The British have a long time love to open driver and front shooter positions since the ww2 when Universal Carrier was employed! I do get to understand the concept, but I would feel safer if the front panel was actually capable of shielding me from incoming rounds
@@51ghostrecon Well they are not unprotected, but the threats they offer protection from are mines/IEDs and the like. I think it gets poo pooed because people don't understand what it's supposed to be used for, it's basically a recon vehicle and it's perfect for this role.
This goes back to the open trucks of the Long Range Desert Patrol who operated over super long distances into the rear of German and Italian position for both strikes and road watch duty. Carry a camo net and tarp for hide and rest. Other than that keep eye balls on swivels.

@@winterwar5583 Yes, we get exactly the same comments like this one on similar Russian stuff. God, not everything is going to have three feet of mega armour around it. Why the hell would this be sent too look for armour? that's not its job. that is what Ajax/CVRT is for. CBRN worry got a respirator then put it on when required or send in FUCHS to do its job in CBRN reccy
Oz has bought the HMT 600 series - 6 wheeler. Personally, I think the A/Res RAAC units should have these instead of the PMV's they are currently using.
Not used in "urban environments" much....it's designed to operate in the wide open areas like Afghanistan....although they are using them on deployment in Estonia...they are more adapted for desert /arid climates..... And just so you know....a sniper...generally doesn't engage multiple vehicles with heavy weapons on board.....these aren't"t used as a single vehicle...at MINIMUM. A two vehicle patrol....more often in a Troop or even Half Squadron sized element....speed...mobility....ability to see and hear...and ability to extricate themselves if they get into the rubbarb.... That makes for a good recce vehicle
Hi Matt, would be greatly appreciated , your thoughts on the Australian Bushmaster, sometime in your hectic future. Merry Christmas, keep up the great work. cheers.
I don't understand an open topped vehicle having multi barrelled smoke grenade dischargers (MBSGD) esp. at 4 corners. MBSGDs fire phosphorus based grenades in order to rapidly generate a curtain of smoke. In a tank or IFV that's fine as the risk of phosphorus fragments falling on the vehicle roof is not a big deal. Having the same phosphorus fall on your uniform (or other flammable items, like open ammunition tins) is a totally different matter. Compared to that, getting rained on is no big deal.

It’s not meant to bump into Russian armor, I find it funny that most criticism against this vehicle is in situations it’s never meant to find itself
@@winterwar5583 Yes, we get exactly the same comments like this one on similar Russian stuff. God, not everything is going to have three feet of mega armour around it. Many military vehicles are designed with mobility in mind, to get in and out quickly. Recon vehicles are by their very nature lightly armoured because mobility is the prime requirement.
@@winterwar5583 They’re deployed on Op Cabrit.
Why the hell would this be sent too look for armour? that's not its job. that is what Ajax/CVRT is for. CBRN worry got a respirator then put it on when required or send in FUCHS to do its job in CBRN reccy
@@gaz-3711 it’s a reconnaissance vehicle. Unless they’re meant to be kept well behind the front line for patrol duties?
Yes Matt. Australia has bought some for SAS and Commandos.
Oz has bought the HMT 600 series - 6 wheeler. Personally, I think the A/Res RAAC units should have these instead of the PMV's they are currently using.
Yes, this vehicle looks *very* British...unmistakably so.
Looks like a sniper’s dream - minimal protection for crew in urban environment. Any soldiers here have a view? Looks top heavy too.
Merry Christmas, keep up the great work. cheers.
Skip forward to 5:40 to get ride of the adds. Ridiculous
Some nice stock footage of The Light Dragoons on ranges there mate. The changes in the regiment since the late 80's have been amazing from Chieftain to Scimitar now Jackal. Who says war never changes??
I just LOVE hearing ads up to the 5 min mark 🤦♂️
here we go, the future of tanks
