Fading Footsteps: The Mysterious Case Of Mekayla Bali
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 чер 2024
- 12th April 2016. A teenage girl left her school in Yorkton, Canada and CCTV tracked her throughout the morning. When she failed to meet her grandmother after school, concerns were immediately raised as this was so out of character. As time ticked by and the timeline of that day came to light, it left many with more questions than answers.

I feel very bad for the mom, but at the same time I can't help but feel like she isn't allowing her remaining kids to live at all again. Like, she's not celebrating birthdays, not even her other kids birthdays, she's not allowing them to celebrate christmas, nothing. It's like she thinks letting her other kids live more or less normally would be unfair to her missing daughter, but it's not the kids faults.
I feel more bad for the other kids. While yes, she’s lost a daughter, they’ve lost a sister _AND_ a mother. She’s basically told them their lives are completely unimportant to her and not worth celebrating. That’s terrible.
I was thinking the same while watching. It's just making the entire situation so much more traumatizing for them as well. Although I can understand where she's coming from. Can't imagine you're in your right mind after your child goes missing.
As I watch8ng this I felt the same. Im sitting here trying to think of a way to express it in a comment yet I kept drawing a blank. My heart too, goes out to both family & friends. I dont want to even begin how her mom & siblings feel on a daily basis for years now.
While I admire her courage & strength as a mother I also know that one child is missing, there are still 2 more in the family that need their mom. The same milestones Macayla went thru will also be ones her brother & sister will also endure, but in a very, very different manner. By totally dedicating herself to finding her missing daughter for 6+years & counting her other 2 children have not only lost their older sister, but also have lost their mom as well. I really hope th3y find answers in this case, but in the meantime I hope her mom & siblings get some help in how to process all this effectively. To anyone reading this, my opinion in no way is intended to be hateful or judgemental.
This is exactly what I thought! How sad for the other children that suddenly they're treated as unimportant entirely, and made to feel like their entire lives have to be devoted to missing and searching for their sister. They're just kids; it's not their fault, and it's absolutely not fair that they don't get to have anything to celebrate anymore.
Especially bc I think we all have seen enough of these cases to know that the chances that their sister was alive past the first day are very extremely slim. Whoever she met up with did not have good intentions for her, and while occasionally miracles do happen and people are found years later, statistically speaking, the odds are very much not in her favor. 😞
@@Trainwreck_Art - she's almost certainly dead and I hope that the mother has at least moved on sufficiently to remember she has two other kids to attend to.
I feel the worse for the other siblings. Parents completely stopped being their parents, and just became a missing girls parents. No parties. No birthdays. No nothing, until she comes home. That trauma from the parents, not the disappearance, has stuck, as at the end it speaks about how the brother can barely get a drink without guilt if Mikayla is able to drink. Dang.
That mother is drumming their guilt into their minds. They will grow up needing therapy 😞
@@AACE73most definitely
How terrible..It wasn't the other children's faults that she disappeared.
I agree. Even though the mother is broken she has a duty to nurture her remaining children. The footage of Mekayla strikes me as odd. Previous self harm, accutane which is known to cause psychosis and suicide so much so that it has severe warnings and is banned in many countries I believe, asking strangers for help with a hotel room? All of this strikes me as someone very troubled. If she was going to meet a predator she wouldn't seem so aimless. Plus what sort of predator doesn't have a plan and a place booked to meet their victim. I believe she wanted to disappear either alive or not.
Ya that's exactly how I feel
Obviously she met someone online & went to meet them. The main fact she didn't tell anyone is because she know it's a risk and didn't want her mom & friends to worry. Sad.
Exactly.
I suspect you are right. 😢
I'm in half a mind that she actually ran away. Her mother is very intense.
The creep probably told her not to tell anyone their name, the plan to leave, or where she is actually going. They’re probably also the person that got her the second cell phone she had.
