- NEVER DO THIS AT HAULOVER INLET!! BIG MISTAKE! | Boats vs Haulover Inlet
One of the biggest mistakes you can make at Haulover Inlet is going too slow. This Captain went straight down the gut with kids on the bow at a snails pace. Watch as people go flying around the bow.

Pop Quiz : How many life jackets are worn in this video?
Wavy Boats would that be 0
1 because at 9:03 the girl in the back is wearing a life vest
0+0= 0 👀
1/2
Didn't see any life jackets on any of the children on the forward parts of the boats that got soaked.
First dude is obviously taking out his step-kids and shows little concern for their safety.
Darren Covar should hold on tighter jimmy!
Valium YT “Dorothy never told me I had to deal with Jim when we got married.”
Kenny Kiriga 😂
It looked like there where trying to recreate deadliest catch
What a twat. I was worried for them.
8:27 lol the guy paddling furiously
I guess when you're spending $100,000+ on a boat you have to economize somewhere..... apparently life vests got cut from the budget!
You don’t have to have them on they just have to be on the boat one for every passenger and be accessible
@@dennisryan4223 Seems like this might have been a good time to toss them on! LOL
4 times that amount at least - these boats cost much more than 100 M - that man is obviously unmindful of the consequences of the waves slaps - I guess his wife (girlfriend) was so afraid that she would scold him the all night and never take the kids on board in such weather again
Dennis Ryan And that is how dumbasses drown. Those accessible life vests won't do those kids a bit of good when the kids are overboard. Christ.
@@Fragrantbeard Kind of the same as planning on putting on your seatbelts just before the crash! LOL
Getting tossed around like that with the potential to get banged up and tossed overboard without a vest on is NOT smart.
Red Top Legend is the master of Haulover. Smooth and in control no matter how rough it is
I cringe every time I see clips like the first one where there is poor weather, people in the bow, and slamming into big waves yet none of them have life jackets on.
I cringe because they aren't going anything over 4mph in a 40+ft center console.
Mom gives dad the look and a few words. Bet it was a "quiet" ride home
Karl Friedrich sad that FL doesn’t enforce New boaters to take a Boat Safety class. The kids look over 6 years old so maybe that’s why they’re not wearing any. But they’re not allowed to sit at the bow.
@@ruthkeiling76 you figure with that power and monster boat that is send it ville
@TheGreatOne if the boat is bigger than 26 ft long the six-year-old rule doesn't apply. They don't have to wear a life jacket at all no matter the age if the boat is over 26 ft
Drones are a game changer!!..now get on over to the nude beach!..🤣
You tube won't mind
It's national geographic, the wild side of human nature nude beach
Federal law prohibits flying drones over bodies of water or near people - FAA regs: 14 CFR Part 107 (CFR=Code of Federal Regulations).
@@lumberchicken007 Party Pooper. lol
Trust me when I say, you do not want to go to a nude beach. You are not going to see many people in their prime. You are going to see people fulfilling a bucket list. Diabetic Amputees, women in the 80s with breasts that look like sandbags. Old men that look like leathery sharpei dogs with leather wrinkly punching bags hanging to their knees, morbidly obese women (well you see that in the United States in all beaches but at least they are clothed), men with beach balls for abs with grey hairy chests with knotted fur, varicose veins as far as the eye can see, some colostomy bags, old lady's so old you think they are mummies. But this is not the worse of it. These geriatric exhibitionist are horribly rude, mean, and self entitled. The television shows friendly people in their prime that extend warm welcomes to their nude beach. That is not the case in Florida. They are naked retirement villages and hospice centers next to stagnant water. The smell is quite memorable if there is a ruptured colostomy bag somewhere on the beach. You do not want to step on the dark trails in the sand. They are nicknamed, "Hershey trails." It sound delicious but it is not like what it sounds. There is no chocolate in that trail.
Props to you for getting a drone and learning how to fly it to get this great footage
? That’s not drone footage.
Props? We see what you did there...
@@johnkelly2431 Some of it was.
@@johnkelly2431 you're right but at 1:09 a dron the flies right in front of the camera
yes yes very good sir
Absolute favorite is hearing the throttle change on the smaller boats. Good captains.
Note to self: sit at the BACK of the boat when going through the inlet.
If it has seats at the bow, some people must think it's mandatory. Have seen it too many times, some that caused injuries. Oh well
Provide educational value through my videos... Achieved!
