Heh. And while he was off to relieve Bastogne, the US 7th Army held the weakened Allied line partly by making use of the Maginot Line fortifications. There are many ways to be stupid in a war, and discounting the value of fortifications is one of them.

I think the reason why they aren't in a museum is that there is an ample supply of the mountings, but few barrels because they had to be destroyed to comply with the peace treaty. Museums usually want complete assemblies. As far as preserving the sites, it depends on available resources. There are so many relics of WWII along the coast and throughout Europe that there isn't enough money to maintain them all. So, there are a few examples preserved and the rest are left to nature.
I'm assuming you mean German WWII aircraft? There's a few dozen Spitfire that are still airworthy, and at least one Lancaster that does flyovers still I believe.
Is this a new addition with the Drone footage. If so it absolutly benefits the overall imagery of the complex. Now I can visualise the tactical placement of the gun emplacements. Well done.
The Kriegsmarine Bunker with the 10.5 cm KWK gun mount/casemate was vey impressive. Extremely well built with the 2.5 m thick roof. Wonder why all that barbed wire was in the bunker? Didn't take long for BBG to jump into the empty case pit. Great drone shots accompanied by your own music creation HH. Yes, a real shame the 10.5 m cannon under carriage wheel and other undercarriage part with crank was not transported to a museum and preserved. Can't believe all that equipment was left behind. Thank you so much HH and BBG for taking us there.

I would really like to know the locations of these historic locations, so I can research a little more about the battles that took place & the building technics/layouts of these emplacements. Great work you guys stay warm, wild wet west coast BC
I mean even if we ignore all the genocide, getting pounded into submission and then spitroasted between Russia and the US/UK is probably not a great part of German history. ;)
But genocide? Why is what Germans did(out of destperation) called Genocide and what Brits did to Indians and the Africans not called Genocide? It happened during the same era so why is one evil and why is other not? Perspective much..
I enjoy watching your video adventures. This one in particular is of interest as I’m reading a very interesting book, “D DAY Through German Eyes - The Hidden Story of June 6th 1944.” Fascinating to see these places along side of the accounts in the book.
I like your vids! Only annyoing thing about the video, is that Im not there :) Would love to come and see all the cool bunkers and places you explore! Denmark is not so far from Germany! I would imagne this would be woth the trip ;) Thnx!
Hay guys I'm from the UK. I like to watch your videos because you have a real passion for history and you visit some amazing places. Thank you for your videos and your knowledge of the areas and items you find.
I'm on a long weekend and Memorial Day Holiday off from my duties as a Registered Nurse binge watching your videos! Those gunner pieces aren't too damaged by rust, they could be preserved nicely on display in a museum!
here in western Pennsylvania we have cannons that were used in the Civil War in place were they were used.. there is a large cannon in a pit on the north side of Pittsburgh walking distance from Heinz Field. I went to grade school a few hundred yards away. i use to slide through that cannon when I was a kid. The barrel is about 15 feet long.. it’s about 300 feet from the national aviary in west park on the north side of Pittsburgh, just west of the aviary
so do I man !!! I was in germany and visited couple of interesting places, but great would be to stay there one month and do REAL tracking to different WW2 places ...
WW2HistoryHunter: Thank you for sharing. I have watched many of your video's and I'm always amazed. I have studied WWII history for many years and have always wanted to see first hand some of the places where so much took place. Since I live in the US, I do not have places like what is found throughout Europe, Scandinavia or Russia. It is amazing that there are so many artifacts are still out there. I hope someday I will have the opportunity to see such amazing WWII history with a visit to Europe. Thanks for all you do.
After the war there were thousands of weapons, artillery, aircraft, tanks, ships left laying about that suddenly had no use. Many were saved for monuments and museums (or mothballed) but most were worthless. And remember, people wanted to put the horrors of the previous decade behind them. Look up images of WW2 surplus and you can see the hundreds of fighter planes that people would pay millions for today, just lined up waiting to be chopped up for their aluminium and magnesium. Those metals had value but the ferrous metals didn't. The price of iron and steel dropped precipitously and most of it wasn't worth the cost of transporting it to a foundry.
Interesting story -- by the mid-'50s, Japan's industry was struggling to recover from wartime damage, and many of its harbors and docksides were still choked with wreckage. To jump-start recovery, the US State Dept. offered an economic incentive to the US steel industry to import a large amount of Japanese scrap metal -- former battleships, trains, tracks, rebar, etc. -- for reprocessing and resale to our auto manufacturers. But the word went 'round that some of the imported scrap might be contaminated with radiation, if harvested from Hiroshima or Nagasaki. So State directed the Japanese suppliers to label their scrap as to city of origin, and include a statement testifying to the fact that it was known to be "radiation-free"! A good proportion of the steel made from this scrap was bought by Chrysler Corp., to turn out its phenomenally popular Virgil Exner-designed "finned models" of 1957-59.
History is everywhere on the WW2HistoryHunter on UA-cam Truly amazing channel and videos and im glad your kids enjoy it also that way they spend time with DAD Huge fan from northern Toronto Ontario 🇨🇦
My wife got excited when you mentioned snow lol. So nice to see the gun pedestal still there. Am sure after these locations were taken over by the Allies, the soldiers were told to dismantle the cannons so the Germans couldn’t use them if the retook the area. Very nice location to explore.
Think about it, not too long ago there were soldiers filling in these positions, manning powerful weapons in preparation for defense against a determined enemy that was bringing wholesale death and destruction with them. That's why the walls and ceilings were made so thick. I wished that we had the good sense to learn from WWI and WWII, but I believe that once all of those people that lived and fought during that period are gone- we that came after will launch ourselves into an even more costly an affair. Billions will die; billions!
WOW!!! This is incredible. We don't have the opportunity to explore these kinds of sites here in the US. Thanks for the awesome tour! Greetings from New York.
I just love going with you on your tours and education trips to these fascinating sights. It is not only interesting but educational as well. So much enjoying all of your videos.