@@jbwake838being groomed by a creep online isn’t exactly the same as a normal runaway situation, though. Yes she physically left on her own, but she’s a kid, she could be easily convinced of so many things by someone who made her think they’d care for her. And predators are well aware of the consequences for luring a child, they may very well resort to homicide after meeting up with the kid and assaulting them as planned. There’s a huge possibility she’s still alive and living with this person, but still dangerous as hell
The saddest part of this case is her siblings being cast aside by the mother. They seen traumatized from every second of their mother's life is consumed with the disappearance.
@@AlainaLee82 agree 💯
💯💯💯
What do you mean by "cast aside"???
I often feel the McCann twins. Siblings of Maddie McCann must feel the same. They probably can't even remember her but their whole life has been consumed with her and their parents searching
@godfreypigott exactly what she meant. Put aside
I find cases with extensive CCTV footage to be the most captivating and eerie. It's like witnessing the last moments before a person vanishes into thin air, leaving behind a haunting mystery that may never be solved. 😢
I'm so sorry for Mekayla's siblings, who must deal daily with the loss, are consistently reminded of the loss, and have no birthdays or holidays observed. The mother may as well say to those children, "You don't matter. Only Mekayla does." I've seen this in my career as a teacher, and one student said, "I could also disappear, and I don't even think Mom would notice."
That part really bothered me. Those poor children😢 I know it must be devastating for the mother but those children have lost their childhood because their mother is unable to to bring herself to give them a normal life. I felt as though the guilt of doing normal things without Mekayla was drummed in to them
Really very sad... their life or happiness & celebration shouldn't end with he dissapearance of their sister... It's really terrible.
This is exactly what I thought about constantly throughout this video. Thank you for articulating this so well.
Yes. This is cruel. What if Makayla never comes back, dead or alive. What is going to happen to these people? This is horrible.
It's sounding like a narcissist parent whose 'golden child' has run away...
This is such a sad case. I can't believe the mother doesn't celebrate birthday's and Christmases for her other children though. That seems unnecessarily cruel when they've already been through so much. They will be in their late teenage years now and it makes me sad to think of all the things they've missed out on.
I totally agree.
I agree. I was thinking that. Search for your daughter but be there for your other children. They need you to be their mom.
Unless you've walked in her shoes don't judge, heartbreak especially the heartbreak of losing a child is unexplainable feels life ending,I hope the other children have the family support they need.
It's possible NOBODY wants to celebrate ANYTHING.
@luvmibratt We can judge all we want. Who are you to try to gatekeep opinions? She SHOULD be there for her other children!!! Period. Point. Blank.
Part of the problem in these instances, is that often times the family creates a narrative about the child’s home life that excludes things that put the parents in a bad light. Thus it may seem like a child who runs away actually has no reason to do so, but in reality it is not as clear cut. That isn’t to say this person had a “bad” home life, just that they may have been escaping something the family isn’t talking about.
Definitely. Mom says she wasnt the type to run away or skip class, but was unaware her daughter told frequent untruths, possessed 2 cellphones and professed to being lonely online. Mom doesn't know as much as she believes she does, unfortunately.
💯💯 agree. The mother is clearly using gaslighting. I experienced this, unfortunately!!! It's horrible. Mekayla's mother didn't want her own "not so good" character to show. So, she scapegoated her child.
I also think that even with the most amazing home life teenagers can ache for a special someone outside of their family. Unfortunately this has proven to be problematic for many young people on varying levels of disaster. From a broken heart to murder and other situations in between.
It’s possible that she was running away from somebody specific. But then why would she go in and out of the cafe repeatedly? It doesn’t make sense.
@@flowerchild89very good point
Unsolved cases hurt my heart more than any. There's just nothing. No answers whatsoever. No body to bury. No evidence to go over. She's just out there somewhere.
I feel so bad too. But l think the mom should draw the line now for her other children's sake. I feel that Mekayla is no longer alive & has been dead for a very long time. Unless some random dog walker, hiker or fisherman finds her remains somewhere out there, l'm afraid this will go on forever. Mom should stop and give her other precious children a life.
