I can’t tell you how this video made my day. Had a terrible day at work, come home and here’s Tom with another Cellar Series video. Perfect. These are great. I’ll tell you one thing, it has made me aware of many items I ordinarily wouldn’t have thought of. I go on your site all the time, but mostly looking for specific things. These videos have opened my eyes a lot more. Thank you Mr Wittman. Please keep the series going and the drink and cigar. Cheers
Love your unboxing Tom...I'm in Thailand and i get great satisfaction and inspiration from them.I greatly love your show videos as well and the information i gain helps me a lot...keep up the great work.... Chris cooper... Royal Thai Airforce Academy... Instructor
Aaand here's another one who's got a bad day over here in germany and is really cheered up from this video. The least annoying thing happened to me today is a tooth broken off. We're all living with Tom and it's a little christmas for all of us watching. Never stop making these, please :)
What an entertaining hour of fun Tom, as usual. I think we all light up when we see a new film from you. The SS tunic looked great...look like original post 42 tabs to me on an early M28 style tunic. The Feldherrenhalle Degen was a delight....I had to laugh...your previous video guest with his lovely collection of tagged Degen. ...when you said to him the bag even says Degen, and the guy said what's that mean? You kinda shot him a sideways glance and said..well ...its German for dagger....lol!!
I thought the tunic looked good too, but I am sure it will be savaged for the inconsistency. As for the Feldherrnhalle... there was no way we could resist showing that. It's been quite a few years since one has visited!
Why would someone spend $50+ dollars to send a gag gift when you can do the same for $5 bucks? As my thinking leads me, I don’t believe that was the original item sent in the box. A problem with heavily insuring an item is it allows postal inspectors the right to look inside the package to see if the item is worth what it is heavily insured for. Like any business or operation, this is a bright star for thieves.
Amazing. Mr. Wittman thank you and the chicken? Awesome as well. You invoke such a level of emotion in others thru your unique job, your passion, dedication to the craft and above all else, your expertise in the field .... that you compel them ( some ) to spend $54 dollars on you. That's nothing to be embarrassed about. Do you know what friends do? We give them gag gifts. Such a great show you have here. Thank you for taking us along on this journey.
I always pause my projects to watch these unboxings. Great information, and variety, as usual. Hopeful to see you at the MAX show. Thank you for sharing with us. Have a great day men.
I have a question...is the MAX show the "Military Antiques Extravaganza"? The one that's Sept 15-16 in York Pa??? I'd really like to go but Im not sure if that's what you guys are talking about. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing this awesome historical knowledge about all of the wonderful things you’ve showed us in this segment of the awesomeness you get to handle!!!!!!
Epic viewing once again. Me and my wife were watching last night in bed here in Scotland and when the chicken appeared we nearly fell out of bed laughing, unforgettable. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you so much! I'm thinking of making the chicken the co-host. If anyone in the comments is into metal detecting and amazing hiking footage, please make sure to check out Sidlawman Outdoors.
Mr Wittmann, the 2nd pattern Luft dagger you show at approx. the 13:00 mark has a dedication on the top edge of the scabbard between the hanger rings! If it’s interesting, please let us know! Great video! Thank you sir!
@@WittmannAntiqueMilitaria Nice! Sounds like a fairly common name that will bw hard to research. Still a nice personalization to have on a dagger though.
wow Tom what a great items delivery other than the navy dagger. you must be something special to get a ss rubber chicken from someone. i loved the video, fantastic items. im sure you will be writing checks. fab stuff and thank you so much for posting so we can see. look forward to the next video. im going to try those cigars. thank you Larry
I love your videos and your expertise and honest opinion about all the items. I sometimes feel like being there with you, having a great time together. :)
Thankyou for these videos. I find them to be the best yet. I appreciate the learning tips such as dagger knots. Can you show us how to apply a navy dagger troddel if possible. Regards JT
It's always fun to see what is unboxed. I'm not too read up on militaria, but the condition of some of these items all these years later is astonishing. I was also pleased to see an East German item a few episodes ago, I find the helmet design of that area really...bizarre.
I finally figured out the chicken joke! At first I just thought it was a bit of randomly brilliant pranking, but in the very first minute of DTC #5, Tom says "it could just be a dead chicken"... I reckon that inspired it :P So - In the next video may I suggest you say "It could just be the Goring wedding sword" ;-)
In Canada they only have Boxing Day once a year but Haus Wittmann has UNboxing day the whole year around. Let the joy be unrefined! 👍😎 BTW, I DO have an observation re: the $54 chicken that I will share with you another time as it's a tad too ribald for your video. 😁
Interesting last name: Himmelfreund. First name is unusual too: Pointner. Obviously a grenadier. Might even be possible to find out more about him with such an unusual name. Keep up these lectures, unboxing videos. Great job Mr. Wittmann! P.S. I even liked the chicken! Himmelfreundpointner is the entire last name. Gotta be some kind of record for the longest German surname. Hahahahaha!
Great video and very informative as always Mr Wittmann. BTW, I was looking for your address on Google Maps Street View and couldn't believe it when I saw you sitting on your porch!
That feltherrnhalle dargger separating was awsome to see, never seen before, cheesrs Tom, u can say hello from me from Finland im Janne ...talk u e mail many times
A delightful video as always👏. If i may, i say that the second brocade belt, that you identify as an army one, is to me a police one with an army buckle and unidentify loops. If is it for sale i'm intrested in that belt.
Are these items sent with a pre-determined price or do the people have to be contacted and then the price is established? Scary watching your cigar when you were handling that tunic.
Some consignors absolutely have a figure in mind when they send things, often quite a bit too high. Other people have no clue and are looking for a valuation.
Dear Tom - thank you for posting these fantastic videos. I’m intrigued as to what you do with the pieces? Are they to appraise or are they for you to purchase for the business? Ps what is it you are drinking . Lol. 😀
On page 136 of the Johnsons book no/4, there is an Eickhorn example of the Feldherrnhalle with the number 13 on both cross guards, this dagger has wooden grips.... with one or both have to be fake right?
Dear Arizona, Thanks for the Feldhernnhalle comments. No, both daggers are original. There are two other known Feldherrnhale's that have the same numbers as another two known pieces. Apparently these numbers were only used for assembly and had nothing to do with the Officers that received them. Thomas T. Wittmann
This was nice episode, beautyfull things. PS. Can you tell me is it possible to find an original SS dagger for arround thousad bucks? It doesent matter the condition, I want it to be whole ofc, to have the eagle button etc, even a scabbard isnt important to me, as I allready told my gradfather Stalingrad story, it isnt collection in my mind, its just to have again what I lost when I was idiot and young and didnt care about these things. Hello, What is said on the cloth item at 1:07:30 is "Unserer treuen Kampfgefährten, ein letztes, Heil Hitler" Roughly means, Our faithful (or true) comrades in arms, one last, Heil Hitler. So it could have been from a funeral sash or like a monument to a lot of people or something like that. Have a nice day.
The best part of the chicken joke was that he referred back to it several times after moving on. He was really shocked. Lol.
He really was. I'm sure that chicken will not be the last booby prize we are sent!

Cigar and a drink, starts well and gets better. Great stuff!
The chicken joke was worth every penny!
Did someone send a priceless dagger and it got stolen and replaced with a chicken?
Absolutely! ;)
Why would someone spend $50+ dollars to send a gag gift when you can do the same for $5 bucks? As my thinking leads me, I don’t believe that was the original item sent in the box. I thought the chicken prank was fun. It showed you truly don't know what's in the packages, and also added a little humor to the unboxing.
