Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

After my 3rd cold one that evening, I realized I should have checked more closely for air leaks. This is our 10 year old air cart that I don't have a ton of experience with, and it shows. The air seeder guys are laughing at me, I'm sure.
How’s onyx’s
I think the trouble is when you get problem after problem you do loose the ability to figure it out you just want to be done with it
It sucks trying to work out bugs in a new system your not used to and it must be even worse with the winter dead line closing in fast. I give you props for sticking with it for as long as you have if that was me i would of said f it along time ago and gone back to what i know works.
@@Bigal1211 Onyx is doing fine! He's just concentrating on deer hunting now lol
You need to use some workin' words Zach. Seems to do wonders for the Browns...
Bet Becky had to spend a lot of time editing out all of your “working words” lol
@@EyesOnlyTeam86 Yeah I would have to agree with that one 🤣 🤣
I've mentioned that before! LOL She is for sure the hardest working person on the farm, in the editing department alone!
Bitcoin will go higher, above $15,000. The best thing to do now is to trade what we are holding in our wallet. People forget that in July 2017 Bitcoin dropped 20% in less than 10 days. At the end of August 2017 it again dropped 30% before going Parabolic! I think that we are really going to be shocked in the very near future when we see how little good crypto is actually available. This bull run will show us the true amount and value of these coins. Get your ducks in order before it's too late. The window of opportunity is closing very quickly. As for me, Mr Nicholas Myron helps me trade and so far my crypto portfolio has been on a steady increase from 3.5btc to 6.01btc i want you all to learn from this guy on Instagram @nicholas__fxtrade
I have always been a keen subscriber to this channel mate, i admire how factual you put out your messages. Crypto currencies continue to play a commanding role in the digital market and they are not looking to slow down soonest. Investors are looking to a bullish move so as to earn from hoarding, while traders are earning from price movements. Trading has always been more profitable means of earning, this has been a major step for me, I have found a crypto guide is NICHOLAS MYRON and his signals are top notch. I must say, I haven’t seen any service as his, I made over 15 Btc within 5 weeks, and this was done solely from my daily trade sessions on my live trading account, trading from my experience is the most lucrative opportunity crypto offers yet, every crypto trader should learn the art and utilize its gains.NICHOLAS can be reached on Instagram @nicholas__fxtrade . Buy the dip....

I have to say, your pre-flight check of the 8X’s “tires” makes me laugh every time! Thanks for your sense of humor!
I am so thankful lawn care is not this complicated.
Holy cow that fert setup is insane! Im glad I only have half an acre to care for.
That's what happens when "citified engineers" who have no farm experience design farm equipment.
I'm not so sure it isn't, Allyn. A top notch lawn requires top noth maintenance.
I second this!
It's not that complicated but lawn care can be super frustrating!
OMG, Welkers are now shooting rocks out of their cannon. Wow, that went a long way!
Sioux ya ya
The joy of air seeders. Around here all seeding is done with those contraptions so having plugs like that is all in a days work. Had a day like that and it turned out the latch came lose on the tank lid. That will throw your rate off but and spent all day trying to find plugs etc. Turns out tank lids were lose.
would the seedsense monitor tell you on the 20\20 monitor if the seed count was bad or its just not an option for your seeder?
The level of "pissed the f**k off" in those hammer swings at 10:08 is a familiar feeling. Been there many times. Hang in there bro.
Thank you for all you do!
I've been there, done that when I was a kid on the farm. I truly feel for you.
Loving the speedy upload schedule mr and mrs millennial farmer. Thanks!!

Drinking Beer while watching you in need of Beer makes my day!
I'm a "city" boy that found your channel and now can't stop watching! What you, Cole the Cornstar, and others do is just amazing, and I've gained a whole new level of respect for the American farmer! While i"m pretty good with computers, there's no way that I could run a farm!

Hopefully it starts working for you! Thanks for the good video!

Love the honesty of those Rollercoaster days, I get the same in lawn care, you can easily end up your own worst enemy on those days but once things click its amazing
Love how you use the tire pressure gage to clean mud off the disc's

NOT the worst day ever.. Some work got done, nobody got hurt, and you went home for beer and food to your family. Sounds like a good day to me Zach!
8:50. Lol.
You handle your frustration well on camera. Ill drink a beer with ya. Cheers!
I could see the frustration when you were hitting the line with the hammer. You have way more patience than I do. Would of been calling for a spread truck 10 min in to do it the old fashion way. Love your vids.