Damn it man! That boy in the opening shot was slammed with 200 gallons of ocean water and removed from the very front seat and put all the way back to right in front of the captain! Did you see how confused he was after that 😆
That drone footage was classic!
Just because you can buy it doesn't mean you can drive it.
Can you operate such a big vessel withougt taking some training cources and finally passing the exams?
Bill Vekas yes you can drive a boat under 50 feet with a captains license but I would highly suggest taking courses so you know what to do in rough seas so you don’t hurt your passengers or sink your boat like the guy in the first video almost did...
who doesnt love to start the weekend giving your kids CTE
Luca Abdalla lmao
Nervous laughing
🤣🤣
LOL!! They are probably his step kids... :)
The Grady White went through just fine. A smart, able Captain and a well found vessel.
He was killin it
Clearly has spent alot ot time in boats. Knew his craft perfectly. Well played.
I had a 204c for 20 years.. that boat made me look good.
putting ur tabs up helps... @the first dude
Grady whites are a very solid vessel, they're popular in maine
Now that was a AWESOME SHOT with the drone, way to get a cooler spectrum .. Nice
I’m here because a bout 2 months ago I got into a major boat accident we capsized abt 2 miles out and sadly my dads best friends dad passed away kinda reliving my fear all I remember is the feeling that I thought I was about to die anyway the ocean is no joke it almost took my life but the people in it are saints the reason we were saved was because of the heroes that were in another boat risking their lives so yea boat drivers this bad should never be in the ocean we had a very experienced driver and got caught in over 9ft swells because of the hurricane brewing down south moral of the story u always have to face your fears I will get back on a boat on time, after the meanly issues go away I just wanted others to hear my story thanks for getting this far, I hope y’all have a wonderful day
The red Hydra Sport had the boat trimmed perfectly with right amount of throttle. Notice how high those engines were trimmed out.
Those old heavy hulls, like the SeeVee especially, ride sooo nice....
Seavee's always handle it well...though it helps of course when your captain knows what he's doing (which doesn't happen often on here!)
rough day at haulover but great footage 😎👍
This whole video is absolutely A+ material, thanks!
16 foot Boston whaler went through the smoothest!
They usually do, pretty much unsinkable.
They didn't make a 16ft.

apparently he was the only one who knows to adjust the trim....but barely
Love the drone footage
At 9:12 I was sure that top-heavy narrow-beam boat with the elevated helm was gonna capsize, but the captain was a real master of keeping that thing stable!
I don't even do boating and I'm fascinated watching this.
Thanks for the good laughs, been too long since I have laughed so much! I've been over that bar so many times, and it was always rough. Weekend boaters often don't have the experience necessary to use it safely. Good friend of mine (while out with his buddy) was critically hurt simply due to inexperience and had traumatic brain injury. It's not a place for amateur boaters for sure!
3:28 Formula 330ss. Classic Formula lines. 😍
Loving the drone footage. Added bonus. great times. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like their going thru the pass in pensacola fl . been there a few times.
60 frames per second and using a drone?! You the man.
LOL that drone was great to show the carnage on that hideous Regal at 2:32
Thanks for noticing! 🤙
Boxhawk i counted 3 waves in succession that put green water over their bows... I’m surprised they still floated 🙄
@@WavyBoats whatever happened to the YELLOW top legend?
@@fredfranklin8816 He hasn't been by Haulover in a few weeks. Hopefully he will make an appearance soon. Others have also asked about him.
And this is exactly why I don't go out with just anyone who invites on a fishing trip
My brother is retired Air Force I mentioned to him once said I was going to go flying in a plane with a friend of mine he told me don’t do it the best way to get killed is to go flying with a weekend pilot About six months later the guy was going to go flying with wrecked his plane and killed himself I bet the same goes for boats out on the ocean
You really stepped up your game with the additional drone footage!
Been a while since I've watched. Loving the drone footage
6:50 The guy in the Boston Whaler looks to be the only one that knows what he’s doing
Yeah he shows up alot in these videos. He's my favorite and one of the most competent pilots handling a small boat in big swells.
The kids in the first boat should be nicknamed Chum and shark-bait.
"Shark-bait Ou-ha-ha!"
I've got a Whaler Dauntless like the RedTop Legend's and I am very happy to see it "make the cut" at Haulover. Nice!!!
Why do I like watching these so much?
The mystery boat is a Formula.
Yes, saying FU to the chop. Awesome boats.
