The 'New Car Features' document Toyota has on the Tacoma has two precautions for the inverter system: (1)" When using high power electrical equipment (100W and above) with the power outlet system, do not use other electrical components (headlights, wipers, etc.) at maximum capacity."; (2) "Avoid using high power electrical equipment (100W and above) with the power outlet system continuously over an extended period of time while also using other electrical components (headlights, wipers, etc.). This can drain the battery." So it appears Toyota is likely concerned about the alternator being able to keep up. If you're driving, you're more likely to be using headlights/wipers, so that may be why the inverter cuts to 100W when in motion. If a drained battery caused the engine to stall, that could be a safety issue depending on the situation. For people asking if both sockets (bed and this new one) can be run at the same time, keep in mind the inverter, the inverter wiring, relay for this circuit, etc. were not designed for a 800W load. I wouldn't do it. While the inverter does have thermal protection, if you fry it you're out $400.
How do you figure a 400W inverter will ever be putting out 800W as you describe. If you plug a 10000W appliance into the outlet its not going to burn anything up, its just going to do... NOTHING.
HI! Chloe, enjoy watching your energy, your excitement, when making your videos clear and concise instructions, easy on the eye, and I dig that about you.
I have this installed on my new 2023 TRD Sport. The guys at guild are great. Super happy with mine. I chose the forward spot on the passenger side. Everything works great.
Thanks for this video, I used to to install one today. I added a 2 port USB charger in the center, up high so it's just below the cup holders & in between the 2 standoffs plus the Guild outlet centered below it. I used this video to help at key disassembly points
Ooooooooohhhhh, this is an awesome mod! I'm looking at putting a 12v outlet and a couple usb outlets in that same panel. This is going to change those plans. Thanks for sharing!
Another great and useful mod I didn't know was available. Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us. I've already contacted Guild to make sure this will work with my 2010 2nd Gen Tacoma. Keep the content coming. Thank you for taking the time and effort to create these!
Love all of your videos Chloe! I'm a lifetime Taco owner and have recently binged most of your videos! Thank you also for recently sharing the 24 Taco review.
From my experience it only voids warranty if your aftermarket part causes the problem. let’s say for example You wanted to warranty your battery and they saw that you added this outlet yes it would void it but if you need suspension work done and saw this outlet no they won’t void it because this outlet did not cause your suspension to fail.
Thanks for the vid. This will be cool for vehicle fridges. However, 100W, when the vehicle is in motion can’t keep fridges cool and you still connect and use coffee maker with a 400W. Better off installing a power inverter.
This is a cool mod. I'd like to do this but also add a 2nd outlet next to it with a couple of SUB ports for powering/charging mobile devices in the rear seats.
I was thinking about doing something like this. But instead i just ran some wire from the battery thru the fire wall and under the carpet I have a Bestek 450W inverter in the cab with me instead.
Chloe you're pretty knowledgeable. Those little red clips underneath the center console do you know a good way to find them online. I don't want to go through a dealership to get them.
My guess is 400 watts will tempt owners run equipment that will deem it unsafe while driving. But hay nothing wrong with cooking a good stew in a crock pot on a long drive
How secure is the outlet when you're pulling out the plug? Doesn't look like there's any support holding the outlet in the compartment, Im afraid when pulling the plug consistently, overtime the compartment gets weaker, and hole gets bigger from the pulling and eventually the outlet just pops right out.
This quick mod made my day!! I always wanted to add this function to my Taco. Charging my laptop while working in the field is an awesome help!! Thank you so much for your great content and tips @ChloeKuo !!!
I plan to do this to power/ charge my 12v fridge/freezer . I would also like to have beside it on console a 12v outlet. Do you know of one that would work?
I just ordered the Toyota part number 85530-35050-C0. AC outlet and harness. It cost $100 in Canada. I'm hoping this is the same thing as the Guild Outfitter one. Any ideas?
I’ve been a big Toyota fan for over 30 years and a year ago I went to buy a new Tundra and I found out that there were no more V-8 engines, I couldn’t believe that they quit making them and everything they make now is 4 or 6 cylinder engines. With turbos. So I bought a new Ram Power Wagon with a big block Hemi . I can’t drive a full size truck with a 6 cylinder in it.