OMG, what a day that was for you. Thought you showed great patients. Hope you enjoyed that beer.😊
Always have a beer in the cooler. In times like you are having, it's calming. When things go right, it's for the ride home
I recognize that rock. It's a leaverright. I can tell by the shape, density and color. If you don't pick it up now, by spring it will be so big you will put a museum next to it and onyx will be taking tolls of crazy strange people wanting to touch it!
I have 'colters' on my disk harrow. When the dirt starts to build up the metal colters keeps it clean.
I feel for ya Zack. Those days are never any fun. It’s a good thing you didn’t have any explosives handy. Hopefully, all the issues can be sorted soon. Take care & stay safe. Cheers
I really felt the frustration in this one. Good frequency of vids too!
I did a school project and you were apart of it because they wanted to know what we do on social media and I said I watched you. You are such a impact on the farming community plz reply ty
Thank you!
The Millennial Dilemma: Do I computerize and 'millennial mode' this? If I do:
When it works: Everything is so much easier than it's ever been, it's smoother, better for the land, and faster, wham bam thank you ma'am.
When it doesn't work: WHY DID I COMPUTERIZE THIS?!? NOTHING WORKS AND I'LL BE HERE ALL WEEK AAAAARRRRGH!
More colorful language in number 2.
@@jamesmcmahonii8433 ...true.
Not a fan of computers and plastic here either. Old mechanical stuff would run a LONG time if you did your part. And new equipment we're getting has issues at the start. I miss our old 980B loader. Very strong, reliable and over engineered
Lmao with AAARRRGGGHHH when did Zach become a pirate farmer
@@dieselbassohyah1533 Computers are great, when they work. The crux of the matter is, when a mechanical tool goes wrong, it's usually something that you can see and fix easily. It's a small frustration. Computers can even help you find minor issues and fix them before they become problems.
When something computerized goes wrong, it's already past the point of those minor failures. It's either A) the computer itself that's failed - in which case, there goes your main diagnostic tool and everything is instantly 100x harder, or b) something big. Either way, frustration level 1000.
And with the way the human brain is wired, you don't remember the thousands of hours it works fine, you just remember the six days of troubleshooting it took to get there the last time it went wrong.
You are having one hell of a go at it Sir
But that view of the sunset at the end makes it totally worth it. God bless our farmers!
You did mention air leak potential and that was one of my theories too as it will tend to take the path of least resistance leaving you with less.
However, I am no farmer though, all I can do is sit back try to envision how this rube goldberg contraption is supposed to work and try to figure out the various failure modes.
8:51 at this point zac is definitely ready to burn it down and head to the bar DEFINITELY
If that’s your worse day ever.....you’ve been blessed Zach
You got this, hun!! Computer stuff sometimes just screws up royally, and there could be a virus or bug in the operating system that's doing it.. or who knows? Sending bear hugs from a half frozen old woman from Canada. Hoping you have a better weekend!!!
1:25 "Air pressure's good" LOL!
What are you doing here? 😂😂
Hey Zach: There’s an old Bohemian proverb told to me by my Grandfather “ To err is human, but to REALLY screw up requires a computer “.
Well maybe it wasn’t my Grandfather but he SURE was Bohemian. Captain Al from Tampa😎
That was entertaining!! Thank you for sharing and I hope you get it figured out. Sounds like the old school wins!
There are days that you just want put a stick if dynamite in an implement and be done with it. You definitely are more patient than I would have been. 😁 Thanks for the videos!
Next Video: "We Got a New Air Cart!"
10:08 Pressure relief? XD
I stay away from hammers myself when I'm frustrated, bad things tend to happen lol
Did I look frustrated?! 🤣
I liked the video not because I like to see you struggle but because you did not set the cart on fire. Bravo
That beginning was great!
Florida: Hey Zach, heard you’ve been dreaming about me...
Minnesota: Dreaming? Doesn’t that happen when you sleep?
Did you try turning it off, waiting 30 seconds and then turning it back on?
Also if that doesn’t work trade it in for something red maybe lol 😂
Shoot the damn thing lol!
That only worked in the 90s
its just JD...
I am glad to see not the only one that struggles at times. Feel your pain. Had somewhat of same problem with planter this spring with a couple of seed corn numbers. When you have window of opportunity to go you kinda need to take advantage of it because those windows seem to close fast.
It is amazing how often expensive farming equipment breaks down.
I say that almost everyday “there is no reason for these shannigans!”
I’m convinced you must act way more annoyed off camera! There’s no way a man can have that much patience with those problems WHILE FILMING! Better man than I
Selective editing by his producer.
Yes. In certain situations, I do have to hide some emotion lol.