Joshua M he knows how to handle rough sea
I think a 35ss
I was thinking drug runner!...lol
I was thinking maybe a Cobalt of some type
Unless in a 35'+ length boat never take waves that size head on. Always go at an angle if shore and depth allows for it
Exactly what I was yelling as I watched that dummy!
Best video of the inlet yet.
Love the drone’s eye view! Great touch!!
6:15 - Boston Whaler (Montauk?). With classic Johnson motor. Love it.
That guy is a boss going out in that little rig
Love how everyone was thinking safety first with all their PFD’s!!
OMG love the drone shots! Amazing views!
Yeah, because i was gonna do that tomorrow.
Glad i watched this video.
A whole new meaning to “take them to pound town”
2:35 thing looks like a floating bath tub
It is
I thought for sure that one was gonna roll Jesus
And just as full of water
Dont get how they allow this on sea even... Its more like a river fun boat
It’s a hot tub!
Learning a lot from this vids.
Totally digging the drone vids
I was behind them when they filmed it
4:42 those are clearly twin Suzuki's and not triple mercs.
You know what dude I’m subbing for your hard work
Got a new sub today cause of your hard work and dedication
6:17. Safe Boats triple Merc 300. Broken door.
That was the best caption mix up. LOL
I can just imagine that first guys wife screaming at him.
Great description of all boats in and out going.
Using a drone as another angle on your already interesting videos, really makes your channel that much more interesting. Well done
We have now added the drone to our production full time. Thanks for the feedback Gary!
Apart from having fun on the waves (life jackets would be good to see) and fishing, I wonder where are all these people going? Its not exactly nice and sunny.... :D
Lets go out in the boat today. Did you eat anything today? Good, dont.
Look at the JetSkier shaking his head at the chit show 00:15 🤣🤣
man how many engines do you need unreal. love it
Love the yacht at the 8 minute mark.
Some people don’t belong on boats. They don’t know what they’re doing!!
First guy needs to learn to control a boat and has no business being in that water jeez. The rest of them need to learn from 6:42. Nice and easy.
It would be the whaler too Haha NY dad had a water taxi license when we went out back in the day he always made fun of everyone too :)
I think those guys act as if they were driving a car on solid ground. They probably don't know how their own boat's hull is supposed to work, and that they should try to work with the waves. Oh well, everything needs cautionary tales, and that includes boating.
There are some boats that shouldn't go to sea, and there are folks who shouldn't go to sea. Then there are some of the second group going to sea in the first group. So much to learn, and so little time.......
GREAT FOOTAGE OF "EL PATRON" PLOWING THROUGH SOME PRETTY GOOD CHOP
Serious question from a non-boater:
Aside from the obvious choice of not going out in rough water, which I would choose, is there a good speed, angle or other approach to handle waves this large in boats this small?
The drone footage up the game a bit
7:44 I dunno what all the fuss is about. Haulover inlet isn't that bad at all!
Exactly 😆

Don Aronow. When it comes to boats, the guy was a legend.
Lorne S he was such a brilliant mind. I was fortunate enough to have grown up down in that area. My father was the Baja dealer in north Miami from 86-90 which was right in the Cigarette, Formula, Magnum and many others hay day. Such a great time to be in South Florida running around in high performance offshore powerboats.
Just love how the hydra sports run 👍🏼
2:13 The four Yeehaw's in that tiny banana boat made me laugh when they stalled out. Looks like the bud-light fishing tour ended early.

I flatten your waves..............................they mean NOTHING to me.
I find this relaxing!!!
Question: So what is the best strategy for the Nortech? He tried to keep his bow up with some speed. Had trim tabs up to raise bow. Engine trim looked about right. Not an easy day to be sure....
Was wondering what had happened to "Red Top" hadn't seen him in a while
He was in the background
0:16
2:26 "How to get a lot of water into your boat really fast".
Small boat, low bow, driver no idea what he's dong.
That'll do it.
Fun video 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Thank you 🙏🏻
If you haven’t already done it you should make a video of just anchors swinging off the bow. I see it all the time. You probably have some great footage.😁👍🏼
Question: if I’m experiencing haul over... do I trim up or down?
That first guy is all about needing power not trim. If you're in an airplane on the ground, you can do whatever you want with flaps, you wont take off without adding power. Natural reaction to cut power into big waves, but its is the opposite of what you want to do. Cut through them, don't ride over them.
Tim Smith Agreed.
6:20 most have that ghost triple motor and cabin
Whoops!
Outstanding drone footage! Which drone are you using? Can't believe I missed this!