@@Faristol7 I agree. If she continues down this road, she could cause her other children to resent or even hate their sister, which would make this tragedy even worse.
@@MaryTheresa1986I agree with you.
This, I just want to know what happened to these poor people. I mean part of what hurts is that if I feel so bad about it, how do the family feel?
@@Mandrake42 I think I'd go into full psychosis if my child just literally vanished without a since shred of evidence as to what happened. Even finding the body is at least an answer. Absolutely nothing for years and years and possibly just forever? Completely and totally gone? I can't fathom that pain. HOW do people just vanish without a trace??
this case keeps me up at night. Mekayla just drops off the face of the earth after having her every movement captured for hours.
Tuuuogh
Stop lying it doesn’t keep u up at night.

I doubt you lost a wink of sleep over it.
I understand the mum being too distraught to celebrate Christmas and birthdays in the first months of Mikayla going missing.. It’s the fact that after 6 years, she still hasn’t given her remaining children back the normality they deserve. I feel so bad for them
This game haunts me. I think she was groomed online and left to meet someone she met online.
I remember the moment years ago, I was watching my sons (adults now) game and saw the chat scrolling on the side and heard him talking to “friends” through their headset. And coming to the realization they could contact and be contacted by anyone in the world. I felt stupid and helpless as a parent.
It’s not a game!

I think so, too because as one of her friends said, she usually has a purse and not a backpack. So the backpack may be full of things she’s gonna need to meet up with somebody who has groomed her.

I have lived in Yorkton. Saskatchewan is primarily farm land and small towns. Its not that easy to hide as everyone knows everyone, but in the same breathe, its easy to be hidden. Thank you for doing Makalas story and giving exposure. ❤
Wow look how you spelt her name. That's careless and just rude.

Forgive me if im wrong but i listened to alot of crime documentary and im sure this isnt the first or the second time i listened to a crime that happened in Saskatchewan so i hope people in that place should be extra careful on their daily life.
I just despise unsolved cases....... No headway, no tail, no closure....... Just nothing but devastating pain! 😢
Me, too. In fact, if I'd realized this was an unsolved case I wouldn't have watched it.
@buzzbabe I agree that it's much more terrible not knowing the outcome, but even when you do there is no such thing as true "closure". Trust me… I've been through situations with the loss of people through crime and violence. Although we "need" to know what happened, we will never be at ease again. It's like living every waking moment in the middle of a full-blown panic attack. That's how bad it can mess with your physical being!!!!
@@ar2043 Sounds incredibly horrible!!!
It is and I wouldn't wish it for anyone and I ache for the others who have been through it!!! 😢🙏
I prefer unsolved cases. Solved cases where the outcome and details are fully known don't have the same mystery about them.
I feel utter compassion and despair for the mother. However she can't lose herself in this BC she has other children and they are suffering now because she shut down - no birthdays no Christmas?! She must remember that she's a mother first and the siblings are hurting and need her love and attention.
I don't.
@@flowerchild89yeah, because you have a defect of the heart (if not mind as well). How can someone not feel compassion towards a mother whose little girl, a precious daughter, was somehow ripped out of her life ,with no answers, no closure?
After 20 years of watching these shows, I am almost sure she is dead by now.
None of us are perfect mother.
But your lack of empathy is terrifying.
She obviously loves her daughter very much and is completely broken by this.
Needing money. Wanting to book a hotel. Clearly this girl had a whole lot going on in her life that she didn't share with anyone. So sad. Lovely family.
I cringe when I think about all of the grown men that I was talking to on kik as a teenager thinking I was “cool.” I was being groomed by several of them, but of course, my teenage self believed I was in control of the situation. I can’t imagine what kind of trouble I would’ve gotten into if I had a way to travel by myself. Prayers for her and her family!!
