What does a 200hp superbike, in race mode, feel like on bumpy British b roads? Well, I only stopped screaming a few days ago!
Tbh, for such a track focussed bike, the 1299 was surprisingly easy to get on with. There's always a huge amount of performance in reserve, but there's fun to be had keeping all of that and yourself in check. I don't think I'd be much slower on these roads on an 899 though, but that's probably just through lack of skill and bravery.
This bike did a very good job of making me realise just how average a rider I am! What an experience though. Such a privilege to ride one, even on crappy roads like this.
Apologies for blocking the speedo at time. I'm afraid it had to be done. I'm sure you understand ;)

It looks like you had a lot more fun on the 899. I'm thinking about swapping a 959 for my Tuono 1000R

Awesome video! I feel like I've ridden the bike after watching vs watching an MCN review and not learning shit about the bike....
Which one did you prefer between the 899 and 1299?

It's amazing when you think that a bike you can buy from a shop with a warranty could outrun an NSR500 or the factory superbikes I watched growing up. It maybe what every generation says but I can't see how they can keep improving superbikes without running into the limits of the humans who ride them and even the tracks they can be used on.

+james grocott I know what you mean. My eyes had trouble keeping up with the speed of this thing at times. It's fun trying to access all that power, but whereas the Diavel made me feel like a hero, the 1299 made me feel like a wuss! It's too much for me. The 899 would do nicely thanks

I seen the Diavel at bikers world in Birmingham stunning that back tyre is massive.

+james grocott I remember looking at that back tyre and thinking 'that must handle like a bag of shit!' How wrong I was. Sure at low speed it does struggle to turn quickly. But once you're up to speed, it corners surprisingly well and it flies out of bends. Such a cool bike. I'll be uploading some more Diavel footage soon.

Do I spy the Riders of Bristol test route? I was on the same bike on that road yesterday. It's a great bike!

I just sold my gsxr to help pay for my wedding, by my calculations if I cancelled the wedding i'd have just enough for an S model. Think she'll be ok with that? I could buy the base model and have a small shindig at the local pub, don't think she'd be too happy about that either!
Great video one of my favourite 1299 vids. Shows the bike being properly used in my kind of terrain. A bit of main and country roads.

Buy her an old wedding dress from a charity shop, have your wedding in a field and get everyone to bring their own food. That'll probably save you £20000. As for the rest, well you could always sell a kidney or any other underused organs. Don't sell your balls, you'll be needing those if you're gonna own one of these! That's if your wife hasn't already removed your testicles for ruining her wedding by buying a Ducati!

+TheMacki95 TheMacki95 Thanks. Shame I didn't get more time with this thing. This was a pretty scrapy ride tbh. Difficult to know how to ride a bike like this on roads like this. Never really got into a grove with this thing.I'd need a bit more time to get dialled into this thing properly I reckon.

+Patrick Chapman Yep, you can get yourself in all sorts of trouble with this thing without getting out of 2nd gear. Fast enough to outrun a police chopper though!

Here you go. I have a Ducati 1199R. 202hp on a track day. I was filming someone so not all super hard laps. However, all was done in race mode and you can see my speedometer. Dare I say a better bike than the 1299S.

+Paul DWstudio I only had the bike for a few hours, so difficult to say. Also, I ran it mostly in sport mode, which would probably use more fuel than usual.

road positioning , speed and usage of clutch on a bike fitted blipper. i dont mind your speed and comments even your very cheap camera, just cant stand the clutch usage .

+Tan Cakar 1st time riding a bike with auto blipping and quickshifter, so sue me. I recorded this in 720p to save space as this was a spur of the moment ride and the card was low on space. The Drift HD ghost is not a cheap camera. Look it up.