I’m from the U.K. and I think all that equipment that is left over after the war should be saved as it’s part of your country’s heritage and visitors could go and visit the site... Cheers for showing us 🏴👍🏼
And I know there are those who suffered from the hands of those that were stationed in those bunkers, I have no sympathy for those who tried to overthrow the world and who took part in trying to wipe out a whole race only because they thought they were the superior race. My grandfather wore a steel plate in his head and suffered to the day he died in 1987 because of the "suffering" of those who were in these bunkers and on these guns. no sympathy for the germans or japanese from that era. let them rot in hell.
The room with the "large pipes" is the magazine. The pipes provide passive ventilation of powder laden air to prevent dangerous buildup of unburned powder during firing that could result in an explosion hazard. The pipe closest to the ceiling allows for hotter air to stratify out of the magazine, which creates a vacuum to pull cooler air in. This flushes out stagnant air and flammable particles. The excavated area is likely unfinished and design to store materials, possibly casualties. All the rocks piled up in the structures were done as a haphazard attempt to fill in the fortifications after they were seized to prevent re-use and possibly vandalism after the war.
Amazing to see those things still out there. Would you agree ?

WW2HistoryHunter That's ridiculous. It has to be the eagle. Absolutely messed up. I would try re-uploading it anyway. Could have been some pansy that got triggered by the symbol.
Thats disgusting that youtube took the other video down, it's a historical document. Are they trying to airbrush history?
Amazed how well the Germans built these structures, makes one proud of their German heritage. It's the greatest story never told.
@Jude M Yes, Germans should have internally fought the desire to be Nazis. Like right wing Americans need to do today.
Thanks for taking time to comment and watch.
Another great video as usual. Keep it up! You really inspire me to get out more and just enjoy the outdoors! Much love!
Thanks a lot Evan and Greetings from us.
the snow is very pretty, adds a rather intense feeling to the whole video.
i agree totally and it made it very special to be there. Thanks Hayden :)
Love the drone views! Enjoy this older program.
Appreciated and greetings from us :)
I would really like to know the locations of these historic locations, so I can research a little more about the battles that took place & the building technics/layouts of these emplacements. Great work you guys stay warm, wild wet west coast BC
Sorry , locations are not given. Thanks for watching.
Love the vid and they should put that stuff in an expansion.
oka and Greetings from us.
where you from?
and amazing video man keep the good work up
Great vid. The location and footage of the history you captured is fascinating.
Thanks a lot for watching and taking time to comment
Awesome footage from the Drone over the site , thumbs up guys fully enjoyed watching your video
GLad you liked it.
Remnants from a terrible part of Germany's history. I find the mechanics of War fascinating, the politics haunting..
thra5herxb12s agree
Terrible??
Only terrible if you believe the perpetuated lies. Truth is quite different from what is generally told.
Hope you enjoy it!
I like your vids! Only annyoing thing about the video, is that Im not there :) Would love to come and see all the cool bunkers and places you explore! Denmark is not so far from Germany! I would imagne this would be woth the trip ;)
Thnx!