God yeah, who knows how many kids and teens went missing due to kik
Oh my my. Thank God nothing happened. Now that you're old enough to think back at your teenage years, isn't it amazing on what a different person you are? I'm 57 years old and I remember being a teenager and thinking that I had it all figured out. Boy was I wrong thinking back about it now. It's amazing how naïve we can be when we are young.
Kik was the worst of them all for vile men to groom at will. One of my teenage children was using it and the things I read after she told me someone wanted to meet her was sickening, I was so angry and scared. Some men are vile monsters.
So sad. I've never heard of this one. So many red flags, before she disappeared, though. Why did she need help? Money? An hotel? Just very strange. I hope that mum doesn't make her other kids dip out of normal life, forever. You can't guilt trip them over this. Rather dodgy attitude!
I commented something similar regarding the siblings. It's awful 😢
Do you think that Mekayla was trying to run away from a toxic home life?
@@flowerchild89 I think that's a definite possibility!
I know this is waaaay out there, & I have to watch the video again for the timeline of events & sightings, but I'm even wondering if she did make it home & the mother accidentally killed her in a rage over her skipping school & trying to run away.
He own guilt/conscience is causing her to guilt trip the siblings & not have a normal life.
As I said, it's waaaay out there!
Not sire about toxic but she wanted out in the beginning it says it all @flowerchild89
Social media companies make me sick, laws need to change, they need to co operate, they should want to, ffs! These are children!
@DMR1010, They should be charged for delaying the investigation.
That's so sad, but 10 months to access her social media is an absolute disgrace!!
There are some lawyers that are fighting to change the laws regarding social media privacy. It’s social media companies like twitter primarily and Facebook that have fought these attempts in court for years, and why it takes so long to access accounts when someone goes missing or is murdered. It’s disgusting. Safety should always override privacy.
@@Tsumami__ this is exactly what I've been thinking!!
She was trying to get money together & to get a hotel room so she was expecting someone. She got in their vehicle & was taken whether she wanted to go or not. Its unbelievable that all tbe phonecalls & messages were not traced quickly. This case was not given enough.
I was once a 16 year old girl in the same time period. My theory is she met up with a guy she started talking to online and there was foul play. In the same area as Emma Fillipoff another missing case 😢 that 2019 phone call should be investigated possible suspect throwing off the case
You should be a detective
Maybe kidnapped...
Its nowhere near emma fillipoffs case? They are entirely separate, different ages, different circumstances, different locations...
Victoria is nowhere near where Mekayla went missing lol
Taking holidays away from your kids is sad as hell. Poor kids
That’s unforgivable.
Abandoning your children is worse
Or lucky depends how much you like your kids
It's downright abusive.
I forgot that she also stopped their music lessons because she said if her daughter was unable to learn an instrument now she was missing, her other kids shouldn’t have the opportunity anymore either. What a wicked thing to do. Kinda wondering now if the mother was more of the reason why her daughter chose to leave.
They have 100's of pages to sift through. She was trying to meet up with someone. And she kept texting asking for help with something which i believe was money or a ride somewhere.
I can only imagine the horror and regret she felt after learning she was meeting with a monster and never going back home. 😢
This is one of those cases I can’t forget about. Her and Jennifer Kesse. No one just vanishes off the face of the Earth. Someone, somewhere, knows something
She was obviously trying to gather money and move in silence. She never even told her friends. Why was she trying so hard to run from her family??
I thought maybe someone was blackmailing her (maybe that person had some risque photos of Mikayla) and that's why she wanted money.
Maybe mom was emotionally controlling. The way she's ceased holidays for her other kids, I can see how Mikalya(?)wouldn't want to stay.
There are some older articles that delves into her home situation.
@@mini_skinny0296that’s interesting, that was the first place my mind went to as well.
I just made a comment, about moving in silence... I was one of those children who hid from my family, the amount of turmoil I endured, was staggering!😔 I had to escape, and dissappear in the shadows.
