I saw a fly-on-the-wall documentary series a few years ago following the police in the UK, and the cops went out on a call to a young woman who was being relentlessly stalked by a man she didn’t know and didn’t want to know. One of the officers actually said to her "Why don’t you try giving him a chance and going on a date with him? Maybe he’ll give up then." 🤦🏻‍♀️
Unfortunately this is fairly typical of the police’s general dismissive attitude to stalking victims here in Britain. Time and time again, official enquiries into the police’s conduct after stalking victims have been murdered have shown how little they care. They always say "lessons will be learned" and they never are.

Defence attorneys are essential to the justice system. They’re not the bad guys by default, the criminals are.
In my opinion it’s more outrageous that the prosecution allowed the overly generous plea deal than the gross implications from the defence attorney. At least his excuse was that he’s trying to defend his client. What’s the prosecution’s excuse for not defending the victim?

Although a helium balloon can rise to altitudes of five miles (8 kilometers) into Earth's atmosphere, it must come back down eventually, and when it does, it causes environmental harm.
