    Hi Tom, Thanks for taking us to the Inner Sanctum once again. We are in agreement: I would rather be down in the basement unboxing with you than watching football. 👍😁

    As ever Tom, you are a gentleman, a scholar and a diplomat!
    Your comment “I assume the rest of this box is filled with similar treasures, so we won’t go any further” was priceless!
    That SS cream jug gave me a good chuckle!

    Add the hits just keep on coming. 👍🏼Great intro Tom, and no we don’t mind the unwrapping. Gives me ideas for new techniques. 😂😂 Sounds like a great show in KY coming up.I’m a photographer and the photo book looks like someone cut up a 35mm proof sheet and mounted the frames to the album. Very interesting. We do the same thing today except on a single sheet of 8x10 photo paper and all digital of course.

    • @kennethrouse7942
      @kennethrouse7942 2 роки тому +1

      There are a couple of pictures of Hitler wearing an Italian Fascist officer's dagger at some function with Mussolini. I think that that was the only time he was ever seen wearing one. 🤔

    • @synchrome62
      @synchrome62 2 роки тому +1

      @Kenneth Rouse you are correct. I hope you’re dong well! Yes, it is the only known photograph of him wearing a dagger. It was on the occasion when he visited Mussolini and was made “honorary Corporal” in the Italian Fascist Army, commemorating Hitler’s WWI rank.

    With that Alcoso navy dagger that has the change over pommel… why would it have an Alcoso blade and MM that was the last mm used by Alcoso? If it’s an original Weimar or imperial-Prussian… naval dagger it should not have that late war Alcoso MM on the blade…… something fishy going on with that one….

    I am new into collecting would you recomend what piece of militaria should I buy?

    • @mulm_45
      @mulm_45 2 роки тому +3

      Start with Something Not so expensive Like a few medals and when you get more and more knowledge and Expertise you can start with Like daggers or Something Other expensive...and in the Progress you can Look if you even Like the Hobby or not...and even If Not you didnt bought Something that you might regret... greetings from Germany

    • @thilgu
      @thilgu 2 роки тому +3

      A tip: don't try to collect everything. Figure our what you are interested in: a branch like Luftwaffe, SS, Red Cross or Polizei and branch out or prefer a part of the hobby specific like edged weapons, helmets or field equipment. There are specific dealers for specific fields. Start there, you can always change or spread out later. Figuring out your niche in the hobby is difficult enough! Tom Wittmann is the man for edged weapons!

    • @johnjenkins1589
      @johnjenkins1589 2 роки тому +2

      Yes, edged weapons are great to collect. Start off small and do your homework. Buy the best condition that you can possibly afford. Most important is to know what you are buying. If you don’t know what your doing and you just buy something without looking into it you will get burned. It’s amazing how many fakes/ reproductions and messed with pieces are sold as “original pre 45!” People get ripped off everyday in collecting militaria. Buy some books about whatever subject you collect! Good luck

    We both know that book with unseen photos of The ReichMarshal is worth 100’s of thousand of dollar. You can lease those pictures out to any historical book on Nazi Germany so I hope you have the guy a fair shake on it.