This story, while tragic, was told in such an empathic way. You’re the best. ❣️
My 20 year old son passed away and that was hard but to not know what has happened to your child must be the worst feeling I can't even begin to comprehend it,I pray one day that she turns up
I doubt she went very far.. someone picked her up and took her home. It's mostly agricultural land. A farmer could easily hide a body.
Yeehawwww
@@JaySquirrellwas it you??
They should run a cell tower dump at the time she was sitting at Tim Hortons, then at the bus station around 7 pm, and finally on the last known time her phone pinged the next day. See if there are any other cellular devices in common that were at those locations. Submit warrants for records of each device.
That’s how they caught a dude who did bad things in Arizona.
I was thinking exactly the same. If she had 2 phones they'd be able to figure it out and get new leads
There’s something odd about this case, in particular about the mother. I’m gonna leave it at that.
I agree. She likes performing in front of the camera too much. Even had that little boy dress up like some old master of ceremonies. Sounded like he'd been made to rehearse for hours for his performance 😞
Right? Thought it was just me , didn’t want to offend anyone
I agree 1,000%, as a former child runaway.. whom disappeared in the shadows, due to conditions @ home. Something doesn't feel right 🤔
I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of r/raisedbynarcissists situation going on :/
Have they searched the mother's house?
Hearing Mekayla's mom's desperate pleas is heartbreaking.
...and her brother's.
Best Tru Crime show on UA-cam! My Saturday is complete now . Keep up the good work covering these cases !
Ya this and that chapter are the best.
I agree and I 'm a true crimes buff. Somehow I only discovered this channel last week so I have a lot of content that I can binge. Excellent. Just for the heck of it, if you like true crime and you haven't heard of them, give two people a try who are really good. One is Mike @thatchapter and another one is Adrien @coffeehousecrime I really like those too. I think you might as well. Have a good evening.
Wow, I just said something like that without even reading your comment. Yeah Mike is great. So is Adrian over @coffeehousecrime
Yes, the TC girls are excellent
John Lordan, Stephanie Harlowe, and Danelle Hallan are also great. ❤❤❤
I always notice the little things in a story that people glide over. How can the mother not be sure who the father is... and doesn't that say a lot about her and the situation? Mekayla seems to have done a lot of lying to her friends... but she's being portrayed as an angel and all her weird actions called "out of character." Hmmm... could this be a case where the Mom is sanitizing her daughter's memory, but all of this was completely within her character? What kind of 16 year old pretends she has drugs or asks a stranger in a Tim Horton's to help her book a hotel!?? This story is sad, but clearly she wasn't the perfect child her mother is trying to portray.
This happens a lot, there's a tendency to paint victims as perfect; their smile could light up a room, everyone loved them, they would give you the shirt off their back. The truth is that we're all deeply flawed, far from perfect and complicated, that's most likely where the answers lie.
@ClownBlood-pt4sg but if you don't do that, people will say "well she got the trouble she was looking for" and move on.
I'm going to sound awful here and I understand the pain the mother is feeling but she should not deny her other children Christmas or birthdays. They are still there and as difficult as it would be they need normality. I would never give up looking either but the siblings are little kids and even though they're sad and scared for their sister they are getting punished because she is missing. This is a complex case because it seems to me she kept a lot of things from her mom. Which is the normal thing. I don't think she's left the area.
You don't sound awful. A number of us have commented similar regarding the little siblings 😞

see this is why i hate unsolved cases... the family's agony is heartbreaking..not knowing what happened to their loved one is the cruelest thing u can do to a family. :(
This is scary. I fear she was groomed and was talking to someone who was able to sweep her away. How horrible
She was obviously meeting someone and after this much time she is likely toast. And probably not very far from where she went missing.
Imagine she’s out there somewhere living with an older man she met online and doesn’t want to be found. It’s a possibility.