Whereas it sounds good, I’d still be a little weary on why Toyota went to the extra expense of limiting it in the first place. If it limits when driving, then the alternator may not be big enough to supply power to both the engine and the inverter at the same time. The new model probably has a different alternator to handle the draw. Interesting question though.
i have a question for a mod or upgrade as it were? can you change out the usb port to something without an aux plug? can you guide me in some sort of direction to that? thanks i will probably do this video mod cause i need an outlet in truck
Chloe is great at showing me things I didn't know I needed! Guild Outfitters is added to my list.
😅

I’ve had my truck for 7 years and have only used the bed outlet 1 time but for some reason I still really want this mod. Lol
I recommend using a Dremel for the cuts. You end up with a much cleaner install.
I didn't even know the Tacoma was limited down to 100w when in motion. Good info!
HI! Chloe, enjoy watching your energy, your excitement, when making your videos clear and concise instructions, easy on the eye, and I dig that about you.
good grief.
I have this installed on my new 2023 TRD Sport. The guys at guild are great. Super happy with mine. I chose the forward spot on the passenger side. Everything works great.
Do they offer one with USB porte as well???
Thanks for this video, I used to to install one today. I added a 2 port USB charger in the center, up high so it's just below the cup holders & in between the 2 standoffs plus the Guild outlet centered below it. I used this video to help at key disassembly points
I added this to my 23 TRD Sport. Was easy to do and works great! I use it to power a fridge.
POV You just got done doing the cupholder mod and now you get to do it all over again lol
fr

Chloe, I love this channel! You are the Tacoma Queen! Thanks for all you do.
This will help so much when I'm running my dometic fridge!
I hope Toyota is paying attention to this channel.
00:02:53 They do!!
Love all of your videos Chloe! I'm a lifetime Taco owner and have recently binged most of your videos! Thank you also for recently sharing the 24 Taco review.
Does this void any warranty with Toyota? I really want to add this to my truck. Thanks for the great video!
My exact same question.

Great video don't know if you look back at your old video's
Just wondering have you seen anyone putting a couple phone charging plugs in as well.
We just did it, straight forward, easy peasy , thank you
Watching your video make me miss my Tacoma. But I also love my tundra
"You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention"
My favorite Taco girl, you always make my day!
I just love Toyota trucks....wish i could own one someday n I love wat u do Chloe♥️
Is there a way/kit to put a small USB or USB-c panel with the outlet, and possible outlets in other locations?
Now i need something i do not need and probably wont use. Great video. 👍
Great video. Ordered the kit and now I know how to put it in. Thanks Chloe
Bought this year or more ago, guess it’s time to install it!
Back of the console looks clean….can you access it with the rear seats folded down?
Very nice great video I will definitely have to install one. Great narration
You find the coolest upgrades. Thank you.
Thanks for the vid. This will be cool for vehicle fridges. However, 100W, when the vehicle is in motion can’t keep fridges cool and you still connect and use coffee maker with a 400W. Better off installing a power inverter.
Very useful information! Wish Toyota had this as standard equipment, but happy to see Guild filled the void. As always great video.
I think I need this mod make so much sense.
This is a cool mod. I'd like to do this but also add a 2nd outlet next to it with a couple of SUB ports for powering/charging mobile devices in the rear seats.
Received it. Have not installed yet. Thank you Chloe.
I was thinking about doing something like this. But instead i just ran some wire from the battery thru the fire wall and under the carpet I have a Bestek 450W inverter in the cab with me instead.
Nicely done Chloe, thanks for sharing as always. You're the best.
Never knew that was possible. Thank you for a very informative instruction.
I don't own a truck and I don't want a truck. But this is still a good channel. Subbed. 🎉
Got this from Guild Outfitters at expo Mtn West in Loveland. Totally worth it.
The title was misleading and funny 😁. Adding a outlet plus 400 watts while driving mod. I was expecting you to do the mod while actually driving 😂
Goober!!!! Lol
Nice mod for the Tacoma, I might do that to mine. A great extra power source inside the truck.
Chloe, great video as usual. Are you planning or even contemplating on getting the new Tacoma when it comes out?
Chloe you're pretty knowledgeable. Those little red clips underneath the center console do you know a good way to find them online. I don't want to go through a dealership to get them.
As usual Chloe awesome mod and installation.
I keep wanting to put an inverter in my truck. I guess I'm inverter shopping this weekend.
I have been looking for this for my truck!! Thanks for the info
I just run an extension chord through the back window lol
L😂L
That sounds like something I would do. 😅
But that doesn’t work while driving.
