So, from watching a whole bunch of these out of fascination, it seems like coming in is an exercise in "surfing" the ocean swells moving up the inlet. Especially if you're going against a lowering tide. Going out seems to be more about keeping your speed from getting out of control and keeping the bow from going too high or too low. Oh, and not killing your crew when you go flying and smack back down.

It was broken ... they don't typically belch that much black smoke, and it looked odd going out and coming back. Might have been a survey run ... I know there are at least two for sale in that area. Hull needs a little care given to it too.

It looked like he was timing the wave , the boat actually stayed pretty level compared to others , and black smoke is exactly what you want to see when you accelerate hard on a diesel engine ,
It is probably better to charge in though , if you time it wrong or you do have a mechanical problem half in , you would be in trouble.

how do you know the specs on a lot of these boats especially in a lot of your other videos? are you a member of the same marina or something? just curious because you usually get engine and hp also that can vary from boat to boat. just curious. and i love watching the older diesels rolling coal when the hit reverse. work those cats. its beautiful. nice videos.

What a strange boat at 5:01. Looks like the outboard was never meant to hang off the back of that thing. I wonder if it was cheaper to build a mount for the small outboard than to replace the inboard?