My hometown is Yorkton Sask. We all hope and pray Mekayla will be found. Thank you for making this video . Keep making awareness to her case.. Keep going Paula❤
I don't live far from where this all happened, and right from the first day, I've always kinda felt that somehow, she was groomed and trafficked. We see so often where parents say that it was unusual for a kid to leave or act like this because home was awesome, but their friends always tell the truth on this. I just kinda feel that if Mikayla was having a rough go at home, her friends would have said so by now and it would make sense that she'd run off and cut ties with family & friends.
I did the same thing when I was her age - a year of planning and then I just disappeared. But that was 32 years ago and a very different time. For her to just vanish from social media is wild.
So either her mother and brother (there's no mention of the other sibling in the entire video) are hiding what was going on at home, her friends are hiding what was going on at home and are protecting her by not telling anyone, she was groomed and trafficked, or she was murdered.
It's horrific to think of any of it and I truly hope she's safe, even if she doesn't want anyone to know where she is.
How heartbreaking for her mother and siblings. Was Mekayla that unpopular of a girl that she was trying to seek friends through Snap and, as she stated, had no other friends, and seemingly made up fibs to try and impress people? I am inclined to think that she met someone online, which is why she left school and was at Horton's and looking out the window for someone and wanting to get a hotel room. I also think she ended up meeting up with said person, who didn't have good intentions. Of course that's just my speculation. Hope I'm dead wrong, and somehow, some way, she ends up being found safe and sound someday... soon!
Thanks for featuring this case. I always think missing persons' cases need the most coverage.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, sissies!
Oh, nearly forgot to mention, although they didn't end up finding anything in the lake behind her school, I wonder why they waited over a year to search that area; seems ridiculous to have waited so long to do that.
I too wondered why they didn't search the lake sooner! Crazy! But it all costs money doesn't it?! 😞
@@AACE73 The cost of that search should have been the least of their worries when time is of the essence in a situation like this. They have an obligation.

When parents say they know their kids inside out I always laugh as having been a teacher for years, they know nothing about their kids behaviour outside of their vision. This is another example of a delusional parent. She was clearly able to lie and even be deceptive to long standing friends. I have no doubt she was meeting a man and it went wrong as it always will with online introductions.

I always feel so bad for the siblings of missing people, especially minors. They lost their sibling, but they lose their parents and childhoods as well. I know it must be excruciatingly hard to do anything resembling normal, but it’s so unfair for parents with other kids to make them lose everything in their young lives on top of the exact same confusion and agony as adults.
I also found that troubling. The irony of devoting your life to the one of three children who is tragically either no longer with us, or doesn't want to be there. At the expense of the other two beautiful children who are right next to you. The other two children should be protected at all costs.
Hope she’s found one day

Several of Michaela's friends had differing accounts of things she had said about her biological father.
One said Michaela didn’t know him,
Another said she thought he had passed away.
A man called Rick… said he believed he was Michaela's Dad,… but *Paula said there was no evidence for this*.
“
I am so confused by this response. Wouldn’t Paula know?
This is not the first person on earth to ever be born from a single mother, I get that. But now that Michaela is missing, doesn’t Paula think she might want to find out if Rick actually is Michaela’s biological father and if he and she were in contact? It seemed just kind of dismissed on the vaguest of grounds.
Sure, under normal circumstances that would be none of the public’s business. But this is a case that Paula wants to be in the public eye. Knowing that this is one of the very scant few clues available, how is it just going to be lightly glossed over while scouring hundreds of miles around multiple provinces on the flimsiest of sighting tips. Those are notoriously and absurdly unreliable.
I guess the public are not privy to all aspects of the investigation for reasons unknown. The withholding of information may be deliberate and doesn't necessarily mean that there is no information.
my niece was murdered in 2021 and now after 3 years, we know nothing. cases like these make my heart hurt so much. my cousin still cries every night. there is zero information from anybody.
Why would you be watching videos like this then? That can't be healthy--maybe consider taking a step back from true crime if it's just going to hurt.
Mekaylas poor little brothers & sisters need Mom to remember they need her, & they need as normal a life as possible. Losing a sibling is something we never recover from, we need our family members to keep living around us to keep life worth living.