Good video, I bought one and just installed it.
Not bad for $100 bucks! Great vid!
My guess is 400 watts will tempt owners run equipment that will deem it unsafe while driving. But hay nothing wrong with cooking a good stew in a crock pot on a long drive
Chloe, just a quick question... do you still use the switches on the MESO shift knob? I didn't see the wires on your video.
I already have it in the bed but would be convenient in the cabin
That’s a brilliant idea…research pa more.
How secure is the outlet when you're pulling out the plug? Doesn't look like there's any support holding the outlet in the compartment, Im afraid when pulling the plug consistently, overtime the compartment gets weaker, and hole gets bigger from the pulling and eventually the outlet just pops right out.
Just get some propoxy, and strengthen it up on the inside
Now that's a great Mod Chloe 👍. ♥️🌮🐶🐾
I just got mine installed, but I placed it inside the center console😎
Thank you. Very well explained.
What kind of fridge do you use?
This quick mod made my day!! I always wanted to add this function to my Taco. Charging my laptop while working in the field is an awesome help!! Thank you so much for your great content and tips @ChloeKuo !!!
I did this kit on my 4runner, haven't decided where to put the extra plug yet
Know what would be nice? A way to use that for an under seat air compressor.
I wonder if I can do that to my 2022 TSS Tacoma
Another good video Chloe I’m always learning something new about trucks 🛻 from your channel i appreciate the info keep up the good content 💪🏾😎
it looks like there is a green LED on the outlet, when does that light up?
Awesome video! I'm sure I will be doing this soon!!
Love it! Just what I've been looking for!
Can you do this mod without the bypass kit?
Can I do the same for my 07 Tundra ?
Do u know if this will work on 4runner
Do you have a recommendation on a refer that can be plugged in?
Can this be done in a FJ cruiser?
Cool, I have that standard on my Nissan Frontier
Thanks for the video.
I installed the outlet and now my light doesn’t work on the shifter. Has anyone else had this issue?
I have a white '75 FJ40 w silver roof - got less than 90k miles. Want to buy? I'm in Cali
Super cool. I wish my car could do this
Will this work if I have the factory USB ports back there?
Just bought plugin... Installing in 2 gen. Its all for the Taco😊
Hi I have 2nd gen and just bought it. How’s it working so far and any tips on the install? Removing the center console etc?
I plan to do this to power/ charge my 12v fridge/freezer . I would also like to have beside it on console a 12v outlet.
Do you know of one that would work?
Chloe, my ‘18 TRD Sport has a dual port USB port on the back of the console. Do you know if both the USB block and the new block are the same size?
Show more boxing videos your strikes are strong 💪
Does it give you 400 W in the bed outlet also?
Someone needs to get a part number for the 24 center console inverter to see if we can ad it to a 3rd gen
If I use this in the cab, will the bed outlet also provide 400 watts as well?
I just ordered the Toyota part number 85530-35050-C0. AC outlet and harness. It cost $100 in Canada. I'm hoping this is the same thing as the Guild Outfitter one. Any ideas?
Will this make the bed outlet operate at400 watts also. Can both be used simultaneously.
How did you learn to do all this- I have issues changing batteries in my Flash light! LOL
Toyota definitely messed up when they dropped the V8 option for the Tundra.
How does it work because i ran a shop vac in the plugin in the bed of the truck while my truck was running and it kept turning the outlet off
Hi CK You Cover It All GBU And Family Always 🙏❤️ Stay Safe
Great video!
Thanks Chloe!
Do you retain the factory outlet? And do both of the outlets function?
They both will function.
Looks so stock 👍
Has anyone done this to an SR5? I would like an outlet but not sure how to go about this since it don’t come with the inverter
Now how do we add rear AC vents to the Tacoma? Lol
Whereas it sounds good, I’d still be a little weary on why Toyota went to the extra expense of limiting it in the first place. If it limits when driving, then the alternator may not be big enough to supply power to both the engine and the inverter at the same time. i have a question for a mod or upgrade as it were? can you change out the usb port to something without an aux plug? can you guide me in some sort of direction to that? thanks i will probably do this video mod cause i need an outlet in truck
I like the USB plug idea.
I installed a 3000w inverter in my tacoma.
Might be a dumb question, will the outlet in the bed still work???
Yes it will
Does the bed outlet be 400 watts alll the time to while taco is running?