Thanks and Greetings to Jimie
I'm on a long weekend and Memorial Day Holiday off from my duties as a Registered Nurse binge watching your videos! Those gunner pieces aren't too damaged by rust, they could be preserved nicely on display in a museum!
That is awesome and i agree those gun pieces should have been taken care of long time ago. Thanks for being here.
here in western Pennsylvania we have cannons that were used in the Civil War in place were they were used.. there is a large cannon in a pit on the north side of Pittsburgh walking distance from Heinz Field. I went to grade school a few hundred yards away. i use to slide through that cannon when I was a kid. The barrel is about 15 feet long.. it’s about 300 feet from the national aviary in west park on the north side of Pittsburgh, just west of the aviary
Thanks for sharing and for being here :)
Absolutely breath taking
Appreciate you watching my friend.
That’s so bad ass... I wish I could explore those areas and admire the history in person!:P
Great stuff my friend and thanks
so do I man !!! I was in germany and visited couple of interesting places, but great would be to stay there one month and do REAL tracking to different WW2 places ...
12:40 fantastic metallwork, all the rivets
yes i agree. Thanks for watching.
Great to read and thanks for comment and for watching.
Your video’s are superb! Thank you very much for all your hard work.
Glad you like them!
Where exactly is this?
Thanks for watching.
WW2HistoryHunter was soll das denn jetzt heißen? war ja nicht wirklich die Beantwortung meiner Frage
ok let us try this then : locations are not revealed and will not be revelaed. Thanks you for taking time to comment and watch.
@Amaze World, it is Norway. I live here. Many interesting places like this around. Check out Herdla Airfield for instance!
@Capo Belize some people would like to visit these places.
Thanks for watching
Gave me flashbacks... to playing Medal Of Honour in the mid-2000s.
Thanks for watching.
History is everywhere on the
WW2HistoryHunter on UA-cam
Truly amazing channel and videos and im glad your kids enjoy it also that way they spend time with DAD
Huge fan from northern Toronto Ontario 🇨🇦
Appreciated Sege and Greetings from us.
My wife got excited when you mentioned snow lol. So nice to see the gun pedestal still there. Am sure after these locations were taken over by the Allies, the soldiers were told to dismantle the cannons so the Germans couldn’t use them if the retook the area. Very nice location to explore.
Snow is very common there after November ad a lot of it :) Thanks Anthony and say a personal hello to your wife from us :)
Not everything can or needs to be saved. I love history but still, there is more stuff then that needs to be saved or even practically can be saved.
Gun barrels, range finders and directors all removed. Old steel left to rust and concrete revetments abandoned. Nothing of note to save or restore.
well i think that everything is worht taken care of. Thanks William for watching and comment.
Thanks and appreciate you watching.
George Turner 3rd humanity on a cross made of iron....
WOW!!! This is incredible. We don't have the opportunity to explore these kinds of sites here in the US. Thanks for the awesome tour! Greetings from New York.
Thanks and appreciate you watching.
I just love going with you on your tours and education trips to these fascinating sights. It is not only interesting but educational as well. So much enjoying all of your videos.
So nice of you and greetings from us to David.
Awesome. Many thanks for showing us this site. Sure would like to ge there with a metal detector. As for the gun carriages why not organise a group to save them. After retrieval and preservation I am sure you would find a museum to take care of them.
I have liked and subscribed.
Good thing there weren’t land mines
There wouldn't be. The Germans needed access.
Watching anything old remindes me of myself being old and the youth time that I didn't get enough use out of.i feel I am a 80year old.i am just 35. i am sad guys! Someday I will be long gone like Nazis but sad and depressed.

Amazing love from India,
Keep doing great work!!!
Appreciate your work!!!
Thank you Atul :)
I’m from the U.K. and I think all that equipment that is left over after the war should be saved as it’s part of your country’s heritage and visitors could go and visit the site... Cheers for showing us 🏴👍🏼
ok and thanks my friend.
WW2HistoryHunter ur welcome.
Many people must have suffered here in this spot you're exploring. Thank you both for showing us history.
Thanks.
Thanx very much! As it was very good footage. Enjoyed it..Again, THANX, C. Maria🎥
Glad you enjoyed it
The room with the "large pipes" is the magazine.