I hope Paula can remember this & allow her children to try to salvage their lives.
Sadly, she's damaged them already 😞

My heart breaks for her family. Her mom is heroic in the face of such sadness and tragedy and her brother has immense courage and heart.
Thank you for sharing this case.
They should use Geofencing to identify all the cell phones at that Tim Hortons to see if she indeed had to phones.
Mother need to love, treasure and appreciate her other kids before they are gone. She has one missing daughter but other living children who need her to be there. No birthdays...Christmas...etc...don't they even matter.
She’s been groomed online, and went to meet someone who I think was toying with the idea to actually show up and was hesitant on showing for whatever they had planned. (hence her going back and forth and waiting around in the cctv) either way she met with someone who has brought harm to her, I don’t think she’s alive and it’s truly haunting. The worst cases are always those unsolved with no evidence or body
I absolutely love your Channel I wait all week for an episode, please never ever stop 😂🙏🏻
Heartbreaking story....
8 years and Not knowing where her daughter, sister and friends has got to be unimaginable Pain. I'm a mom of 2 adult children and Mimi to 8, 4 by blood, all 8 with love. My grandchildren are ages 5 to 22. I can't even think about 1 of them missing.
Paula, I admire her For Never Giving up no matter how many years has passed. Praying for a positive outcome. Mekeylas family deserves closure.
Thank you for this video.
Your channel is Amazing 🌷 ❤🌷
I think about this case often, thank you for covering it. I’m still so angry that woman didn’t do anything further when a clearly underage girl asked for help getting a hotel room. This could’ve turned out very differently if she had bothered to ask a few more questions.
Shower, snacks and truly criminal, that's my Saturday evening sorted 👌 thank you for always producing quality videos ❤
Seeing and hearing her little brother talk about missing his sister broke my heart, he was so well spoken and composed, that poor family, this has got to be one of the scariest things to ever happen, having a child of yours just dissappear and not know where they are, tragic
Soooo... one of the guys she was chatting to online said she had struggled a lot with self harm, yet later on her mother says she'd never had any mental health problems..?
I reckon the mum knew a lot less than she thought she did.
that’s usually the case with younger teens… she most likely hid her scars and the mother didn’t pick up any other signs
She asked about a hotel, she did not buy a ticket, she was obviously waiting for someone. Who is that person?
Nothing here is "obvious".
Thank you from your biggest fan in Seattle❤️🙏🏿
Out of all the Truly Criminal videos, I must admit, this one brought me to tears. I cannot fathom how much this has wrecked her family, I only know how the initial terror felt, had my youngest child who is autistic went missing for an hour. I simply cannot wrap my mind around the fact that after that April day back in 2016, in the digital age, that not a single trace was ever found.
I love you guys on this channel,I look forward to your stories . You can tell by the way you tell these stories you really care about the people your talking about ,and that makes a difference .keep up the fantastic work you are doing .
Yorkton is 3 hr drive from me. I’m in a small town just north of her. I wish this beautiful young lady would come home if she can.
hiya i very rarely comment on your vids but wanna say how much i love your vids/eps & appreciate all your hard work xx
Oh goodness this is so heartbreaking. RIP 🕊🌟
Ty for sharing Mekaylas story. ❤
God bless 👑🙏🏻🕊💗💗🙌🏻🙌🏻
Poor kid, no more Christmas or birthday partys for him. I do understand, but that's not fair to him
For *them. There is also another daughter who is suffering the same consequences as adorable little Joshua.
Thank you ❤❤❤
Her little brother is awesome. 💙
Not to mention simply adorable!
This is a very sad case. Thank you Truly Criminal 💠
Damn. And she's just gone. And that's the end. So sorry for her family. My goodness.
Your voice is so soothing I wish you had an audiobook channel
You are 👏 👏 👏 THE BEST UA-camr on criminal cases 👊. No nonsense, no inserting moral compass, and no speculations. Just no👎 BS.
