stay safe all
Prayers for wellness...God Bless you and Family
Wishing Onyx as speedy and full recovery! Stay safe the rest of you
Hopefully you get feeling better little buddy😉 Hope the rest of the family stays healthy!!
COMPLIMENTS TO THE "SAM CAM".....He sounds convincing. Ohhh, and love that colorful flag!
Get well Onyx! May the Lord watch over your family and get pass this illness bless you all...
Certainly hope Onyx recovers quickly. Hoping / praying no one else in your farming family or friends comes down with this virus. Be well and stay safe!!!
"5 inches to the back of nut"...I can't be the only one that was waiting for it.
haha that's how i measure it too.
less we forget, wholesome Becky has to watch, edit, shake her head, and finalize the video. Just imagine what gets left out! #ShesAKeeper
That's what she said
@Ken Hofer that’s what she said too 🤣🤣
So happy to see people being so responsible and caring about others! Together we will all get threw these times!
Hope Onyx feels better soon and the rest of the family can stay healthy as well.
Well I can only imagine onyx is kind of a happy camper in a way since he gets to be with you hunting. I hope he feels good enough to do that thank you for sharing.
Oh no hope you feel better our prayers will be with you
Hey that Tillage Man Sam did a great job explaining the apparatus, what it is doing and why. You need to bring him on more often. You guys stay healthy.
As others have mentioned, top marks to the editor, there was a lot of time spent on this video, we appreciate it. 👍👍😁
Sorry to hear about your son. I hope he will not get a very bad case of Covid. My prayers are with your family.
Glad all is working out... darned Covid is so disruptive. Happy Onyx’s feeling better!
You were on the right track when you made the tire air pressure joke... :-)
Pardon me but if you go back and look at the film again you may discover he was on the left track. Just saying
@@fredellis499 hahaha
ba dum tisss
Sorry to hear about Onyx. I hope that he recovers quickly and is able to get back to his bohemian lifestyle! Be safe, wear a mask. Keep up the great work.
Praying for a fast recovery and hope everything is mild. Thank you for all that the farmers do.
I hope everyone's well today and all of you are happy and healthy 👍
Poor Onyx hope he gets well prayers go to him 🙏🙏
He’ll do fine, doesn’t bother kids much.
@@BeachBoyAAA That's not true at all, Onyx didn't get out of bed for two days straight according to Zach.
@@rbfishcs123 true but that how it is with the flu also. Lay in bed and sleep for a few days and rest up
@@rbfishcs123 lol, stay in your bubble then man and let them rest of us go about our life like normal
@@jruss9109 would be unfortunate if you were to add to the current 230k+ dead Americans from covid, I will miss your presence
Hope you’re doing well Onyx! I am praying for you big guy! My prayer list just keeps getting longer and longer.
God please bless him with a full recovery and please protect the rest of the Family ❤️🙏
Holy cow, the Sam Cam seems so different... almost like it's at a higher elevation.🤣
Zack you're fired!!! 🤣
Si
Glad to see you wearing a mask around the guys. Protect Jim and your Dad at all costs.
Ditto re Jim and your father. They are both really great guys but more at risk because of their age!
Back in the spring, we had a guy, about 20 miles away, under 70, who ended up spending more than two months in the hospital, much of it on a ventilator. His days driving combine are over, I fear! His wife also caught it but recovered at home. His elderly mother died from it as did a neighbour.
@GreyGeek it is supposed to reduce the chance you will give it to somebody. Everyone knows it wint keep you from inhaling contaminated air.
I put your son in my prayers this morning. I had it before the doctors knew what it was I was in Rome and Madrid beginning of last November. Lungs were sore for months. God Bless
Best of health and recovery to best little cart driver. Get well soon Onyx! Aim small, shoot small....and "borrow" another tag.
My oldest daughter Makayla tested positive on Tuesday. Today is her birthday. We are all in quarantine. Prayers to your family.
Yeah I'm isolated out on the ranch now with my second Covid bout including hospital days in a HEPA isolation room. Praise God no real lung problems hoping for the best. Tell Onyx I want see a giant buck down!!
Best wishes for Onyx’ quick recovery! Best wishes for the rest of the family!
Your father is such a adorable dude, nice to see that he can walk better day by day. And I love the fact that you take this whole situation with the virus seriously. Many people act so recklessly and whether you like it or not, we are all in the same boat
and have to take care for those around us!
Greetings from Germany ✌
zach i hope you and the rest of the family stay safe with this covid thinking of you all during this difficult time keep it between the rows .
Oh no . Get well soon. Becky you are one smart lady!
"And my quarantine zone is just a couple of thousand acres big" that got me.
Prayers for a speedy recovery for little Onyx and that your shrinking timeline gives you enough time to get it all done.
“Keep it between the rows” especially if your strip tilling.
Omg poor Onyx! Keep Dad safe!
Loved the small technical explanation from Sam, would love more stuff like that actually
Glad he is feeling better prayers for you all and hope that he gets that big buck!
Common sense responsible. A great role model. We'll virtually hang with you Zach...:)
My husband walked through my office about the time you said Onyx was not upset about taking off school...'cause he could go deer hunting. Husband grunted. "Smart boy!...that's what I used to do." ...then I explained the situation. He says he'll be praying symptoms are short and light. He says he'll also be praying that boy gets him a good deer. Have something to show for all that mess!
Prayers for all of you that you remain healthy and recovery is smooth.
You folks have captured me😘🇺🇸🌟☝️😁🎄✌️💪🚗. I’m 67 and my first memories are riding a Johnny popper with dad plowing.