I like the drone footage great job.
437 comments on here, all of them experts, none of them offer even one suggestion on how to cross the bar safety.
You adjust your speed according to wave frequency and direction according to the size of your vessel. And trim your motor as well. This will take countless cost and adjustments for most. Also you need to be aware of cross waves and account for 3-4 waves ahead.
Live Oak Roofing That theory indeed sounds great. I personally would need some practice to do so correctly, especially at a spot like Haulover Inlet.
I also don’t think that many “experts” of the comment section would do much better....
Indeed. By the way in my opinion, if you want an open boat without a cabin you should go for RIB. They are much safer than the plastic boats
Run it at slack tide
Not a expert but it seems like all these people got through just fine. We use to jump our boat over waves for fun. Most of the bows have oh $#!+ Handle's so you can hold on. The Stern's are a lot smoother ride. Looks like fun and makes me want another boat...
The yatch at 7:43 completely unaffected by the waves, I guess that’s what you get when spending over 1 mil on a boat, I thought my 80k into the MasterCraft was impressive
Length matters. The longer/heavier the better in heavy seas
Notice how the Hydrasports handle the waves well. The good hull design and plenty of bow flare make for a safe smooth and dry ride.
Love the drone videos.
Nortech Captain is a complete amateur. Has no clue how to drive that boat.
sometimes you just can't fix STUPID....
@@guyloehr5820 We are all born stupid, we learn. Some people just need education but your right for the truly stupid, sadly, they never learn.
@alex Florida What should he have done? Put in significant bow up trim and kept up his speed when appropriate to get his nose up?
His lincense has been given to him for free or something....
Quite a few this day, including the last boat with the cap way overworking that wheel.
looks like the big boat at 8:00 had it made! That first guy was really stupid!
Loved that first "Chq-book Captain" in the Nor-Tech....not a PDF to be seen...
Like seeing the drones getting different picture angles of the bow riders getting swamped.
the first boat went too slowly, had to go faster and raise the bow !
I,m assuming this is salt water , correct ? If that first boat were to be travelling 3 times that speed would this have gotten them through okay ? Another thing is what is the meaning of the term "Haulover Inlet" .
I live on the north shore of the Great Lake Ontario . When I see boats of this size travelling in 3,4 or 5 ft swells I,m use to seeing boats travelling "dead slow" . Only a couple of times I've witnessed an 80 or 90 ft Russian built Hydrofoil going through a 2 ft chop at about 40 mph . I'm sure it was bumpy for them but it kept on going . Please get back to me .
@@johnh1001 I agree, I feel like slow is the way to go. Ride the waves a little more instead of skipping to the next swell where the nose hits and takes on water. I'm not sure though, I do all of my boating in lakes on the west coast.
All the guy in the Nor-Tech had to do was speed up and that wouldn't have happened. I wonder if it was his first time piloting that boat because there are so many rookie mistakes being made, no PFD's, VHF is down, no speed control.
Maybe he should get some lessons from Red-Top Legend.
I throw a PDF on my 10yr old every time....He complains, but it gives me peace of mind.... Live in the Panhandle 😀
I almost wonder if he did that on purpose just to give the kiddos a wild ride & get them soaked?
Goodbye Mr. Anderson that’s just craziness. I live in Florida and have for years. Life jackets are mandatory until your about 10 in my family. A kid has 0 chance of survival if he or she gets pitched out of the boat. Once your anchored or whatever then the jackets come off.
Thank you!
I have never piloted a boat before. I live in Boynton. I do love them
When you have free time go down to Boynton inlet and just watch. Check a tide table and go on incoming and another time outgoing. With some time in the sun which is never a bad way to spend a few hours you will see the right and wrong way to some things. Boynton inlet was not built for , intended , or maintained for navigation. It can be a mean lady and many a boat has ended up near the outfall pipe on the south side. Also any boat ramp on a weekend around 4-6 o’clock is amazing free entertainment.
7:47 Oh so he has to rub it in by lifting his hands off the helm
😂 just smoothly cut through it while everyone else is flying around like piñatas
On nor-techs website it says and I quote ” you’ll be stable and dry, even in the roughest of seas.” I guess they haven't seen this video. 0:13
That captain just doesn’t know how to deal with such conditions. Little more speed and they would’ve been fine
Nor-techs builds one hell of a boat way way better than statement
LMFAO "props" to the dude in the bow of the Regal for hanging on to his beer!!!🤣👍👍👍