I can't wait to witness you reach 1 million subscribers. Keep up the good work.
Nothing about this makes sense. Nothing. This guy in the States claims she self-harmed (and that he was trying to help her find god- weird, so this guy is clearly important enough for Mekayla to tell friends about, but all he has is that little statement?), but the cops rule that out- how? The family? But why would the family know? People that self-harm don't tell family they're doing it. Also, what close-knit family is it that knows nothing about what this girl says or does at school, has no idea she's got two phones etc.? Why is this girl going round telling people she's got thousands of dollars in her account, or that she's got oxy? Are all the kids lying? Was Mekayla telling the truth when she said she had no friends irl (and hence everyone that knew her at school is just making shit up?), or is that another lie/exaggeration? Did she regard her friend from 9th grade as not being one? Let's say she's waiting for someone: why's she asking what time the bus leaves but then never bought a ticket? What's with the hotel booking? What's with this constant running to the bank about, and how does her 'close-knit' family not know about this? How does her mom not know or tell her who her father is, and why is this random guy the mom says isn't her dad "doing his own investigation"?
This girl first and foremost comes across as someone that had a long running psych issue that she hid really well from her family (that 'close-knit' family again!) or had some kind of sudden mental breakdown leading up to April 12th. She may have got groomed, but this girl either had a psych issue or just really shitty friends.
This family deserves answers! I can't imagine what her mama is going through. ❤
Awesome!!! These videos get me through my shifts every Saturday.
The mother only said that she couldn't celebrate birthdays and Christmas that year when her daughter first went missing. She didn't say it again in the video. I can imagine the 'firsts' were the hardest. The siblings will of course be affected but you don't know their daily routine. She obviously worked before and her mother drove her and Mekayla to and from places. So grandparents, family and friends will be helping and if any of you work full time and have children then you know other people look after your children at times when you can't. It's a very difficult situation, if she stopped looking then the siblings could think 'she's not that bothered about Mekayla being missing if she's not searching for her'. They're probably all having counselling and no one knows what they'd do or how they'd react in this situation. As a mother it would be your worst nightmare. Please remember unless you've walked in someone elses shoes dont judge, just be kind.
I think she planned on meeting someone or running away
I think these companies should cooperate fully with the police about a situation like this. Young people can be very vulnerable to bad people
What companies?
Tragic tale, beautifully told.
What's up with these stupid comments some people make? "Maybe she's in Bali". Do you think that's funny? This is a real girl with real family members. Why do you think it's OK to make jokes about such a horrible situation?!
Just bots.
Takes a real crack baby to mock the family's sorrow.
She might be in Bali tho :)
She is in Bali
They're obviously either trolls or adolescents.
I love this channel. You guys and beyond evil are my every week show. Pull it up on the big screen and learn. Beyond evil has good info and shows footage. You guys do all that and give a good background about the victims
I also like Beyond Evil!! Have you heard of EWU? They also have real footage and interrogations.
This is my hometown. Thanks for covering her case.
This case had always stumped me. I hope one day she is found to govern her family the peace they deserve ❤
This video was deeply moving and incredibly well-researched. The case of Mekayla Bali is heart-wrenching, and the detailed timeline provided here offers a thorough understanding of the events leading up to her disappearance. The inclusion of personal anecdotes and the emotional struggles faced by her family added a profound, humanizing element to the story. Thank you for shedding light on this mysterious case and reminding us of the importance of continued awareness and support for missing persons.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this channel !!! Dare I say, my most FAVOURITE !!! 💯❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇦🇽✊️
Still one of the best crime channels Hello from New Zealand
I feel too possible scenarios could have happened. She met someone online and she met with Foul Play and ended up dead. Or she met someone online and they ended up trafficking her. The fact that she was on the phone but they couldn't Trace her phone calls means to me she had two phones. She was hiding something.
She could have made a call through an app like telegram or whatsapp
She’s long gone
So heartbreaking. Praying the family gets answers and can start healing from this. So painful.