I appreciated SamCam - especially his explanation as to why you're doing the strip till operation (the clip at around 12:34). Good stuff.
i got quarantined from school this and next week, i’m a freshmen and i’m so fortunate because i got to farm all day, and hunt in the mornings, so i hope he gets through it, and your family stays healthy
You don’t have to do school work while your off?
@@mitchellwellman3765 yea, but it’s basically like your in a class, just take notes, do any worksheets the class does, and take tests when they do, it was difficult to do while farming but i managed
That’s awesome!
Keeping your young man in our prayers. Wishing him a quick recovery. Watch out for your dad and Jim.
Your dad sure seems like a great man, and that trait has obviously been passed on to you. This channel never gets old. Thank you. I hope your family continues to be in good or better health! And btw...the new additions to your machinery are absolutely gorgeous 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Zach: You know what this fertilizer cart needs during times like this?
Me: I don't know. Fertilizer?
Get well soon bud!❤️❤️
Sam really knows his stuff and its amazing how he explains it so clearly.
Prayers for your family. I hope your so heals and that none of you get sick to. May Gods love heal and protect you all. Stay safe. You all are like extended family.
Yep I myself, just getting over COVID. A very strange sickness, I thought I was good then the next day I felt like I had been beaten with a bat. I understand how this virus is getting spread. I was tested 3 times because I am extremely busy and got 2 positive test with the last one being negative. I felt good more than I felt bad . Praying for your son and your family as well.
Hey Zack sorry to hear onyx has covid hope he gets well soon stay safe
Good EDIT becky I pray for you Guys GOOD DAY GUYS
Prayers for the family!! Hope you all stay healthy!!
I wish Onyx a speedy recovery. I hope that your family stays safe and healthy.
Sam did a damn good job explaining things! You've got competition buddy. He could be a huge asset to the channel, too!
Good man Zack
Just remember death is permanent.
Look after your family and protect your mom and dad and Jim’s family.

Praying Onyx gets better soon. Praying for all of you and no one else contracts the virus. Stay safe.
What I like about your channel is the way you show us the day to day "nuts and bolts" of farming. I never cease to be amazed at how mechanized farming has become!
I love the passive aggressive guidance system analysis
Prayers for onyx 🙏🙏🙏🙏
He's a kid it'll barely be more than a cold.
@@MrToLIL He didn’t get out of bed for two days.
@@MillennialFarmer I'm am so sorry, my prayers to your family and onyx
@@MillennialFarmer that’s unlike Onyz
@@MillennialFarmer Well at least he's over the hump. GL to the rest of you.
Sorry to hear about Onyx. Hope he gets better soon! You guys be careful this crap hits anyone! I love ole Glory...she’s great addition to your tractor! 😎! Good luck and stay healthy as you can! Sending prayers!
So sorry to hear of your trouble with Onyx and Covid. Best wishes and prayers from Cape Cod. God bless

The tillage man sam cam was a good addition.
God be with Onyx and your complete family!! And be so much safer with his Dad & Jim due to there age!! Take Care, Mark Thomas
03:45 What a guy! God bless you, my friend! Prayers all the way from Texas for Onyx!
"5in to the back of the nut". I was waiting for you to say, that's what she said. LOL
I lost my grandfather to Covid. 36 days of zero contact of waiting for the phone to ring hoping to hear good news, only to hear 'I'm sorry'. He was 68.
So sorry for your loss!
Uncles currently in the hospital fighting it. Hoping for good news also. Sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss ❤️
Sorry for your loss, thoughts and prayers to you and your family
Prayers for a full & quick recovery for Onyx, and good health for the rest of the family
Hope you and your family stay well. My prayers are with you.
Prayers for Onyx and a speedy recovery. As a paramedic and a "front line worker" , this round of COVID is making the first one pale in comparison. We are seeing many more children that are very sick with it. Sounds like you and the Mrs. are on top of things. Farm on my friend !
well good thing onyx is doing better my neighbor friend died last night from covid.
My best friend of 47 years, Tom, died from Covid about 3 weeks ago. He went quickly. He was about my age.
@@spaceinvadertoo damn man sorry to hear that. The guy I knew was in the hospital I think for about a month or month and half.
my heart goes out to you and your son i hope he feels better soon. i hope that your dad stays well and the farm hands keep things going smoothly so that you don't have a mess to clean up once your son is back to 100%
Great Sam cam and praying for a speedy recovery for your boy and our favorite grain cart driver!!!!
Praying Onyx has a full recovery. Looking forward to him being on the tractors for planting season. Thanks for doing what you do and keeping food on our table and fuel in our tanks.
When sam had the camera it was so much taller..lol
Hoping Onyx a speedy recovery. And you and the rest of the family staying safe. 🙏🏼
Hope Onyx gets better soon and everyone else stays healthy. Great videos, thanks for sharing.
Ok so that was very thoughtful of you to share with everyone about your young one.
With a very nice bit of extra info and some sensible safety stuff. Because safety.
Also, about Zach just going to work... well, farmers.
My Dad had 3 or 4 ribs broken by a caw deciding to use him as a leaning post one day when I was about 5...
Next morning I get up to use the washroom.. ( I'm 5 remember. ).. He hadn't gotten back from the hospital the night before until midnight I think. He was making funny noises so I looked in his door. Took him 10 minutes to sit up straight. Then he went out and milked cows. Man that must have hurt. I had no idea.
Now I'm 52, and I understand full well how much it had to have hurt. Farmers will still go to work as long as they can move lol.
Good job Zach. Glad to hear you went straight to, "we're not messing around, we will make sure this doesn't spread"
There were a couple moments where a "that's what she said" should've happened. We will let it slide this time 🤣
Hope your son gets well soon....praying for the rest of the family and workers to stay healthy
Get well soon Onyx! Zack, you and your wonderful family take care snd stay safe!! God bless!!