I think you had the right idea when you said I think the bar is open!!
Hey Zach! My dad found out about you and has started watching you almost every day!his name is Jeff and loves your videos! his favorite is when ditch chased that squirrel !
Lots of random “phantom codes”, look for a bad ground. I have had a similar issue in a completely unrelated field and it fixed the problem.
Yup, bad ground is what I tell to check all the time with a DMM. Typically everything that's crimp not at the factory has to be redone every couple of years. Same thing as the blower on his silo elevator, relay wasn't clamping because the wires were all messed up. Temporary measures become permanent on a farm!
Terrence Sauve - I work in the maritime construction industry. It’s the same story here- and this electronic crap hates 1 or two bolts over ground!
Whenever we have a “wreck” here at the ranch and everything is going wrong I stop and think...at least I’m not getting off of a Higgins boat on Omaha beach on D-Day and I have nothing to complain about. Blessings and peace.
Perspective. It's a powerful thing.
@@MillennialFarmer as I watched the video my heart just sank. We have all had those days when something so simple isn’t. Then the seagulls at the end, just to ruin the sunset. Some days just aren’t as good as others and thankfully those days are not often.
I have a similar saying, but grandpa was in the south pacific, so mine is "at least I'm not in a fox hole on bougainville with malaria and dysentery ".
You got me with the "Joe Dirt" quote! 🤣
Loving the videos zach. Little truck we use to stop soil build up on ploughs here in the uk is to spread grease over them when they clean and clean the boards after each day.
Question: could all the myriad codes be caused by a poor ground or earth connection in the wiring between air cart and tractor?.
It's all gone wrong since you let that red tractor into the yard .......
There used to be a time when I was younger and less knowledgeable and I decided to lik Case Tractors... Then I realized that they were the red ones and the enemy. I love green tractors better since that's my favorite color (but absolutely love Olivers more... Zach might hate me for that but hey, Deere is cool...)
I think these videos have showed us that it is best to keep things simple
I give you props for not turning off the camera and keeping a decent mood throughout the video.
"It's worked for a 100 years". So, let's change it till it doesn't work. Uff Dahh.
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is
A reset, so to speak.
Don't put all your eggs in 1 basket. Bitcoin will always be around because of the coin exchanges and it's own blockchain. Given.. I saw a recommendation about Mr Nicholas, I found so many people showing accolades to a man named Mr Nicholas who has made a great impact to so many young crypto investors since last year. Some said he has the best strategy to trade bitcoin, I was tired of Gdax and Binance small profits I was getting, so I reached out to him and he gave me the best tips to excel in the world of crypto. My favorite part of driving to college back in the day by far was Hwy 64 west of Memphis, TN. Really great ag land. I think I’d be on a combine in another life. I’d even settle for grain cart. Haha
4:50 you don't say, dude i just literally spent the whole day digging out fertilizer out of a old pull type spreader, try emptying 5 tons of fertilizer with a bucket just to fix a roller that seized overnight that prevents the belt from moving fertilizer to the spreaders. Good to know that no matter how old or new your equipment is, it remains a struggle. Had the same frustration today
Ow ow ow ow .That's crappy luck huh
I love the video stay safe! “ I’ll get that rock in the spring” why won’t you just grab it now so it is less work in the spring?
No basket on the loaner.
Put a basket on the air cart.
Had the same thing happen on my 1910 air cart, was a plugged tube under the cart. The air pressure in the cart is high and the obstructed tube is low. That pressure difference forces product through the meter, so makes it look like the issue is with the meter. Confusing as heck I know, but your meter is fine.
Take a 5/16 nut driver remove the clamps on the problem run and remove the tubes in the cart, make sure they are clean and reassemble and check you have good airflow. Then work your way forward from there.
Lastly crank up the fan to 4500-4600 rpm, for what you are doing you don't need to worry about blowing product out of the rows.
I was shocked to see you having issues. I really thought that you had a perfect life. I guess you are more human than I gave you credit for.
